After Liz Cheney claims that her father never tried to tie Saddam Hussein to 9-11, while trying to tie Saddam Hussein to 9-11 herself, Mitchell stops her in her tracks for playing fast and loose with the facts. Mitchell then follows with this.
Mitchell: Well, I'm going to go back, I'll do my homework, invite you back so we can talk about this more because I think that there were if not explicit, implicit connections suggesting at various points along the way..one..
Cheney: Well that's not...that's actually not fair Andrea because I think that, you know after 9-11 the issue of Saddam, you know, became a critically important issue for our national security because of his connections to terrorists and because we believed he had stockpiles of WMD. We knew and he did continue to have the technology that he could share with the terrorists. That's a very different thing than saying he was connected to 9-11.
Break out the waaaambulance. Heaven forbid Cheney would want to allow something like a few facts to get in the way of her spin. I don't think we're going to see that follow up interview any time soon.

Right-wing Authoritarianism takes different forms. When I think of the distinguishing characteristics of a Laura Ingraham or an Ann Coulter, and what makes them so repulsive and toxic, it really isn't any different from what a Ron Christie or an Ed Rogers or even an Eric Cantor would do.

Yes, I find it tragic that so many women buy into any kind of right-wing propaganda, from fundamentalist Christianity and Islam to being against abortion choice and equal pay for equal work.
I know that conditioning from childhood is a major component in causing women to collaborate with groups and individuals who want to control them. I experienced that myself even though I come from a fairly liberal family. But I grew up in the 1950s and '60s, when social pressure to conform was extreme; it took me decades to realize what was being done to me.

Yes, I've noticed that Andrea is sometimes slow on the uptake. I wish she would break free of the mainstream media school of thought (that is, not challenging her interviewees) and go to her interviews armed with lots of video clips about the person she's interviewing. And she should work with a technical editor who can quickly come up with the clips needed to refute a liar's lies.

They are social Darwinists and utilitarians.
That combination means that, when confronting their opponents, they are comfortably absent of morals/ethics, similar to sociopaths. I think this is the first time I have ever heard an interviewer actually challenge something she's said. Most of them let her get away with anything because it seems they feel they would be stepping over some sort of line. I guess they feel like they would be bullying a girl or something.

Why wasn't Andrea prepared for 5 Deferment Dick's daughter's interview?

Liz Cheney didn't say it was unfair that Andrea Mitchell checked her facts. Andrea Mitchell tried to slip in a vague, uninformed claim supporting her prior, refuted claim before going to the next question, and Liz Cheney refused to allow her to get away with it. I notice Andrea didn't try that trick again after Liz Cheney's second refutation.
there's nothing surprising about any fumbles you may think you caught there. Make no mistake about it, Mrs G is well on your side of the bullshit fence. She's just phoning it in. And Liz Cheney can follow daddy thru the gates of hell. Every time the Cheney War Profiteering machine gets a setup wherein it looks as though they 'won' and argument, it's bad for our country and our entire world.
Nice attempt at sticking up for your dog in this fight pal, but Liz Cheney and the entire gang of treasury plunderers, torturers and war criminals with whom she associates are personae non gratae around here. I'm surprised that with a name like Crooks and Liars, you wouldn't have caught on to that. But hey I read your blog roll. it's not really tilted toward anything intelligent or truthful, so your confusion and lack of understanding is understandable.
