Every once in a while Juan Williams almost gets one right on ClusterFox. While discussing whether the government should be cutting off funds for ACORN, Juan Williams asks Hannity why he's not concerned about the billions of dollars we've been ripped off for by private contractors and our defense department. Of course Hannity has no problem with that since they're "keeping us safe".
HANNITY: And we continue now with our "Great American Panel." Should ACORN lose all federal funds? Juan?
WILLIAMS: Well, yes, if they are guilty of this corruption, yes, they should, you can't have federal money going into a corrupt organization.
Now, I will say this, Sean. Exactly how serious do you think this is? Because the way you play it...
HANNITY: Extreme.
WILLIAMS: ... you would think that this is the basis of all corruption, going to take apart our great country. And you know what? This is miniscule. And most of what ACORN does is help poor people.
HANNITY: Getting tens of millions, getting $8 billion.
WILLIAMS: Forget that. They got about $5 million.
STEWART: The thing is, when you receive that amount of federal dollars or any amount, you should be held accountable. And the face is, whenever the layers are peeled back, the spotlight is put on them. In this case, when it comes to voter fraud, when it comes to using taxpayer money to support campaigns, which they did with the Obama campaign, they should all federal funds...
WILLIAMS: That's not proven. That's not proven.
HANNITY: Obama was a lawyer.
WILLIAMS: That's not -- that's a charge. That's not a fact.
CIANCI: Look, look, ACORN is an association that started back in 1970. It was to empower people. And I'm sure it was started for all the right reasons. Voter registration, helping people get home ownership, finding jobs, raising the minimum wage.
I'm sure the goals are noble, but, unfortunately, as a lot of organizations grow, there's a lot of bad, toxic people who get involved with it. And that's what we have here. The videos speak for themselves. No one made those videos up.
And so does it need to be investigated? Yes. And those congressmen and those senators are not going to stay close to ACORN.
HANNITY: They've gotten over $54 million now.
CIANCI: Over 10 years.
HANNITY: That's our money. On track with the stimulus to get $8.5 billion.
WILLIAMS: But it's not happening. Did you see the vote the other day? It was 80 -- OK, 80...
HANNITY: Because of these two little kids.
WILLIAMS: Eighty-three to seven. So that's Republicans and Democrats. The Census Bureau pulling out.
But I will say something to you. You're a big guy. How come you're not going after people who take billions of dollars? Why don't you go after Blackwater? Why don't you go after the defense industry that rips off our country? You know, these are people...
HANNITY: The industry that keeps us safe.
WILLIAMS: Why don't you go after Wall Street?
HANNITY: Look, how about we go after the corrupt radicals in the Obama administration?
CIANCI: ACORN -- ACORN is an organization that maybe should stay in existence, but not the way it is right now. They shouldn't get a dime.
HANNITY: We only have 30 seconds.
STEWART: They should have zero to do with the census. They should not receive any more funds and have nothing to do with the senses.
WILLIAMS: What about Bernie Madoff and the Wall Street people that do our people...?
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: How about we go after the government that bankrupted Social Security and Medicare? How about we go after the government that bankrupt Social Security and Medicare, and Obama that gave us a promise that we'd have 8 percent unemployment?
WILLIAMS: Why don't we go after George Bush, who gives us prescription drug benefits without paying for it?
HANNITY: I'm against it. I'm against it.
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: All right, we've got to run. Now, thank you guys. Great panel. Good to see you all.

agreed with ANYTHING Juan williams has ever said...
Congress defunded a needed service org based on a 'hit piece' that the conservative group had to run at least 6 times to get crazy edited footage...! Maybe we should begin to railroad CPR.org, the repub caucus that have lied continually, and Focus on the family on general purposes!
I do not approve of what the Acorn workers said and did but every organization has its share of fools! I am sick of the minority party running the agenda...shameless democrats need to get some gonads!
Why was ACORN defunded on the word of wingnuts, and yet American taxpayers are STILL funding Catholic Charities?
The Rude one says:
Turns my stomach.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
Yeah. I keep forgetting this lovely example. Thanks.
But is the Catholic Church primarily a Black community support group? If not, then I guess it doesn't fit the Republican Sin Quest criteria.
The de-funding of ACORN, which is more a media story than a real "financial hit" to ACORN, is for
the FY2010 only.
ACORN needs to mount a bit of a PR move. Institute solid in-service training, rewrite "the book" if necessary, stress to its people what is acceptable and not.
And then, presenting this evidence of what it's done, will find that when Republicans try to de-fund it in FY2011, then (maybe) Dems wont' feel cowed into going along.
Finally, ACORN should encourage a Congressional investigation. It can show the committee what it
is now doing. In addition, it can easily defend itself in respect to the "voter registration fraud" sham.
And maybe set the precedence for going after some really big fish...and see how the Repubs squirm.
Yeah, once in a great while, Juan will say something that makes sense; something that is good.
Hannity is such an ass. Yeah, Blackwater "kept us safe." My ass.
Hey Hannity...wipe your chin.

I used to really like Juan Williams. What happened to him? What is in the air at Fox? In the water or what are they serving in the green rooms?
How do we get a channel removed from the airwaves?
should sure as hell go after putting the murdering, child raping blackwater/xe scum in prison!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they have been advised of the questionable nature of incitement to commit violence, riot, being a contributing factor to a crime, accessory to a crime. The imagination and the facts may not completely collide. Their token liberal and black man comes to their rescue for "fairness".
Go Juan, You get them now!
The industry that keeps us safe! From... er...
Who is Blackwater, CACI or Armor Group (British) protecting? Besides Green Zone executives and Afghans Karzai they're protecting oil executives, financial speculators and drug traffickers. These are private armies.
Although, it appears that the Greater Mesopotamian War will be unending what would happen say if, official US military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan ended, where would these private armies go? Will the US Military be forced to extradite Blackwater, CACI and other mercenaries from theater? Or, would these mercenary return stateside to seek employment?
An interesting tip in the geo-political military balance has been struck as private military wings are now equally as powerful if, not more so than state sponsored defense forces. A major war between state forces and a private army is not out of the question. What would happen if Blackwater defeated the US Army?
Frank Zappa - Make A Jazz Noise Here
Because Fox News are Hippocrates and I guess Racist on top of it...They will go after and try to TRAP Acorn but will steer away from Halliburton, KB&G, Blackwater who have stolen BILLIONS from the American People...
I wonder how many the others have killed? To hell with the money. They are all war criminals. They need to be prosecuted.
When Hannity is asked a question involving companies like Blackwater who may have ripped off the American taxpayer for billions of dollars, he is okay with it because "they keep us safe." Is he serious?? I guess he also thinks its okay if police steal money from citizens, take property illegally or rape a suspected prostitute because police "keep us safe."
For Hannity, Bush/Cheney, Blackwater, the police, etc. etc. are above all of our laws and can do whatever they want. This guy needs counseling and should read the Constitution.
You want corporations and start-ups (mainly Republican run) that have done illegal acts and defrauded the taxpayer out of hundreds of millions of dollars over the past decade, just read "Blood Money" by Chris Mooney (2008). Mooney appeared on CNN and MSNBC. He was never invited to appear on Fox News.
I'm looking at film of these Taliban and Al Queda soldiers carrying 50 cal guns and ask.....where do all the ullets come from. Forget the 20,000 guns. What about the million rounds? Don't tell me that the CIA does not know every manufacturer on this planet and can't tell where these rounds are made. Then we saction.
he is not going to spare anyone who does not look like them.
Maybe the whole tea bagging is finally opening the eyes of some of the conservative African Americans?
Maybe if we could get Kristol et al to learn a similar lesson as the one the concentration Kapos learnt when it was their turn to go into the shower room, that all that collaboration was for nothing.
Although I am not holding my hopes of that ever happen, the operative word in the term "useful idiot" is "idiot."
A Sentence for Corruption Ends an Era in Providence
Snip - Vincent A. Cianci Jr., the enduring and unshakably charismatic mayor of Providence, was sentenced today to five years and four months in prison for presiding over a City Hall that his judge called ''a criminal enterprise.''

Study the symptoms not the virus...
Poliical corruption has always existed and always will. But if take the ACORN story as our guide, then according to the logic of Repubs (and those spineless Dems), that because of the actions of the mayor,
the whole city of Providence and its citizens should no longer receive any federal funding.
My point was simply hypocrisy.
Study the symptoms not the virus...
Looks like this Fascist piece of feces is doing ocertime on the Zippers of his contributors. Notice how SHE never answers a question which would require a thought process which she is incapable of. She can only recite what she is told to say that is why the Whacko Right loves HER so much (yes she really really loves being teabagged sshhh its a secret). No far all those Idiots Morons and Clowns that wwatch the circus of imatation news I laugh at you, this pieces of garbagehas only two things on her mind who she can throw a lip lock on and whose love muscle and who she is going to let PUNK her and does she LOVE being punked.
Really? Wow? What's he doing on this "network"? I think he read the wrong script!
As for Hannity, he puts on his usual performance of "Pay attention to Obama and not the Bush and Wall Street crooks" theater. Good boy Sean, here's a biscuit.
NOBODY 2012
This was only because it was a Black organization under attack.
Naughty Uncle Tom.
Amazing how quick The Manatee shut down that panel when Juan Williams refused to play his usual Uncle Tom "yassuh boss" act and spit back at him.
Is that egg I see on your face, Sean?

I guess Insannity hasn't heard of the little cluster fuck with the F-14.
The F-14 was basically the standard in fleet interceptors, high fuel capacity, long engagement range, and agile enough to dog fight. Though thanks to Boeing lobbyists, and dick Cheney, the USN was deprived of this fighter and it's air power essentially gimped, since the F-14 was replaced by the F/A-18F. While not a bad plane, unlike the F-14 the F/A-18F was not developed from the ground up as a fleet defense interceptor. Instead it was derived from the F/A-18D, which itself was a navalized YF-17 a land based multi-role fighter. So essentially, they replaced a fighter designed from the ground up as a carrier based interceptor with something based on a ground-based multi-role. It's like replacing a Ferrari with a riced out Accord.
Keeping us safe my ass, if keeping us safe was their goal the USN would have the finest equipment at it's disposal. Even national defense takes a back seat to profits. Corruption permeates even the defense industry, what was it that Ike said about the military industrial complex?
.
Oh...
... The insanity of that Sean Hannity; (ins)Hannity for short.
So (ins)Hannity thinks it is better to have our defense contractors ripping us off if they are keeping us safe versus defense contractors who keep us safe without ripping us off?
REALLY?
Or is he suggesting that the only way to keep America safe is to rip Her off?
But of course,
Lacking an astute Liberal on FOX, this kind of B.S. will never be called out!
.
Starve the WAR Beast...
... Feed Americans.
Keeping us safe. They've demonstrated that they'd gimp the military if it meant more profits to them.
Williams is one of the reasons I no longer give to NPR but when he's right he's right.
ACORN is being pilloried for conduct on the part of a handful of its employees. Without there being any evidence is was encouraged or condoned by leadership.
So, if ACORN's "sins" were enough to get it de-funded, how hard will it be to find corporations where
a handful of its employees have done something illegal or encouraging illegal or fraudulent behaviour.Hmm...can anyone say United Healthcare, AT&T...Say, we can de-fund the New Hampshire and Florida Republican parties?
Oh, I forgot. ACORNS real sin is trying to help poor minorities with housing and financial issues. And, of course, helping enfranchise them. Thus making them a real danger to the country. If you're a Republican...
Every time a GOP operative criticizes anyone even remotely associated with BHO, someone gets immediately fired or has their funding taken away. Whose idea was this pattern of behavior? All the GOP has to do is make an accusation, and ppffttt, another one gone. Why doesn't that work for the progressive side?
With all due respect, the answer to Williams's question is a gimme. In fact, I suspect that Williams was asking the question rhetorically because he probably knows the answer just as well as we do -- as do Hannity and all his cronies on FAUX.
Why won't Hannity support the withdrawal of federal funding from defense contractors and financial services organizations which have been accused of corruption? Why is he only interested in penalizing ACORN? Simple...POLITICS. The vast majority of defense contractors and financial services firms (especially those on Wall Street) historically and traditionally support conservatives and/or the Republican Party. Hannity is (at least in my opinion) a cowardly, bombastic, egotistical, vitriolic, disingenuous, hypocritical, blatantly biased, and completely unprincipled pseudo-journalistic hack -- but he's not stupid enough to bite the hand which helps feed him both directly and indirectly. I mean, let's face it...if the man truly believed in the importance of fairness and objectivity, he wouldn't be working for FAUX! Even if he weren't working for a soi-disant news channel which overwhelmingly favors the Republican Party, it should be fairly obvious to anyone who's paying attention that Hannity will do just about anything to justify Republicans and demonize Democrats. ACORN on the other hand has historically been an advocate for people whom Hannity and others like him apparently view with little more than contempt (if the words they frequently choose to use in reference to them are any indication) -- namely, minorities and the economically disadvantaged (who tend to vote Democrat). In Hannity's eyes, this is probably more than enough reason to justify attacking them.
Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
and I hate to make such a blatant statement, but these guys hate Acorn because it organizes the poor and disenfranchised. Period. That's also why they hate an efficient, regulatory government--because it gives a voice and a seat at the table to those without one.
Hannity is probably the most profound bigot of the 21st century..
Does Hannity really believe that?
They sure did a good job protecing that woman by raping her....
Willams has to schizophrenic. On one occasions, he'll tell it like it is, on another he's defending O'Reilly's honesty. He's got issues.
If it's because ACORN is mostly black, then really, shame on Williams even more for his turn to the dark side on ClusterFox.
Everyone who helped/helps the dark side has the blood of 4,500 Americans on their hands, Juan! And doing it for your paycheck is that much eviler.
but, yeah, that's really the level of argument here
And all Grandma and Grandpa heard was OBAMA RADICALS and REPUBLICANS KEEP US SAFE. That's about what I expect from FAUX.
Why would anybody go on FAUX News? The whole bunch of em' are idiots.
under GW Bush's watch really kept us safe. If that is how it works then Wall Streets little fiasco must have just about made us immortal.
Listening to Buddy Cianci call Acorn "bad and toxic" is beyond laughable.
Look him up in wikipedia.
....keeps bugging me about Hannity (I mean, besides all the other things that bug me about him.) He seems to have an awfully low hairline. Seems to indicate an abnormally small braincase or something. I'd say "seems kind of simian to me", but that would be an insult to genuine simians, who probably have higher IQs.
Hannity: "The Defense Industry that keeps us SAFE..."
Like they did on 9-11?
The Trillion Dollar US Defense Industry couldn't even stop an attack on its OWN HEADQUARTERS by guys with craft knives...
TOTAL EPIC FAIL!
I didnt realize Acorn was a "black" organization. Some of the representatives are black, but it does not appear to be a black organization.
It does appear to be an organization with some major issues though, and comparing wrong doings of one organization, ie Catholic Charities, which does do tremendous good, with another Acorn is a error in sound logic.
That is 4 year rationalization, since Johnny stole a cookie, I did it too. No one is allowed to steal cookies, or lie, cheat or defraud the taxpayer.
Acorn, does appear to have very serious issues having to do with its operating basis. The reason that the talking heads suddenly care is that Obama has aligned himself with that organization in the past so it gives them a foothold against the President.
To me, i dont really care. We have bigger fish to fry, so defund them and move on, and give them a chance to re-apply for federal funding once they have proven they are worthy of it.
What is hilarious about reading some of the thoughts on here is how separate they are from reality.
All things with a D in front of them are not good, and all things with an R in front of them are not bad.
When I look at my local newspaper I no longer see the Iraq deathtoll, and pictures of soldiers. I didnt support the war, but we are still there. Since our President is a democrat the liberal media no longer wants to talk about it. Soldiers die in Iraq and Afghanistan every day, but no one talks about it on the news because the media is biased, and our president is a democrat.
I found it despicable when Bush was in office and sorry to say libs, it is equally as despicable now. What about our Iraq timeline that Obama promised? I didnt think so.
My advice to you guys is to remove your heads from your collective butts and realize that the government is a corrupt organization, thats only purpose is to garner greater control of the populous, and it will lie cheat and do whatever is necessary to get it, regardless of party designation.
"I didnt realize Acorn was a "black" organization."
Of course you did. (Or don't you read/watch the news, if only to keep abreast of what the MSM is up to and how they are framing the issues?) You're also aware this isn't what I actually said.
"What about our Iraq timeline that Obama promised? I didnt think so."
You didn't give anyone time to answer. Deliberate? I think so. On persuasion, therefore, you fail. But clearly, you're not commenting here to persuade.
"My advice to you guys is to remove your heads from your collective butts and realize that the government is a corrupt organization, whose only purpose is to garner greater control of the populace, and it will lie cheat and do whatever is necessary to get it, regardless of party designation."
You took the words right off my typing finger. But I wouldn't have said, "My advice to you guys is," because I'm not much of an authoritarian, and no one listens to anything that's put that way. I wouldn't have said, "Get your heads out of your collective butts," either, because I would be fully intent on persuading people, not acting smart.
C. Corday
Infantryman's Mom
My post was more rhetorical as you point out.
I am anxious to have a conversation on issues that got this president elected.
One of the largest was him getting us out of Iraq, has anyone heard anything about that since he has been in office?Tell me about the Obama timeline?
Why is Acorn a black organization, and not merely an organization? Is it there specific purpose to help minorities or communities?
How is expanding the size of the government going to enhance freedoms of Americans?
Tell me that the simple finger pointing at this person or that person is productive, and accomplishes anything than keeping the masses divided while government encroaches on our liberties, like the Patriot act and now Big healthcare.
