Jonathan Turley: We Have to Decide if We're a Nation of Hypocrits or a Whether We Follow the Rule of Law

After Chris Matthews shows a clip of his buddy St. McCain saying he doesn't want the United States to become a Banana Republic, Jonathan Turley attempts to inject some sanity into the conversation with Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan. Turley explains why McCain's statements about being a Banana Republic are wrong and why we should not be condoning torture. I'm sure he would have done a better job if given more of a chance to speak. Is it possible for either Chris Matthews or Pat Buchanan to ever allow someone complete a sentence without interrupting them?

I guess we stop all war crimes tribunals? Release all those convicted of international laws? Let Charles Taylor Jr. free? Let John Demjanjuk, the 89 year old Nazi we just deported off without trial? I mean, I'd hate to look back, politicize the issue or question their "moral" justification.
I know how we can instantly reverse the repub's love of torture. Obama must announce that his administration will begin torturing for national defense. That's he's crazy in love with the idea of torture. All repubs will immediately turn on bushco, the convictions will race through the courts, then Obama can say, "Hah! Fooled you!"
Of course, that's a silly idea. But it works in my fantasy world.
There is a higher moral law that allows you to torture to save lives.
Wow Boy am I glad he never made it to president. could you imagine the mess we would have? Well I guess we got a mess anyway by letting the supremes appoint bush and chenny.
I still cannot believe anyone would vote for them.
How sick.
Pat is the perfect spokesperson for the right wing nut cakes. He expresses himself perfectly. He makes no logical sense, except to follow the reason that if we can get "what we think is real information that could save American lives" by torturing persons, and even KILLING them....then that makes it ALL OK! Absolute BULL SHIT!! TORTURE IS INHUMANE AND ILLEGAL!!
mcAncient is disoriented and full of bull shit as well. If he thinks holding administrations accountable for CRIMES committed makes us a "banana republic", he needs to go back to school...not that it would do any good.
The bush/cheney empire operated in crime. THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!! We aren't talking about "disagreeing" with their policies and decisions. We are talking about CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!! Jesus, wake up America!
