John McCain on Fox News Sunday is asked about the closing of Gitmo, and apparently John is for it but yet he's against it. He thinks we should close Gitmo, but only after finding another kangaroo court to replace the one we have now.

He also feels we have to find somewhere to put all of those prisoners who aren't from the United States, which Joe Biden pretty well debunked today, noting that there was only ONE of them which would fit that category. McCain also apparently thinks that Obama closing Gitmo equates to just freeing prisoners without any trials. I don't think anyone is asking for that, John.

Chris Wallace frames the following question on torture as to whether anyone at a lower level should be prosecuted as opposed to anyone in the Bush administration who ordered the torture. McCain follows right along with Wallace in his answer and only talks about those at the lower level in the CIA who followed the orders and not those they were taking orders from, and says we need to "move on". As someone who was himself tortured, this is pretty pathetic. I've got to wonder if he'd be as charitable if he ever met the person who ordered his torture.

some kind of Maverick.

Just another boot-licking boosh-lover.

Spoken like someone who stands to gain from there being no prosecutions.
Fuck off McSpain!

Johnny Senile McStain needs to get a life. Obviously, americans view him as an impotent, addled old codger without a brain in his head.

With him saying NOT to prosecute, you can bet dollars to donuts that the american people will now press even harder for the prosecutions.

Frankly, it's the ONLY way we can reinstate our level of integrity and adherence to the rule of law. Having investigations & prosecutions will be the ONLY way that we can "move forward" as McNasty McStain suggest.

)O(

Why not just simplify it and call mcgramps a boosh-licker?

Prosecute

Punish

All war crimes

And FISA crimes

etc. etc.

They were slaughtered in the past two election cycles. Did no one give them the memo that America LOATHES their way of doing things?

They got the memo, but they don't care about US. That must be it!

)O(

mcgramps has joined Move On.org?

the morale of those who tortured these people?

I'd say their MORALS are damaged, too bad if their morale is damaged and they can't sleep at night.

Just wait until these thugs come back to the states, walking among us. That's the scarey part of all this.

But I'm sure he's all for dragging our kidnappees at Gitmo through more mountains of Unbearable unjustifiable shite.

If there is a hell, I hope there is a special, extra horrific zone for these c**ts.

Fuck John McCain. ...Power to the People...

moveon.org!

Oh no wait ... maybe moveon.com would be more appropriate.

)O(

Don'tcha mean MoveOn.con?

You sucked on the campaign trail, you suck now. Stop acting like some sage elder statesman, you're simply a doddering old fool.

douchebag. he's a douchebag too!

Is there some proof, or is this just McCain's information?

Guards and officers at the prsion he was held at say no he wasn't.

Colonels Ted Guy and Gordon Larson, at the camp during the time McCain claims to have been in solitary and tortured, do not support his tales. Neither do the North Vietnamese, and through the good efforts of Senator McCain his records in Viet Nam have been sealed. However, it's a good story so nobody really cares if it's true or not.

I realize the North Vietnamese or Cubans might not be the best source for information but you can check this out...

www.cryptome.info/cia-mccain-pow/cia-mccain-p...

Hope this gets you to the CIA report on McCain's time in captivity. He reportedly told a Cuban doctor most of his injuries were caused when he bailed out of his plane. But then he also alledgedly tells them he is one of the Navy's best pilots.

... McCain would be satisfied if some random prison guard from his stay with the VietCong were put on trial and thrown in prison, that he wouldn't mind seeing the officers and politicians who gave the orders walking around free and maybe buying some nice property in Arizona ...

Take a look here - http://www.poststar.com/articles/2009/01/22/n...

Look at post - "mrs him wrote on Jan 25, 2009 1:14 PM:"

They have also been ripping into Gillibrand. These are the types of people that will claim closing Gitmo and stopping torture will ruin us. SCARY PEOPLE!

McCain has been given his orders to stop the prosecution of the War Crimes committed by the Bush Administration. It's his job since he lost the election to make sure Americans support pushing this issure aside and moving on. We've learned that all the information against the detainees was fabricated and these people were tortured to lie. Yes even woman/children were tortured/raped but McCain doesn't see that as a problem. McCain benefitted from the Geneva Rules but now that Law is gone and replaced with the Bush Torture Policy for all the countries of the World to use. Israel jumped at it quick by invading Palestine and murdering as many people as possible before Obama was sworn in. The pictures the UN released showed Israel soldiers watching a little girl burn to death from one of their fire bombs. The soldiers said she was Hamas but see was 4 years old. We learned of families executed in their homes while Israel said stuff happens. Palestine people were sent to the safe UN buildings then the Israel soldiers bombed the building with cluster bombs to make sure all the men/woman/children were killed. Let's see what McCain has to say went a new terrorist group uses the Bush Policy on Americans.

I am SOOOOO frigging sick and tired of these filthy criminal coddling Nazi scum of the Republican party. No doubt the retard thinks he's being very fair saying no trials for Gitmo detainees and no trials for the Bush administration criminals. Frigging worthless asshat!

And hugging and love that was going on between Obama and Bush before, during and after the Inauguration?

It's not just the Republicans that are Nazi scum.

You lie with dogs you get fleas, ya know?

Nothing against Obama (snark), but I have had it with all the complicity and "going along to get along" let's just move forward bullshit.

Mc Cain didn't need to hide behind the Geneva Conventions. He sang like a bird to get preferential treatment at Hanoi Hilton. The image of MC Stupid as a resisting war hero is utter bullshit. You gotta love the "lets move ahead" meme the frightwing is pushing now . Thats just for prosecuting them of course. They intend to stonewall and obstruct everything that may be good for beaten down middle classers. Same ole assholes for sure. Can set your watch to them.
Soon to be heard also
911 ? old news ..lets move on
WMD lies ? " You still remember that ?"
pre 911 wiretaps... "just checking out the system for 911"
economy ? " How could Obama fuck that up so fast ?"

He must have gotten that Moose-Log from Sarah....everything he says sounds like what he said before - NOTHING!

Maybe we could replace that special cell tower on his property with a new detention camp and give the FEW 'special cases' to him to manage..end of issue. Cindy could go dance for them instead of on teevee.... probably wouldn't get laughed off the stage...

This guy is so lame it's embarrassing....

)O(

How 'bout we agree:

We stop pursuing prosecution for American torturers

And you stop calling the VC g**ks.

John has definitely 'moved on' from being a maverick. So much the worse for this country. Step aside, John and let a new generation fix things.

...

What do you expect an accomplice to torture, voting for the bill that allowed it, to say while being interviewed on FAUX Noise....it isn't actually news you know.

When McCain supported torturing people he lost ALL credibility. Whatever respect he may have earned as POW he lost right then and there. He's a disgrace.

Who care's what he thinks.

Faux noise and their audience.

Grandpa...if we valued what you thought you'd be President.

()

I can sort of see where he's coming from. After subjecting the American public to the torture of the Palin family and Joe the Plumber's Helper he's only trying to save his own ass.

For that description of intelligence officers.."brave...put their lives on the line..one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.." A very apt description. Tell us again how you feel about Scooter Libby?

Sincerely,

Valerie Plame

he was merely exposed to enhanced interrogation techniques

A nation that can sustain itself only by the indefinite imprisonment, oppression and torture of others does not deserve to be sustained.

fuck mccain.......
he has made a career of pity from
his pow and torture in the vietnam war.

what an asshole......amazing what marrying
a rich whore wife makes in your
morals and who should be tried for crimes.
the rich reichwing bastards are too greedy
to follow their own self-interests than
follow the constitution and laws of the USA.

...that AMERICA'S IMAGE in the world is never damaged again..."

That's what I like -- substantive reform and real accountability.

Does McCain understand that the campaign is over and he lost? He no longer needs to be a right wing suck up. Palin was a total right wing suck up and look where she is now.

)O(

With egg whites on her face?

You betcha. However, obviously HIM being a POW was bad....

others, (of different skin colors) being POWs...not bad......

so...who cares, right?

Not to mention, there shall be no bringing up anything against Sir George.......................

Of course McCain wants us to move on and not hold anyone legally accountable for torture. Torture victim McCain and his good buddy Graham the JAG lawyer were the means Dubya used to PR launder his torture regime by way of the MCA. There was this big production to convince everybody that McCain and Graham had fearlessly taken on BushCo and wrested an end to torture from them in this heroic MCA. Of course the whole point of this production was just to launder the image of practices that went on uninterrupted, and try to immunize the guilty. So of course McCain wants us to move on without any look back that would reveal that the MCA enabled, rather than ended, torture.

Probably the only price McCain and Graham would have to pay would be embarrassment and a trashing of their reputations, because the debates clause probably provides a pretty solid and comprehensive shield for the legislative advocacy of just about anything, however sordid, criminal, and sick. But the opportunity to test the limits of protection offered by the debates clause is probably not something McCain is eager to grab at. And the phrasing, "not be compelled to answer for in any OTHER place", sort of puts the onus on the Senate, as the only place where such vicious behavior can be held to account, to enforce accountability and expel members like McCain and Graham. The cry to do so would defintiely be raised if underlings they ordered to do these things by advocating for this law, were ever compelled to answer for their crimes in a court of law.

McCain is hardly a disinterested party when the question is whether to prosecute the torturers.

Obama is making "change" synonymous with "action". These other dudes just want to sit on their hands.

You are a useless senile irrelevant old coot. No one cares what you think anymore, if ever. Please retire and go away to Alaska to be with your masturbatory fantasy woman.

You have scary guys in Gitmo, but no evidence to convict them? Sorry, but they will have to go! Unless there is evidence, there is no crime.

You can watch them if you can meet the bar of probable cause, and I'm not sure what jurisdiction that would be outside of American soil, but to hold someone on the basis that they are scary is, itself, scary.

Goodbye, war of terror.

..."you lost, I won and I now speak for the Nation." card on these assholes and tell them to fuck off.

And Grandpa, lead by example and move the fuck on.

)O(

Hey!! OH - I'm sooo sorry, I thought Cindy was watching him...

We thought we had his restraint vest tied onto him pretty well,

but I guess he got out anyway...

I'm sooo embarrassed...OH GOD - TELL ME HE STILL HAS HIS CLOTHES ON!

Last time he got away he was running around with some prostitute from Alaska butt nekkid and was talking about his plumbing....

C'mon, gramps; let's take you home. Naughty Grampa!

How can one move forward following when a problem persists without getting to the genesis of the problem which created it all?

McStain's logic is as twisted as his grey matter is.

If you check McSame background , he has never been a straight shooter....from his divorce until present you will find he has been corrutped , but the news media gave him a free pass because of his war record , which they never gave to Kerry..

McCain's Voting Record: He Does Not Support Our Troops and Veterans

Let's see: We have several directions in which to go here - FISA and the illegal spying on american citizens - Illegal torture in violation of the Geneva Conventions, UN Charter, and domestic law - the lies leading up to the Iraq War - the lies about 911 - the outing of a covert CIA agent which is treason.....wow! So much to investigate and prosecute....

Actually, Kucinich outled some of the impeachable offenses with concomittant evidence in his articles of impeachment several months ago.

When you combine the stealing of two elections to the lies about 911, it all begins to add up.

Factor in those niggling Enron files which would now come in handy in unraveling our economic debacle - Enron was the tip of the iceberg - how can you say "controlled demolition" of Building7?

all of the Wall Street weasals who walked scott free when the WTC 7
dropped like a stone 20 something minutes after the BBC reported it.
Seems all of the SEC fraud files were stashed away at Building 7. What a coinkydink... one of the hundreds of 911.

There is NO WAY Obama, short of reading tea leaves, will be able to ascertain what went wrong, what occurred, who was involved, and how it all played out WITHOUT a deep and thorough invesigation of ALL of Bush's crimes.

I think the ones who are most intricately involved and who fear going to prison are precisely the ones squeeling like stuck pigs (fascist pigs) right now.....Gonzo, McCain....they keep outing themselves every day.

The only thing the DOJ should consider is:

1.) How have we handled like situations committed in other countries?

2.) What does International Law and US Law state relative to torture?

3.) What are our treaty obligations relating to torture.

This Republican meme advocating it is time to move forward is a vile attempt to cover up everything done and protect themselves from the certain anger the world (including this country) will have once the truth comes out and we know once and for all how cruel, inhumane, and despicable Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzales, and Yoo actually are.

If you tell an employee to torture someone, but you dont pay them much --- they can't be held accountable.
Wow.

With his 'Just move on' comment in the last part of the interview is setting a precedent in ANY court of law in this country whether it be City, State, or Federal, he said the Judge should look at the petty thief and say 'Just move on', he said the Judge should look at the Wife beater and say 'Just move on', he said the Judge should look at the Assault criminal and say 'Just Move on'. I suppose white collar money laundering is a completely different arena. Wow, didn't any one else get this? LOL

A few prosecutions of the ones that ordered these toucher's and the people that carried them out too. Hell yes, may be these honorable service people will stand up and refuse to go against the law and stand up to their superiors. It is not insubordinate to uphold the law. It is however very dishonorable to toucher anyone! Shame on us for allowing this to go on......

Oh Yeah Johnnie,

I wonder what you would want to move beyond it if there was a democratic president that was doing the wrong things? I doubt it.

We'll be moving to hold criminals and lawbreakers accountable. Why is that? Because that's how our system of justice is supposed to work---and unlike you, we don't spell that just-us.

This whole thing is kinda like finding out that someone in your family has committed a horrible crime, and everyone is slowly coming to terms with it. Some are even deciding whether to cover it up, or call the police - they just want the situation to go away... what's the harm if we sweep this under the rug? So they screwed up, it won't happen again. They'll be good from now on, honest!

These criminals need to go to prison if the USA is ever to have a legit government again.

Ok

so if the people at the top get to get away with pretty much anything they want, is the law really the law, or just a convenient excuse to lock people up who don't do bad things the way you do? Sounds a little Kim Jong Illish to me.

this is what Heather posted:

He also feels we have to find somewhere to put all of those prisoners who aren't from the United States, which Joe Biden pretty well debunked today, noting that there was only ONE of them which would fit that category.

---------

However, Heather's remark that Biden debunked McCain's statement is incorrect.

McCain stated that we need to figure out what to do with those who are NOT from the US. Biden said that only one of those ARE from the US, so all of the others are NOT citizens.

So Heather flubbed her attack on McCain. I don't like McCain, and I voted for Barack, but attacking someone and saying their comments were debunked when they weren't (at least not in what you provided) is kinda lame, no offense.

We'll move forward after we investigate and prosecute those in charge, you know the last administration, the ones who authorized the illegal war, the illegal torture, the illegal wiretapping of Americans, the illegal renditions, and finally the ill-conceived in the first place, Guantanamo, for holding so-called "enemy combatants". Why not send the "prisoners" back to their origin of birth and hold their governments responsible for dealing with them? In an intelligent civilized world, this is possible.

For a guy who can't lift his arms over his head, he sure carries water well.

It really bothers me that I used to have so much respect for this guy.

remember when the Reps owned the Whitehouse and both branches of Congress and one would ask, "why are no Dems on talk shows?" And the answer was,, "well they are not in power.."

Whats the reason now?

John M. shut the fuck up, you picked Sarah Palin man..

I agree with rend that McCain needs to shut the F_ _ _ up. Most of his opinions these days are pretty wacky and irrelavant.

Torture is wrong and anybody with half a brain knows it. The people who enabled the torture to happen are as guilty as those who administered it and should be prosecuted. Bush and Cheney included.

The Old Man hasn't learned a thing from his mistakes but has

Will AZ citizens keep him?

Isn't there a lovely Condo Association in AZ willing to make the

Retire Old Man.

Harsh words? What _is_ America? The vast majority of us have a heritage that dates at most back a few hundred years. There is no tribal heritage to "America". We are not "Americans" in the way Italians are Roman or the British are Anglo-Saxons or even the French are Gauls.

What _makes_ America a country are the ideals upon which we were founded. Those ideals are humanist and humanitarian and they were practiced even in the darkest days of the revolution by George Washington who refused to torture. John McCain shames America precisely because he is too morally ignorant to have shame -- yet we give him a voice and a place in our government.

It's really very simple. If we can't hold torturers accountable, who should we hold accountable? Why not close all the prisons? Every murder, every rape is in the past. Why don't we just "move on"?

Because, after all, didn't he completely avoid any mention of the past in his presidential campaign... aside from invoking that POW thing every time he appeared anywhere.
