Oh wait, that didn't happen, did it? How many times did any of you in the media talk about whether Bush would be able to govern if he didn't embrace former Clinton voters?

I never watch. Those 'News' channels are blocked on my TV. I have to manually punch in the channel number, if I want to see a 'News' channel.
I only know about a lot of these people solely because of teh internets, mostly this site. That's where I see them. And then generally I am unable to go through an entire 2-3 minute clip. It's like I'm unpleasantly stoned all of the sudden, and the minutes have turned to hours.
I don't necessarily agree with the "Turn your TV off" crowd, but I would certainly support a "Turn that goddamned TV 'News' channel off" crowd, since I'm already there.

I see a rollback in the House in '10 if Obama doesn't stake out the center, though. It's going to be tough to get those untraditional voters (youth under 25, minority voters)back to the polls in the numbers we saw Tuesday, and President Obama is really going to need to win over the moderate, older white voters who went for McCain this time.

For some reason, it seems to me that in the US, the default politics IS conservative in a cultural sense at least. It's much more acceptable to wear Nazi propaganda, to be a skinhead, or affiliated with more extreme conservative causes (e.e., the Federalist Society) than it would be to wear the insignia of similarly liberal causes (black panthers, SDS). How many extreme LEFT wing organizations are there compared to RIGHT wing? I can't think of any truly left wing organizations that are CURRENTLY operating in the US.

Frankly, most Americans are progressive. They just don't know it because the vocabulary of the left has been successfully demonized far more than the actual positions of the left. That's why it seems like America is more conservative than it is. Ask people whether they want a social safety net, universal health care, Social Security, environmental protection, alternative energy, equality, etc., and a majority will say yes. Then ask the same people whether they are liberal or conservative, and they'll tell you they're conservative.

Once NC county that went much bluer (if I'm finding the right one) is Cumberland, which would mean a lot of people from Fort Bragg. I read elsewhere online that it went 59% to Obama. I haven't seen much in the MSM about the support among the military for Obama. I think they like to stick to the story line they know rather than seeing the change that's happening while they're feeling smug.
