Apparently Mike Huckabee wasn't done making a fool out of himself this weekend after his appearance on Fox & Friends touting Donald Trump for Treasury Secretary. Heaven forbid he could make it through the day without throwing a little racism in to boot as well.

After slamming President Obama for the fundraiser held on his birthday that Fox Nation attacked as "Obama's Hip-Hop BBQ" which our friends at Media Matters wrote about here -- Fox Nation: Obama's Hip-Hop BBQ Didn't Create Jobs -- Huckabee took a page right out of their playbook on his show this past Saturday night.

HUCKABEE: I'm glad that the President had such a large time with his friends. And by the way, they think that they all ought to pay more in taxes. So hopefully while they were gathered, they passed one of those great old big hats that one of the hip-hop pals wore, so that way everyone could empty their pockets and open their checkbooks, so they could give more to our ever responsible Federal government, so the fine folks at the party can bail out, our government. Well, I'm sure that happened.

So, let's give back Jack. Let's cut the Prez some slack. His birthday gig might just bring our economy back.

As Media Matters has documented and we have as well, but not to the extent that they have, this sort of race baiting is all too common over at Fox and at their blog, Fox Nation -- Fox's Race-Baiting "Nation".

I don't like the fact that we've got all of this money corrupting our politics and that it takes raising massive amounts of money to get elected to any national office, but somehow Fox only seems to have a problem with it when it's a Democrat raising the money, or heaven forbid the Kenyan usurper who never had any business getting elected in the first place in their view.

Glenn Beck may be gone, but the clown show at Fox continues despite his departure.

That's a very demeaning comment. It continues to link Obama to a group that in the FoxNews viewers eyes is the lowest of the low. Total disrespect to both Obama and the African-American community.

Out with co-workers last Friday and this one guy with us just wouldn't stop slamming the President. The nicest thing he said was "Obama's not Black" over and over. Of course with me being the only black person in the group I guess I was suppose to defend the President. Not the proper venue and I didn't feel up to fighting(especially a facts challenged moron), so I simply left.

Thanks to fox, Limbaugh, etc. these subtle racist attacks on Obama have become socially acceptable.

was, "Fuck off you racist cracker." I am sick to death of the dog whistle, race baiting that has become the norm on the right.

And I'm white.

I'm sorry but I feel you should have responded. That's probably why that person thought it was ok to say what they said. No wonder they feel empowered. We keep wussing out. No wonder repukes keep getting what they want. People are afraid to speak out.

...comment to me I wouldn't have a life.

People do that with gay jokes and slurs all the time, like it's OK. And you know what? With most people it is OK. They go by unchallenged all the time (unless I'm around).

far left loon >.<

Someone has to pick up the racist code word signals on Fox now that Beck is gone.

Dr. Strangelove's picture

Huckleberry is just another Faux Noise Fraudumentalist "Christian" that thinks racism is part of believing in the all white Jeeesus. His girlfriend, Michelle Batshit, just recommended a book where the main theme is "racism good, freedom bad". The fascist reich-wing loves this shit.

Count the man's fingers. Normal folks don't have twelve of them, 'cept in Huckabee's Hollow, deep in the Ozark's.

I loathe Fuckabee.

Yeah, you know, rap music. Because they're black.

I wrote as early as the summer of '08 that I'm surprised no right wing commentator has dropped the N bomb yet, and I'm still shocked.

Is just another pathetic human being with a comfy gig at FOX.

You have to hand it to old Rupie there, he sure knows pathetic when he sees it.

Did you see Old School and think you learned everything you needed to know about rap or hip-hop? Would the money be collected in a green hat?

Actually...i can see you getting drucking funk and running down the street naked (and not in nearly as funny a way as Will Ferrell), so maybe this is all just a case of projection.

Or you are just a moron. Both work for me.

I'm just superstitious enough to hedge my bets.

Obama is doing NOTHING that would shut these people up. More & more people are listening to these idiots and NOTHING from Obama.

My grandfather always said, "base your judgement on a persons actions, NOT their words.

When is Obama going to do something?? When is he going to show some leadership.

phony, Xtian smirk behind it all. "I got mine already, but give me more money and maybe I'll tell you how to get what I've got. But only if you're a white, true believer."

I wonder if anyone asked the huckster what he thought "Cat Scratch Fever" was about after he played the song with ted nugent. I'm sure it's a good and Christian song, just like "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang", and nothing at all like the hip hop of those awful minorities.

Just spouting any old racist shit that pops into your head? BTW, I don't recall general hiphop style including "great old big hats." Try doo-rags. 'Great big old hats' is what your asshole cowboy friends wear, dude.

Edit: Wait wait! I get it!
Huck thinks hiphop equals pimping. He probably was thinking of a big old purple hat with a feather in it. Wrong style group Huck. You think the Pres is hanging with playas. What an asshole.

Don't forget the pointy ones his Klan buddies and dunce kids wear...

miss_kitty's picture

and backed off it. I think the moron confusing hiphop with playas is pathetic and ignorant enough. Throwing a dash of Klan on top, well, it's probably the right thing to do.

Maybe they do asshole. You would not know if someone did not not take all their deductions, or wrote a check for an amount over their tax bill, and just gave it to the govt. They allow people to do that on the long form.
This guy, I forgot to say too, is the Prince of Dorkness. 100% pure dork meat. Trying so hard to be cool, and he calls a bunch of the President's friends 'hiphop,' with an implication they are flamboyant pimps and hos. Really dorky.

MikeD's picture

I think that a lot of Obama supporters over estimate the degree of racism in the rights attacks on Obama. I remember the visceral hatred they had for Clinton and I would bet anything that they would attack any democratic president ruthlessly.

However, when I see words like this its clear that racism still plays a big part. And it seems to be getting worse. Why don't they just call him an uppity N word and get it over with.

seevee's picture

I think the racism is underestimated.

jayneen's picture

Sorry MikeD but we black folks know racism when we see and hear it contrary to what some folks say. Racism has NOT been eliminated and will not be as long as the "old school" folks are still around...you know...the ones who wouldnt mind lynching someone who is "different" from them. The younger generation is more in tune with equality for all but their parents or grandparents...not so much. Unless you are African American, you have NOT experienced racism.

margarine's picture

That whole thing has been such a clusterfuck. You play any of those scenes to the average young person today, any race, and they're going to see this as a bunch of old, bigoted fools. Particularly because white youth, for example, is a huge, huge portion of hip hop record sales. This ceiling that exists for fools like Huckabee is much thinner for generations that have grown up with hip hop.

As for his last little rap at the end, don't quit your day job. Or maybe you should quit that too and just stay home.

All of this really ignores who was there anyway. Fox Nation's headline image for this showed three or four African American men and only one is actually a musician.

But, you know, they all look the same to Fox.

mcnairbo's picture

Yeah Mike, you'd never do anything so trashy would you? Oh, wait.....didn't I see, and hear, you playing that filthy ditty of Ted Nugents, Cat scratch fever with him on your family show on Fox? Something about stroking pussy fur?????

cpinva's picture

mr. huckabee is well compensated for his racist comments. he isn't a complete fool.

verylargehat's picture

I don't care if he is religious or even a "man of the cloth." Mike Huckabee is a bastard. He is an ignorant racist, a fraud of a Christian and he is an affront to logic and reason.

g-man's picture

Why Rev. Huck is so concerned about the unemployed he must be donating heavily to Food Banks and volunteering at Soup Kitchens. Huck, you're turning into a socialist. Jeezus loves you even more.
