The kabuki theater from House Republican freshman on raising the debt limit continues -- GOP congressmen show up at White House, want plan:

While President Obama and Congressional GOP leaders continue to negotiate a debt ceiling deal behind the scenes, several House Republican freshmen are growing impatient.

Nearly 20 of them ventured to the gates of the White House Tuesday with a letter in hand to the president demanding the he immediately deliver Congress a written proposal to raise the debt ceiling.

“Given the significance of our debt-driven crisis and the historic importance of the negotiations, we believe it is imperative that the work towards any agreement be as transparent as possible so that American people have a chance for careful evaluation of the process free from political posturing,” the members wrote in the letter.

Rep. Tom Reed, who led the freshman lawmakers to the White House, told reporters the group doesn’t care if opposing a debt ceiling increase harms their reelection chances.

“We don’t care about reelection,” he said. “We felt it was incumbent to come to the White House because this is a critical issue.”

Members of the group added they will not agree to any debt ceiling proposal unless there are detailed spending cuts and timelines involved.

Apparently they don't think their leader John Boehner is capable of negotiating for them if they're pulling stunts like this.

Is it the President's job to write legislation now?

Oh ok, well just to humor them I'd write this down on a piece of paper and hand it to them:
Dear Congress,

Raise the debt ceiling.

Sincerely,
President Barrack Obama

P.S. If you would also like me to do your job and write the 2012 Budget, I'll turn it in next week with my book report.

P.P.S. F*** off.

short, sweet, and direct to the point.............and, with a slight touch of respect (as respectful as this bunch deserves). I like it.

Tomorrow, I'm going to camp outside my bosses door demanding a pay increase. I'll let you know how that turns out.

trouble is unless Obama totally gets rid of Medicare (which is looking more and more a probability) and SS (ditto) and Medicaid (double ditto)...

they won't have a thing to do with anything Obama proposes. Oh yes, he has to NOT want to raise taxes either...

If we do end up defaulting...I can't wait to hear from that idiot relative of mine...not to mention, supposedly several states, including the one she lives in is on Moody's :Down -rating" chopping block BEFORE any actual federal default.

South Carolina is another one. Because of their close monetary (?) ties to the govt.....

I think their constituents should be deeply concerned that their representatives have no clue how a bill is written or how it becomes law. Deeply concerned.

Can these gomers read? Maybe they should just nail their letter on the door a la Martin Luther or throw them through the window with a flaming cocktail a la Ku Klux Klan. This isn't government, this is lunacy! If it were legal we could maybe sell them into slavery like they want to do to the elderly, the disabled, and the poor. It's amazing what the Koch dollars can buy.

stewartm0205's picture

For a few million dollars the Koch brothers have totally corrupted one of the two political party. And people think its a good idea to let the rich keep all of their money when some of them are using it to destroy America. Image if this kind of damageto our political system was done by some foreign power, we would be at war with them right now.

Ape-Man's picture

Exactly - the rich need lower taxes to bribe elected officials with until their take-over is complete.

‎63% of the National Debt is owed to the American people. The last few administrations have simply borrowed trillions of dollars from the Social Security fund to finance huge tax cuts for the rich, along with a few wars. Now rescumlicans want to tell the people who have given the money to Social Security fund that they don't want to pay them the money that they have invested. The rich and the military industrial complex have been given these funds, and now they refuse to pay them back.

You'll never hear this from rescumlicans because they don't want their friends to be obligated to pay it back. Rescums do everything they can to convince people that we are 1 step away from China foreclosing. Just so you know, China holds between 7% and 8% of the debt.

Rescumlicans are either uninformed, stupid or just a flat out liar. Personally, I lean towards them being liars... could they just be stupid?

I guess we are dealing with 10 year olds here. Give me what I want or I am going to go outside and eat ants. If it isn't time to follow the 14th amendment now it never will be. These folks should be arrested as the terrorists that they are. We don't have OSBL to destroy us anymore, we have the tea baggers that are going to bring down this country. ARREST THEM!!!

rogerk1941's picture

It would be to see how many of the House freshpersons could correctly cite Article V of the constitution as would be required to institute the "...Balance..." part of this joke.

Here's a study guide:

To Propose Amendments

Two-thirds of both houses of Congress vote to propose an amendment.

To Ratify Amendments

Three-fourths of the state legislatures approve it

Actually, the steps are: 2/3 House approval
2/3 Senate approval Not likely
President signs VETO
3/4 of states ratify and give up the idea that the feds have their back
in an emergency.

bobc2443's picture

Actually the President has no role in the Constitutional Amendment process but irregardless it is a very difficult and time consuming thing to accomplish. It can take up to 7 years. So I am sure all these ignorant tea party congressmen have no clue as to how the process works. I am serious when I say these guys are terrorists with the intent to overthrow our government. When is anyone going to recognize this?

ronhohn's picture

... that one of the teas' requirements is that it pass both houses, by 2/3rds before 2 August?

when elected officials don't listen. Look how much respect these CONS have for their constituents. They can feel the abject helplessness that voters/protesters in Wisconsin and Michigan and Ohio and other states have endured under their thug tactics.
Have any of you read this little article:http://news.yahoo.com/wisconsins-scott-walker-concedes-mistakes-defends-policies-213914690.html What these guys don't realize is that a State or a Country is by definition no where near being the same as a corporation. And as such should not be run like one. It amazes me they claim the Dems are for the "elite" yet they are the ones who think the "elite" (that would be the top earners in society, right?) should pay no taxes.

ronspri's picture

The right wing policy right down to the rank and file is to shamelessly worship the elite while shamelessly demeaning the poor or less fortunate. The later of which most of them fit in themselves. It's one more reason why they are irrelevant.

Republicans are liars and simply cannot be trusted.

ronhohn's picture

Remember when you gave all the money to the rich, and it would trickle town to the middle class workers - eventually?
Well, eventually never happened, but we are back at the same concept. Give all the tax breaks to the rich job creators, and jobs will trickle down. Since 2001 this is still just a concept.

Games the republicans play ... Sociopathic liars.

"we don't care if we get reelected because our convictions matter more to us and so we are just going to grand stand and play this silly game of pretending to confront the president with our country killing ideas no matter what anybody says or no matter what the consequences" "so there" "waaaa waaaaa wa".

What a mountain of horse manure.

"We don't care about getting reelected"

Here is a few more things you rat pig cowards can do to prove you are really serious about your convictions.

1) Give up your own tax payer government healthcare
2) Put forth legislation that ends all healthcare for all Washington politicians.
3) Give up your government salaries and get a second job.
4) Refuse all future social security or medicare benefits for yourselves and your families.
5) Kick lobbyists out of the government and end tax welfare for corporations.
6) Drive your grandmothers into the woods to die with a few cans of cat food and a blanket.
7) Send your children to work a 60 work week at around 5 years old.
8) Strip all the regulations out of everything government does to keep us safe.
9) Lick the behind of every CEO and Wall Street huckster then turn them around and finish the job.
10) Above all make sure that you grand stand and huff and puff until the US economy tanks so you can say you personally shut down government spending.

surgethis's picture

This little piggy when to FOX NEWS to spew his feeble ideas and lies.

This little piggy went to the House of Representatives to get fatter on tax payer money and tell even bigger lies.

This little piggy went to the Koch brother to fluff them and pay allegiance and get the talking points about even bigger lies.

And this little piggy went and told even bigger lies outside the White House where he huffed and puffed to make himself look bigger for the media.

And the last little piggy went wa, wa, wa, all the way back to his selfish, uneducated, fat tea bagger life, and was never ever heard from ever ever again.

The end.

So a handful of Republicans who oppose raising the debt ceiling gather outside the White House to demand a written proposal from the President to do the very thing they oppose doing. So that they can make political points by voting against it. They're really earning their keep.

Oh, this version ends at 2:20, but in the longer version the are seen stamping their feet and whining "but we dont know hooOOWWwwwww!!!!! Bar-RAAAACK!!! I dont wanna!!!" Stupid Freshmen.

johnlal's picture

Congress is supposed to deliver a bill to the president that they think he will sign-- or that they have enough votes to override his veto.
These guys are demanding the president to send a bill to Congress, which they are already determined to defeat. It's no wonder they think government is broken. They don't know how to do it.

Magginkat's picture

Not one of those scumbag Tea Baggers would have the guts to go to the White House alone. They believe in gang rape. Dirty rotten bastards. who are laughing at us for being dumb enough to let these fools rule.
