From Hardball Dec. 3, 2008. Chris talks to Joan Walsh and Michelle Bernard about George Bush's interview with Charlie Gibson on ABC.

Matthews: Joan I'm not sure what the message there is. Is the President saying in retrospect that he would not have invaded and occupied Iraq as a matter of geopolitical policy had there been no weapons of mass destruction? Is he saying that that was the single definitive reason why we went into that country and occupied it? Is that what he's saying?

Walsh: Yes. It seems like it. Charlie Gibson did follow up with that question Chris and he wouldn't quite answer it. But I just have to say that is the most astonishing, buck passing, self pitying answer I could have imagined. He acts as though the Intelligence agencies where some wholly owned subsidiary of some other administration, rather than his, his responsibility. He acts like people outside the administration agreed when he was responsible for pushing that faulty intelligence, for stove piping it and ignoring everything. That any kind of doubt, any kind of dissent and really cooking the books in terms of the case for WMDs. I mean it's really scandalous how he's distancing himself.

Somebody had to say it. Of course Matthews and Bernard are a day late and a dollar short with their commentary that follows. Matthews does some truth telling now when he was a cheer leader for the invasion along with the rest of them before we went in there. Bernard thinks that somehow Bush was trying to apologize to Powell during the interview. Yeah, sure he was.

Tweety does run. It's a win-win for everyone. 1. He'll have to give up his show. 2. He could lose in the primary. 3. If-a big if- he wins, the Democrats get another seat. 4. Even if he does win, as a freshman senator, his lone voice in the Senate would be muted by sheer numbers. Run, Tweety, run!

They vindictively and proactively went after ANY dissenting voice. That is CRIMINAL! Remember Plamegate? People glazed over on that one but, the bottom line was it was Bush/Cheney going after a dissenter. Amb. Wilson went called Bush on the BULLSHIT INTELLIGENCE he was trying to feed the American people in his State of the Union Address. Then Cheney et all went after Wilson's CIA wife and outed her in retribution. It was POLITICAL INTIMIDATION pure and simple.

And Fuck Powell for being part of the BULLSHIT INTELLIGENCE. Good soldier... yeah, right

Any fool who had eyes could see what the deal was.

RICHARD CLARK DESERVES A MEDEL OF HONOR (if it wasn't already so sullied by George Tenet... who received it from Bush for his BULLSHIT INTELLIGENCE)

To the HAGUE!

She makes the same good points even on her own and doesn't have to go all ADHD like TV and Tweety insist.

That said, I generally agree with Tweety's crib notes.

It's like the old people say (old: over 80, fought the Japanese and Germans in World War 2) "Bush is a thief. His dad is a thief. His granddad is a thief. They are selling out America because America will sell out". Bush is a criminal. Plain and simple. Like Walsh indicated it is thievery. Real Citizen says it best. This act of treason should be pursued and prosecuted and executed. It's beyond travesty. It's plain to see. Goebbels is proud of the whole Bush family. "And when we're caught slam the door and shock the world as loud as you can"(paraphrase).
I'm with the WW2 vets. This guy, and his fourth reich needs to be brought in. He's laughing at America. He's not trying to fix it. He is THE CAUSE OF THIS. The old men are right! We've been treasoned! God give us the courage to change the things we can.

Nixon was pushed out of office for covering up the watergate break-in (an attempt to rig the election)

Reagan lost his memory once it was found out that he "may have" approved illegally funneling monies to contra mercinaries in nicaragua (iran-contra-gate)

Clinton was impeached for blowjob-gate

Now Bush lies us into a war that has bankrupted us, killed more americans than 9/11, maimed thousands upon thousands of american soldiers, and sent perhaps 1/2 million Iraq men women and children to their graves. ... and the only punishment is ... what? nothing.

He needs to be prosecuted.

If he truly believes in God he better be asking for forgiveness and if we have a just God then Bush will burn in hell for all eternity. When I saw my first dead c hild coming out of Iraq then Bush should be condidered a murderer.

Much as I detest Tweety, he was not a cheerleader for the invasion of Iraq. He was one of the very few talking heads who were not.

but I agree that he carried a pretty consistant line of criticism against the Iraq invasion... and then occupation... it's the only reason that I still watch him from time to time.

As for Joan Walsh... she is not afraid to speak the truth. Bush is a war criminal, and should be treated (and indicted) as such.

I would just say that I disagree. He was against the war later on but he was not an honest broker when it mattered, before we invaded. The only one at MSNBC who truly spoke out against invading Iraq was Phill Donahue and they fired him for it.

You have forgotten that Matthews was against the Iraq invasion, as thebewilderness points out. Of course, when he saw Chimpy in that flight suit, you can tell from his commentary that he obviously saw little starbursts coming through the screen, but he was initially opposed to the war.

Joan Walsh is an embarrassment. We had to sit through an entire year of her condescending lecturing of Barack Obama on the dignity of middle-aged menopausal cranky bitchy Hillary voters.

Give it a break, where's Carly Fiorina when you need her?

You poor thing. That must have been awful for you. Maude forbid you should have to put up with having to see or hear about " the dignity of middle-aged menopausal cranky bitchy Hillary voters. "

That must have been so dreadful for you to have to be aware of all those disobedient women. Must have rattled your world view and sense of propriety in the most maude awful worst way.

Bush and his cohorts will never take responsability for anything they have done to this or any other country they have destroyed
its in their wireing or best intrest not to take responsability its all about self intrest like father like son like rove
I just hope the hague decideds to act on these criminals these torturers these sub human piles of garbage if it waz good enough for the nazi;s to be prosecuted its good enough for the bush crowd that includes novak

1. i'm absolutely fed up with the bush dynasty.

2. w will go down in history as absolutely the worst president this country has ever had on all counts. and there is nothing that his brother will ever be able to do to change that legacy.

3. w wasn't trying to offer a back door apology to Collin Powell because george w bush is a sociopath and doesn't give a fucking shit about collin powell or anyone else. and let's not forget that bush awarded tennent with a medal of honor for his role on manufacturing intelligence to support bush's war in Iraq.

4. bush intended to go to war in Iraq before he even got into the oval office. cheney wanted it long before they were there too.

5. bush said "it's not about oil." but, going to Iraq was all about oil. what bush said was an outrageous lie, like so many other things he has said. in fact, has he ever told the truth about anything? i very much doubt it. not only is he a sociopath of the highest order, but he is also a pathological liar. he can't tell the truth because he doesn't know what the truth is.
