More compassionate conservatism from the teabaggers. Isn't this special?
Grand Rapids resident Sharon Downer said, "[The health care bill is] going to tax the system way beyond what we have. For some reason, liberals seem to think people deserve paychecks who don't work and that's silly considering I don't want my hard earned money, my parents money, my siblings money to go to people who don't deserve it."
Hmmmm... I wonder just who she thinks those lazy "people" are that don't deserve anyone's help. I guess this gal will sign a statement right now that says if she is ever disabled she'll turn down that government "paycheck", right? We wouldn't want her contributing to the lazy people living off of the government dole.
Tea Party Express brings out thousands:
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Thousands gathered in Riverside Park Saturday with one goal: express their discontent to spending decisions by the state and federal government.
West Michigan conservatives welcomed the Tea Party Express to Grand Rapids. The nation-wide tour hit up four other Michigan cities before cruising into Grand Rapids. The group Tea Party of West Michigan organized Saturday's event, which welcomed the nation-wide tour.
Before the Tea Party Express arrived, participants listened to patriotic songs and took advantage of an open mic. One by one, tea partiers took to what organizers called the soap box and expressed their opinions.
Many had one thing in common: a desire for less encompassing government programs, most notably when it came to health care reform. Read on...

This girl in the video is all but 16 years old. These people are no better than the little kids that Phelps and Westboro brings to the "God Hates Fags" rallies parroting what their parents tell them to too. It's getting beyond low. Maybe we should pull a Malkin and hunt her down and ask her some real questions. What's next a little six year old holding a sign calling Obama a socialist or even worse Hitler. Wait, it's been done already?
is intended to be a factual statement
anyone "hunting" someone down to ask them questions but you're right, I'm sure she's been spoonfed this crap by her parents. I don't know how old she is but she's pretty young.
I would never pull a Malkin nor advocate it. Just pointing out if we were like they were this girl would be in hunted down.
is intended to be a factual statement
got ya. Agreed.
It's called "Hitler Youth".
...would be too busy spending her parents money at the mall, yaking all day long on her cell or in her bedroom filming a self pleasure secession on you-porn.
*bookmarks you-porn*
Thanks!
The crowd began to shout, "Keep the government's hand off my government Medicare and my government Medicaid and my State and employer paid Disability Insurance.
If she's lucky she will go off to college and discover that the world is much much bigger than Southeastern Michigan and its racist, hyper religious ethos. (And yes, I've spent time there.)
Southeastern Michigan? Did you fly in for a day? This is West Michigan. As the crow flies, we're closer to Milwaukee and Chicago than we are to Detroit and southeastern Michigan.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
that gave the speech for h.r. 3950? What's the difference? What is the difference between Dems teaching their children compared to Repubs?
Dems aren't overflowing with misinformation. You should see the e-mails I get from my teabagger landlord. One recent e-mail contained all kinds of false information about Target Corp. simply because Target declined to contribute money to the travelling Vietnam memorial wall. Some of the false information: Target Corp is a French-owned company. (It's owned by the Dayton family in Minneapolis). Target only gives to gay charities. (Not true.) Target won't donate to the Salvation Army. (Target donates generously to SA) and so forth. I have never seen, sent or received a similarly misguided e-mail spouting lefty disinfo. So, either this teabaggers are too stoopid to live, or they are lying. Which is it?
I've already seen signs with Obama painted in clown face and a Hitler sign held by what looks like 5 or 6 year olds. You're right, this girl couldn't tell you anything about the constitution or the health care bill. As far as them being spoonfed this shit as kids, look no than Jonathan Krohn, the little conservative warrior for the right. He wrote a book at 13 yrs old about conservatism and why liberalism is bad. Really, at 13 years old. This kid was home schooled and taught this crap by his parents. I've listened to him speak on C-span and he does like the tea partiers, he spouts the non-sense talking points in defense of conservatism, you know, freedom, liberby, free markets, the ideology of Ronald Reagan (who by the way this kid never met or knew since Reagan died before he was born). These right wingers are destroying their kids minds before the liberal educational system get to them, as they say.
They're taught to memorize words. Some education, huh? Apparently, that's all the teaching their parents got, too.
but they also have no morals and not enough intelligence to make rational decisions. Everytime I see these people I feel shame. Shame that such selfish stupid people can even vote. Only in the fascist states of america can you have such idiots walking around wasting oxygen, food and water. I wonder if their parents were this stupid? Look what they did. This is a sad time when the big banks are screwing everyone and these idiots have nothing better to do then make themselves look more and more stupid by following the fox/GOP insanity. If fox says it that is good enough for these fools. Shame shame shame.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that has killed the economy and is making slaves of us all while the teabagging crowd shows they have no intelligence.
Something small like the census that even Alabama conservatives could pencil in the circles. Ten questions, you get 70% you can vote. 69 or below you don't vote and you get your driver's license taken away.
1.) How many US Senators are there? _2 _50
2.) Pabst Blue Ribbon is _Imported _Exported _Both _Neither
3.)

I agree with the test but I don't think it should be cultural because some people never heard of Pabst.
Make the test about at least knowing where a candidate stand on an issue so we know at least you know what you think you're voting for. There's no guarantee the politicians are honest or sincere but you should at least know what they say they stand for.
1) Al Gore has stated he believes global warming is real and should be addressed.

2) George W. Bush is in favor of the death penalty.

3) Dick Cheney was a fearless soldier in Vietnam whose courageous actions brought the war to a successful conclusion with the US as overwhelming victors.

but true.
... what with that silly "good Samaritan" parable of his. What was he thinking, having the Samaritan helping the poor, beat-up guy in the ditch and spending his own money on helping the guy get well again?
In real life, the Samaritan would look down on the guy in the ditch and say, "Hey, this is probably your own fault, you don't deserve anybody's help, certainly none of my money. I earned it, and you didn't. So, good luck with those wounds. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya."
tea partier, I have no problem with good Samaritans, I have and do give my money and effort and time to helping others. I do have a problem with being forced to do so. One is helping others of your own free will, the other is slavery.
.
you think that police, fire departments, public safefy, schools, parks, libraries, highways, roads, traffic lights, the military, national monuments, border patrol, etc.. all are forms of extortion and make you a slave?
So I assume that as a tea partier and someone worried about how the government spends money you were against the invasion of Iraq and protested the war. Also, you are disgusted at the way that contractors have stolen from the taxpayers in the Middle East (and else where). Please verify the above.
are or should be paid for by state and local taxes, the Constitution does not grant the Fed gov the power to tax and spend for them. The military and post roads yes.
that's not tyranny, but when the feds do it for something other than roads and the military, it's not?
Interesting.
yes. See the 10th amendment and the preamble to the Bill of Rights.
And it is also easier to restrain a state gov. than a federal one.
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
have the power to lay and collect taxes without apportionment. Where in that amendment or elsewhere in the Constitution does it give them the power to spend it wherever they like?
Art 1 Sec 8 states what their enumerated powers are.
"Current income taxes are imposed under these constitutional provisions (16th amendment) and various sections of Subtitle A of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986."
So easy, a caveman on Wikipedia can do it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax_in_th...
how taxes work (at least from a layman point of view). But the 16th amendment while it gives congress the power to tax without apportionment, does not grant any other powers to the fed gov. They still have to comply with the enumerated powers listed in art 1 sec 8. Well at least they are supposed to by law.
they're never really very intellectually honest because they pick and choose what they support even given their very strict Randian statements.
They're usually OK with repubicans, no matter how much they spend. Democrats, not so much.
They refuse to admit that we CAN do things collectively for the good of all society. Like national parks and libraries and free birth control. But for some folks, even if you can PROVE that it makes America a better place, it doesn't matter because they think they have lost some freedom.
It's like the gun nuts that gather every six months at the giant gun show. Year after year after year to wring their hands about... gun laws.
are unconstitutional, the only land the fed gov is Constitutionally allowed to own is D.C., Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, Shipyards, and other needful buildings.
Libraries (except for the Library of Congress)are ran at the state and local level. Birth control should be also.
And gun laws........... The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
They let anyone(except minorities with brain cells/honor)into that organization.
we let anyone one in. Even die hard liberals are welcome to attend and join.
...for me Tim. Why does your party completely fail the test on social diversity/representation? Also where were you folks when Bush pissed on the Constitution and waged two illegal wars off budget, on America's credit?
about my complaints. But I will admit I never tried to get a protest group started.
And I do know minorities that are members of the Tea parties. Here is a video made by one Tea party group
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMdPTpOyUk4
Can you tell me why blacks voted for Obama by roughly 97%? Where was the diversity there?
But one question, why do you call them illegal wars? They were authorized and funded by Congress. While they may have been immoral or wrong, they are legal.
Maybe you should explain why white men overwhelmingly vote for conservatives.
on breakdown by sex, but the Caucasian vote was split relatively equally.
I'm talking in general. However, I can provide a map demonstrating the percentage of whites that voted for Obama:
http://yglesias.thinkprogress.org/archives/20...
The only areas where white men voted in large amounts for Obama were predictable - California for instance.
Compare it to this chart of those who voted, but were not white men:
http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/8131/whiteme...
As for blacks, they vote Democratic in droves because the Republican party is build on fear and racism of the black community.
A few things to think about...
Is it possible that regional and cultural factors play a role in politics? Is it possible that some of those same factors are confounded with race? I don't have the answers but that may explain SOME of the racial divide in the political arena.
There are some racial implications here and there in this post that make it sound as though conservatism is synonymous with racism. Such a suggestion while not as overt as outright racism seems to be derived from the same vain as racism itself. It's true there are ideas attached to the conservative and liberal labels but its a stretch to equate true conservatism with racism.
How do you feel about PEPFAR?
Flashback to 2002: Congress gave President Bush the authority to "defend the national security of the US from the threat posed by Iraq" and "enforce all relevant UN Security Council resolutions."
That "threat" (weapons of mass destruction) was a lie - the weapons were never found. The war was based on a lie, therefore it was illegal.
WMDs were never found, but I'll see if I can find the link, there is verified reports of convoys of semis leaving Iraq for Iran right before we invaded. And it is known that Iran stored military jets and other equipment for Iraq. The Iran gov was complaining that they wouldn't give them back.
Also other countries intelligence agencies agreed that there were most likely WMDs in Iraq from their own sources.
Because McCain, Palin and the racist Republicans suck and have treated us as if were still in the Ante Bellum South.
Black Americans have voted for a member of another race light years greater than White Americans have.
Can you tell me why blacks voted for Obama by roughly 97%?
Hmmmm... maybe they're highly intelligent voters.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5p3OB6roAg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm1KOBMg1Y8
But to be fair I'm sure you could find clips of just as uniformed Repubs.
because in the over 2 centuries of this country's existence, it's the first guy running that looked like them? Also, consider the alternative. Why are you of the mind that a specific ethnicity needs to split their vote to be considered diverse? Straw man. Here's the counter straw man: Can you tell me why blacks voted for the white candidate in elections past by exactly 100% (for as long as they've been ALLOWED to vote)? Where was the diversity there?
Can you tell me why all women voters have voted for the male presidential candidate in the general election for as long as WE'VE been allowed to? Hell we make up 50+% of the population. Where is the diversity there?
me-oww!
Uh, Timmy, you might want to look up the 16th amendment to the Constitution - you know, the one that establishes an income tax. (Pssstt.......amendments ARE part of the constitution)
I guess the only amendments you were aware of were the first 10.......
the 16th granted additional powers to tax. It did not grant any more power than that. They are still limited by art 1 sec 8 as to what they can spend it on.
Remember to check your brains at the door so you fit in with the other teabaggers.
You are being forced by a document you claim to defend. Odd, eh?
But I answered your question regarding the 16th above.
Nice try, though. Most of us can see through the false garbage spewed by the "teabaggers." You are an embarrassment.
you linked an article that explained how fed income tax works. I never debated that. I stated what they were allowed to spend it on. Which are the enumerated powers under art 1 sec 8
least part of the Constitution, how much of the case law interpreting it have you read? Huh? What was that you just said? What is "case law?" That's what I thought you'd say. Nothing is a simple as a simple mind.
Do you have any in particular you would like to discuss?
[How about staying on topic? Sitemonitor]
but they also have no morals and not enough intelligence to make rational decisions. Everytime I see these people I feel shame. Shame that such selfish stupid people can even vote. republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness that has killed the economy and is making slaves of us all while the teabagging crowd shows they have no intelligence.
They're uneducated, and therefore easily lead. They never learned to think for themselves, and will readily accept any excuse fed them which would explain why their lives are so bad.
Which is precisely what Hitler and the Nazis did to the German people.
about making free people slaves? Forcing someone to work to pay for others is slavery.
any sitting around collecting tens of thousands of dollars from tax payers, would there?
Your definition, right from the Frank Luntz indoctrination video, belittles the experiences of the people who were actually enslaved
and BTW while you have spent the last decade interpreting the Constitution and cleaning your gun, the people you voted for 'bankrupted' our Country financially and morally, and you still think you're the expert?
Want a Country that has ALL your 'conservative' policies and even the Steve Forbe's 'flat tax'?
Move to Iraq, that 'conservative paradise'!

Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Does anyone know what percentage of the cost of insuring 30 million americans will be paid by the government and what percentage will be paid by the insured?
It seems like the majority of the cost is paid for by the insured.
Probably would have been better to go the single payer route, then everyone who pays taxes helps fund it.
But we're too enlightened for that. Wouldn't want any of those shifty lazy poor people taking "our" hard earned jobs, "our" jobs, and "our" women. Sorry, did that last part actually come out? </snark>
Fucking racist rednecks.
Too many bags and not enough tea.
Don't understand how the rethugs think 50% of the country is sitting on their asses raking in tens of thousands per year in welfare while the poor, suffering billionaires struggle mightily to create jobs and wealth for everyone else...
Stoopid
that 50% of the country is sitting on their asses raking in 10s of thousands a year. But according to the latest estimates almost 50% of the workers in this country pay no federal income tax. And I can't remember the percentage but I think it's around 20-30% get more back on tax returns than they pay into it.
It's the middle class that has the burden, straw man.
1% of earners pay 40% of the total amount of income tax collected, the top 10% pays about 90%. The bottom 50% pays only 3%. So you tell me.
Huh?
http://www.ntu.org/tax-basics/who-pays-income...

http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2009...
There numbers come from the IRS and the CBO
Oh and I was wrong on the 20-30% that received more back than they paid in. In 2006 it was 40% that had a negative share of the income tax. From the 2nd link.
You're kidding, right? Wait--you're NOT kidding. Duh!
came from the IRS and the CBO
Here is the IRS website if you'd like to check the numbers yourself
http://www.irs.gov/taxstats/indtaxstats/artic...
From the chart linked there
2007 the top 1% paid 40.42% top 5% 60.63% top 10% 71.22%
Is the IRS a neutral enough site for you?
It's true that the top 10% pay about 70% of the personal income taxes. It is also true that they control about 87% of all personal wealth in this country. Therefor, they should pay about 87% of personal income taxes. They are getting a sweet deal.
Since I provided mine it's only fair.
But if you are correct, why? Shouldn't everyone pay equally? Why should 40% get back more than they paid?
If you go out to dinner with friends and you all order hamburgers, do you split the bill equally? Or do you determine who pays what by how much they make?
Paying taxes is like a drop in the bucket to them. Warren Buffet said it best:
"I see nothing wrong with those who have been blessed by this society to give a larger portion of their income to the society than somebody that's working very, very hard to make ends meet."
Arul Menezes, a Microsoft investor:
"It embarrasses me to go into a grocery store and know that the person at the checkout stand is paying a higher tax rate than I am."
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/busines...
Greedy rich people SHOULD be embarrassed, because they contribute NOTHING to society. People like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and the like are admirable.
If I was wealthy, I'd GLADLY spend my money to better the planet and society.
But are you aware that an increase in incomes taxes tends to lead the wealthy to disproportionately shelter more money in tax free havens? I think it was Buffet that made some comment about staying in a lower bracket than his employees. Can't be sure on that...
"If I was wealthy, I'd GLADLY spend my money to better the planet and society."
That's good, but I think that's a statement about personal charities.
Revised..."If I was wealthy, I'd GLADLY ALLOW my money to BE SPENT BY X,Y, and Z to better the planet and society IN A WAY THEY THINK IS BEST."
Just food for thought.
with them giving a larger portion. I don't agree that they should be forced to do so.
I'm far from wealthy but I do spend my money and time helping people out. I grow a garden about 4-5x larger than I need, and donate the excess. I have and will continue to help out habitat for humanity. I donate to the Salvation Army. And other things.
Unless mine is more, then I pay more. What do you do? Try to get change for a penny?
Pretty much the same as you usually.
1. Taxes right now are the lowest they have been since before WWII, so you must be kidding about how rough your tax burden is.
2. That said, the percentage of taxes that impact the middle class (persons making less than $400k from all sources of income) is the highest it has been since WWII.
3. The top marginal rate is the lowest it has been since WWII.
4. The 10th'er shit is... well... bullshit. The States rights argument has been shot down time and time again by the Supreme Court. The 10th Amendment is superseded by the 14th Amendments equal protection clause.
5. Are you familiar with the concept of marginal utility? Most of us (me included) have income that roughly match the things we have to pay for and maybe if we try really hard we can save or invest 5-10% of our income. If I happen to earn one more dollar, I may be able to invest 10% of that additional dollar. For folks making in excess of what you need to pay for a nice house, a car or two, energy, food, etc... well, those folks have a marginal utility of 100% (or 100% of the next dollar they earn they can save or invest). This is why we should have a income tax that is actually progressive. The Tea Partier message seems to be "hey, fuck us. I don't want rich people having to pay for anything, but I am happy paying for everything in society myself.:
6. The "47% of Americans pay no Federal Income Tax" sort of ignores the fact that ALL americans who make under $110,000 pay 7.8% of their income to FICO and ALL of federal entitlements are funded by FICO.
7. For the top .5%, about 80% of the real income of those individuals comes in the form of capital gains, which are taxed at 15%.
So... teabaggers.... you guys are really out to get yourselves and your kids. We used to ask the people who used the most of our infrastructure and freedom to pay the most to insure that we all have the freedom and the opportunity to make the most of ourselves. You folks really need to take a class in macroeconomic theory and to remember that the top marginal rate in 1950 impacted 400 individuals.. now it impacts 4 billion.
"For some reason, liberals seem to think people deserve paychecks who don't work...."
She's right, damnit! I've had it with these lazy assed paychecks that don't work. Time for them to get off the dole and start contributing to society.
If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you're gonna get selfish, ignorant leaders.

How did she feel about the Billion Dollars that went missing in Iraq?
How does she feel about the trillion dollars of Defense Dept money that Rumsfeld said was unaccounted for in his speech on Sept 10,2001?
Just remember, if they just started bitching when the mulatto guy was elected, and not in the 8 years of fiscally irresponsible orgy proceeding that event, you might as well ignore them, since they don't have an intellectual "leg to stand on." Chalk it up to ignorance, bigotry or a combination thereof...
This may seem obvious but, these people are ideologically driven and mis-informed by their fox news and talk radio. They just make stuff up to create a strawman and then proceed to go crazy about hypotheticals that do not exist in reality.
I swear, there are so many times I see the existing facts and hear tea baggers come up with opinions that have no relation to any facts. Facts are simply too inconvenient for them.
Today DJIA hit the highest level since September 2008 and the NASDAQ is at its highest level since July 2008, meanwhile on Planet Tea Bag, HITLER OBAMA'S SOCIALIST NAZI COMMUNIST DEMOCRAT POLICIES ARE DESTROYING THE ECONOMY!!!
I figure its either:
1) Ignorance/stupidity
or
2) Malice
or maybe a combination thereof. It doesn't take much effort to realize that the *President* isn't a Nazi or a Socialist, and yet these people don't even bother to try. I'd almost rather it be ignorance, because it's a pretty pathetic concept that so many of my neighbors could be that horrible ...
Even more pressing than realizing the president isn't a socialist is the realization that in most places socialism isn't a dirty word, but another form of political philosophy.
Some people are certainly misinformed, and some are certainly guilty of doling out misinformation. But it's unfair to pigeonhole political misinformation to one side of the aisle. It wasn't long ago that Obama told New Hampshire that a surgeon would rather collect 30, 40, or 50k by amputating rather than referring a diabetic to a GP. You can call it just an exaggeration if you want (an amputation would not yield a good surgeon more than 3k-an incredibly generous figure, think more $800-1500 on average).
Would it be just an exaggeration if we said the people who make a 100k/year are below the poverty level? Or does that sound like misinformation...
(1 person poverty level is $10,830 x 10 (Obama exaggeration factor)...
Both sides, especially in this "healthcare debate" (really "health insurance debate") are guilty of doling out misinformation.
The Republicans/Teabaggers push a meme of fiscal irresponsibility, unfunded mandates, "death panels" for grandma, "socialism", social darwinism (in the form of "you're paying for people who don't work for a living"), among others.
The Democrats push their own memes of things like "this will cover almost everyone", "insurance companies aren't horrible blood sucking profit seeking bastards who can be trusted to help us pay for medical expenses", "single payer doesn't exist as a viable option", "we don't need pharma price controls", etc.
Lying sacks of shit, all of them. If they were really interested in taking care of people and making sure we have the best health care possible, we would have done the following:
1) Pharma collective bargaining / price controls. Just because they can patent medicines to create artificial monopolies doesn't mean they get to bend everyone over until the patents run out.
2) Single payer. This is such a no-brainer, guys. Everyone pays taxes to fund the system, it takes care of everyone, we get collective bargaining, and everyone gets Medicare-grade coverage. No more medical bankruptcies, recissions, etc. Would have done the same as 90% of that turdfest bill that we passed.
But, no one was willing to put out either of those as viable options to do this ... so let's face the fact that our legislative bodies are staffed with corporate-sponsored automatons who would rather maintain the status quo than help the people they were elected to represent.
Maybe we deserve what we get.

My point was that the sources (blogs and talk radio) are pretty thin on the reasoning and evidence to support their points -- which means that people aren't bothering to look any further.
So they're either willfully ignorant (choosing blinders to hide any evidence to counter their chosen viewpoints) or malicious, knowing full well that the stuff they're saying is utter bunk, but attempting to push a self-serving agenda.

But if the burden of providing health care is lifted off of business's shoulders, they could afford to hire more people.
That's why we should've gone with single-payer. As far as I know the insurance companies can still gouge the employee and the employer and the doctors (Malpractice insurance) with the premiums while someone like H. Edward Hanway, CEO of Cigna got paid $14.6 million dollars, even after their company allowed a 17 year old girl Nataline Sarkiyan to die after denying her liver transplant.

Sometimes it is difficult to find a kidney that's compatible with Blue Cross. They need to make sure that the kidney is in the same network, and that the kidney has been paying into the system through premiums.
Mr. Hanway still alive?
If I had a daughter and somebody killed her, they would die, consequences be damned.
"But if the burden of providing health care is lifted off of business's shoulders, they could afford to hire more people."
Who exactly is lifting the burden off of businesses?
Hopefully, after seeing herself on TV, she will be sooo embarrassed.
Cause sooner than later, we'd find her hanging in her bedroom closet.
Female auto-asphyxiation?
Probably saw the southpark episode. huh?
to the recent Facebook episode...I did enjoy that one, especially all the TRON references.
It was especially funny to me because I just got sucked into facebook a month ago, kicking and screaming the whole way (and a friend of mine made a myspace page for me because I wouldn't participate in that trend)
Very funny and a good primer for facebook if anyone is considering.
will not do it. I won't let myself into that and all the insanity that goes with it.
Now, of course, you have to know that I said the same thing about getting a cell phone and a lap top, which I now both have.
I held out on the cell phone thing a long time too.
The one thing that is a trip about facebook is seeing people's pictures and what they did with themselves after 25 years. I haven't reached out to that many, but it is like looking at your yearbook, but with updated photos. A kind of "Where are they now?"
don't care what people who I have had no contact with for 25 years have done with themselves.
If I did care, I would have maintained contact during the 25 years.
I would hope they would feel the same about me.
Yes. BlueSam is a curmudgeon.
I see your "curmudgeoness" and raise you an active avoidance.
There are people I knew 25 years ago that I found to be unbearable, but for some reason, glommed onto me.
Puting up a Facebook billboard so they can find me again? Ummmmmm..... no.
i guess the tea partiers didn't realize they were in a city park? seems a bit progressive-fascist-socialist, if you ask me.
can't they find some private property to march around on?
...were from the 'burbs, sub- and ex- , using a park that I pay for.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Idiots like this never even think about the $trillion+ a year going to the Military Industrial Complex Welfare Queens.
Conservatives are just following the teachings of JESUS, who said:
"Screw the poor, it's my money! And how about a box of cartridges for my AK, while you're at it"?
Yes, it's true--Conservatives know Jesus. Personally.

Just like Jesus preached social darwinism. Oh, wait, that was "Supply Side Jesus".
Religion and capitalism don't mix so well, but as long as we pray real hard to win the lottery and look the other way when we come across people suffering to support our way of life, it's all good, right?

The Family's Businessman Jesus, who ties religion and business to world domination. That's what C Street's job on earth is--to prepare for Businessman Jesus' return to earth. Amen and pass the pancakes.

Hey Tea Partiers,
Please take a real stand with the courage of your so called convictions.
Get off the roads. They have likely been paid for by taxes. You cannot drive on them in good conscience.
Do not go to the emergency room if you have an emergency. Emergency rooms are partly funded by governments. You must stay home and pay whatever the private market has to offer. Or, if you do go to an emergency room, don't just pay the bill you receive. Insist on paying out-of-pocket for an actual market price of all the expensive machinery and medical technology the hospital required to check you out.
Do not inoculate your children from diseases. Vaccines require science, which is evil, and an understanding of the human body's evolutionary deficiencies, which, of course, do not exist.
Stop using public transportation when in our cities. It's socialist.
Refuse to eat any food that has been inspected by government safety regulators.
If you have a minimum wage job, refuse to accept any of your wages that surpass what you would have received on the market without the minimum wage law. (If you are unsure what that market rate would be, ask your employer.) Donate the surplus to your church, if you must, but do not keep it. It is not rightfully yours. You didn't really earn it. Your employer was forced to give it to you by the government.
Stop printing signs. It requires knowledge of a language, and that's elitist education. It's not enough just to spell everything incorrectly. You shouldn't know the alphabet to begin with, since it was likely taught to you by a socialist public school.
Stop reading this post. It is on the internets, which has not yet been taken over by private corporations. And besides, you shouldn't be reading anyway. Reading is elitist.
Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?
and you are no longer under the umbrella-protection of the US military
And don't read the bible. They are distributed by the Gideons, who enjoy a tax-exempt status and are not paying their fare share.
I may have to replace my )O(

Great article.

Damn commies and their big red trucks!
Let's remove tax deductions for student loan interest, too, since we don't want anyone judged "not deserving" to benefit from living in the US.
from Firedoglake, and worth a read.
is a poster there called "PrivateFreedom". He's very good.
I don't want my hard-earned money going to help anyone who receives any form of social security (SSI, et al), uses medicare or medicaid, Tricare (VA or otherwise), etc., and attend these fucking 'tea parties.' I'm sick of these people.
I'm disabled and recieve money from the government as a result. There is nothing more in the world I would like than to be a "contributing member of society" again. Its' easy for many people to think people like me are just milking the system and enjoy not working. However, they would be very, very, wrong and I hope that none of them have to go through the dreadful experience of having a catastrophic illness to change thier simple minds.
Unless you're [whispering] black or Mexican[/whispering].
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
I've worked for a rehab hospital for the past 5 years and, truthfully, until this employment I never realized the number of ways folks could receive disability. And another truth - I've NEVER cared about supporting anyone on disability; I always figured there must be some reason and fortunately I was healthy enough to work.
When I was 17 I was out of high school & working somewhere, and went to see my grandmother who was old enough to be receiving Social Security, and as she said then - you're working to help support me. It was a just way to put things in perspective.
are aping Harvey Milk's "soap box"... you know, the SanFran liberal that he was.
Yes, because 16 year olds know so much about how the world works.
Grand Rapids is the right-side of the state. If you started in Detroit and it was the Left-side and you move west across the state you get more conservative.
We are a mess here in this state. Obama and company totally ignore us. They figure if they ignore the problem, it will go away. Luckily, we have conservatives like these people who want to dismantle the state gov't because gov't spending is the root of all evil. Odds are we are going to get a budget-slashing conservative for governor this election cycle. Our worthless state Democratic Party has all but given up and hasn't put forward anyone remotely worth supporting. And they haven't even talked about the issues, so it's obvious they already expect to lose this fall. Which will sink us farther into the abyss.
The media isn't really covering the Democratic race for the gubernatorial nomination, but I'm really liking Lansing mayor Virg Bernero.
BTW, Grand Rapids, proper, isn't very red any longer (our city commissioners, though elected on a non-partisan basis, are all Democrats), and Kent County voted for Obama in 2008- the first time the county has voted for the Democrat running for POTUS since 1964. The traditional moderate Republicans around here who used to vote Jerry Ford into office every two years seem pretty disgusted with the teabagger branch that's taking over the GOP.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
Wonder how long she's been saving this 'hard earned money'???
with which you speak of?
