Yesterday, Senate Democrats working on health care reform reached a compromise on the public option that will create a network of nonprofit insurers and allow Americans between the ages of 55 and 64 to buy into Medicare. The right has hypocritically opposed a government-run public-option while simultaneously defending Medicare. On his radio show today, Fox News host Glenn Beck called Medicare what it is — a “government-run health care plan.”
Beck attacked the new compromise and proposed a simple solution of his own — “abolish Medicare”.

When you make 8 mil a year by sitting on your ass you wont need medicare. Glenn can do what he does until he's 80. People that actually work for a living can't. Most don't have the money after retirement to buy a private health plan. Beck doesn't care about these people. Unfortunately a lot of these people are Beck fans and to dumb to realize what life will be like after retirement. Sometimes you really have to feel sorry for these people.

Bush gutted the parts of the government that were involved in oversight of just about everything, so there is too much fraud with Medicare. There isn't a good way to confirm that those who submit for Medicare reimbursement actually had the work or received the product. Many times it is years later when the fraud comes to light - if then. Saying that, I'd be sorry to see Medicare go. Hopefully it can be fixed.
