Give 'Em a Fringe, They'll Take a Mile
The Nation's Chris Hayes filling in for Rachel Maddow takes a look at the negotiating tactics being used by the GOP where they're more than willing to hold the country hostage to get their agenda passed no matter how damaging it is to our country and the Democrats never ending willingness to meet the crazy half way.

Talk about a fringe...
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
it's willful complicity. Almost the entire lot of "Democrats" needs to be replaced.
It's the Bush excuse: I wasn't lying about Iraq and WMD; it was just an "oops."
The Democrats attempt to hide their complicity behind a veneer of incompetence and weakness.
Corruption favors the wealthy.
The stupidity comes from the media who actually presume the Democrats are interested in opposing the GOP fringe.
somehow we have to move away from this, somehow the citizenry must be educated as to the nature of the capitalist system and it's inherent injustice. the pukes control the media, that pretty much leaves the web and personal one on one proselytizing ........... sounds just almost religious, doesn't it?
i don't look for any help from the donkey, the asses are just as sold out as the pukes. what is bad is that even life-long lefties like me are willing to compromise, just not on essentials like utilities, commodities, and the like. just because one accepts the marxist critique doesn't mean you want to go all bolshevik, just mixed economy, a limit to price gouging on commodities, an end to virtual financial products, sensible stuff. it really is important to understand where you are though, which is where old uncle karl comes in. neither party seems to be interested in truly sensible solutions, witness the health care reform debacle, no, if we proles want any help, we are going to have to help ourselves, the donkey has gone to the dogs.
Stipulation: The Democrats capitulate or meet more than halfway almost every time.
It does seem like the Republicans are losing this one. I hope they keep pushing because it will cost them in the end. Cost them big. IMHO
We had vacation plans for Wisconsin this year, but I canceled them and notified business groups, and tourism groups that my family and I will not spend another minute in Wisconsin if their Governor takes away collective bargaining rights from state, county, school district, and municipal employees.
We had made 9 separate vacation trips to Wisconsin since 1990, and have generously spent our hard earned cash over the years, but I will not spend another minute in Wisconsin if Walker gets his way with collective bargaining.
I would encourage anyone who had travel plans (real or imagined) to call Wisconsin tourism groups and let them know you will boycott the state.
Wisconsin relies heavily on tourism, especially from Chicago and N. Illinois, and if businesses that realize much of their income from tourism sees their income drastically reduced because of a political stand by their Governor of 3 months.....the s#$t will hit the fan.
'Talk to the hand'
Yup, democrats should be just as obstinate and intransigent as the republicans.
Let's just stake out our territory and never budge an inch.
That way the democrats can seem strong and all will be complimented on having spines. Of course nothing will get done in government - the trains will not roll and the checks will not be in the mail but we can really show the country what democracy really is.
If you think that makes sense.
"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow
man, and I hate people like that! " ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )
I'll take the passive "nothing getting done" in favor of an active "going in reverse."
The Republicons and or Teabaggers DIDN’T create the disillusionment of Democrats; the Obama, Biden, Emanuel, Gibbs, Summers, Geithner WHITE HOUSE DID!
Making the calculated decision that they could afford to IGNORE liberal and progressive voters was IMMEASURABLY DESTRUCTIVE to Democrats! At times, Gibbs sounded like a faux news spokesman.
The abandonment of Howard Dean was TREACHEROUS and SELF-DEFEATING to Democrats! How many NEW Democrats did Tim Kaine and Rahm Emanuel get elected?
The messaging/communication mismanagement of health care reform legislation was a smoke and mirrors face-saving public relations disaster for Democrats!
Openly and repeatedly criticizing the "professional left" was political FRATRICIDE. Liberals and progressives felt BETRAYED! Voters made INDIVIDUAL decisions to sit out the midterm elections. Democratic voters staying home wasn't ORGANIZED; it was a spontaneous en masse reaction to feelings of ANGER and DISAPPOINTMENT.
APPEASING Republicons, Blue Dogs, the religious right and perpetuating Bush's wars, legal battles, secrecy and corporate protectionism/favoritism, while the working class was losing their jobs and their homes, made traditional Democrats feel HOPELESSLY FORSAKEN!
Who was the Obama White House’s political advisor....Karl Rove?
Democrats should have blown the looney tunes GOP away, but due to the repeated political and PR miscalculations of the selectively deaf and dumb Obama White House, the GOP staged what should have been an IMPOSSIBLE comeback. This should never have happened. To deny that the Obama White House needlessly ENABLED it when they could have PREVENTED it is every bit as self-delusional as today’s Teabaggers believing that Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Jim DeMint are selfless servants of working class Americans.
Trying to find something up beat, Mr Hayes has been doing a bang up job as a sub on these programs. He has lost his initial nervousness.
On the down side I agree the Democrats give away the store before the negotiations start. Here in America we define "Insanity" as doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Another culture defines "Insanity" as being honest with a dishonest person. If I remember Anthropology from college that other culture is the Arabs, but I might be wrong on this. In any case both apply to the Democrats.
Some time ago Robert Reich was on Daily Show, back when guests sat on a couch. They were discussing some repugnant Rethug behavior of giving the store to big business. His point was the Democrats do this too. Just follow the money.
Groovy baby:
