Fox News reporter appears to have lied about being ‘punched’ by protester
What a shock... Fox News appears to have again lied to us about how they were treated by the protesters in Wisconsin. From Raw Story and there wasn't a better headline for this than the one they already posted -- Fox News reporter appears to have lied about being ‘punched’ by protester:
Fox News has been making a lot of hay about one of their reporters allegedly being "punched" by a protester in Madison, Wisconsin.
Turns out, that didn't happen.
Mike Tobin, reporting from amid the massive demonstration on Friday, claimed that one of the protesters "punched" him in the arm. In another broadcast, he claimed a man threatened to break his neck.
In both cases, supporting evidence for these claims was not broadcast -- yet still, Tobin's reports have been widely cited across conservative blogs that seem eager to depict union workers as hateful and violent.
What's worse, Tobin's allegation that he was assaulted might have slipped past without rebuttal were it not for a camera-equipped bystander, who captured the scene.
Turns out, someone merely touched his shoulder, as evidenced in the video below. The incident he claimed was a "punch" could instead be described as a pat, at most.
That was apparently enough for him to later declare that even after being "punched, he was just too nice of a guy to press charges.
More there so go read the rest but as Raw Story and our own Dave Neiwert also reported, apparently Fox anchors and reporters really don't like it when Madison protesters tell the truth that Fox lies to their viewers. Too bad they also feel the need to make up being punched by them as well. It looks like they're taking a page straight out of Andrew Breitbart's school of "journalism" here.

"But it was Santa. I can't file charges against Santa. If it had been a lesser holiday children's fantasy character I would have. Like the Easter Bunny. Unlike Santa, that guy has a long rap sheet."

Maybe Ailes told him to push the assault line in the story. Ailles is in trouble with the feds for telling another employee to lie to them (and she has that on tape it is purported :) ) Maybe Ailles wanted this guy to pump it up, the reporter looks a little uncomfortable with the story line when he is asked about it...
I just found out that John Roberts is now working for fox. What the hell would cause him to go to a place like that?
The fox reporter in this story probably was trying to make the protesters appear to be like the ones who roughed up the reporters in Egypt. Why they would want to do that I don't know.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Fox as usual.
Why did he go to FNC, or if not why wouldn't he?
I think John Stewart alluded to the reason in his interview. News Corp owns everything, TV, radio Movies. If you want to work in this town you have to at least not attack News Corp and it's holdings. If you want even a bit part in a movie then Fox will have some say, either to you directly or to the studio that is going to use you, and any other actor.
Anything to pump up the narrative and keep to their storyline to serve the Koch brothers and continue mislead and misinform the audience that likely won't look any farther than Faux for their "news."
Just a guess...

Always has.

He manages to sum up FOX news in one paragraph:
"This is really a terrific place to work," he said. "It's really interesting to work for a place that has the vision of one person that immediately gets disseminated to everyone across the board. You don't have a huge flow chart that goes through myriad branches before it goes down to the troops. Basically you have Roger, and then a couple of people he has as his trusted lieutenants, and then there's the rest of us. There's very little left to interpretation when it comes to what we're doing. Everybody gets the message. That message is really just: cover the news. Tell me a story."

They just went fishing for anybody that had a lick of intergrity, and empty suit Roberts fit the bill.
What's next, making puppets with Walter Cronkite's face pasted on to read the Pravda propaganda company line?
Kinda like FOX could never get a correspondent with integrity like Mike Wallace. So they settled for his spawn, Chris Wallace, otherwise known as the part that ran down Mike's leg,

Fox LIES!

man, and I hate people like that! " ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )
That was on BillO's show :) Entertainment time... On their news hour(s) they showed it properly(ish) but BillO has the "right" to use opinion in his show. "Technically" they didn't lie, they just used "related" video to embellish their story.
Or they could say that it was related video of protests in support of WI. I mean it isn't as bad as the time they used video of one protest to show support of their little protest.
Completely OT, but, it is great to see actual footage of protests again. During the GWB reign there was no or little footage, and no crowd estimates were allowed. It is good to be seeing footage again, even if it is on FNC and used to belittle the current president. I remember protest marches that were held in Kennebunkport that had to turn down side streets as soon as they got within sight of Walker's Point. So a protest aimed at GWB and his dad never got to be seen by either GWB or his dad.
Protests are being shown again and that is one good thing I throw at the GOP trolls that ask me to name one thing Obama has done right :) He helped open the free press doors far enough for the right to complain about :)

I have a friend that heard on Fox that teachers in Wiscosin got over $80,000 a year from their pensions. He's a republican on L&I and collecting SSI for his work injury and he's got Parkinson's. The poor dumb bastard doesn't have a clue about which side his bread is buttered on.
Doesn't matter that he's busted... he can just lean on the decision that says his company can lie with impunity.

I support the unions and dislike Fox but why they even be laying a finger on this idiot?
the "idiot" is supposed to be a reporter and the guy was tapping him on the shoulder because he wanted to make a statement.
Looked to me like an apology pat, after Tobin slapped the sign. Is Santa supposed to hang his head and mutter, "Sorry," and expect to be heard over the ruckus?

Anti-lying Laws keep Fox out of Canada, by RFK Jr.
O! Canada!
Please give us your Fox-free TV, your superb national health care, and your ability to send your military only in defense of your homeland or on peace-keeping missions.
We thank you for your help in the wars against aggression and fascism in the past, and for your part in helping numbers of American hostages in Iran escape through your embassy.
We thank you for the peaceful border we have shared with you for nearly 200 years, and the decency of your people.
We'll even promise not to make fun of the spelling of your name (C-eh?-N-eh?-D-eh?) and we'll change to the Canadian football rules.
I beg of you, please consider invading us?

He can, but it's a stupid idea.
He is, as you said a private citizen - one man, with one lawyer, against one of the largest corporations in the world, with a team of them.
Right, wrong, legality, illegality, whatever, they don't matter in that situation - if it comes down to a legal battle, experience shows us Fox will win.
Only when he's from Israel, Walt. You know how that works.

Another talking head who is a dues paying Union man. Hypocrite, you say? Of course, he's a no-news entertainer on Faux.
I have to kind of wonder if the union employees at Faux were kinda farmed out to them because they were too shitty to work at decent outlets... got 'em a gig at Faux just to fulfill dues requirements and shut 'em the hell up around the union hall...

I smell the plant from Roger Ailes. Anyone notice the second a protester talked to her she hightailed it out of there?
NOT FIGHTING/STANDING UP TO EVIL IS THE ABANDONMENT OF GOOD
There are only radical and MORE radical APPEARING Republicon leaders/talking heads.
The purpose of the existence of the MORE radical teabaggers, the Rush Limbaughs, the Glenn Becks, the Michelle Bachmanns, the Steve Kings and the Scott Walkers is to make the radical Republicons/neocons; the Bill O'Reillys, the Mitt Romneys, the Tom Coburns, the Mike Huckabees and the Rick Perrys APPEAR to be REASONABLE by COMPARISON, when they are in FACT Republicon RADICAL EXTREMISTS to their very cores. As a result, compromising with Republicons pushes malleable/non-confrontational Democrats like Obama further and further to the RIGHT...so much so that liberals and progressives stayed home during the 2010 midterm elections because Obama ALLOWED himself to be PUSHED to the RIGHT in the name of PRAGMATISM...otherwise known as appeasement/empowerment/capitulation!?
Abandoning and or compromising away liberal/progressive/Democratic values/principles is not progress; it's getting in bed with/validating the progression of evil.
When the choices are compromising with "pure evil" or with "mostly evil", the principled choice should be not to compromise at all because any compromise with evil is the abandonment of good. And not fighting/standing up to evil IS the abandonment of good.
Every seemingly "small" compromise with today's Republicons is an insidious movement from the light to the dark side of morality....and Obama isn't rejecting it; he's facilitating it. No matter his intentions, he’s aiding and abetting evil.
I've always said, it's not the bad people I have a problem with. They are around and will always be around. It's weak "good" people who let them get away with their crimes I have a problem with.
I don't believe in God. Teach a man to be a good citizen and you have solved the problem of life.

...and nothing more. I heard a guy who called into the Stephanie Miller show this morning who was standing next the this moron. He said in brushed him inadvertently with his sign, which seems to be verified by this video. He also said that before he went on air, he was actually provoking people by putting his finger in one of the protester's faces. It's patently obvious that the ONLY reason he reported from where he did was so they could push their false meme that these protesters are on the verge of rioting at any moment.
The really sad thing is that none of the national media is doing much better at reporting what is happening in Madison and around the country.
Our democracy is on life support...
Yup , afraid so , it really is .
"The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all."
This is a classic right-wing tactic and it was highly effective for the Nazis. Whether it was the Munich Beer-Hall Putsch, or just everyday attacks on the opposition, they took martyrdom to a new level. Anyone who fell for the cause was acting peacefully and was "attacked" by people who hate Germany
I don't believe in God. Teach a man to be a good citizen and you have solved the problem of life.

I don't call these guys the Reich wing for nothing .
"The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all."
Seriously,
This should be a new precedent.
Every time Fox News covers any sort of protest there needs to be one or more bloggers with camcorders there filming the Fox News team the whole time. Show how they choose their backgrounds, show them ruffling up their clothes to make it look like they have been roughed up. Show them being tapped and calling it a punch. Show them standing in a crowd of 10 pretending it is hundreds.
Catch them being full of crap enough times on tape and it just might eventually catch up with them.
Looks like the guy was just tapping him on his shoulder like you would to get someone's attention. What a f*cking liar.
Can it be ? A reporter from Fox propaganda making stuff up and lying ? Tell me it isn't so !
"The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all."
Clutch the pearls!
Nothing new about that.
Republicans are liars and simply cannot be trusted.
Is real fear developing at Fox not-News that where ever it goes, the chant of 'FOX NEWS LIES' will chase it. What happens to a propaganda as news station that can no longer broadcast live with out that chant, can no longer record on the street without that chant, is the truth broadcast loud and clear where ever the Fox not-News truck stops and the team of lies try to set up, the only way to put an end to this engine of deceit.
