Fox Nation Ad -- Fox News "Great American" Pundits Champion Their "Core Principles"
By Heather Friday Jul 03, 2009 12:00pm
Fox News is airing a new commercial on their station that frankly had me almost throwing up in my mouth a little when I saw it. Fox has decided to roll out their full list of regular pundits to espouse the network's journalistic integrity and "core principles". No...I'm not joking.
Here are some of the "principles" they claim Fox News promotes: civility, mutual respect, strengthening our diverse society by striving for unity, tolerance, open debate and civil discourse.
Yeah, that's exactly what I think of when I see the likes of Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly screaming over one of their guests. Or Glenn Beck riding that crazy train off into the horizon. Or Laura Ingraham on one of her hate filled screeds that's akin to listening to finger nails on a chalk board.
And for a real hoot, check out the ticker that's running below the ad. Breaking News!!... Fox News realizes that Helen Thomas exists and actually cares about what she has to say now that it's criticism of the Obama administration.
I love Helen to death, but her whining about Nico Pitney getting a question from the White House sounds like sour grapes to me from a typical Villager. There's plenty to complain about besides a blogger getting to ask one lousy question that's wrong with that White House press corps if she wants to go on a rant about what's wrong with our media.
I think this Fox Nation ad could use a better description than the one I came up with for the video and the post. I'd love to hear suggestions from the readers here who by and large are always more creative than I am when it comes to these things. We've done some "write your own caption posts". I'll gladly have this be a "write your own video description" instead. Submissions welcomed if you'd care to give all of us a laugh.

That's the funniest ad I've ever seen in my life. How did they keep a straight face? Oh, they thought about losing their paychecks if they strayed from the script, same as always. Nevermind.
Karl Rove = tolerance, Ollie North = unity, O'Reilly = mutual respect?
I feel brain cells dying while I try to process what I've just seen.
It's bound to happen when you're taking money to deliver felatio to a corpulent beast.
I saw a doco on porn stars, and at least they are under no illusion that they're performing some noble feat for the betterment of society. At least they know they're in it for the money.
time slot in my life.LOL
FoxNation...
Balanced,
Accurate,
Reliable,
Fair...
...everything else is #2 !!!
I smell a lawsuit for false advertising.
They already won that one.
The courts have found that falsifying the news "isn't against the law".
Steve Wilson, Jane Akre, the 'Investigators' and Monsanto, here
It is all about thought control and manufacturing consent.

Joseph Goebbels
we ALL have lost, totally.
You know what they say, you can shine up a turd, but when you are done, it is still a turd.
My Father (God rest his soul) always said you can put a $500 suit on a turd and all you got is a turd in a $500 suit. That was 1960's $500
Actually, those are all just variations of "you can put lipstick on a pig..."
Sarah Palin To Resign As Alaska Governor
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/07/03/pol...
Independence Day / 4th of July in Alaska for quite a while!!
Gee, I wonder what Miss Sarah will be doing now??!! Maybe learning English as a second language, or reading some newspapers, or traveling around collecting donations for Miss Sarah's Good Ol' Fashioned PAC, yew betcha. Looks like we'll have her to kick around for a couple more years...Yippee.
..who's wondering if this is a good or bad thing?
I'm thinking you can bet this will be hilarious. I was figuring that the Republican party was going to pull back and quietly plot it's rebirth/rebranding. I guess there's still some imploding to savor.
This is great. I think more Republicans should resign their positions in order to make presidential bids.
And watch the statement she gave. It was so rambling and bizarre I can see Mittens and Huckleberry using it in primary ads. She is finished.
would double the charisma quotient.
I wonder what she's planning too. She sounded pretty scary with her "outside the government" comments. She is a major whack job with a fairly large following.
celebrate Independence Day this year! Independence from Governor Wacko.
will be dancing in the steets just like the Iraqis.
Actually I don't live too far from Wacko Texas.
observation?
Amazing. Palin, Clear way for presidential run or scandal coming in 3, 2, 1....
Hi xoites! Long time no see.
On second thought, I'll double that amount and make it 200$.
How 'bout both.
...I am anxious to see the other shoe about to drop. Not running for re-election is one thing, but just quitting right now is quite another. Something big is about to come out.
Hmmm, Compromising pictures of her with a polar bear?
As I said farther down this thread — she's going to FOX. Great money, they'll treat her like a queen, and she gets to rip on Obama and the Dems. Nirvana for Palin. Wait for the announcement.
That was awesome! Fox Entertainment News keeping Americans uninformed and ignorant. Doing a great job I might say.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
"And mutual respect." Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!!!!!!! Those words from the mouth of Mr. Disdain himself. Holy shit, HOW DO these people take themselves seriously???????
I laughed till I cried
Sarah Palin resigned!

..
"generic virtue, generic virtue, !!!ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!!!, generic virtue"
And for what it's worth, a while ago I tried a graphic to sum up Fox' ACTUAL values.
If you're interested...
I just watched a Bill Maher video in which he states that "If you have to say your patriotic, it's kinda like saying you have a big d__k. Meaning that if you have to say it it's probably not true." I think that applies to this entire load of a video.
Sounds kinda like a job interview.
"I've got great people skills, am personable and hard working..."
How they have record ratings is beyond mystifying... and terrifying.
creepy also comes to mind
“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.
“The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over”
“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”
Intellectual activity is a danger to the building of character”
Fox must be channeling Goebbels
!
Goddam. That last bit about fair, open debate is particularly hilarious. I noticed they saved Karl Rove for the end. Well, I won't be spending my Independence Day with those assh**es.
I druther have an entire apple of my own.
To that I say horse hockey
I'd love to see them try to put on those tiny skates.
The biggest bunch of paid liars I have seen in one place in weeks.
Not since the last time I watched the republican members of the senate on c-span.
Do they really think that anyone believes their bullshit anymore?
I wonder what it will be like for them when they die?
Will all the lies for money prove to be any benefit for them then?
Can these people really believe what they say?
Don't they understand what hypocrites they are and have been?
The things they say would be enough, to cause a real person with a conscience, to consider suicide.
republicanism is a mental illness! What else could explain it?
...but it's still Fox News.
I'd love to see something on the evening news about sarah palin buggering out
But then I tried to watch the 12:00 news and in the space of a minute they went from lake levels for holiday revelers to michael jackson.
Sarah Palin to resign!
I'm always really convinced when people tell me how great they are.
I think the difference between this blogger and Helen Thomas is that Thomas has integrity. Just because it's Obama manipulating the media to get their pre-packaged message across with no substantial debate and not Bush does not excuse this crass and cynical use of the lap dog media. Huffington Post should be ashamed, as should "Heather" for excusing the Obama camp's actions.
Thanks for your opinion. ♥
Are you from the Washington post by any chance? ;)
I agree with EMonterey.
Helen Thomas as a journalist is a national treasure.
No no, I don't ascribe to any of that media. I read it all and then make my assumptions based on the fact it's likely half bullshit (at the least).
Though I myself would not have used assumptions, fact and likely in the same sentence, to describe your summation regarding the issue... In a pinch, your hunch could prove accurate in direct proportion to the facts you've verified or left un-verified.
How much is BS depends on the issue or claim, I would say.
What does your gut tell you about this claim?...
..."Huffington Post should be ashamed, as should "Heather" for excusing the Obama camp's actions." If you were to honestly read into it and how true is it as well? Surely there must be more then the two you've listed, no?
You remember... "Trust, but Verify" The more productive thing, would be to throw facts at the lies... though it does not work with all individual(s) or entities.

Thank you for your time.
to give them a question from some of the people he was talking to in Iran is manipulating the media, which is what Helen was complaining about. Obama punted and didn't even answer the question he asked him. I think the White House press corps as a whole has a bit too high of an opinion about themselves in general, and that Helen, this time, looked like she was falling into that attitude as well. I love Helen too. I just don't see how this particular issue was something worth all of the complaining. There's a lot of other things the Obama administration has done that deserves that sort or ire. Letting a blogger ask him one question isn't one of them.
If they keep it up, or pull a Jeff Gannon type stunt like the Bush administration did, that's another story. Dana Milbank was having a hissy fit over Pitney being allowed to ask a question as well and I suspect for similar reasons, and his comparison of Pitney to Gannon was ridiculous. Nico Pitney is no Jeff Gannon, to put it mildly.
Is that you see nothing wrong with the administration calling a reporter to inform him he will be called on by the president to ask a question about a specific topic? Change the name to the Bush administration and see how it sounds then.
It really seems like the excuses flow on the left for Obama. It seems like he can truly do no wrong.
C'mon people. This is Sneaky Sarah. Not too smart but she's always got a plan. Run for President? Doubtful. Challenge Murkowski for Senator in 2010? Possible. Become the new lead-in on FOX for Huckabee? Bingo!
You can count the days until the announcement. I betcha!
Exposing homosexuals, probing their agenda, scrubbing them clean with loofas and garbonzo bean sandwiches.
Hitler and Goebbels would be proud. I wish these people would just rot away like the trash that they are.
The News, is what you and I make of it, my delusional minions... Now pass the hat, were going to commercial break! And when we return...
Megan kelly debates Bill Burton:

Who was it that said... Trust but verify?
Those aren't even real statements. They're old snippits re-hashed into new propaganda, and yes, it does make one sick.
Tell me something, is the Fox Nation planning on seceding from the United States? If so, I implore them to take all these dirtbags with them. They could find a place like Botany Bay, where the English dumped all their undesirables. Unfortunately, outside of North Korea or Mullah-land in Iran, I can't think of anyplace in the world I'd wish these assholes onto.
By the way, who was the old broad in the video, looked like Geraldine Ferraro, I hardly think it could be her, am I wrong? And I nearly upchucked my dinner when Ollie North talked about American values. He and Reagan are the face of Iran-Contra.
If the spot had ended with, "Now let's get out there and lynch those Jew-lovin', negro-huggin', commie-kissin' America-hatin' libruls!!!"
hahahahah. I completely agree 100%
This advertisement breaks a cardinal rule of selling........
Because an "oversell" is just a FRANTIC attempt to get your audience to believe what your saying/selling. What is so disgustingly obvious about this ad is that anyone that is intelligent enough to decipher real news from propaganda knows which category Fix News settles into.
Civil Discourse & Mutual Respect are concepts lost on Faux News. It is a real shame that I have to go to news organizations outside of my country to know what is really happening in my country.
nation? Is that like Alien
Nation?
Fairly Imbalanced.
The reason Fox News has such huge ratings is because that's all the lunatic fringe right wingers watch, more than CNN. When they're not watching Fox they listen to AM radio. with the likes of Mush Lamebrain, Savage, Dennis Miller and all the rest of the loony right.
Were else do they get their news?
or even Ayn Rand. They worship George Orwell.
This commercial is downright creepy.
Maybe Sarah Palin is quitting her governorship for a job on Fox news!
Filled with heavy irony, isn't it?
Did you see the quick cameos of the "Liberal"?
Or, did Alan Colmes go by too quickly to notice?
We're freedom, liberty, respect, ...
And you're not
I like the one where they say they're "fair & balanced." That one still cracks me up.
Hi. I'm Glenn Beck, Fox stuporstar, and I'm here in the Fox Barnyard Bunker where we prepare our citizens not only for urban warfare and socialist eradication and lessons on surviving FEMA camp imprisonment, but we also teach others to be accepting of other cultures, colors, creeds, religions, thoughts, conspiracies, and parties.
Ya might say we're a station barnyard full of diverse, yet connected animals. Animals of every kind: female and male, gay and straight, christian and non-christian, big and small, all yearning to be free in this great station.
Won't you help us tear down the electric fence of pure partisanship that has plagued this very station for far too long, since its inception?
This is Fox Nation. You might say, "We're all Fox now!". Please, won't you help us reflect our Fox nation's values without stepping in our own shit.
Help us to live together in harmony, side by side, pork and chicken. Horse and beef. Goat and frog. Dog and cat. Fox and hound.
The Fox founding father, his excellency, Mr. Rupert Murdoch, would have wanted us this way.
Dear god I know this is bad, but this just makes me want to punch Glen Beck in his lying fat face.
