Erin Burnett hides behind a viewer email to question whether or not the United States should be extending unemployment benefits for workers who have lost their jobs since so many people are "asking about it". I guess in Burnett's world, our country would be better off if we were more like China.

I'd like to know if Burnett has ever questioned whether these overpaid Wall Street a-holes she sucks up to every day deserve the golden parachutes they're walking away with - after destroying our economy. How about that for a random thought to come out of that head of yours?

And of course Scar can't help himself, trying to one-up her for the day's biggest "compassionate conservative" - he even manages to get a shot in at single mothers before the segment is over. These people have no souls.

Adam Green wrote Burnett an open letter over at the HuffPo. As he noted you can let her know how you feel about this at: SquawkOnTheStreet@cnbc.com.

Burnett is the usual clueless Upper Middle Class Anchor Babe that has never had a working class job and doesn't know anyone in her circle of friends who has had to stand in the unemployment line.

Jon Stewart should give her a interview. I envision her stuttering and sputtering for coherent answers. She can't hide behind her emails on the Daily Show.

Hey C&L, please put this article/post on your Home/Front page. Thanks.

she's not clueless, she's knows damn well that if she doesn't carry the water for wall street...she'll be joining the unemployed in a heartbeat.

Instead of getting upset at her for being so unaware of the real situation, I sort of pity her that she's been so cloistered that she is unable to say anything sensible. Her circle of friends are probably WallStreet yuppies who get a so-called employee bonus policy as part of their "jobs."

for any financial "gurus" at CNBC and MSNBC is growing wider by the day.

Erin Burnett is a serious freakin' hottie.

There's something profoundly ugly about someone so smug, vapid, intellectually challenged and out of touch.

-AF

Thats true, wouldn't be banging her attitude though:)

But in all seriousness, I would really like to know who these "serious economists though.

she's a right wing bimbo-real hot...

a good ho for wall street.

Sexist bastards are whats wrong with wall street. Take the makeup off this so alled babe and you got ugly to the bone. I would rather have an intelligent no bull person who may not be the best looking babe man or woman give me the financial news straight with no bull than a beautiful people sitting there giving us lies. When are the citizens in the country going to start looking for intelligence instead of looks? I personally am tired of beautiful people giving us the news.

I wish she would please quit looking up at the monitors. Can't they give her one at eye level? She looks like she's ordering a hamburger at McDonalds!

Erin is proving to be as clueless as Mika, Joe, and the crew at CNBC. Too bad, she is a babe to look at.

to a man.

"No, really. Please die so the rest of us won't have to suffer the burden of your weak asses. I have a job as a high paid financial prostitute, so why don't you?"

jtraynor,
Maybe you could pleasure yourself on line while watching her live prison cam. That's where she belongs for the next five years of her useless life.

I presume that total and unadulterated cluelessness is a prerequisite for having a television show these days? Erin is a clueless, uneducated egghead and Scarface is the epitome of a bloviating moron. How can anyone watch these idiots and not be totally appalled?

I wouldn't watch these blathering baboons if they were the only show on the television.

Did you do that screen shot on purpose? She looks like she's about to receive a "shot" that usually concludes the short vignette.

LOL

Erin will soon have her personal opportunity to experience unemployment at it's finest. This total airhead's days are numbered because she presents herself like a spoilet, immature little brat.

I wish that fate on all corporate media tools but in Erin's case I would hope she reforms because a serious hottie like that should be a progressive. She has a fantastic future ahead of her if she becomes a liberal pundit or my next wife.

I'm not saying it's valid or anything, but some people say that it is only Erin Burnett's passable good looks that keep her employed. That her talent level + below average looks = many weeks of unemployment.

When she gets on her knees for the final time tonight, she should thank the good lord for her clear skin.

I'm not saying this, you understand, but it's out there.

It might be 1% of people, who knows? But we should definitely consider it when making policy for the other 99%.

It's like that other totally imaginary animal, the welfare queen, that I imagined was benefitting unfairly before.

And I'm not saying its true, but some people have that impression...

I'm not the one saying this, mind you, but other people are, and they seem to think they know just what Erin needs, and they keep saying something about 'big time'.

Now you gotta understand this when I tell you I'm not saying this myself, 'cause I got no horse in this game, but it's out there.

the Governor says he will veto part time talkers from stimulus benefits.

Right on target !

Erin, the Starling, in this clip looks like a chirping birdie about to receive her mother's barf as sustenance.

...

I kept trying to get a job, but seems I am ruined around here, I only get "not the right type of person". I am a domestic terrorist followed by dick heads taking pictures of me then I am sure they question any and all clerks I talk to just after I was in their place of business. So the extension of Unemployment benefits is helping me allot so I can relocate to fucking work again rather than sucking my bank account dry. Still Pissed here. PA sucks there are jobs but not for people like me. Only church people and good half wit fox news whopper eaters. It could be partially my attitude, I was getting pretty sour watching the repoblo-fascists destroy the country, and going to work with these happy ass go lucky, everything just fine, have faith, don't question authority, take a look around, morons. Just a tad sour. I move now.

Why, yes it is. In that segment, she sounded halfway intelligent. (I dont know what she was talking about in regards to the UAW)

But, alas, she is instead a braindead rightwing media shill for corporate interests, and cannot keep her job on CNBC without suckling at the crotch of America's uber wealthy.

Here is the clip I'm talking about, where she takes offense at the overtly whiny Jim Cramer:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=1057151...

Ask Atta J. Turk!

Yeah, that's right. Yank those unemployment benefits, and those "lazy-out-of-work-types" will get off their lazy butts and go cut somebody's lawn or flip hamburgers...anything to bring home that $7.50 an hour wage that replaces their job they were released from.

Are these people totally clueless? I know they have no hearts. I am so turned off by this bitch and joe-the-scarface line of thinking. Hell yes.....you know those damn women that go out and have babies so they can drag in another $50 a month from welfare.

How asinine the thinking of these pigs. I can't even stand to listen to them OR watch their pussy faces.

"projectile vomit" emoticon available?

isn't that - like - *MY* money??

they need to extend the UI because there's more jobs, but more importantly - they needed to give a bunch of money to the UI funds because *THEY ALREADY SPENT ALL MY MONEY!*

god dammit ... I'm getting seriously seriously seriously pissed off at mainstream media.

a little off topic but even just last night my girlfriend and I watched Jon Stewart spank Jim Cramer and even they glossed over the main parts.. the parts where Jon showed Jim saying - *IN HIS OWN WORDS* - that it was a good idea to lie to your current and potential clients.

mainstream media frickin sucks these days. 2 or 3 bourgeois cokeheads sitting around talking about whether or not its "fair" to give me my UI checks... people HOW THE HELL IS THIS NEWS??!!

How about she gets laid off and lets see what she does for a job? Maybe no one will hire her because she is a lame ass tool.
Wouldn't that be great!

If she gets herself plenty of tattoos and piercings, she could have a bright future in porn.

I'm totaly sick of people getting rich off of the 30% pay that they take home with unemployment pay that they payed for in the first place.

Those people are really living it up on a fraction of their former salary while they pawn everything they own. What do they think? That they are entitled to the benefits of the program they have paid into for their entire working life? Don't you know there's no such thing as a free lunch that you paid for last week?

Did anyone else think that there was someone off camera who poked Scarborough with a stick to prompt him into that whole imaginary welfare queen schpiel?

And Mika says, "yeah..." She's a bright one, ain't she?

This clip just keeps on giving.

Don't you think we should be more like China?

Those economic terrorists that destroyed the economy would be involuntary organ donors by now.

Isn't the idea of free trade the notion that the country who exploits their labor force the most be rewarded? Free trade is the darling of the corporate oligarchy, and hence the corporate media is going to advocate adapting the 3rd world approaches in those countries. I suppose that China's employers aren't saddled with that dreaded FUTA tax that our unfortunate domestic employers are saddled with.

Yeah-- the kind of people that pampered idiot rubs elbows with are talking about, I'm sure. I'm sure they're talking about every weekend on their fucking yachts.

Why is she still allowed to comment on anything, less more this economy? Why are these people not fired, so she can be one of those "lazy" people living off of a percentage of what they would normally make if working? But then again, she is a millionaire, so she doesn't have to worry about needing unemployment, even if she got fired. Those economists she is talking are all conservative economists speaking of the ills of socialism. More of that "compassionate conservatism" Bush talked about, huh! Jeff and Donnie were completely right with unemployment, people have real bills to pay and unlike Erin Burnett, need every penny they made when they were working to pay them. Once again, this points to the need for media reform. How can a millioniare, who no matter how much she screws up, will never lose her job, sit on tv and "throw out" this conservative meme about the lazey unemployed people? I heard right wing pundits talking about teachers all week, discussing the need to get rid of bad teachers, because they aren't competent to teach our kids. Well how about this, people like Ms. Burnett, Cramer, Kudlow, Dobbs, etc aren't competent enough to give advice on the state of the economy nor the market, yet they are still on air mouthing off everyday the same nonsense that led this nation into this disaster. Isn't it funny, everytime these right wingers talk about the need to "get rid of the bad employees" it usually references the union employees, never the hacks that populate our airways misleading, and in some cases, downright lying to the American people. Ms. Burnett, I wish you could, as they say, walk a mile in the lower to middle class persons shoes, and then sit your ass on TV pondering the sincerity of the people needing and depending on their unemployment, especially in an economy where hiring is falling apart before our very eyes. Get a fucking clue!!!

Yeah, we should be more like China! I remember a time when the Republican fucks would say "If you don't like it why don't you go live in Russia or China" now when someone says America should take better care of Americans and they say "but China doesn't take better care of their people" - I hate these people!!!

I'm not saying that Obama is a Muslum, I'm just asking. Because a lot of people are worried.

I'm not saying people on unemployment aren't looking for work, I'm just asking. I don't really know, but a lot of people are writing in on this concern .... blah blah blah.

CNBC is coming across a lot like Fox these days. Same exact technique.

I remember on my last stint on unemployment, the UI guy telling me no employer would want to hire me because of my age. And you are required to seek work while collecting. It seemed obvious at the time I better get started immediately. One thing about UI is that you can refuse work that doesn't pay at least half what you were making before. I think people should be allowed a period of time to try and obtain work comparable to what they had before heading to the nearest fast food restaurant for a job, because, once reemployed, that leaves less time to seek suitable work. Maybe that's where Burnett has a problem, but UI is characterized as "insurance" for a reason. With about a week or two left on unemployment, UI did get me an interview, but by that time, I had arranged to be rehired by the company that laid me off, so I didn't find out how that would have played out. Had to move out of state to get rehired though.

Right now, there are a lot more job seekers than jobs, so many people are going to have to ride out the entire UI claim, no matter what. One thing I do notice in these situations, that when extensions are on, people interact with the Employment office longer, hence they are counted longer, so the reported unemployment rate is higher. I don't think you are counted as unemployed if you don't interact with the unemployment office, which frequently happens when benefits run out.

What world do these people live in. Why do they call SS or unemployment, entitlements, we have paid into these programs all our working lives. Entitlements indeed, they use that word as a negative. Like using extensions on unemployment is welfare, just living high on the hog on unemployment, have they ever tried to live on that. And add that people usually can't afford to keep their health ins. Universal health care, oh no, that would be socialism, if it is, sign me up.

Why would the spokespeople for our corporate oligarchy complain that these programs, financed by taxes on employers (corporations), are entitlements??? Hm'mm, very hard to figure out.

Wipe the question mark off your forehead. CNBC doesn't give a horse's patooty about people like you and me. The whole strategy is to divide people against each other, while their corporate masters, in particular, Wall Street, rip us all off.

ummmm totally techniclly speaking those programs ARE funded by the workers NOT the employers.

“Universal health care, oh no, that would be socialism,...”

Here's where the ideology breaks down, while Universal Health may be "socialism", it is also the most "fiscally conservative" approach, because it is substantially cheaper. That's why opponents of Universal Health resort to hyperbole because their case won't be substantiated by a financial analysis.

Obama took a lot of corporate donations (bribes), and it looks like they're paying off. Obama wants to borrow from the Chinese to cover the poor, even as China expresses concern about holding too much US debt.

The grassroots is going to need to demand fiscal responsibility in order to get health care passed, by demanding that costs of the various approaches be evaluated. We can't afford the corporate welfare component of the current medical system any more.

Shut up, repub.

Has that little fool ever collected unemployment? On unemployment, you either eat or you pay the electric bill. Who sits around waiting for the unemployment to run out when you have to live like that? What "serious economists" are saying people do? I'll bet this woman grew up with every toy she ever asked mommy and daddy for, went to college without having to work while she went and has never had to think about what she will give up so that her kids can have just a little more than what they need. In a just world, people like her would not be allowed to speak where they can be heard by other people who actually suffer deprivation.

The Romans understood that you need bread and circuses. But Americans are door mats. "Please, Sir. May I have another boot." So, screw 'em. Why waste the resources? Just prudent business as long as the American people aren't willing to defend themselves.

Seriously. If Americans demonstrated they had half a brain this country would have been crippled with strikes and mass political upheaval _years_ ago. So what sort of rhetoric do you expect from the entitled class? Really? What do you expect? They don't call it "class war" for nothing.

This broad is Limbaugh's classic definition of an "airhead info babe". In all seriousness I can never figure out what she contributes to an alleged business information cable network other than cheesecake. In all fairness to her I suppose you could say that about many others on CNBC. Erin hangs around this dope Cramer like some groupie and again I don't know what the hell her presence has to do with financial news reporting. It's kinda like the ornaments that Hugh Heffner has hanging around him whenever he is pictured. Nice try CNBC with the cheesecake!

Shouldn't we be marching in the streets and demanding that these crooks be perp walked to jail? Why are so many thugs allowed to tell us lies while watched their lies all along?

Palin/Burnett 2012? You got energy AND economy experts.

I don't know how your unemployment system works in the USA. Doesn't each working person pay into to it every week? Isn't it like a collective savings account to be drawn on in case you lose your job? (That's how it's done in Canada. It's not a freebie, not a handout. We pay into the fund each and every week.)

That's why it is unemployment INSURANCE.

interestingly enough, the gov't doesn't, and if you lose a gov't job, you don't get shit, and if the employer neglects paying the insurance, you also don't get shit, because the insurance premium has not been paid.

It's taken right off our paycheques every week. A healthy sum. Canada is a lot more socialist (than you), but we all pay for it. It IS NOT the rich giving to the poor.

PS we pay taxes on our unemployment benefits, and yes, we also pay into unemployement insurance, with our unemployment insurance benefits.

Technically it's the employers who pay into the unemployment fund, but it's very reasonable to assume that we get lower wages because of it.

What a dufus-so typical of the "babe" set pundits, just mothing off a bunch of prescribed opinions like her talk on Bill Mahrer's show about how the rich are the ones being soaked in this economy. Always representing the uber-class as the victims & the unemployed as lazy siphers. She deserves to be fired and experience the real world for a change, instead of having the horn dog Chris Mathews salivating over her. Ick!

It's amazing how all of these people are experts on China.

It's a revolving cycle: China the good, China the bad. Cherry pick your bits and pieces. As someone who has lived in Asia, long term, I can tell you none of these people has a clue what they are talking about.

they are claiming China is a good capitalist country because they have such an abundance of cheap and expendable labor that they can use up and spit out...like the US government is enabling business to do to its workers.

The banks have found a way to make money on the unemployed:

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/US/03/13/unemploy...

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- If you're out of work like Steve Lippe, who was laid off from his job as a salesman in January, you know you already have problems. But looking at the fine print that came with his new unemployment debit card, he became livid.

"A $1.50 [fee] here, a $1.50 there," he said. "Forty cents for a balance inquiry. Fifty cents to have your card denied. Thirty-five cents to have your account accessed by telephone."

He was quoting fees listed in a brochure that goes out to every unemployed person in Pennsylvania who chooses to receive benefits via debit card. He was given the option when he filed for jobless payments: Wait 10 days for a check or get the card immediately. Like most of the 925,000 state residents who received unemployment benefits in February in Pennsylvania, he chose the debit card and only then, he says, did he learn about the fees.

Had direct deposit, like my paycheck. That method works.

she initially gets from THE ENTIRE PANEL when she first mentions it. You can almost see Donny Deutch's (sic?) chin his the floor...

Erin Burnett doesn't know anything, she was hired for her looks. Nothing more, nothing less...

she'll put out to keep her job...any trick the johns require. A good ho

Erin is being pilloried rather harshly, I don't understand why you're being so gentle with her.

Who here thinks that she didn't tool someone to get what she has?

Erin Burnett is very annoying.

I saw her on Real Time with Bill Maher and she was very rude to Peter Singer. She yelled at Professor Singer as if she "knew all" and he did not. I guess that is what happens to the glib people on TV.

I guess Ms. Burnett does not realize that she is not as smart as she thinks.

You know what I think the real problem is? It comes from groups of people talking about things that they know NOTHING about. Like one of the guys in the video said, people that have jobs are raising that question, not the unemployed.

I am unemployed. I have been for some time now and I am looking for jobs that pay less than $10 an hour. The unemployment I get is the same as a 40 hour per week job at $5 per hour. Do you really think I want to stay with this lifestyle? The maximums in Florida are around $10 an hour, 40 hour per week job. People don't want that!! It certainly helps, but if someone is dying of thirst and his to drink his own piss, you wouldn't say, "Well if I just give him more piss, he won't look for water."

Economists are famous for this. I am studying economics both at a University and privately. Many theories make logical sense, but have no relevance after they are made. They may "explain" what happened in the past, but they have no relevance in the future. Economists study and theorize, but ultimately have no clue. That is what I think the real problem with our society is today.

As Michael Calderone at The Politico (I hate to quote those assholes but what are you going to do?) says:

But as the country's mood shifts, such highly paid, highly opinionated business pundits might run into trouble if successfully depicted as being in the pocket of Wall Street rather than fighting for Main Street.

"The reason voices are raised is because the disagreement is stark and crucial," Tyndall said. "The entire neo-liberal economic orthodoxy is at risk of being discredited. If that goes, CNBC's foundational identity goes with it."

Bye bye CNBC!!

.

"The entire neo-liberal economic orthodoxy ...discredited."

I love that quote.

Oh yes , the joys and virtues of Capitalism. Look what it creates: The MISTRESS OF LUCIFER HIMSELF CALLED ERIN BURNETT WHO CAN MAKE MILLIONS, just like all the other Corporate Cum Sluts called 'journalists' like Brian Williams, Douchebourgh, the Corporate Nazi called Wolf Blizter, 'Swollen Lips' David Gregory, and all the rest of corporate cum sluts that peddle the propaganda of Corporations that own their souls, AND YET THE TEACHERS OF OUR CHILDREN, for Christ sakes, make around #30,00 a year ....... YES, THE VIRTUES OF CAPITALISM .. just look at what it produces starting with THE MISTRESS OF LUCIFER HIMSELF .........

Notice how she says "...a lot of people are talking about it" repeatedly.

I wish someone would say, "name one of them, please."

I could care less about her looks. She's a liar and a manipulator. "...A lot of people are talking about it" I'm supposed to believe her drivel? It makes me sick to look at her. She's a walking, breathing vomit bag of Wall Street propaganda.

yep

she's as ugly as Ann Coulter...through and through. I couldn't watch all the video I found her so repulsive... millions of Americans are suffering and she's basically mocking each and every one of them...to make her paycheck. Kissing Erin would be like kissing Linda Blair in the Excorcist while she's puking green pea soup and her head is spinning around.

So this upper-middle class princess is just another talking head pretending to be an "independent" journalist, huh? I wish the camera would pan down so we could see which Wall Street exec has his hand up the puppet's ass.

Or some people say ... Or I did not say it but....
Hey, this is right out of the Fox news playbook.
Not convinced ? Take a look at the movie "Outfoxed".

But her elitism, obvious greed, corpro-sycophantism (fawning parasite) . . . makes her extremely ugly.

... ugly ugly words spewing from her mouth... I predict, even with her corrupt employer, her days are definitely numbered never to be seen again. Americans can't really put up with this crap spewed much longer on the airwaves. Erin is mocking them all on national television.
