I'm not saying it's valid or anything, but some people say that it is only Erin Burnett's passable good looks that keep her employed. That her talent level + below average looks = many weeks of unemployment.

I kept trying to get a job, but seems I am ruined around here, I only get "not the right type of person". I am a domestic terrorist followed by dick heads taking pictures of me then I am sure they question any and all clerks I talk to just after I was in their place of business. So the extension of Unemployment benefits is helping me allot so I can relocate to fucking work again rather than sucking my bank account dry. Still Pissed here. PA sucks there are jobs but not for people like me. Only church people and good half wit fox news whopper eaters. It could be partially my attitude, I was getting pretty sour watching the repoblo-fascists destroy the country, and going to work with these happy ass go lucky, everything just fine, have faith, don't question authority, take a look around, morons. I'm totaly sick of people getting rich off of the 30% pay that they take home with unemployment pay that they payed for in the first place.

Those people are really living it up on a fraction of their former salary while they pawn everything they own. What do they think? That they are entitled to the benefits of the program they have paid into for their entire working life? Don't you know there's no such thing as a free lunch that you paid for last week?

Why are these people not fired, so she can be one of those "lazy" people living off of a percentage of what they would normally make if working? But then again, she is a millionaire, so she doesn't have to worry about needing unemployment, even if she got fired. Those economists she is talking are all conservative economists speaking of the ills of socialism. More of that "compassionate conservatism" Bush talked about, huh! Jeff and Donnie were completely right with unemployment, people have real bills to pay and unlike Erin Burnett, need every penny they made when they were working to pay them. Once again, this points to the need for media reform. How can a millioniare, who no matter how much she screws up, will never lose her job, sit on tv and "throw out" this conservative meme about the lazey unemployed people? I heard right wing pundits talking about teachers all week, discussing the need to get rid of bad teachers, because they aren't competent to teach our kids. Well how about this, people like Ms. Burnett, Cramer, Kudlow, Dobbs, etc aren't competent enough to give advice on the state of the economy nor the market, yet they are still on air mouthing off everyday the same nonsense that led this nation into this disaster. Isn't it funny, everytime these right wingers talk about the need to "get rid of the bad employees" it usually references the union employees, never the hacks that populate our airways misleading, and in some cases, downright lying to the American people. Ms. Burnett, I wish you could, as they say, walk a mile in the lower to middle class persons shoes, and then sit your ass on TV pondering the sincerity of the people needing and depending on their unemployment, especially in an economy where hiring is falling apart before our very eyes. Get a fucking clue!!!

CNBC is coming across a lot like Fox these days. Same exact technique.

I remember on my last stint on unemployment, the UI guy telling me no employer would want to hire me because of my age. And you are required to seek work while collecting. It seemed obvious at the time I better get started immediately. One thing about UI is that you can refuse work that doesn't pay at least half what you were making before. I think people should be allowed a period of time to try and obtain work comparable to what they had before heading to the nearest fast food restaurant for a job, because, once reemployed, that leaves less time to seek suitable work. Maybe that's where Burnett has a problem, but UI is characterized as "insurance" for a reason. With about a week or two left on unemployment, UI did get me an interview, but by that time, I had arranged to be rehired by the company that laid me off, so I didn't find out how that would have played out. Had to move out of state to get rehired though.

Right now, there are a lot more job seekers than jobs, so many people are going to have to ride out the entire UI claim, no matter what. One thing I do notice in these situations, that when extensions are on, people interact with the Employment office longer, hence they are counted longer, so the reported unemployment rate is higher. I don't think you are counted as unemployed if you don't interact with the unemployment office, which frequently happens when benefits run out.

Has that little fool ever collected unemployment? On unemployment, you either eat or you pay the electric bill. Who sits around waiting for the unemployment to run out when you have to live like that? What "serious economists" are saying people do? I'll bet this woman grew up with every toy she ever asked mommy and daddy for, went to college without having to work while she went and has never had to think about what she will give up so that her kids can have just a little more than what they need. In a just world, people like her would not be allowed to speak where they can be heard by other people who actually suffer deprivation.

In all seriousness I can never figure out what she contributes to an alleged business information cable network other than cheesecake. In all fairness to her I suppose you could say that about many others on CNBC. Erin hangs around this dope Cramer like some groupie and again I don't know what the hell her presence has to do with financial news reporting. It's kinda like the ornaments that Hugh Heffner has hanging around him whenever he is pictured. Nice try CNBC with the cheesecake!

"A $1.50 [fee] here, a $1.50 there," he said. "Forty cents for a balance inquiry. Fifty cents to have your card denied. Thirty-five cents to have your account accessed by telephone."

He was quoting fees listed in a brochure that goes out to every unemployed person in Pennsylvania who chooses to receive benefits via debit card. He was given the option when he filed for jobless payments: Wait 10 days for a check or get the card immediately. Like most of the 925,000 state residents who received unemployment benefits in February in Pennsylvania, he chose the debit card and only then, he says, did he learn about the fees.

I saw her on Real Time with Bill Maher and she was very rude to Peter Singer. She yelled at Professor Singer as if she "knew all" and he did not. I guess that is what happens to the glib people on TV.
