Ed Schultz Psycho Talk: Tea Baggers Upset About Lack of Public Transportation
By Heather Friday Sep 18, 2009 3:30pm
And the hits just keep on coming... GOP Rep Who Suggested D.C. Metro Hurt 9/12 Turnout Voted Against Metro Funding.
You may have heard that GOP Rep. Kevin Brady, staunch tea partier, is protesting that the taxpayer-funded D.C. Metro didn’t adequately prepare for the anti-government 9/12 rally. He’s even suggesting Metro’s failure to transport tea partiers may have hurt turnout.
A Democrat, however, points out to me that Brady voted against Federal funding for the very same Metro he’s blaming for offering the tea partiers substandard service.
Soon after the 9/12 march, Brady released a letter he sent to D.C. Metro griping that it had failed to transport tea partiers to the protest. Brady said they “were frustrated and disappointed that our nation’s capitol” failed to “provide a basic level of transit for them.”
Brady’s office complained about a train shortage. “METRO did not prepare for Tea Party March!” he tweeted. “People couldn’t get on, missed start of march. I will demand answers.”
But earlier this year, Brady voted against the stimulus package. It provided millions upon millions of dollars for all manner of improvements to … the D.C. Metro.

of anti-government programs wingers to complain about lack of government programs.
To themselves.
Lots of local governments don't provide public transportation to save their taxpayers money.
And I've heard that for every average one way bus ride to work and back could cost as much as $16.00 a day without massive federal aid.
I don't think they had extra trains for either the march for Women's Health in 2004 or the Anti-War March in 2006. We didn't expect them and figured out on our own how to get to the mall.
Maybe they expected valet parking at RFK stadium and a chartered bus?
Wingnuts are always oblivious to their propensity to talk out of both sides of their mouth. It's like they're schizophrenic.
like????
Like totally...
That's been part of right-wing strategy since the Reagan era: defund public services and agencies and then afterwards point to the insufficient remnants and say, "See, government doesn't work!" Americans are stupid enough to fall for it time and time again, or at least they have been for the past nearly 30 years.
you got to take their strategy a step further. Use in ineffectiveness as in excuse to cut funding thereby causing more ineffectiveness thereby creating more excuses to cut further funding until public services are obliterated leaving money for nothing but oil wars for Exxon Mobile and Halliburton, tax cuts for the rich and for corporate give aways.

"Bubba that's nothin but psycho talk, take a taxi!"
Lol!!
Texas mass transit: Stepping in a cow pies and sliding to the bottom of the hill.
the end Ed says , bubba take taxi , I would rather see them ride a catus .
How about a loaded pistol?
Congressman votes against the stimulus measure, the stimulus measure passes, DC Metro gets funding, DC Metro does a shitty job, Congressman complains to DC Metro about the shitty job they're doing despite getting more pork.
Sounds pretty much what any well-meaning liberal Congressperson would do, too. Good grief, and especially the letter-writing part; that's just a given with liberal complainers, only there'd be more like 20 Congresspersons' signature on the letter instead of one.
How many people watch Big Ed's show nowadays? Five? Ten?
And is it a requirement for employment on MSNBC's nightly line-up to do really bad middle school mock imitations of people, too?
that they didn't provide shitty service. The congressman is merely using that as an excuse to cover up the fact that not enough of the expected millions of mentally handicapped teabaggers couldn't read the bus schedules.
but that's not the story as Big Ed or this blog post reports it. It's the 'hypocrisy' of voting against funding for the DC Metro, then complaining because it didn't adequately prepare for the occasion.
I'm saying that's perfectly logical, and in keeping with the way both parties go about things. You vote against something you don't wish to see get funding; it gets funding; then you complain that even with the funding it's still being run in a lousy manner.
What's Psycho about that?
Besides Big Ed's weird Texas drawl, I mean.
Setting aside complaints from idiots who couldn't read a bus schedule do you have any evidence that the transit company has actually received the allocated funds and had time to implement the required improvements? What's the lead time for securing new buses if they've got the funds? The irony lies in the congressman complaining about service when he opposed improvements to service. There is nothing wrong with Ed pointing that out.
WTF are you talking about?
When ever I think republican I think insanity.
republicanism is a mental illness!
If one needs any proof these people are coo-coo, read the comments on this blog.

there fixed it , amazing what glasses will do
These fools are willing to suck up every government run taxpayer funded amenity they can but you damn well better keep government out of the idiots lives.
When Blue Cross Blue Shield drops their asses, they'll be the first ones running to the guvment with their hands out. I would love to be the guvment employee to slam the door in their face so hard tea leaves fly across the parking lot. "Work 2 extra jobs to pay for your broken leg and hospital stay you dumb white bitch! This is what you wanted! Though I don't know how you're going to handle the lunch rush at McDonalds with that bum leg but that's your fucking problem don't look for no socialized guvment help!"
That will make them hard to read.
Why the surprise, these right-wing idiots don't know there asses from a hole in the ground. Like the question at one of those unruly town halls about Medicare. The person was against "Obama's socialized medicine plan," but, he liked his Medicare...duh.
They managed to provide service to a crowd of two million didn't they? Poor planning indeed!
.
As i walk aroud the streets of your town
Trying not to bring myself down
The cries of the insane
Are throbbing in my brain
And the subway is not the underground .
Votes have consequences. You vote not to fund something because we don't want our tax dollars to go to some evil government agency, and... Voila!
The Teabagalooza was an epic failure; therefore blame it on the DC transit system. Seems to work for the rubes. Not to mention that for some of these idjits it was their first venture into
enemyYankee territory. They probably felt lost and bewildered most of the time.A district carved from Maryland and Virginia is Yankee territory?
(Historically correct though since it headed the Yankee forces in the Civil War).
what a subway was. They tried to drive their campers onto the mall, but were stopped by cops, who violated their right to assemble freely, and with their camping gear.

...there are some stupid teabaggers out there, and this guy sure put his foot in his mouth...(stoopid gooper)
...and incidentally I don't consider the average gooper/republican a teabagger. (most of them are johnny come lately poser wannbee's) who are jumping on the teabaggin' waggin just cuz it's cool...
...and to be fair I won't make fun of all democrats just because they belong to the same party as Lieberman, Specter, Pelosi, Conyers, Ried, and Baucus...(snicker/giggle)
...It kinda reminds me of Obama being a constitutional scholar...
and then voting for the patriot act.
or Obama saying he wont have any lobbyists in his administration...
...and then appointing a whole bunch of them....
He merely taught classes in Constitutional Law. Is that too fine a point for you? The difference between a scholar and a professor? Are you drunk again?
For a such a large, spread out city Washington DC is quite easy to get around. Excluding an excellent METRO rail system, walking, biking or roller blade is best and Ed recommended grabbing one of the 100,000 taxis but, there are buses both public and private (double deckers), jitneys, ducks, bicycle & motor scooter rentals, horse carriages and yes, even rickshaws.
The problem is that these folks are either too fucking lazy or too fucking stupid to get around. Me thinketh it be a bit o' both.
Keep your government hands off my Medicare!
I'd like to take credit for this stimulus funded program, even though I opposed the stimulus!
I can't stand all this government spending by Obama! Why can't we go back to the president who gave us two terms of spending 12 billion a month in Iraq and simultaneously gave several tax cuts to the very rich!
Officials who cheat on their spouses should resign!
Homosexuality is an abomination!
Why didn't these free-market patriots use the Private Taxi Option in the first place?
Or here's another thought... it's called a 'march', and from the looks of it many of them could have used some exercise.
so...
they expect government service when it comes to PUBLIC transit (and Medicare, etc), but are all tied up in knots over the government making sure that every American is covered medically.
Just one more bit of evidence that this has absolutely nothing at all to do with the government being involved in these things
They are simply tied up in knots over the government making sure that others are covered medically. They are selfish, ignorant pigs who can't see that they're being played and raped by big business.
Played, used, punked, manipulated. The big boys never thought it would be this easy.
I'm guessing that you couldn't find the answer by way of a tweet.
Most Reslugs decided to just stay home and wait for their welfare checks.
