but he does come across as someone who is usually respectful of other people's differences of opinion.
(As opposed to say, Giulliani, Palin, Bush, etc...)
Anyone see that wedding? Denny had (as always) some good points to make on gay marriage.
Only Stewart has the balls to ask these questions and put the gay-haters like Huckabee in the hot seat. I was stunned! I am a huge fan and avid watcher of Stewart and I still was shocked to see his bluntness and forwardness with Huck.
Huck, still, got off too easy in my mind.
If we can ban gay marriage for the "sacrament" that it is, then we should ban divorce and sham marriages that happened daily in this country.
There is NO reason that gay marriage ought to be considered as 'different' from any other marriage.
Marriage is an ancient custom designed to ensure the property of elites is passed along in an orderly manner.
It has NO other purpose, traditionally.
Huck still misses his first love: a pretty little red stump-broke heifer that, unfortunately, the family tuned into steaks when the Huck was 17.
Can you not read into my qoutation marks? I was being sarcastic!
I was praising Stewarts for his efforts and courage to have a backbone on the issue.
two people having a conversation with differing opinions and no one is yelling. This is very well done. Stewart goes a long way to model how interviews can be conducted (and also gets Huck on the record that words do matter). The only downside is that Huck comes off looking reasonable.
I didn't see this when it was first posted and all I can say now is Wow! Stewart actually challenged his guest to defend his positions instead of just letting him spout talking points like a "real" journalist would do. Brilliant. My favorite part was when Stewart said religion was much more of a life style choice than homosexuality. Brilliant! That should be the motto for the all gays.
