I think it is phucking messed up that guns are showing up at these Health reform rallies.
I am for gun rights but come on some one is going to get hurt or worse yet get killed.
I wasn't crazy about President Bush and I would feel the same way if guns were showing up at a rally He was speaking at.

I would imagine that each of these screw balls had about a half dozen infrared laser targets painted on them from the Secret Service. We are living in the movie Idiocracy!!!!

TellarH2's picture

My only concern is that these people are going to distract the secret service and other law enforcement agencies from a real threat to the President or anyone else at one of these events. I'm proud that the President hasn't overreacted like Bush has, but there's a lot of truth in the fact that people at these rallies are carrying firearms legally.

I strongly suspect that if there is some attempt on the President's life at one of these events, it'll be by someone that sneaks a weapon in rather than by someone who carries it openly. My worst fear in that case is that someone does take a shot, and there is any harm to the President and civilians caught in the crossfire if Mr. Open Carry decides to do anything other than take cover with his hands clearly visible.

....people with guns and follow them and tap their phones and chit.

LeftandLeft's picture

They are hoping progressives come down to their level and bring guns too. No excuse to bring a gun to a health care rally.

Btw, that uncle tom plant with the Ak-47 is proof that the Republicans are worried that the images of angry all white people is a horrendous failure.

That the name of a new rap group?

I always wanted to see one with the name Tone-Def.

What's the next one-upmanship? Some nutcase driving a Hummer 1 with a 50 cal sticking through the roof? Where will this stop?

Some of them are using the argument "the Government should fear the people, not the other way around" now.

w/ THAT gun, and was never pulled over for DWB 'a broken tail light' (at the scene, by Officer Plod, w/ a night stick) and shot 47 times in 6 seconds by 12 cops for the assault weapon in his car.

Conclusion: A white guy brought it and the black guy was there to get it and carry it around. White people took it home. They gave the black guy bus fare, because he never would have been able to get a cab.

Sooth Hussein Sayer's picture

I assume the media was interviewing the black man not because of the gun -- but simply because he was the only non-white face ever seen at one of those teabagger rallies.

Serendipitydude's picture

they made that public after the event.

:)

CitizenX's picture

You are probably not far from the truth. I know some of these people down in Arizona, militia members and such. I would give a million to one odds that it was decided by others to approach the black guy to bring the gun to defuse any racial overtones to someone bringing an assault rifle.

And Wyatt Cenac did as good a job as could be asked for in parodying the right wing gunslinging loons that are starting to populate every event where people gather to talk to each other.

Unfortunately for those who make their living by satire... sometimes the real wack jobs are even loonier than the parody.

ThunderMonkey's picture

that Wyatt Cenac will be the next Daily Show correspondent that will get his own gig.

The bits he did with the elderly in Florida before the elections was gold.

Since a large number of these cockbites claim to be

"Neither Republican or Democrat; Harrumph.."

I gotta question...

"Where the frakkin' frak were you when Cowboy Dumbya was smearing his alchoholic feces all over your beloved Constitution?!?

HUH!?

The retards have the new and revised Republican Constitution, It only contains the 1st and 2nd amendments, with emphasis on the 2nd.

nor religion... There is only a 2nd half of the 2nd amendment in the Republican constitution...

Phylter's picture

I stand corrected. I totally forgot about that "freedom of religion" thing, being an atheist mahself...

This would be even funnier if it weren't so true.

scortch's picture

you just have to laugh (at states like Arizona and New Hampshire).

for days now, and demonstrating that thought in such an absurd manner! :)

Again for all the conservatives who read or comment here: Just because the 2nd amendment grants you gun rights, doesn't mean it's smart or safe to carry in every single situation!

Somehow I don't think the Founders intended for people to exercise their constitutional rights just to be obstinate assholes...maybe it's just me, but I would assume they meant for us to exercise those rights in an intelligent manner. Just saying!

Edit - Sadly, I don't these folks are going to see how absurd and dangerous it is to carry at the town hall meetings...It's lost on them.

Back in 1787, there were only flintlock rifles & pistols, one shot per load and no police force or standing army existed. That was what they framed the 2nd amendment around. They couldn't have imagined how weapons technology would expand to where it has...

I was thinking that flintlocks back then were the super-weapons and that most folks would have swords, axes, hammers, pitchforks and torches...

Timjoebillybob's picture

framed the freedom of speech part of the 1st around telegraphs and the spoken un-amplifier word? There is no way they could of imagined how technology could of expanded to things like radio, tv, internet... There have been arguments for that also.

How about freedom of the press? Again they could not of imagined radio or television or the internet. Or the technology that allows millions of papers to be printed in a very short time. Heck the first non hand operated press wasn't patented until 1810, prior to that the presses in use could print out a blistering 250 pages per hour.

pissed off patricia's picture

I thought he did a great job by going to the voting booth even though there was no election just proving he had a right to vote. Perfect analogy to the gun people taking their guns to a health care rally even though there was no need for them to have them there. Both cases express the ridiculousness of what people could do even though it makes zero sense.

There is a town hall meeting in the West Palm Beach area this afternoon and one of the local teevee stations was talking about it like it was going to be a public wrestling match or something. They are running it live on their site and said they would break in their programing if anything should happen. They too seemed to forget the purpose of the meeting and instead highlighted the possibility for "something to happen".

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

next door is having the townhall meeting with their Congresscritter, Kevin McCarthy. It will be aired live on more than one of the local TV stations. Since the district includes Bakersfield, there are plenty of wingnuts and teabaggers (including the kind that would like to carry guns to these meetings). I'm afraid to watch...

But we need to unlock the code whereby extending and protecting access to healthcare could be framed as a threat, and how that meme has any valency whatsoever. At the lunatic fringe end there's the fear that healthcare reform will kill this guy's family and baby Trigg, but there are plenty of people who fear that healthcare reform would harm them. How did this mindfuck happen and take hold? Not a rhetorical question, here--we need to figure this out.

Bcre8ve's picture

I'll bet that if he had shown up in baggy pants and a basketball jersey, the town hall teabaggers wouldn't be so quick to jump to his defense.

Imagine crybaby Glen Beck defending the right of "gangbangers" to open carry semi-automatic weapons on the streets.

And then, of course, is the example the GOP set by having a man arrested for politely asking Cheney a question, eegads....in PUBLIC!!!!

These "people" are shameless.

for the first 15 minutes of his show. It was great. He did not let them up. Classic Stewart.

They're going on a three-week break.

There's no end to the craziness that TDS writers are going to miss during that time.

It never fails... they go on vacation and something nutty happens, like Larry Craig getting busted in the men's room... or Sarah Palin retiring before her term is up.

I remember hearing that last night about the three week hiatus. I missed Colbert last night. Will he be gone for the same three weeks?

I had to delete my DVR recording of it this morning because it was so wonky I couldn't enjoy it...

I'm sure it was great! :)

You know, while I was deployed last year I had an M-16 that I was required to take with me everywhere I went. But it was never loaded. I was in an active war zone, everyone around me was packing as well and the only ones who had loaded weapons were the Ugandan guards and the Peruvian guards that we had assigned to guard all of our buildings. Our weapons were required to be unloaded (but we always had ammo on us) at all times, only loaded if we were being engaged or if we were on the range.

The guy with the M-4 (thats what it looks like to me) has his loaded, he would get into so much trouble in the Army. At least he had the muzzle pointed down so he's not compleatly unsafe.

Due to Arizona sun, drivers wave at each other by moving their hands close to the front or side windows. Damascus black drivers gloves don't help because drivers are wearing shades to start with.
When in doubt, a thumbs up will do - It looks so union and in AZ it can be construed as a gesture of defiance in a "right to work state".

Guns are allowed on Arizona transit buses by anyone except the poor driver (golly gee, we're safe now).
