Due to a recent server outage, our video archives are currently unavailable. We are working as fast as we can to remedy this. Thanks for your understanding.

After a really unfortunate visual of John Boehner that I don't have enough brain-bleach to get out of my head, Jon Stewart slammed these "tea partiers" (note to Jon Stewart, there is no "tea party") for still not being satisfied with the outcome of this ridiculous debt ceiling hostage taking.

As Stewart noted, they control less than one half of one chamber of Congress and even though our deficit is primarily a result of Republican policies like the Bush tax cuts, they still won't "take the win" because they're pissed off that "government still exists."

STEWART: This whole process has been like, you're in a bank, it's a negotiation where you've got some hostages and after getting everything you wanted, you're still going "Oh, and one last demand. I still get to kill the hostages, right?"

That about sums it up. They're all of the Grover Norquist ilk where they want to shrink government to the size of a baby and then drown the baby in a bathtub. People who do not believe in government working should not be allowed to be running our government, but here we are. I can only hope everyone of these astroturf, Koch-funded TeaBirchers finds themselves looking for new employment after the next election or whenever the rest of them have to run again.

Maybe we can get Stewart to ask one of these days as many of our commenters have suggested here and as I would also suggest myself, if these "free market" anti-regulation, anti-government zealots want to live in a country where their ideology has come to fruition, can we get them all to move to Somalia and leave the rest of us that still want government to work for the people that have elected our politicians into office, and that they're supposed to be representing, the hell alone? I suspect that's too much to ask for from the crowd that just wants to burn the whole house down.

The title is "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Capitulation." Compromise implies that Obama was interested in actually getting something out of this for the people who voted for him -- but he's shown absolutely no f----ing interest (much less ability) in doing that.

Nope , he got exactly what he and most of the Democrats wanted , he ( they ) did not have to take this , no way , no how , no excuses this time . The big boys , who coincidentally have all that money to hand out , stay protected and sheltered .

Oops.

Apparently the first half of the bit was critical of Obama and the Democrats.

Sorry about that. Never mind.

I guess we're supposed to continue pretending that everything is Boehner and the Teabaggers fault?

I think that the "Tea Party" is dead.
How/why you ask?
I think that before the 2010 election the Baggers had enough energy (plus the fact that Obama disappointed his base and they didn't show up) to get these radical bozo's elected: but if you've noticed since then that the Baggers haven't been able to muster up any crowd of more than a hundred or so.

They don't even seem to be buying Limbaugh's tea, and they are the biggest DittoDunces of them all.

that Obama and the Democrats go willingly against our demands. Not just what the liberals demand; but, the clear concensus of the the voting public is being thwarted.

It's like a husband cheating on his wife. If it is your wife, not good - but not a big deal. If it's your wife - BIG DEAL! Obama is clearly not faithful. It's time he hit the curb. (along with the rest of the the bought-and-paid-for Congress and Media.)

Job growth slows and layoffs rise to 16-month high, reports say. If I was a Republican I'd be feeling pretty damned good , they're having great success sabotaging this economy / this country , the cave ( in ) man and the Democrats are making it real easy for them .

and that's exactly why the GOP leadership didn't really want to stand up to the teabagger caucus. And why they will oppose any sort of stimulous/jobs legislation.

note to Jon Stewart, there is no "tea party"

Heh, C&L ought to stop using that term too. They named themselves the Teabaggers, but when the media began to subtly change it to the Tea Party, so went everyone else, including C&L.

Funny how that never happened with "Democrat Party." The media did not make sure the derogatory version wasn't used.

Of course, at this point, I'm happy to deride that party as well.

Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?

I always call 'em Baggers cuz that's what they are.

What's the deal with watching Stewart clips in Canada? They play fine in Korea.

I missed the details of the budget deal, was it "a grand historic bargain"? (or more BS) ...(prolly BS)

If I can no longer pause of mute the ads, I am just going to stop visiting crooks and liars. I was watching this video and the phone rang during the ad part, couldn't pause the ad or mute the sound. Call was inportant and I reached quickly for my amp volume, knocking over my coffee all over my desk and carpet. I have had it with ads. We are completely inundated with them in every aspect of our lives. Can't even go to a live football game with out it being interrupted by ad time. When I am on line, I want full control over the audio and video. If I am intereseted in an add, I will watch it. But I will be dammed if I have to concede complete control of yet another aspect of daily living to FN ads. I have already dropped my cable TV because of the time consuning, repetitive, stupid, BS ads. Its just unbearable. Crooksandliars - please add back in the audio/video controls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My prediction: In the future, you will be required to have a web cam and microphone to use the internet. The webcam will track your retinas to make sure you don't look else where and the microphone will monitor the sound to make sure you can't mute it at any point, including cutting the speaker wires. For every 3 minutes you spend on line, a 1 minute ad will come up. You will not be able to continue until the webcam and mic confirm you watched/listened to the ad. Maybe then I will just read books. No - they will be outlawed except for Kindle - for every 3 pages you read, 1 ad will come up .............................

Edwin's picture

Seems to me you're a little ticked off about ads today.

far left loon >.<

like Comedy Central, and we are required to carry the content through their embed. We are not allowed to record video from many sites and offer it on our player. We have to use theirs, so they get the clicks and the ad revenue. We get take down notices served by attorneys otherwise.
If you quit coming to this site because something another site (we link to) does, it doesn't make much sense, but I can't stop you, like I can't stop the ads.

I personally use my manual volume control for all ads, and often pass up content that forces an ad. I sympathize; I think we feel similarly about the ads.

......and yesterday, and I am sure to be in the future as well. Do you think I don't have good reason to be? Maybe it is just me but I really suspect most people are getting increasingly annoyed with ads. There is almost no where you can go or any activity you can engage in where ads don't descend on you like mosquitos on a summer night. I pay around $800 for season football tickets to my local university. It used to be the game was played at the tempo dictated by the game, but no more. There are constant TV time outs that can adversly change the momentum of one team or another. For $800, shouldn't I be able to watch a live football game with out the infuriating ad timeouts? I am serious about what I said before, at some point, you will have to watch ads based on time you are on line or number of pages you click through. It will be as bad as TV. Sorry to be off topic here, but I hope crooksandliars, as well as other websites will put some limits on the control ads are quickly gaining on the whole internet experience. If you feel the same as I do, please make a similar request.

Edwin's picture

Unfortunately, I think ads are here to stay so you might have to consider changing your habits.

I figured that maybe crooksandliars had some kind of limitations imposed on it due to ads. I did not know that you had to use thier player, so maybe I am being to hard on your website. I should have pointed out that this is becomming common on most websites. I just don't think it is fair for internet users to loose this much control over the ads they have to endure. Can't somebody somewhere do something about this? Another prediction: in the future, players will disable your ability to mute or reduce the volume of the sound card, might even automatically turn it up like they do on TV commercials. Anyway, maybe I will just stop watching video content. But I suspect content in general will be increasingly video based, you can guess why.

invite one of these fine self proclaimed tea baggin' members of congress onto the show for an interview.
i am sure that there would be much fun for all.

and i still don't like the "hostage" label, it was extortion and blackmail.

Good to see that Jon Stewart is slamming the "I'm Still Not Happy, I Want It All" Teabagging fuckheads.

However, I am still not over the "Can't We All Just Get Along" rally Stewart hosted in Washington. There were false equivalencies galore in his message that both sides were equally to blame for the partisan wrangling and gridlock.

After the Democrats regained the House in 2006 and a Senate majority, yes, they should have forced progressive legislation down the Republican's throat. However the power of the Republican filibuster threats and a sitting Republican president at the time, combined with their propaganda calliope of FOX News and a Beltway Media indifference muted whatever advantage the Democrats had.

After Obama came to power, the administration became so enamored of "bipartisanship" that it has rolled over to just about every challenge from the minority Republicans in the House and Senate. plus Blue Dogs in both houses. It's no wonder that the vast majority of Americans not living inside the Beltway voted for change in 2010, and they got lied to and fucked again by the Teabags which were an invention of the Republican National Committee and FOX PRAVDA News.

Stewart, Obama and the Democratic legislators that are really trying to improve our country have got to realize the both parties have members that are under influence from big money interests. They want to steal our country and replace it with a corporation with a board of a directors and a C.E.O. responsible only to their stockholders which doesn't include liberals, poor, or the middle class.

In other words, we are in a fucking class war with the plutocrats and oligarchs which are controlling everything we value and theyare ready to EAT US UP!
