The Daily Show's Jon Stewart has a bit of fun with the Hollywood elite attending this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner, and slaps around Bill Bennett for his feigned outrage over Wanda Sykes' and Stephen Colbert's performances at the event.

Stewart: So sometimes comedians are so offensive that Bill Bennett and his lovely wife Elaine Bennett have to leave the room because offensive jokes are not a hallmark of good decent society. They are over the line. By the way what's waterboarding? Is that within the line?

Bennett: These are serious measures. This is not torture. These were serious measures. But I don't care if you do call it torture.

Stewart: Bad jokes and gay marriage are destroying this country. But torture can save it.

Repukes always find "Truth" offensive. 8yrs of their saying anything and everything about Dems and now it's: wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. The f*&^%@ whining mofos.

waterboarding or that saturday night live mothers day skit.

Both sides of the spectrum are apparently "sick" beyond repair.

Bill thinks torture is when he can't get a drink at the casinos

Blue Lensman's picture

It's almost impossible to concentrate on that damned spinning wheel when you're parched enough to drink from a puddle.

His wife really left the room because she is sick and tired of him uing the same torture techniques on her at home, not because she has one religious or moral bone in her hag-like body.

..is that nothing is being done about the waterboarding/torture we subjected prisoners to.
Mr. Bennett, they were jokes and people laughed and maybe you didn't like the jokes and that's fine but Waterboarding is torture and it is illegal.

I don't know what good ol' Bill is so mad about. Afterall, it is the peak of horse racing here in America. He could have made a fortune on Mine That Bird. Even if he took a bath at the Kentucky Derby he still has the Preakness and Belmont to look forward to. Come on Bill, smile.

P.S. Big Business is readying for war over Obama's plan to end tax havens:

....while defending torture with the same breathe. We can't ever allow these sick fucks to get the Country back.

That defends the last eight years has any credibility and certainly not bill b.
How does he have this job of spewing bullshit on the air?

Okay, I got it. According to Bill, we should be subjecting detainees to wanda's jokes.

about Rush. I can still see the pictures of him shaking all over as he mocked Michael J. Fox. I remember that he was very big on jailing all the dope heads in this country and throwing away the key. I've heard his feminazi remarks, his anti-Hilary crap, the nasty things he said about black quarterbacks, about Barack the Magic Negro. He sucks and someone should beat up on him about it each and every regrettable day of the rest of his miserable life.

Other than that, he's a great American.

Quiz: who said this?

'If You Want to Reduce Crime... Abort Every Black Baby'

I do know that it’s true that if you wanted to reduce crime, you could — if that were your sole purpose, you could abort every black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.

Bill Bennett, some douchebag I've never heard of who, not surprisingly, has a radio show. More detailed transcript at Turbanhead.

he is a pro-life Catholic, except for the abortion thing and the waterboarding, both of which seem a trifle anti-life.

Bill Bennett shows us the face of the new Republican Party. Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Phil Gramm, Pat Buchanan, and their progeny Eric Cantor and Bobby Jidal. Grumpy old farts with a total lack of humor.

When George W. Bush was making the jokes at the 2004 White House Correspondents dinner about looking for the WMD:

"Gee....they gotta be around here somewhere? Maybe under here? (Looks under podium). Nope. Maybe over here? Nope." Etc.

One has to wonder how "funny" the parents/wives/husbands etc. of those American soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians who were killed/wounded thought Bush's "humor" was?

I was just about to ask that same question. Was Bill yucking it up then? That was only about a year into this insane war and already bush thought searching for WMD was fu*king funny.

and she was relentlessly attacked by the same people who now pretend to be offended by Wanda Sykes... I think. I can't keep track of the hypocrisy any more.

Stewart and Colbert are not comedians. They are the only great moralists that America possesses in this day and time.

Also, the fact that Bennett emits flatulence which the right wing calls morality is not comic. It is grotesque. As an ex-Catholic, I am embarassed for those who share his religious affiliations. The man obviously never learned anything from his religious upbringing aside from rigid adherence to authority. Dullard!

Candideinnc

Stewart and Colbert my not be comedians, but they sure do make me laugh a lot. Last night Colbert ate canned cat food.

Stewart and Colbert have kept me from losing my mind these past years.

"Stewart and Colbert have kept me from losing my mind these past years."

I'll second that.

I wonder if you hit a republican's elbow if they would feel it. They just don't seem to have a funny bone in their body.

Good comedy is 90% truth. That explains why the repugs just don't get it.

It makes no sense EXCEPT TO THEM! I'm giving them the credit here. I think it DOES make sense to them. I don't know how...but it must, because they all repeat this total insanity with a straight and sober looking face.

bill bennett is a PIG! When limpballs falls off his next 13 year old and breaks his stupid neck, bill will be there to carry the cross.

Why do conservatives have such sticks up their butts? I mean really, they have absolutely no sense of humor. The only joke that might have been a little on the edge was the one about Rush, but considering the insults that come out of his mouth toward liberals/Dems, it was much less than he deserved.

Lighten up, tubby. Then again, we are talking about conservatives here.

Van's picture

Rush Limbaugh deserves every bit of the mockery. He's an asshole.

Those who expect compassion need to be prepared to give it. Limbaugh should have returned from his rehab and stated on his show: "I was wrong. I got addicted to drugs, so now I know what addicts go through. We need to treat drug addiction as a public health problem, not as a criminal problem."

If he ever takes such a position, then I will admit that such mockery is out of line. Until he takes such a position publicly, that fat slob is just another rich, white guy who got away with something because he was able to hire an $800 an hour lawyer to keep his ass out of prison.

Fuck him.

itslmentry's picture

If it were Denis Leary, Jim Norton, or Dennis Miller making fun of liberals it would be loads of fun wouldn't it Bill? What a puke this guy is! He who made such a big deal out of morality with his stupid let's go back to the 17th century book all the while gambling his ass off.

Andy K's picture

He's not a conservative or a neocon. Took shots at Bushco whenever he got a chance. Leary might not always be pc, but he's on the liberal side.

Count_Slappy's picture

If calling people who disagree with you traitors is so offensive, why did you do for 8 years under Bush, Rush? Every day of his career he's called Americans who disagree with him 'traitors.'

calgarylady's picture

I loved the bit about Elaine Bennett. Jon Stewart is awesome!

Kathy in St. Louis's picture

hypocritical gamblers who have lots of really bad habits themselves, such as Mr Bennett, more offensive than comedians, not nearly so as waterboarding. There is entirely too much airtime to fill on cable when a jerk like this is one weekly. He offers nothing new to any sensible discussion or solution to the country's problems. All he does is spout the GOP line.
