And the winner is....Sean Hannity. Runners up Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller and Dave Schultheis.
Bill-O and Miller who used to be funny a long time ago when he had Clinton to beat up on and before he discovered his love for Bush and Fox Noise and sold his soul for whatever they're paying him now are clueless on President Obama's statements on Prop 8. Think Progress has the story on Colorado Senator Dave Schultheis and his opposition to HIV tests for pregnant women. And here's more from The Political Carnival on Sean Hannity for his over the top request for a revolution in this country.
Can anyone imagine what the right wing radio nut job circuit would have done to anyone on the left if they'd have said something this extreme one month after their buddy Bush was elected? I'm not sure what needs to happen to remedy this B.S. since I'm all for freedom of speech but this is completely over the top for anyone that a major news organization wants to pretend to be credible.
I think Hannity just might have jumped the shark on this one. I'm pretty sure Fox News won't care. They'll keep on replaying the bad episode of Happy Days until the zombies quit watching the reruns.

this quartet won this award now 200? They are getting to be the Brooks and Dunn and Alabama of Countdown.
Do you think the latest nutcase in FL saw the Hannity anti-immigrant rant? At least two dead.....and only in their 20s. My heart breaks for their families and our country.
Hannity and O'Reilly should be drinking themselves silly at an Irish pub and going home to beat their wives, rather than trying to ruin another country. Kidding. Some of my best friends are ignorant Papists.
We are ALL for freedom of speech but Hannity is calling for lawlessness. His speech is treasonous and he must be made to STFU. I don't have any ideas on how to achieve that. Fairness Doctrine wouldn't cover it, I'm afraid.
and thank you for posting this, Heather and C&L!
You give me sanity in these trying times. Keep up the great work.
Where do 'family values' Repugs go to party !

I'm a Democrat. A patriotic one for sure.
.
"A man sometimes starts up a patriot, only by disseminating discontent, and propagating reports of secret influence, of dangerous counsels, of violated rights, and encroaching usurpation. This practice is no certain note of patriotism. To instigate the populace with rage beyond the provocation, is to suspend publick happiness, if not to destroy it. He is no lover of his country, that unnecessarily disturbs its peace. Few errours and few faults of government, can justify an appeal to the rabble; who ought not to judge of what they cannot understand, and whose opinions are not propagated by reason, but caught by contagion." Samuel Johnson
Cool. See ya. Please take the parts farthest away from Canada, we don't want you near us.

You go { Deleted, Abusive, Lets keep it civil. Thank You. SiteMonitor} A real antiAmerican { While I agree with you, I have to pull this one. SiteMonitor}
Dennis Miller was NEVER funny. He only had two talents, smirking and sneering.
I didn't know Dennis could sneer.
You beat me to it. Arrogant asswipe, yes, but funny...
I've never actually seen this guy talk -- but from what I know of him - funny simply CANNOT be a part of the picture.

... but why would the government require HIV tests for pregnant women? Or any medical procedure for anybody?
to better protect the fetus? Just guessing here.
...and other stresses are know to produce false positives. Sells drugs.
Of every three women testing HIV-positive, two are certain to be false positive. found at http://healtoronto.com/pospre.html
There are medications that a pregnant woman who has HIV or AIDS can take that SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the chance that her child will be born HIV-positive. So some states require HIV testing to make sure that the mother can be given the medication. Preventing the children of HIV-positive mothers from being born with the virus not only improves the quality of their life, but it can also help cut down on costs associated with having to treat HIV-positive children (something you'd think Republicans would be in favour of.)
They can't think that far ahead.
But prescription by legislature is a severe invasion of privacy.
...and drink yer fluoride.
the objection, but in many ways its no different than - as Brad mentions - the requirement many cities have of flurodating the water to prevent tooth problems, or the laws requiring that children be vaccinated prior to entering school (though I know that's been getting a lot of heat lately.)
In any event, if you're going to object to it, doing so on the basis of it being an invasion of privacy is a MUCH better reason than this goofball in Colorado who objects to it because he things people should have to live with the consequences of promiscuity. (Especially since in this particular situation, there's a presumption that any pregnant woman with HIV has to have been promiscuous - which certainly is not always the case - and because it would be the child who'd be "living with the consequences")
throwing all that logic into the discussion.
Good job. :-)
Look at that sweet, mottled fluoride smile! Systemic medication where topical formulas work makes sense. No reason to deprive the range of kids who can benefit from fluoride, just because it is dangerous to the health of some others. Bottled water makes better sense than bottled fluoride treatments. What else can we do with all that industry toxic waste? It's win-win!
I never cared much for that reasoning. It seems to be used quite a bit by the right especially on freedom from religion issues (e.g. it says "In God We Trust" on our money so why not teach creationism). I'm not saying your a wingnut (far from it judging by your well thought out posts).
And yes, some people have floridated (sp?) water, but there is nothing requiring anyone to drink it. I have major problems with mandatory vaccination, yet I can see a public health interest there which is not present in testing a pregnant woman.
In any case, I checked the statute: any woman may refuse the test. So, I got no problems.
In any case, thanks for the responses.
It was perfect.
Some people come here just to try to get a rise out of you. That's why they may be ignored.
I suggest we all put them on our Ignore user list and then they can rave and rant and no one will see them.
Sorta like a fart in a windstorm.
Actually, I don't mind. I like to hear lots of opinions. Society should be a plurality. When I read the crazy ones, I'm just glad... well, glad I'm me and only mildly nuts, not whole hog nuts.
[Are you done posting here? Because I'm about a gnat's hair away from finishing your tenure on the site-Sitemonitor]
They have only encouraged this kind of stupid behavior in teh country. For a group that claims it "loves murka" they sure do hate it and use their shills on talk radio to spread that "love."
If I could use just one word to describe the whole bunch - it would be stupid. I can sometimes see why these nitwits don't believe in evolution - in their circle - they don't even evolve intellectually.
I keep seeing the comment " ... Miller used to be funny ..." -- and I have to tell you - I don't believe it for one minute - not one.

Heather,
What these neocon propagandists are doing isn't exercising prerogatives of the press, or the harmless exercise of free speech. It is incitement to hate crimes. More and more, it is becoming incitement to insurrection and even sedition. They are operating an ongoing enterprise that exists only to defraud the public. These are not Constitutionally protected activites, and further, they are crimes under federal laws, including the RICO Act. More, they are in violation of the terms and conditions of FCC licenses as regards obligatory requirements to inform the public and serve the public's interests.
The thing to do about it? Create a national petition to be forwarded to the Department of Justice, asking that they investigate and put a stop to any acts by these entities that violate criminal law. More, any citizen who can demonstrate financial harm can file a suit in their nearest Federal District Court, bringing RICO charges against the broadcast companies and their personalities and employees if:
the companies are engaged in interstate commerce?...√
they are involved in an ongoing pattern of criminal behavior?...√
that behavior occured within the last 10 years?...√
the crimes are listed in the RICO Act?...√(fraud, wire fraud, intimidation, conspiracy to commit same)
and,
there is a demonstrable financial harm resulting from the crimes?...√(Tax bills resulting from support for government programs and acts that they propagandized using the tools of coordinated, willful and pervasive lies and deceit, presented as truthful information and facts and which prevented millions form formulating informed judgments about issues and events. Absent these numerous acts of fraud, it is doubtful that support for the ruinous policies of the Bush administration and Republican-controlled Congress and Judiciary could ever have been extracted from the public: Iraq war, police state laws, acts of theft and plunder of US treasure by the government, etc. These things have created debts and tax bills that we and our great grandchildren will be paying down.).
A class action RICO suit would nicely address most of the MSM's abuses of the public.
There is also the issue of anti-trust. These propagandists are only able to practice their dark arts because of their control of the media. The "MSM" is the offending party. It is composed of 5 corporations that control all of broadcast and TV news and three principal corporations that control over 90% of radio news. They are coordinated among themselves, and together they controll almost the entirety of mass-consumed information. As a cartel, they exercise de facto monopoly powers. Between them, they also control principal sources of print news media. It is only through monopoly control of the principal sources of mass-consumed information that propaganda can be effective as a means of mass manipulation, using the tools of deception, lies, disinformation and deception through ommission. Using propaganda as the instrument of abuse and means of betraying the Public, this cartel has thus harmed the public good, by exploiting it's collective monopoly power. The DoJ can be petitioned to initiate an anti-trust action against the cartel's member corporations, in order to correct the harms they have wrought upon our society. Abuses that occur through malign exercise of monopoly power are not Constitutionally protected activites.
Mr Obama has, as yet, given no indication what his plans are regarding the FCC, specifically reforming it and returning it to integrity. Even so, citizens can file complaints for obscenity and fraud on line, proceding on the premise that there is nothing more obscene in the world of journalism than lying to the public. And, it can be successfully argued that the lies are effective instruments of public harm, because they are presented by those who use their credibility as authority figures, wherein their position of trustworthy authority is derived from their grants and franchises to represent the public's interest as disseminators of supposed truth and facts. Several million on-line complaints would force the FCC to act, even as it exists in its current, deeply corrupt, state.
If the voice of the people becomes loud enough and if the complaints and requests become numerous enough, the respective government agencies will be forced to act.
for the info and I'm not a lawyer and just a your every day working person who knows a whole lot more about computers or how electrical circuits work than FCC laws. When it comes to legal mumbo jumbo I'm as lost as someone else would be if I tried to describe what I did at work every day to them. You don't need to know the legal ins and outs to know something is just fundamentally wrong with someone being allowed to spew propoganda daily with no consequences. I'm also more than highly aware of the media ownership issues and the problems they've caused.
I think your suggestions are good ones. Maybe we can try to get a group of progressive blogs together to start pushing for some of the items you noted here and see if it does any good. I'll bring it up with the site and see where it goes.
Hey ! I'm all for a revolution , lets have a Stalin style purge of Hannity , Limbaugh and all the rest .
I used to refer to him only as Sean Inanity.
I think I'll have to amend that to Sean Insanity.
[Deleted. Off topic-Sitemonitor]
it smells like desperation to me
Brad
Dont answer that, I already know. Do you think we should point out that the last time conservatives tried an armed insurrection of the government over a certain Illinois senator being elected president, they lost really, really badly. And this time they dont even have Robert E. Lee to win several battles for them. Fat boy and Hammety can`t even measure up to R.E. Lee`s toenail clippings.
All they will get is Ruby Ridge X 100, because if theyare really dumb enough to think the military will ignore the president enmass and follow them into treason, then they really dont know jack about the military. And if they think it will be reddawn, the Apache attack copters will have a convincing argument to disenthrall them of their delusions.
Why is it you keep going on and on about Fox and oreilly and hannity?
The converted know about their fucked up attitude, their millions of supporters still love them, nothing will change it, not the endless critical atricles here, not the fact we the left and middle left think they are mindless priks...they will continue to be multi millionaires because the constitution of these here US
I got cut off mid sentence...because the Constitution of these here US allows them to shoot their mouths off and allows anyone who agrees with them to do just that...I suspect the better method of attack at Fox and their fuckwit commentators is ignore them...of course that defeats the purpose of this blog...its time intelligence overcame materialism and the pesonal profit of the blogmaster....this is not assisting the rebuilding of this country by highlighting wankers like oreilly and hannity
is one thing. Incitement to violence is another. Witness the recent spate of wingnut shootings of perceived liberals or the outrageous number of death threats against the President. CPAC this week and statements by Reich-wing leaders over the past couple of weeks indicates that the entire subculture of anti-democratic fascism in the US is approaching critical mass. How many murders and acts of treason will it take before the nation moves against them. I agree with Paul, the media fails to report the rising tide of violence resulting from its own calls for violence. To me that's direct culpability in the commission of a crime. Sure as hell more direct than purporting responsibility to some musician for garbled lyrics in a recording.
Fox are unlikely to care that Hannity jumped the shark, since Fox is on its twentieth jump by now. Twentieth Shark-jump Fox.
