Keith talks to blogger Shannyn Moore about Sarah Palin's fading star in Alaska where her poll numbers are shrinking fast.
Rush “Boss” Limbaugh thinks Sarah is fabulous. Boss thinks she’s the new face of the party-the party that “won’t attract liberals…thank God.” Well, Rush lives in Florida. Rush hasn’t spent up to $11 a gallon for heating fuel. Rush hasn’t spent three months in sub-zero temperatures. Rush hasn’t lived where the sun doesn’t rise for a month.
Rush should shut it. He reminds of a guy full of fishing stories who probably can’t bait his own hook. Sarah can feel pretty good about her endorsement from the real leader of the GOP. Sarah Palin is sacrificing Alaska for Boss Limbaugh’s affection.
If the governor doesn’t step up and help the state with some financial energy relief by May 12th, her next polls will drop even lower.
Alaskan’s don’t consider heat a luxury.

John McCain kept telling us that when he introduced Sarah Palin to America as his running-mate. Since then, with a failed presidential ticket, mounting legal troubles at home, and a personal life which has become tabloid fodder, her approval rate in Alaska has dropped 30 pts. And according to Shannyn Moore, Palin is just not adept at governance either.

I've said from the beginning Palin was a weak candidate. Southern sexists weren't going to vote for a woman, unless their party is turning sissy all of a sudden. She brought down the old fart McLame, for that I am grateful.

3. She is the grandmother of an illegitimate child
4. She winked during a nationally televised debate
5. She is about as deep as a Ritz Cracker

My beef is with professional sports in general. Specifically hockey is way to fucking violent and supports our pervasive culture of violence. If they didn't brawl and promote brawling
I would support it even more. Checking is one thing, but stopping the game so two assholes can beat the shit out of each other is in no way acceptable.
but the true blue fans wouldn't have it...it's hockey...and fighting is a part of it.
I'm no expert on hockey,...baseball is my sport...but I believe fighting is a no-no in European hockey, compared to the North American version where it is accepted and even encouraged.
I think it's a necessary evil in both sports. Helps keep the A-hole jocks (because that's what they are) in line.
But then again, they pretty much beat the snot out of each other on every play..
I'll give you that there are fights in baseball, emotions do run high sometimes in the heat of the game, but they certainly are not a daily occurance and fines and suspensions are levied by the powers that be for those who choose to brawl.
When was the last time there was a bench brawl in the NHL? Last week? Last month? Try over 20 years ago!
How many dugout clearing brawls have there been in MLB in that time? I dunno, 500? 1000 maybe? It's amazing they had that much time to brawl between putting needles in their asses.
Throwing a 100MPH fastball at someone's head is not only the most cowardly act in professional sports, but at least as violent as chucking a few knuckles of which 90% miss the target.

We are at or near global peak oil production. After that, it will be a long slide into "something else", and if that "something else" is solar, Alaska's screwed. Alaskans need to completely change their housing infrastructure. NOW. Because if they wait for prices to go up to force them, it will be too late, and they will simply have to either leave Alaska or see their quality of life change into something they don't and probably can't presently recognise.
Same goes for Canadians and the American North Central (Montana -> Michigan, Kansas -> North Dakota.) You people are totally screwed.

To attempt to frame this Palin argument as a war on Christianity is disingenuous. Palin's completely politically unqualified. God doesn't have shit to do with it.
The OP stated a list of 'problems' they had with Palin and at the top of the list was "Christian". It seems to me the OP was the one doing the framing.

I have no reason to dispute that the priests and nuns who taught me provided an inaccurate or incomplete version of Christ's teachings.
All I know is that Sarah seems to be practicing a different faith. Ergo, she can't be a Christian.
One is to love God with your whole soul, mind and strength.
The second is to love your neighbor as yourself.
I have no idea of Palin's record on the first. On the second, she has been denigrating of people who aren't "real Americans," whatever code words those are, instead of being respectful of differences. She has turned on people who were former political allies. She used the office of governor in a vendetta against her former brother-in-law in Troopergate, instead of offering forgiveness. And she would rather turn down federal money that would benefit her fellow Alaskans, a completely political move. I would say all of that is not loving her fellow Alaskans, so I don't think she is a Christian.

sarah palin is the evangelical mascot. if you were to poll evangelicals i believe you would find that they
are preoccupied with abortion and same sex marriage. these are areas that palin specializes in if you will. rush is concerned about his ratings, but more importantly he's keeping the interest of evangelicals.
this demographic was very disappointed and used by the BUSH people. the RIGHT is concerned they could lose some of these people to the left. these people are having the same challenges everyone is experiencing currently but these people will go against their own best interest for their perceived
cultural/spirtual beliefs. these evangelicals have been used but are often easier to rally and speak against those that don't live like them. rush will stir them up against healthCare reform.
