I'm going to buy a wheel barrow to carry my cash to the market. Better get one now, before I need a wheel barrow full of cash to buy one.
We're probably not looking at Weimar Republic style inflation, but rather deflation. Too many people with too little money means prices on consumer goods, food...damned near everything...are going to drop.
right? I mean, if people can buy stuff for less? Or am I missing something.
If you live in southern California or in Florida, you are missing about half of your home's value.
thought of that. There goes the retirement.
You can buy more for less, but one of the other problems is that there's a rise in unemployment and a fall in wages.
The prices of consumer goods (cars, tvs and computers, for instance) will fall as retailers try to get rid of their inventory, but probably rise again as factories produce less replacement items. But then you're looking at layoffs from factories, and even less demand for goods.
It's a vicious cycle, and the only thing I can see stopping it is the creation of jobs that will overhaul the infrastructure.
What I'm saying, then, is we're looking at the need for anther New Deal.
I was born when F.D.R. was President, and if he could do it, Obama can do it, too. A new New Deal. We can do it.
And the thing is, the infrastucture needs overhauling. We wouldn't be creating jobs simply for the purpose of creating jobs.
My internet just went down for a few minutes due to high wind and rain. A branch fell on the cable.
Lines should be buried where possible. Also, new technology demands a whole new way of delivering power. My daughter works for Owens Corning making fiberglass windmill material. Most of this work is done in other countries, only 2 factories left doing this in the U.S. Lots of room there for diversification into other products for the 21st century I would think.
Is something we've been looking at in metro Grand Rapids- connecting GR, Holland and Muskegon. Maybe we can actually start work on that in the next few years.
mass transit is imperative, especially around metro areas. Lots of jobs developing that. Maybe some of these military industrial companies could build the train cars instead of weapons.?
Soon Enough ...............
Are there enough prisons to hold all these crooked republicans? Are they going to release all of the imigrants in the detention centers to make room for the republican crooks?
pot smokers imprisoned for non violent crimes. If they let ALL of them out, the room in prisons would be more than adequate for white collar Thug crims.
If we had government sponsored Health Care in the USA all those jobs would not have gone to other countries. The cost of doing business in the USA can be directly tied to the high cost of health-care in the US. If the Auto-makers and Steel Companies didn't have to pay for over-bloated health-care in the Us then the burdened rate for employees would have been down by at least a third.
Are any of these stories being covered elsewhere by the MSM, or is Keith the only one? Obviously this "bailout" is the grand theft we knew it would be before the Democrats turned over the keys to our tax revenue, but do any of the news anchors have the courage to call it criminal?
the Religious Right Wing-Nuts come out of the woodwork and make the claim that the fires in California are god punishing them for their 57 Electoral votes.
Shattered reputation, financail meltdown, heathcare disaster, ect... And yet, we still have assholes defending Bush and laying the blame at Bill Clinton,s feet(???). It will take decades to reverse what Bush and his cronies have done. By then, hopefully, the Republican Party will be the way of the Whigs.
OT - but just read something… have question:

Dems Attach Strings To Auto Bailout
[…]
Pelosi can probably push the auto bailout through the House next week, but in the Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has some serious negotiating on his hands with Senate Republicans. And Reid is working with even less than his 51 seat Democratic majority next week thanks to Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s promotions in the Nov. 4 election.
why did obama resign before the lame duck session ended?
did biden resign also?
can the replacement(s) vote in this lame duck session?
The abuse of our justice system by the rats involved in the malicious prosecution and false imprisonment of Don Siegelman, should not be tolerated! They fucked him, pure and simple. Their is no other word for it. This should scare hell out of every citizen, as well as boiling blood rage! If they would "do it" to Sieglman they will "do it" to you. And you can bet they will not kiss you first.-CEO,citizens,eyes,open
