Keith Olbermann talks to Margaret Carlson about the snub of President-elect Obama by the Bush administration with their request to stay at Blair House when their children started school. According to Carlson, they asked former Australian Prime Minister John Howard to stay there after the fact to justify it being occupied, and they cost the taxpayers a great deal of money by making the Obamas stay at another location due to the additional security needed. The hotel the Obamas are staying at did not already have the security that was in place at Blair House.
This is a small matter in the bigger scope of things, but just one more example of how Bush has managed to stay classy and never disappoint us with reinforcing what his real legacy will be right up until the end of his term. A petty man who never misses an opportunity to take a cheap shot when he has the chance and for good measure waste some taxpayer money in the process.

..Hamas has ever hurt a child or anything, right? OR, the rockets that Iran supplied Hamas weren't going to be used to lob over the border into Israel or anything, right? OR, its the nature of war that innocents get killed which is why it would be nice if people didn't lob rockets across borders while there's a cease-fire or anything, right? C'mon, Bush may be a low class louse especially relative to this Blair House situation and how many others, e.g., invading Iraq, environmental, etc., but don't start with the kids. We all know how bad that is but that's the reality of the situation in the Middle East. You've got people talking about peace talks and cease-fires and states and all. Give Hamas a cease-fire and they'll re-load everytime and randomly lob rockets every time. Horrible that it had to happen but I doubt even you would put up with the bully down the block lobbing spit balls at you for very long before you did something about it.

This all started when Bush staff claimed that the outgoing Clinton staff had trashed the Whitehouse before they had left. It goes to show nothing changes.
It has been shown that, although bush staff did push the story, a GAO accounting of the offices that were "trashed" by Clinton shows that they were not. The keyboards with the missing "w" did not exist. The only "damage" that existed would be a result of normal use of office equipment for 8 yrs. There was no clinton "last bachanal at taxpayers expense" as Andrea Mitchell and the Villagers claimed.

It is totally inappropriate to refer to Mr Howard as Prime Minister. I realise that in America people tend to carry their former government titles forever (so Mr Clinton is still Mr President) but in the parliamentary system it is not apropos. The same thing happened recently on American television when Mr Blair was interviewed and the interviewer addressed him as Prime Minister, which he is not. It is simply Mr Blair.

By the early 90s, though, a Reaganized America had remade him as a "great statesman", never mind that he was responsible for the slaughter of two million people in Indochina, the destruction of many of the popular movements in the US, and Watergate crimes that forced his resignation (back when government lying was still considered bad). That was all pushed down the memory hole. The same thing'll happen with Bush. It'll just take longer.
