Bill O’Reilly was trying to show that he cares about women who have been victims of crime. So to make that point, he sends two men to find my home address and to follow me on vacation? I mean, it was incredibly disturbing. The rest of the weekend, I was constantly looking over my shoulder, wondering how long they had been following me, if they’re still following me.
Amanda also noted that O’Reilly’s producer ambushed her when she was least expecting it and unprepared to answer his questions. “O’Reilly may be surprised I don’t sit around on vacation thinking about him,” she said.

By doing so, he is sticking up for Amanda, and he's sticking up for all rape survivors by illuminating Billo's comments which would be hurtful to all of us!

Bill O has no respect for women. I feel sorry for his mother. He wouldn't like to be violated the same way women have. But then, he might just love it because he's mentally incapable to comprehend human decency and compassion. I don't know how he can look at himself in the mirror every day.
The first thing she should have done is to call 9-11 and say that she had some stalkers following her

Aren't there federal anti-stalking laws on the books that would put Jesse Waters and cameraman safely away for 5-10? I seem to recall something like that. Or is criminally stalking a person somehow now legal if you have a camera with you?

§ 2261A(1) makes it a federal crime, punishable from five years to life in prison, to travel across state, tribal or international lines to stalk another person. The defendant must have the intent to kill, injure, harass, or intimidate the victim, or to place the victim, a family member, or a spouse or intimate partner of the victim, in fear of death or serious bodily injury.
But I knew there was something. I hope she does bring suit.

Keith's being awfully kind to the Boston Herald, which has always been, like Bill O'Reilly himself, a warm, steaming pile of conservatism. I expect that as papers go into their death throes, they'll spiral down rapidly into Fox territory in a last bid for cash from a surge of interest from rubberneckers, but the surge won't work.

And I wondered. Is it possible for some of these people to bring suit agains O'Reilly.
If enough people sued him for stalking, maybe this would either stop, or he's lose his soapbox. Either way it's a win situation.
I feel that there has to be some kind of illegality with this last incident. This is getting pretty sick on O'Reilly's part.
I wonder if a ruling in favor of Ms. Terkel would have an effect on the paparazzi? I mean, aren't they in a way stalking celebrities? Or is it OK because they are considered in the public eye already?

on the paparazzi. These jerks don't ask to take pictures of stars. They harass them endlessly. Actors, singers and other entertainers don't have to be "on" 24/7, they have lives and families. They're human beings that need to treated as such, not like show animals.
The paparazzi needs to be stopped. Legally or otherwise.
That was the point of my question. I see as stalking as well. If a judge were to rule what happened to Ms.Terkel as stalking, wouldn't what the paparazzi do be considered as such? If that were the case, what would the legal ramifications be?

You know, the problem I have with tasers is, what if the guy died? People have died from being tasered. Even if he didn't, could it been seen as a assault? Could the person truly claim to be in fear of her life to such an extant that they only recourse she had was to use a taser? If it could be proved that she could have gotten away unharmed, then the situation could get very sticky for her.

There is nothing that Bill could do to regain the respect of journalism. I think this should gain the attention of the other media at this point to point out how wrong it was to stalk someone across state while they were on their vacation.

It's been at least a decade now, but I want to know how Fox gets away with calling itself News.
I'm serious about this. I work in advertising, and you cannot make false claims. They do not deliver news, they deliver opinion. And there's no way you could call yourself "Fair and Balanced" without backing up those claims with proof.
Actually bamboozled, there is. A few years back reporters for a Fox affiliate in Florida was doing a story on Monsanto I believe. Well, the corperation put pressure on the management of the news studio, who asked the reporters to "put a spin favorable to Monsanto" on the story. They refused, local Fox management fired them, and they sued. Originally, the couple won a 400,000 dollar judgement against the studio. It was overturned on a technicality. The basic thrust was that since there was no written rules preventing lying in the media The First Amendment allow for the media to lie when media mangement sees fit. Fox attorneys did not deny that the couple was fired for refusing to lie, they maintained that Fox could legally do so.
The names of the brave couple who stood up to Fox are Jane Akre and her husband, Steve Wilson.
