The Colbert Report: Bend It Like Beck

From The Colbert Report:

Stephen understands what Glenn Beck is going through when the media doubts his sincerity.

More brilliance from Stephen.

Colbert: It's like looking into a mirror-- after you've done a ton of coke off of it. Clearly... clearly Glenn Beck... clearly Glenn Beck is as sincere in what he says and does as I am in believing that baby carrots are trying to turn me gay. And folks that is great news. Because if he and I don't believe what we say... and don't mean what we feel, then you our viewers aren't just being intellectually impoverished. You're being emotionally defrauded. And that would be a cynical manipulation of Americans' legitimate fears.

In which case, we shouldn't be on T.V. at all. (Starts sobbing.) And I don't know about Glenn Beck... but that idea makes me very sad. I'm sorry... I just love my paycheck so much.

You gotta LOVE the subtlety Stephen uses to basically call Beck a cynical manipulator who shouldn't be on TV.

Of course, Beck would probably have to have someone point out that subtlety to him.

We are living in a golden age of political satire.

Of course, we're also giving the satirists *a lot* of prime material to work with.

Beck wouldn't know satire if it was shoved down his throat by Mark Twain.

The great irony is that Stephen's paycheck actually DOES depend somewhat on Beck staying right where he is. :^/

But fortunately for him (and unfortunately for the rest of us), there are plenty more nutburgers where he/Beck came from.

the other day had some guy asking people to quit picking on glenda , because he is a true murkin , one of only a few standing up for murkins . fucking gag me with a pitch fork , who was it ( Bill Maher ? ) that said that the right wing watches the flintstones and calls it a documentary .

Or at least, that's what they told me.

Best sendup of Beck I have seen or can imagine.

Ain't it ironic that folks like Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are the voices of reason out there, calling out the nutjobs and shitsnakes like Glen Beck and the mighty Lord Limpballs?

No wonder America is viewed as a laughingstock in some parts of the world.

Things like that make me, not only, LOVE Stephen Colbert, they make me want to have ALL of his babies...and teach them Mandarin Chinese.

Brilliant piece.

What I really liked is when colbert says glenn "fears love". Of course, he really "loves fear".

I was hoping that he'd show a clip from Donnie Darko in which Patrick Swayze brilliantly plays a bogus spiritual leader. In his promotional video (within the movie) he turns to the camera and says, "LOVE!" and then he again turns to the camera and says, "FEAR!" His eyes just blaze, and it's hilarious.

"Bend it like Beck."
lololololol!
Best header I've seen in ages!

We missed that episode. My father, 83, and my mother, 77, never miss an episode (and I watch with them, unless the Yanks are in the playoffs), unless Comedy Central does something really stupid like take them off on Fridays at 7pm, when they've been on all week in that time slot. Instead, last night, they put on some lame comedian.
Jesus, WTF are they thinking?

Is there a category for "Best Actor In A Daytime Comedy Show"?

Another masterpiece from the man himself...thanks for exposing Beck! Even if it is a satire...

Colbert a missed opportunity. Pull out the old VapoRub, dab it under the eyes and let the tears flow...

That just made my Saturday morning.

the wing nuts are now setting the agenda in Washington.

Since I saw this and I can't stop laughing. Brilliant!

Beck, "the Silver Gopher". Brilliant.

That was perfect
