Chuck Todd not only decided to take a cheap shot at the Obama's this morning on MSNBC, but also managed to trivialize just who would be harmed if the Republicans continue their hostage taking on the debt ceiling.
TODD: The Obama's are millionaires according to new financial disclosure forms released yesterday. The forms show the President and First Lady Michelle Obama hold assets between $2.8 million and $11.8 million and are you ready for this? Almost all of their investments are in T-bills. So nobody would be hurt more by the debt ceiling not being raised than the President.
Really, Chuck? No one else would be hurt more? If the Republicans put us into another recession or worse yet a depression, I think there are going to be a lot of other people who will come out that a lot worse than the President of the United States. I think somehow the Obama's would manage to recover. I can't say the same for the millions of people who are just getting by now and for whom it might mean life and death if our country's economy gets thrown into a tailspin.

there is a hole in the other part of the label as well.

Damn, the stupidity disease has gotten to Chuck Todd, too, huh? Geez, what a moronic thing to say. I can promise you, I will be hurt far, far more than the Obama family by the Republican hostage taking over the debt ceiling.
It is not enough merely to possess virtue, as if it were art. It should be practiced. (Cicero)
It must hurt to be this stoopid. Who is he trying to impress? It's worse than watching kids try to put on a Shakespeare play...he's way outta his league.

Chuck Todd is a real wanker. And, please, don't anyone act surprised. He's been saying incredibly stupid things for quite some time now.
Oh Chucky, go work somewhere where you are qualified. Like the National Inquirer.
Geez, you ain't kiddin', muddie. Pulling comments out of one's ass is not the basis for political analysis. Particularly with issues as complex as finance.
Chuck Todd being passed off as some kind of giant media intellect is just indicative of everything that is wrong with American media.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
This is a blaring example of how fucked up the media is. Chucky is now what I call a hack.
This is exactly the kinda crap I expect to see in the check out line at the market. Along with Bat Boy discovered in Kentucky.
What is your conceptual, continuity?
Leave Bat Boy alone.

Chuck, do you remember all those angry SeniorCitizens chasing Dan Rostenkowski down the Chicago street? Now what do you think they will do when they can't cash their Social Security checks? I got a feeling they ain't gonna throw rose petals at the feet of Paul Ryan...or you and your fellow stenographers in the Press Corpse...
i remember this guy from c-span where he used to "report", it was always a mystery to me why he got the network job, maybe he is just a suck up.

So, assuming the "mirror universe" rules, does that mean that somewhere there's a "good" Chuck Todd with no goatee?
Hilarious, thank you sir!
Chuck Todd has always given me the creeps. He's a proven typical wingnut Bigot which makes for lousy, FALSE, biased reporting.
exposing another closet teapub, failing to be bipartisan has it's pitfalls, his opinionated boolchit adds nothing to the debate.
I'm going to keep that statement in mind next time someone claims that the media, and MSNBC in particular, is one giant liberal block that's in the tank for Obama.
My thoughts exactly.
I never liked the guy. I saw him a few months ago being quite rude and disrespectful to Obama at a press conference. This kind of stuff is commonplace on sites like Drudge, Breitbart, and The Blaze, But the political director at NBC News? A firing offense, I'd say.
I'm not sure how one goes from acknowledging T-Bill's would crash if the Debt Ceiling were not raised, to deciding that the biggest victim should that happen is one guy in the White House?
Think of how much of our government is backed by T-Bills: The Social Security Trust Fund is in T-Bills, as is our Debt.
I think China and Japan have FAR more to lose if T-bills sink.

It is amazing how some people speak without a filter or a rational review of what they are saying. Chuck is supposed to be a political whiz. He really needs to reevaluate where he is going and decide how to get there. This is not a good path.
Where the hell did he get the idea of drawing lines between the Obama's poor investment choice and raising the debt ceiling as somehow being why Obama wanted the ceiling raised? He doesn't understand anything if that's his conclusion. Chuck doesn't understand we are hopelessly stuck printing now in a liquidity trap.
Don't believe me, look no further than one of the great Keynesian advocates Richard Koo. I'm not a Keynesian as many here know, but for any who don't know who Richard Koo is, he was the guy who did everything but throw the kitchen sink at Japan's lost decade during their crisis in 1990's. He learned first hand the hard way the folly of trying to print Japan out of their hole, which I might add they have yet to crawl out of.
Look what he is saying just today:
The end of QE2 will lead to massive depression according to former Fed economist
http://www.examiner.com/finance-examiner-in-n...
Basically we are in deep sh*t unless we do QE3.We are stuck in a QE liquidity trap, we can't stop printing or we are toast, that will usher in QE4, QE5, and on and on. This is like an idiot who is insists they must not go to sleep to regain their strength, instead their solution is keep slamming down Red Bull's and hoping they'll be just fine later. Silly Keynesians.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
Chuck Todd isn't nearly as smart or astute as he thinks he is. He tries to be oh so cynical but he is at best simply a snark and at worst an ignoramus. I can't believe that NBC can't find a real political journalist. He ain't even that photogenic. and comparing him to Taibbi is an insult to Taibbi, who while MR. Cynical at least has the chops to back up his self aggrandizing BS

What a Maroon!
If Obama looses 90% of his $11.8 million he will be worse off than me if the economy crashes? I'll take that bet!
You might be surprised just how much the wealthy have tied up in various investment vehicles as opposed to liquid assets -- which means that if the economy crashed, they'd lose the majority of their net worth. In fact, investing is one of the reasons why the wealthiest people in this country have experienced such a huge surge in their net worth over the last thirty years. From 1940 to 1980, the DJIA gradually rose from just over 100 to 1000 and then spent about fifteen years in a plateau -- but from 1980 to 2000, the DJIA shot from 1000 to over 10,000. This means that a single low-risk asset initially purchased back in the 1940's would have been worth about ten times the original price in 1980 but more than one hundred times the original amount twenty years after that (barring mismanagement, investor panic, or company failure) -- and of course, the more money you have invested, the greater the yield. In contrast, most people in the middle class who were able to set aside money for investments sank it into buying houses (and we've seen where that got them) or into a 401K (only to find in some cases that the employer either reneged on their promise to match contributions or actively raided it). Granted, if the economy crashed, there would still be income inequality in this country and the wealthy would still be in a far better position overall than most of the rest of us because they have more in liquid assets and are more diversified...but that doesn't alter the fact that if the economy crashed, the massive gap between the wealthiest and everyone else would crash along with it. If the FDIC crashed along with it -- and there are reports that the FDIC is in the red -- then it's quite possible that not even liquid assets would be enough to keep the wealthy from sharing the same fate as the rest of us.
In the end, however, I don't think we really have to worry that the Republicans will refuse to raise the debt ceiling...my guess is that they're playing "Chicken" in an attempt to blackmail the Democrats into giving them whatever they want, in much the same way that they threatened a federal government shutdown as a bargaining chip. For one thing, many of the same people who claim to oppose raising the debt ceiling are many of the same people who are most deeply in the pockets of Wall Street and the corporatocracy...but Wall Street in particular wants the debt ceiling to be raised because they'll probably be in deep trouble if it isn't. A second bailout probably would not be possible in the event of a government default resulting from refusal to raise the debt limit...but even if it were, given the level of discontent and resentment among ordinary Americans, any mention of a second bailout would probably be met with the modern equivalent of torches and pitchforks.
Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
I'm rather disappointed in the President so far so I am no obamabot. However, it appears the President is putting his money where his mouth is and investing in AMERICA!
Chuck didn't think to mention that I bet.
This guy was biased towards the wrong wing even when he was working for Brian Lamb. He was a moron then, he is a moron now. msnbc, more corporate BS especially now with the comcast deal approved.
Maybe the coming dollar crash will soften the blow of a fully craporate media ruling all the junkies that watch that crap.
Is it the 21st century yet?
There'd be a job for Chuckie at Fux if he were blonde.
It is in this case not racist...it is jealousy and not being the center of attention..Small men, small minds , small goatees, and all the other small parts!
Like that some are getting so brazen that they show their true stupidity!
a great investment for the Radical Right agenda being fostered by Comcast.
Skilled at "Fox-a-fying" Comcast.
Chuck must certainly be proud of himself. One day not so long ago, he was on the TV machine making squiggly lines with a cool graphing computer and telling us which graph column was bigger or taller than the other. (Yes Chuck. Very good Chuck. We can see that big graph and squiggly line. Don't you make a good squiggly line, yes you do.)
Of course, he didn't have the -slightest idea- what all that meant but, Boy Howdy! He could sure make squiggly lines!
Go Chuck. Go! Make those squiggly lines again! With a crayon. Preferably, in a Fox Noise center bathroom.
Where your work will be fully appreciated and nobody cares that you think your s&!# don't stink.
Chuck's mouth writes checks his mind can't pay.
Vote GOP and move forward to the 18th Century.
Chuck Todd dislikes the fact that the President is a millionaire. God forbid that a black man amasses a fortune or becomes wealhty.
I simply can not understand why the President has to confront all things big and SMALL. Is there anything that Obama can do and not be belittled for his effort?
Turd.
Personality in the morning incomprehensible , Mika oh such a reasonable liberal, Chuck Mr. Cynical sitting on a bar stool everybody's doin it asinine, Joe S sneakily get my right wing meme out and not seem real crazy, daytime crappy news, not near Shep Smith good, Night time Pretty , Pretty Good stuff even without Keith, Weekends"Lock Up" , scare the crap out of the hooples. Great idea a whole channel dedicated to Prison. Give me a break, If they had one common theme, get a few more real Rachel Maddow types , and they are out there , no pussies or mealy mouths like Mika or Coombs , they would really give Fox a run for it's money. It's there boys, do the capitalist thing make MSNBC the real anti-Fox, out flank the pricks, your bottom line would do better and you'd be doing God's work.

As Yen Lo states with a chuckle, "their brains are not merely washed; they have been dry cleaned." The Manchurian Candidate. I think of this quote often when I see the overfed walking tubs of donut batter that pass for journalists.

Maybe we should start calling the mainstream media "the Manchurian media" from now on?
Never trust anyone who insists that patriotism requires you to blindfold yourself with the flag.
No one would be hurt more than President Obama personally? Seriously? Of course not.
If it were possible to confront Todd about this he would say, "Perhaps it was somewhat hyperbole, but I was just trying to illustrate that the Obamas are very wealthy".
But take this tiny segment apart and he is deliberately doing a whole bunch of specifically anti-Obama things,
- He's attacking the Obamas for being wealthy. Would Chuck Todd EVER attack a Republican for being wealthy?
- He's attacking the Obamas for being invested in Treasury Bills. He's attacking the President of the United States for INVESTING in the United States.
- After all of the Economists, and even the few semi-grown-ups in the GOP, all admit and are warning that not raising the debt ceiling could cause a world-wide economic collapse perhaps causing another Depression and all of the horrors that a true world-wide economic collapse imply.... Chuck Todd, straight reporter, Political Director of MSNBC, not in a Rachel Maddow opinion position... says that "nobody would be hurt more" than the President by not raising the debt ceiling?
That's not hyperbole, that is breathtaking bullshit.
- And last but not least he is overtly implying that Obama's interest in raising the debt ceiling isn't to save our country from a Depression, yet again, but the reason he wants to raise it is to protect his personal investments. Those evil United States Treasury Bonds.
All inside of 22 seconds.
Chucky must have his eye on Prophet-For-Profit Beck's time slot on FOX NEWS.
He can add this to his audition tape for Roger Ailes.
Chuck Todd is a hack. He is always sarcastic when it comes to the President. What a moron. He shows how unprofessional he is by his comment. FOX hack
This is one of the most reprehensible comments I've ever heard coming from a normal (i.e., not Fox) commentator.
NBC must fire this man as news director, largely because his bias toward Wall Street, who thinks that people who invest in this country are stupid fools, and against Obama. Did he ever ask about Bush's fathers ties to the arms industry (via the Carlyle group) as Bush got us into wars that raised his income and that of his family? Did he ever question Dick Cheney's investments?
Todd has simply become a mouthpiece for the treasonous anti-Americanism of the republicans and their buddies on Wall Street. After all, it is Wall Street and its banker, whose shortsighted focus on the bottom line has issued rules and regulations for business and demands for short term quick killing profits that have all but destroyed these businesses and left us nothing for the long haul.
Enemies not only of the state and its government. They are enemies of the people.
MyMy
Chuckie is a Reslug and desperately trys to hid this sick fact, but he slips up all the time proving it with his utter stupidity.
- incorrect use of the apostrophe. You meant to show the plural - not the possessive on "Obama's". You're setting a bad example for the rest of us morons.
I will never understand how Todd got where he is , at best he should be an on scene reporter with your local TV station . I have heard some of the stupidest analysis coming out of this guys mouth ... makes my head spin sometimes , this is another one of those times .
"The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all."
like Obama is his 'boy.' I was flipping through channels one night, and old chunk was in Korea with the Pres, I think it was 2009. Not one of Obama's biggest fans here, but when I saw the way Todd spoke to him, I was outraged. He never speaks to other people in leadership positions that way. No one does, or they'd be shown the door. Can't figure out what this talentless hack is still doing there, except that he is NBC employed, and they don't care who's on their payroll.
me-oww!
Where do the midgets have their money?
see.. now that Upchuck Toady has me sticking up for Geitner's patron.. Is Toady really a reverse tool? or just a simpleton talking smack? for sure he ain't no newsreader.. some kind of agent of some sort, a distraction with a mole where his chin would be if he really were a human.. they're messin with us.
I remember when it used to be patriotic to invest in America. Every week at school we would by stamps for a savings bond book. When the book was full we got our savings bond.
I suspect it is less a bad investment choice by Obama, than a way to avoid conflicts in interest because of investments. Wouldn't it have been nice if Dick Cheney had not had a conflict in interest with Halliburton.
You're an ASH WHOLE!
This Guy is a Walking Talking Ass-Hole in a Suit.
Oh no! The Obamas are invested in...one of the most secure investments the markets have to offer. Given the shape of the T yield curve and the inevitability of a rate hike, T-bills are probably the best place to park some cash. Also, as an aside, is it really such a terrible thing that the president is helping to fund the short term cash needs of the government?
More shit TV talk. Can't say I'm surprised.
far left loon >.<
Ever since Chuck landed a more secure job at NBC, he's lost credibility. He's been selling his soul to the highest bidder, especially when he does his safe, white-bread interviews of people, where he's afraid to rile any corporate feathers. I don't watch him anymore.
Chuck Todd!
Gargle some bleach you poopyhead
I quit watching this sh*t when I got tired of the rightwing, faux lite, attitude during the day. MSNBC has this clown along with Pat Buchanan with that worthless POS Joe Scarface to start the day and from there they invite rightwing sh*tbags to scream over anyone who they disagree with and never try to press for reality. The only shows worth watching were Keith (the reason I have not watched MSNBC at all), Rachel, and Lawrence O'Donnell. Ed is okay about most things but can go off the chart and Chris Matthews is like Newt as far as going with whichever way the wind blows. Anyone who invites Tom DeLay on regularly, and Chris has, is not worth watching.
Except Rachel, Odonnel,l when I can Bashir..lately Rev Al... O and Contessa Brewer ! The rest are worthless!
following the Comcast merger. Before it's over, it will likely be the only kind of
right wing propagandanews and analyses coming out of MSNBC.I emailed Chuck Todd about this - something I would not normally do - and he said he was trying to be humorous. If you listen, he does provide a vocal smirk as he said the president has the most to loose. Maybe not the best thing to kid about but I respect him for at least responding to my email.
chuck is just teabagging the gop too much now.
no wonder boehner is crying so much lately,
chuck needs to file those teeth down some more.
I Twittered this hack; it was faster. You're right, he whined about his "humor" not going over so well.
