From Morning Joe, Nov. 24, 2008.

You guys [Team Obama] own the economy at 12 o'clock eastern time today, correct? When Senator Obama announces his Treasury Secretary, announces the Larry Summers position. It is now Barack Obama's responsibility on the economy, is that not correct?

h/t Bob Cesca, who has more here.

OK, then, we might as well take over the entire administation, starting with the White House; we can prevent Bush's "midnight regulations" crap that screws the environment.

I'll gladly "own the administration" as well as the economy.

I wish we could dump his dumb ass now. Or atleast take away all his pens.

Break his fingers and more of his anatomy.

"And now, Chucky T has some insight"

Obviously, Chucky (who's not much bigger than his horror puppet buddy), is looking to churn some butter with this spin.

Put a sombrero on this fuck and he'll take us back to the early 70's. Chucky = Frito Bandito.

Am I missing something? Was there an inauguration?

Always looking for someone else to blame.

I think that Bush's drink of choice is Jim Beam, close enough for govt work.

wild magnolia's picture

jim beam is bourbon, jack daniels is some sort of tennessee whiskey

Makers Mark is bourbon...

(My fave is Evan Williams Black Label, 86 proof)

Jack Daniels is industrial waste.

Don't forget the pretzels.

Its not correct.

In my opinion, as of late chuck has become a little too full of himself.

There is not one damned thing Obama can do at this moment to repair the economy

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Assemble a good team and project competence and confidence. That MIGHT help a little. but thats all he can do.

Think of it as an extra big exclamation point.

What the fu(k did he just say?? That was the stupidest question I’ve ever heard in my life coming from an alleged professional newscaster. What does Henry Paulson have to say about this?? Someone needs to revisit Chuck of the Toddler Mentality’s contract.

I agree. Chuck seems to have taken on the belief that he is an expert on just about everything. Some of Joe Scarborough's ego must have rubbed off on him.

Of such transparent partisanship.
Obama has conducted himself with real class and yet these douchebags can't wait to be able to pronounce him and everything he touches a failure.

Lie, Lie, Lie, Lie, Lie...Deflect.

Got it. I wasn't clear previously on what "personal responsibility" meant.

Dahgrostabph-r-i's picture

NO! Bush and the Repugs OWN this economy...even after January 20th and it becomes a disaster for Team Obama to clean up, it is still the Repugs who got us here.

Just because you bring out a mop doesn't mean the mop made the mess!

I love hearing these idiots trying to say it's not their fault that everything imploded. - for 6 years they had total power and even threated to eleminate the filibuster if the Dems tried to use it to stop the Repugs crimes against America.

Folks in Bangkok took over an airport and folks in Iceland took over parliament demanding accountability.

Wonder what will happen here?

Dahgrostabph-r-i's picture

I'm sorry to say I believe that the apathy of the general public will take over and we will not take over anything. Far too many people believe that simply electing Obama was enough to fix the major problems we face (by we I mean the middle class).

this isn't going to get better unless people take responsiblity, and maybe once Obama is actually the President he will put forth a program to enlist people into public services and other areas that will not only give people jobs but also help other people who need help. I'm hoping with real leadership people will stand up and take action (myself included) so far I talk a good game, I do volunteer from time to time but I don't do nearly enough, most of us don't. But I'm hoping that will change, if we can do that, then we don't need to take over an Airport or the House of Representatives to enact change.

Male Republican leaders will bang some kok in the airport.

Shadowgm's picture

... the media is quick to foist things off on the Obama administration so we can forget the past eight years of partisan media cheerleading for the Frat Boy in Chief.

W's career ends like all his other gigs - abject failure and a bailout by someone else. We're not holding the corporate barons at the banks responsible, and we won't be seeing any accountability from Bush, either.

Liberal AND Proud's picture

Hey Chuck, news flash: When the janitor is tasked to clean up the steaming pile of shit left behind by the elephant, you don't blame the janitor for the mess do you?

The ELEPHANT did it!

Shadowgm's picture

... a story out of the Vietnam War, where several special forces types told their commander that the Viet Cong were using elephants to ferry gear through the jungle.

The commander said, "There aren't any elephants. Get out there and find the trucks they have to be using!"

Said soldiers left a bag of elephant dung on the commander's desk, and, well, gee ... I guess they must be using elephants.

Does this mean that Bush will take 100% responsibility for 9/11. How can you blaim everything bad that happened over the last 8 years on Clinton and anything bad that happens from now on on Obama? These people make me sick.

clumberfeet's picture

All the executives are tripping over each other as they run out of the board room and as the pass some guy pushing a mop they yell, "You're in charge!"

so just before Obama owns the economy, Bush and team give the banks another $800 billion.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7748362.stm

awesome.

thats $1.5 trillion given away in the last 6 weeks.

lol, lets keep blaming them high-falutin' union types...

In the emerging media narrative, Obama gets all of the responsibility for (but no actual power to affect) the post-election/pre-inauguration economy. The Democrats need to be damn careful because there is a massive attempt to turn this into "Obama's recession." Bush has to be laughing his ass off right now.

If Obama now officially owns the car wreck known as US economy now ?
Tell King Petulant Monkey Ass to get the hell out of the way NOW then.
Time for the adults to take over.

Did the Constitution get changed and I wasn't aware of it? Maybe Mr. Todd needs to take remedial civics courses and brush up on how our system of government works.

Until President-Elect Obama is sworn in, he has no constitutional authority or duties, period.
