Chris Matthews Asks Politico's Martin Why They Act as Dick Cheney's News Conduit
Maybe a better question for Chris Matthews would be why MSNBC treats the gossip rag The Politico who servers as Cheney's 'news conduit' as a credible news source that they bring on their network constantly. The Politico's Jonathan Martin did look like he was caught off guard with this one.

Does Cheney “have a thing with Politico?” MSNBC’s Chris Matthews asked Politico’s Jonathan Martin today on Hardball. “He uses you like he’d use Drudge or somebody,” Matthews charged. A stunned Martin had no response for why Cheney has been so willing to give Politico “exclusives.” “You’d have to ask the Vice President, Chris,” Martin responded, “I’m not sure.” Matthews kept pressing the issue:
MATTHEWS: I mean, he’s got his own news conduit.
MARTIN: You know, we aggressively report on both sides.
MATTHEWS: It’s not reporting. He feeds you this stuff. … I do like Politico. He’s feeding you guys this crap. [...]
What’s he call up and say? “I got a hot one for you, Jon. Can you take — what’s your email address?” Is that what he does?
As Raw Story noted, Mike Allen has already been roundly criticized in the blogs for his fact-checking free interview with Dick Cheney. If The Politico wants to continue to work with and act like Matt Drudge with being willing to recycle Republican smears without question, none of them should be surprised when they finally get called out for it on the air.

Where none exists in fact. Even Olbermann pumps the fear of terrorism meme. He devoted over half his show to it last night. Yes he covers it from a leftward standpoint but his goal was essentially the same: Obama wants to KEEP US SAFE but people like Cheney and the Repugs don't want to KEEP US SAFE. He may be working the other side of the fence than most do but the overarching theme is KEEPING US SAFE. It's the same song, set to different music.
This is why real journalists like Glenn Greenwald are so important.

So Pete, if Matthews was stumping for Bush and Cheeeeney while Bush and Cheeeeney were tearing down the country and fucking over 90% of the people here and now Matthews rolls out a good question every now and again everything should be as if he was Amato's right hand man?
I don't remember him stumping for Bush and Cheney. In fact during the last campaign I thought he had a severe man crush on Obama. And I never said he had to be Amato's right hand man , what I said is just because he doesn't tow your line all the time you folks dengrate him. Sure he's obnoxious sometimes, but I think on the whole, lately at least, he seems to take everyone to task.
I understand this blog is slanted to what some would call the left, and I agree with most of what is said here, but if I have the temerity to disagree does that put me in the same boat as "Tweety", if it does then that makes you folks who think so just as bad as Glen Beck and Rushhie-bey.

why would biden know why cheney talks to politico so much? i love the way certain rethugs still refer to cheney as the vice president. speaking of such, what's biden up to?
At least in Republicans' "minds" and the villagers take marching orders from them. Obama isn't the legitimate president and therefore, though less brown, Biden can't be the legitimate vice president. So the chimp is still called President Bush and Darth is still called Vice President Cheney. Using the "former" modifier would legitimize Obama in the eyes of the village and the nation and we can't have that.

... the proper usage is to use the title. You would only add 'former' if you need to clarify which president/vice-president is which, such as a story where BOTH Cheney and Biden are quoted, or an event at which past and present holders of the office are in attendance, such as Reagan's funeral: 'President George W. Bush, and former Presidents Clinton, Carter, and George H.W. Bush.'

Last night on the Ed show, Ed pointed out that some of the things cheney is saying now is right out of the Beck/Tea Baggers, notebook.
I think cheney wants to run for President or vice President with Palin at the top of the ticket. She is just as stupid as bush and he could manipulate her just as he did bush. Jeez, it gives me chills just thinking about a President Palin and Vice President Cheney.

I think he is running interference because he knows he is very close to being indicted for war crimes and he thinks a good offense is a good defense. Cris is probably just jealous of Politico because after all, Chris has been the only one over the years who knew how cheney wanted his name pronounced and has made it his mission to correct everyone else's pronunciation of the name. Chris probably feels cheney owes him some crumbs for all his hard work.

We all know that Dick Cheney, a former two-term Vice President of The United States of America, is a treasonous criminal of monumental proportions. But to actually HEAR it said, "a Chief of Staff with a five felony count conviction was running his office", is really something. It's like having a dirty little that everyone knows, but doesn't talk about. Why is Dick Cheney being allowed to remain free from incarceration and collect a nice cushy pension on Our dime? Is it any wonder that our Government is no longer trusted by the world or even it's own citizens?
