Byron York repeats the nonsense that someone actually pays him to write in his column at The Washington Examiner that the Democrats in the House voting for the health care bill a second time is somehow akin to Tiger Woods cheating on his wife.

Dems turn risky health vote into manhood contest:

I called a Democratic strategist with a question: Say I'm a moderate Democrat. I voted for the House bill last November, but I've seen the polls, I know a majority in my district opposes the bill, and I feel certain that voting for final passage will end my time in office. Why should I vote yes?

"Look, you voted for it before," said the strategist, who asked to remain anonymous. "You should have thought about that then. You're stuck with the vote, it's around your neck, you're going to wear it like an albatross. The ad that's going to run against you is going to be the same whether you vote for it now or not.

[...]

What about this argument, I asked: Yes, I voted for it once, but why compound the damage by doing it again? Say you've cheated on your spouse. You can tell them you only did it once, that it was a mistake, and that you won't do it again. Or you can assume the damage has been done and carry on like Tiger Woods. Which is more likely to save the relationship?

I'm sure York just has their best interest at heart and would never turn around and call them flip floppers if they listened to him...right? The last thing any Democrat should do is listen to this hack. That strategist he talked to was right. If they vote against it at this point, the Republicans will use it against them if their only concern is getting reelected. If they really cared about making good policy, they'd have been pushing for single payer at the beginning. Listening to York and his ilk and flip flopping now just makes them look like they're weak and can't govern.

In early February, Washington Examiner editor Stephen G. Smith gushed over his new chief political correspondent, Byron York, calling him "a prototype of the modern journalist, equally at home in print, on television and on the Web."

One word not uttered by Smith, however, was "conservative" -- as in the political orientation of York's former employer, the National Review. Indeed, York has regularly peddled conservative misinformation from his National Review perch.

York is one of the latest manifestations of the rightward skew of the Examiner, a free tabloid daily created four years ago when conservative billionaire Philip Anschutz took over a chain of suburban papers and refashioned them after the publication he owns in San Francisco -- an interesting move since Anschutz himself hasn't talked to the media in decades.

The Examiner has had a conservative skew from its inception, as exemplified by its early hiring of Bill Sammon, a former Washington Times staffer who penned several books laudatory of George W. Bush and his presidency even while serving as a White House correspondent. Sammon moved last year to Fox News, but he left no ideological vacuum behind.

bullshit like this coming from an asshole who writes for fish wrapper/bird cage or kitty box liner isn't at all a surprise...

)O(

Doesn't this idiot realize that since the boosh/Kerry campaign, people will accept a fool and a bad vote but not a flip-flopper?

)O(

Is it also coincidental that his use of Tiger Wood was positing one black man against another (Obama)?

Why couldn't he had used the Vatican scandal; it's more recent?

A Tiger Wood as he was further away from the green. If he was closer, he would have used a Jeremy Iron.

you'll be happy.

See

I was nice enough to use a harmless Golf pun and not comment on the obvious "...one black man against another..." scenario. But trust you to take it right into the gutter. Or is that the wrong sport? ;)

if that's you racial implication. Otherwise I'll stick with Clubs you use with a glove, Alec.

complex--- He spent days jumping up and down at the Denver convention and came away with no story!

But then again --he has been knocking around and NEEDS A JOB...Anschutz will fund him for about 4 months and he will be back on the street!

)O(

Izzit just me or does Anschutz sound like the name of a Nazi Death-Camp?

In early March, Crooks and Liars.com commenter Captain Kangaroo gushed over the Crooks and liars.com's owner, contributor, man about town and chief political advisor, John Amato, calling him "a prototype of the modern journalist, equally at home in print, on television and on the Web."

There, Amato and his band of contributors and commenters are better than whatever York could ever possibly so.

I am the very model of a modern Major-journalist
I've information limited, inaccurate, ephemeral
I know pundits of the village well, my readerhip is minimal
From lobbyists to neocons, they're not the ones to ridicule.

You know damn well that if the Republics are saying something then the opposite is true. I will submit that the Democrats passing this bill will be a lot better off in November than if they don't pass it. The Republics know this and that is why they are saying the opposite. The Republics will be the ones up a creek in November because of their obstructing and stalling and thereby killing Americans.

is a little bit

(unfaithful) not his marriage vows though...(it's about
the oaths+promises)

I think he's cheated a few times...!

I think the comparison is definitely ridiculous though...(I can't picture Obama driving his escalade into a tree)

...with an ounce of decency and a gram of intelligence that the typical Modern Republican is simply a horrible human being.

Once you accept that, understanding what Republicans do and say ceases to be incomprehensible and is easy to grasp.

They're just bad people -- to the core.

All of the republican leadership are bad to the core. I think most of the republican voters are just too stupid to make sound rational decisions!
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness and it is killing America!

twice before in my life. He's evidently a journalistic nobody who has nothing substantive to offer.

he got the Examiner job.

Say you've cheated on your spouse. You can tell them you only did it once, that it was a mistake, and that you won't do it again. Or you can assume the damage has been done and carry on like Tiger Woods. Which is more likely to save the relationship?

With voters or corporate sponsors?

that he sites for a politician knowing how to relate to his voting public!?! DO THESE PEOPLE NOT EVEN LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY?
Of COURSE this had to come from FOX Noise.

American public because he needed someone who could "better relate" to the Republican base...

the Repuglican base?

frum thet fer left media.

About Democrats' who vote for the HCR bill re-election chances ludicrous. The simple fact is, if Republicans and their patsies like Byron York REALLY believed that, they would be on every network, DEMANDING an immediate vote.

leave the personalities aside:

health care costs are bankrupting people, even with insurance.
u.s. is running -750 billion current account balance
1.2 trillion yearly deficit
3 repub prez signed off on 7 of 10 national debt - doesn't matter

issue will be operating capital for this country, as chinese pull back from treasuries, empty profits from non-productive activities must be curtailed, meaning capital must be used for wealth producing activities.

value-added goods must be the order of the day, or u.s. will never climb out of debt, this is why current dem plan is economic suicide and non-profit single payer must be brought back.

we are in too dire financial straits for anything else

.

)O(

It's also hurting job growth.

The average business that's not a huge corporation can no more afford escalating medical premiums for their employees any more than their employees can.

Meanwhile the very same medical insurance companies turn around and screw doctors with the ever escalating cost of medical malpractice, even though pay-outs for such suits have flattened in the past 15 years.

out of desperation to have some sort of empowerment on this situation, i am thinking since all productive activities have been offshored, once we are bankrupt, real work will have to be done here again, and empty "profits" such as insurance, derivatives, etc. will no longer be tolerated.

trying to think past the current crap, have some hope, even if it is my own fantasy, but seems logical to me.

Of the same media whores peddeling their honor and integrity for the dollar bills paid by their corporate masters? If these people ever develop the capacity to feel shame I think most of them would commit suicide from the shame of all the lies they have spread?
But we won't have to worry about that. No republican/conservative that I know has ever made it into adulthood. The remain to be people lacking the morals or the intelligence to make sound rational decisions. They operate under the misguided assumption that they are all that matters. I have got mine fuck you.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness, that has ruined our economy and killed and wounded millions of innocent people for oil!

can inflict a group as well as individuals.
severe npd is sociopathic, verging on psycho.
i believe we live in narcissistic nation.
how, you may ask , do i know so much about this sort thing?
i will leave that for you to decide, i have to go find my pills.....

What an absolutely idiotic thing to say - is this guy normally so irretrievably stupid?
*

They love to use their skewed facts and make it sound like they are "doing the peoples' work". ABSOLUTE BULL SHIT!!

This washed up old fart needs to go to church and confess his stupidity, among other things.

Tiger Woods and the health care debate...Only a republican can make that statement and sit there with a straight face. In the meantime....

People are losing there health care and are still working. Their companies are dropping the health care plans because they can't afford to have them.

WE NEED NATIONAL HEALTH CARE!!!! More and more and more people are without any health care.

Am I right to assume that this guy actually gets paid for this ? I need a job , where do I sign up ?

If you have the capacity to feel shame you cannot be part of the republican party.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness and it is killing America!
