House Speaker John Boehner told CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer that he and his Republican cohorts in the Congress ought to be judged by how many laws they repeal.

House Speaker John Boehner sat down with Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer this Sunday, and if you had to sum up the interview, it was basically almost fifteen minutes of Schieffer asking Boehner to explain why he sucks at his job and why he can't control his own caucus. After complaining about former Speaker Nancy Pelosi getting too many "unpopular" bills passed just a little earlier in the segment, Boehner threw this nonsense out there when asked about the fact that he and his fellow House Republicans have got the government gridlocked.

John Boehner: Congress ‘Ought To Be Judged On How Many Laws We Repeal’:

When asked about the lack of legislative activity in the current Congress, Boehner told host Bob Schieffer that the lawmaking body “ought to be judged” on how many laws it repeals:

BOEHNER: Well, Bob, we should not be judged on how many new laws we create. We ought to be judged on how many laws we repeal. We’ve got more laws than the administration could ever enforce. And so we don’t do commemorative bills on the floor. We don’t do all that nonsense. We deal with what the American people want us to deal with. Unpopular? Yes. Why? We’re in a divided government. We’re fighting for what we believe in. Sometimes, you know, the American people don’t like this mess.

The current 113th Congress is on pace to become the least productive Congress in history, having passed just 15 bills that President Obama signed into law as of July.

The House of Representatives has voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act more than three dozen times and Boehner pledged many more repeal votes, even though Congress has failed to pass a substantive jobs bill, or make fixes to the budget sequester.

John Boehner is going to be remembered as one of the worst House Speakers in our history, if not the worst, no matter how hard he tries to spin it.
