Apparently Bill O'Reilly isn't too happy about Howard Raines column at the Washington Post -- Howell Raines calls out honest journalists for not exposing Roger Ailes and FOX News where as John noted Raines called out the media for turning a blind eye to the TV cable channel known as FOX News..

Newshounds made the catch -- In Response to Raines Article, O'Reilly Invokes Names of Fox Newsies Who Support Obamacare -- Ignores The Masses on Fox Who Don't:

Boy, Bill O'Reilly was riled up on Friday night (3/12/10) over an article written in the Washington Post (you can read it here) by former NY Times Editor Howell Raines which accuses Fox News of sabotaging Obamacare and "waging a Jihad against the entire Obama Administration . . . a campaign without precedent in our modern political history . . . Through clever use of its cadre of raucous commentators FNC has overturned standards of fairness and objectivity that have guided American print and broadcast journalists since World War II." O'Reilly took some swipes at Raines for his lack of journalistic creds, but if you notice, he really didn't address the message in Raines' article: That Fox has, in fact, waged a Jihad against the Obama Administration and has attempted to sabotage healthcare reform, whether by its promotion of the tea parties or its cadre of strident guests who oppose it. [...]

Going on to say that liberal commentators at the New York Times outnumber conservatives 10-1, O'Reilly failed to point out that conservative commentators at Fox outnumber liberal commentators, oh, by about 50-1. At least.

Read on...

As they noted at Newshounds, Bill-O managed to name about eight whole commentators at ClusterFox who are on the left... but there are more... honest. He won't name them, but there are more. Yeah Bill, that's some fair and balanced network you've got going there.

I can't bear to watch Bill o the clown and hear his holier than thou voice. It's a classic bill o tactic, if he's accused of something, figure out a way to accuse the other side of the same thing, regardless of how frail the argument is. After all, when you're REALLY blustery about it, more weight is given to your argument. The louder you talk, the more truthiness you are espousing.

I am physically incapable of listening to those Fox/Pig gasbags. My body can't tolerate it.

I think what many people want to hear from our News shows is factual Objectivity. Yes: just like Scientific Objectivity.

Fox & many other Media Outlets are insisting that "Fair" and "Balanced" are the same as, equal to "Objective". But that is another stinking lie. Even if they were fair, or even attempted true balance, it isn't the same as telling the truth, of giving "just the facts".

OMG

I can't believe I agree with billo about anything but the part about the Iraq war and the NY Times is why I cancelled my subscription. That being said the uber lie of fox is very accurate. To bad he didn't use that insite back then.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!

Don't take journalism criticism from the former host of "Inside Edition."

This NYT editorial was brought up on Morning Joe and someone on the show brought up the NYT and the WMD in Iraq. At that point they pretty much dropped the topic all together, as if it were a tit for tat and was settled.

The Times is talking about a plan that fox seems to enforce and that is to do everything in their power to discredit this president no matter what it does to the country. The publication about the WMD in the Times was certainly poor judgement, but it wasn't an inside plan to take the country into an unnecessary war....at least I don't believe that it was.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Yeah, Billo is the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of 'Standards of Fairness'

:)

"I know that there are people who do not love their fellow
man, and I hate people like that!
" ~ Tom Lehrer (1928 - )

That was one of my first thoughts too. It's difficult to use "Standards of Fairness" in the same sentence with the words "Bill O'Rielly".

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Old Billy's picture

Is Juan Williams one of them?

eight? name one.

I hear they lost Alan Colmes. . .

is liberal? OK, I guess close enough.

glogrrl's picture

he backs down easily when confronted with Rethuglican bullsh*t, and that's why he lasted so long on Faux. As to Juan Williams......token. Geraldo Rivera? Nah....they're just calling him a liberal because he's Hispanic. Joe Trippi? OK, he's worked on a lot of Dem campaigns, including Edward Kennedy, Howard Dean & (ow) John Edwards. But I wouldn't call him a die-hard liberal....more like DNCC lite.

The rest of them? Unknowns.

Found them:
"Allen Colmes, Juan Williams, Ellis Henican, Geraldo Rivera, Kirsten Powers, Joe Trippi, Bob Beckel and Susan Estrich"

Allen Colmes isn't with them anymore, is he? Williams is, of course, a suck-up enabler. Isn't Bob Beckel the guy who last week asked Hannity and friends if they don't "get tired of this shit?" So, I guess he sees things from a reality based perspective - I wonder how many seconds he has been on.

Every one. Each day. Always. I particulary like the Ellis island show and when Geraldo Rivera opened Cheney's man sized safe
it advanced journalism at least 4.75 years.

If only it was just Fox News. Unfortunately, the rest of the MSM seems to have been waging "jihad" against Obama too. Just look at the way Tweety Matthews has covered health care. No matter what Obama does, Matthews is always calling for him to stop acting like a progressive ideologue and move to the "center".

Better yet, just have him go home and stay there. Give Rachael his spot.

I love how BO often makes a point and then uses a fact that undercuts his own argument. As in this case he says the NY Times is not not fair & balanced and then sites the fact that they helped convince America to go to war in Iraq by supporting the right wing Bush Administration talking points with front page articles.

Ha ha ha!

glogrrl's picture

Barack Obama & Bill O'Reilly.......have the same initials? Yikes!!!

Mickey: "It was an epiphany. Do you know what an epipany is?"
Keoni: "NOT NOW MICKEY!"

Karl Rove said something on Meet the Press yesterday that I actually agree with. Tom asked him about the balance on fox news and Rove said the reporters, like the whitehouse reporters, do not have their own opinion shows on fox news. He brought up the fact that the whitehouse reporters on MSNBC do have their own shows. That's something that I think is just so wrong. I know I have made this point before, but it kinda scared me that I had a thought in common with Rove.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Not Helen Thomas.

Savannah Gutherie and Chuck Todd. Toss in Andrea Mitchell for good measure. All three are reporters for NBC and have shows on MSNBC. I have no idea who Helen Thomas works for.

I've never seen 0'LIElie do his thing but he would appear to be nothing more than a bitch. Is that true, or does he do anything other than bitch and moan about other people?

How anyone can equate that with entertainment is beyond me.

I'd love to get him in a room with a few of his devoted viewers, and let them tell us all what they really think.
.

I bet it wouldn't be pretty.

"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob"
-= Franklin Delano Roosevelt =-

It doesn't matter how many people the station has on each side. If they are reporting the news they shouldn't have an opinion and just report the facts, not the facts that they want you to hear but the facts, without opinion.

Short of supporting a coup de tat.

I'm just curious how the speech on Fox "News" is not sedition? They are blatantly promoting the overthrow of the democratically elected government. And it's working gangbusters, as we've seen time after time in the past year with people attacking the Pentagon, the IRS, the police, etc.

Anais's picture

Note Fox's support of birthers, teabaggers, gun-packers and other somewhat off-kilter folks. Just combine some of these in a perfect storm and a coup could take place. The Secret Service had better bring its best game, every day. But I love BillO calling Raines a hypocritical liar. Hypocritical? Maybe a bit. But liar? It's hard to lie when your reporters like to YOU. Raines is not a liar. BillO is both.

Tax the Rich's picture

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha........................., who evr thought Billo could do comedy?

If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.

So how many of these leftys at Fox have their own shows? Zero. Co-host shows? Zip. The only libs at Fox are the Pat Cadell and Tammy Bruce brand that arent' dems at all. The only thing liberal about them is the lyin' cyron under their names. Once in a while they'll have on some actual liberal that they can talk over and outnumber 4 to 1 in one Foxs' famous Fair and Balanced "debates". Howell Raines is right on and O'Reilly can fake his anger all he wants, he knows Fox is totally slanted just like everyone else does. That's the way he likes it.
