From the Nov. 10 airing of The O'Reilly Factor. Bill-O just can't understand why there are no protests at the black churches. Never mind who paid the money to roll out the ads supporting Prop 8 and who is preaching hatred of gays from the pulpit, Bill thinks it's out of pure political correctness that there aren't protests at black churches going on. I think Bill would just like to see protests at black churches.

My guess is gaydom gives them the willies, but economic and discrimination issues are more important.

why anybody gives a damn what Billo the Clown wants

Why aren't those rowdies making noise like Bill O & Ilk expect? This has been presented without the civil rights aspect, by proponents. The media has kept from away. When reporters don't do their job, the country is the worse for it.

As in the Holy Land Foundation trial. See http://cabdrollery.blogspot.com/2008/11/us-te...

THere's a great clip of an olberman commentary on this issue at buzzflash.com.

The hate coming from the right is very disappointing. I don't know why I am surprised. The hypocrisy doesn't surprise me at all.

Come to think of it, it wasn't traditional churches like the AME or Bible groups, or even Mega-churches funding this proposition, but Roman Catholics and Mormons. Roman Catholics are multi-hued, but may tend to segregate themselves to churches nearest where they live, and Mormons overall tend to be white (although they've been reaching out to Hispanics and American Indians for at least a good 30 years.)

"The black voters" oohhh! Billy just wants to go after black folk every opportunity he gets....like any other racist.

... and we know what a stellar judge of black America Bill "Where's my iced tea, M-F!" O'Reilly is.

Actually that's, "Where's my m****r f*****g iced tea!!!"

I thought it was "hey M'Fer, where's my M'Fing iced tea?"

and also can anyone tell me where the "black" church* who told their people to vote for prop 8?

*Black Church? people do realize anyone - of any color can sit in on Sunday services in a "Black Church", right?

Bill-O is a vulgar boor. end of story.

Why is he on C&L?

You're asking because you don't think billo is a crook and liar?

People blamed and wanna blame blacks for everything

Blacks got blamed for Aids

blamed for mortgage crises

blamed for kidnapping endless white women's kids putting some of them in cars in bottom of lakes

blame for mugging little white girls who campaign for McCain

Blacks get blame for a white man not being able to get a Job

Now Bill wants to blame blacks for ending gay marriage

give me a freaking break

http://www.barackobamacans.blogspot.com

Voting in one's own state against our interests is addressed with education.
Financial meddling from another state, from the Mormon and Catholic organizations is a totally different ballgame.
Spinner of hate Billo will be the worse person in the WORLD, again for this one.

why there were no protests at FoxNews? They are certainly as homophobic as any groups of Black voters. Many Blacks are focused on their own plight and don't have the energy to extend their concern to other groups.

Yet before her death, Coretta Scott King came out in support of gay marriage in 2004.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-03-2...

And Jesse Jackson's two runs for the presidency championed gay rights among other minority rights:

....Jackson ran on what many considered to be a very liberal platform. Declaring that he wanted to create a "Rainbow Coalition" of various minority groups, including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Arab-Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, family farmers, the poor and working class, and homosexuals, as well as European American progressives who fit into none of those categories....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Jackson

So Bill-O is still at it -- trying to create open divisiions among people whose leaders are calling them to erase their prejudices. He is not good for America and needs to focus on his own racism and contempt for women.

who funded that disaster. Maybe some of those pristine white temples need a splash of PINK...

)O(

Too late, half the women there at least work for Mary Kay...

Talk about a cult.

.

The man is irrelevant. Giving him one iota of attention just feeds his ego. Ignore him.

... doesn't do anything if it's just to provoke outrage.

If it's to bring to light his specious reasoning and expose him as a charlatan, then it's for a good cause.

His contract at FOX has been renewed for four more years, though I don't know how much money he will be receiving over that term. It's six or seven figures though, you can be sure.

He still needs to be watched, so to speak.

Maybe he'll eventually do something to get out of his contract if things aren't going well for him, like getting caught masturbating in a public place, ala Pee-Wee Herman.

Speaking of black people [Deleted. Just because 'black people' are mentioned in a post, it isn't any reason to bring up Ron Paul-Sitemonitor]

...with your really shitty attempt at humor...and your boy Paul is nothing more than the GOP's Nader....irrelevant.

Yeah...

That's my job.

lol

Damn, you're the kinda guy I'd really love to drink a beer with, ys :D

And you never disappoint.

Bill O is just stirring the pot, as usual. Snore. (And I didn't watch the video, cuz I know what he's like. Throw shit; see what sticks.)

It's cute how you think anyone will be paying any attention to him at all in 2-3 weeks.

Boycott Utah. No ski vacations to Utah this year. I saw a commercial on TV yesterday promoting Utah for skiing. Guess where I am not going.

Blacks have a strong connection to the church and tend not to be liberal on this issue. Gays will have to just press on.

On some issues that were won in civil rights, it was decades before they were actually realized. It was always a struggle. Change doesn't come easily. I would do what I wanted to do regardless of what is on the books. And I would continue to work toward the goal and waste no time with blame.

Because black people get all the breaks in America, Bill. Duh.

O'Reilly is a fool.

As a white guy who has spent a lot of time in the "black churches", I can say that I have heard intolerance of gays preached from the pulpit firsthand. However, a media ad campaign by an out of state church that claims to be apolitical is something to protest.

..well that's a first..!

I would prefer to tax them.

I'm happy that African Americans overwhelmingly vote Democratic, but there are a lot of things that are fucked up in the black community. For instance, there is a lot of homophobia in that culture, and they tend to be more anti-Semitic than any other ethnic group in America. For Bill O'Reilly to point this out and feign outrage is a joke, but it's definitely a problem, and it downplays the significance of the problem to blame it solely on the influence of church leaders and pro-Prop 8 advertising. Of course, this isn't true for all African Americans, but it is a cultural issue.

The heavy involvement of the Moron Church with Prop Hate here in California has really pissed me off.

While Jogging today I had a frreeaaking brain storm. Let's do to them what they done to us!

I need to start a campaign to urge other pissed off leftys to move to Utah, and get a gay marriage bill passed. Anybody that doesn't have to punch a clock to earn a living could do it, and there aren't that many people in Utah. I think some of Obama's rallies have had as many people. The whole state ain't got no more than about 2.6 million people. Think of this also, with a threat on their homefront, all of their resources would be diverted to that so that Californians could repeal Prop Hate with another prop. Besides overturning Prop Hate, and possibly making gay marriage legal in Utah, we would also get the good will of the world by getting all of those Moron missionaries to return to the mothership in order to fight against the lefty foreign threat.

.

I need to start a campaign to urge other pissed off leftys to move to Utah, and get a gay marriage bill passed.

Sounds good, let's just not make it one big caravan when we go though. There's a little bit of Mormon history alluringly alliterated as the Mountain Meadows massacre.

They get a little touchy in Utah if they think you're coming for 'em...

The only problem with that is having to live in Utah.

I found it interesting that one of the white blonde women wouldn't give in to Bill's premise-- that protest at black churches was avoided for political correctness. Hoover actually was making sense. The fact is the Mormon Church dumped all kinds of money into passing Prop 8 and people are pissed about that. They should lose their 501(c)3 status. I didn't hear about black preachers doing the same, or black churches dumping money into a Pro Prop 8 campaign (maybe they don't have as much money). She was right that it's part of their own bigotry (to her, values) that made the interesting statistic about blacks voting for the measure. She was also right that, ultimately, protesters are mad at anyone who took their rights away, and I think their focus on the Mormon church is warranted.

I always thought the two young men knocking at my door looked a little sweet on each other...

..two of the Romney siblings. Did they drive up in a bus by any chance..?

..offer them any rhubarb pie :O

It won't be long now before the intellectually challenged and psychologically dysfunctional freakshow audience that has made Mr. O'Reilly a multi-millionaire will slink back into the dark places of history like vampires at a coming dawn who know that their evils can't survive the bright light of an enlightened and changed American political landscape. Societal aberrations like O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Ingrahm, Savage, Beck, Schlesinger and Matalin are bloodsucking parasites who will find that an Obama administration will kill them with apathy and or squash them when they try too outrageously to continue to foment divisiveness and hated for the sake of ratings and personal aggrandizement. A new day is dawning, and practioners of hate talk are going to suffer the consequences of their mercenary exploitation of a rejected and humiliated lunatic fringe.

Well said.

The best part, is that they are so freakin' stupid, they don't realize it.

As the organizer of the Saddleback protest I think Bill's argument is ridiculous. I like how Colbert said we should be protesting at the "First Church of Black". Yes - black voters were 69% Yes on 8. But you know what? Christians were 66% Yes on 8. And Rick Warren is one of the most influential figures in this country, let alone at his church. When he says vote yes - you can believe most who hear that message will follow it. He doesn't need to change his beliefs, but shame on him for telling his followers to vote to remove rights to a group of people.

http://saddleback8protest.blogspot.com/

I'm not sure I've ever stuck up for Bill-O, but in all honesty...he has SOMEWHAT of a point.

He's not smudging facts this time, the blacks really did vote 70% for the gay marriage ban.

Where I disagree with him is that he's trying to put the entire blame on the blacks, when we all know they were not the only reason this terrible ban got passed.

But they should take some blame.

Shame on 70% of the black community for voting for discrimination and bigotry. Shame on the white community for voting for discrimination and bigotry. Shame on EVERYONE who voted for discrimination and bigotry.

..there will always be oodles of shame to pass around, along with the collection plate.

jmo.

He's not smudging facts this time, the blacks really did vote 70% for the gay marriage ban.

70% of the African American community, which makes up 12% of the electorate, voted against gay marriage. The difference is palpable when you consider that the electorate is 70% white. O'Really is a master of spin and he knows the numbers game like he knows how to yell, interupt and point his goddamned finger to "get" his point across.

His point that it was the 70% of the 12% African American community over the 88% of the 70% white community that were the faction that pushed prop 8 to succeed is just plain wrong.

This book must be sitting on Bill O's coffee table and must be his bible:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Lie_with_...

Which is why I say he is somewhat correct.

He is certainly misleading, but the fact is 70% of the 12% black electorate did vote for the ban is something that should be put to shame.

If you would have qouted the rest of me I went on to say that I acknowledge that the blacks are not the main reason (as OReilly would like some to believe) that this ban passed and there is plenty of heads to be sirved on a silver platter this time around.

By the way, the first time I heard that statistic it wasn't from Bill-O, it was from our worshipped newsoutlet, MSNBC.

Pure Hate Doctrine...

The reason that there are protests in front of Mormon churches is because they provided 77% of the funding. The second largest benefactor of the Yes on 8 Campaign was the Catholic Church. They paid for Yes on 8 and its associated deceptive advertising campaign.

The deceptive advertising targeted Blacks and Latinos, which won their votes by misinforming them of what Prop 8 meant. Black people did not pay for the campaign. The protests are targeting the sources of funding.

The Mormons may cry religious bigotry all they want, but they are not being targeted because they are Mormons. They are being targeted because they funded the campaign, and when the campaign was done, they issued a statement congratulating themselves for the winning campaign that they conducted.

omg, this is just amazing. Where to even start....maybe with Monica Crowley...just sitting there agreeing with the bile Bill-O spews. I have no issue with protests, but why saddleback, why not black churches??? What??? So O'Rielly is convinced that saddleback is a white exclusive church? What the hell is a black church?? Is it the 50's? Do we have white and black churches?? And does he not realize there are black homosexuals?? I guess he didnt make it out to hollywood before the election and see the people with signs that said protect your rights as a homosexual vote yes on prop 8......I guess he didnt see the ads flat out lieing out prop 8 saying that for some reason voting no on 8 would threaten marriage.....IT HAS NOTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH STRAIGHT MARRIAGE!!!! IT DOES NOT TAKE ANYONES RIGHT EXCEPT HOMOSEXUALS!!!! IT IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND ILLEGAL!!!! Repeal this civil rights severance and get back to reality!!

Surely the Churches as institutions that bank rolled this deserve to be pointed out by the protests and what not. They should probably even be the main focus, but I think Orally has a point (though I totally disagree with his reasoning). The black community overwhelmingly came out for Prop 8. The deserve SOME of the blow back.

Yes, anti-prop 8 folks could have done better outreach to the black community. Yes, anti-prop 8 forces could have couched arguments in civil rights terms to counter that community's general distaste for homosexuality. Prop 8 should be a huge wake up call for the social liberal wing of the Democratic part. Its time for Soc. Libs. to account for the black wing of the party.

*obsess* over issues of equality, often under the guise of claiming that liberals obsess over issues of equality.

because, black churches did not fund or encourage the vote billy. they were individuals that voted against it. the mormon church used punishment as a motivator for their flock. give money, work to take their rights away or you will be excommunicated.
i know intelligent discussion is impossible for you. by the way, i think you should take the lead. you go and stand out in front of the black churches and bully them personally. (please bring that crack cameraman you use when you send your minions out to harrass people at their homes)

I'm surprised no one made the point that blacks aren't a monolithic group, Christians however are. And the blacks that did vote for prop 8 were most likely Christians. Also, why blame the entire black community when all of the blacks didn't vote for the prop. It's like people want to make it seem all blacks are crazy bible thumping fundamentalists when in reality many aren't. To the person who said there was a lot of anti-semitism in the black community, that is also not true. I wouldn't say there is alarming amount more than there is bigotry in any other ethnic group. It almost seems blacks are held to a higher standard of tolerance but Mormon whites or Catholic Latinos all have their prejudices. But at least I can recognize that it's because of their RELIGION not because of their skin color.

Black churches (whatever that means) were not responsible for the onslaught of untruths and propaganda in regard to Prop 8. The Mormon Church from Utah and the Catholic Church were the ones who provided the funding and support for Prop 8. Hence, why people who opposed Prop 8 are upset at the Mormon Church and Catholic Church. People can vote however they choose, but misinformation if screamed loud enough will affect a person's vote.

Sincerely,

Reason

My only question is - Who is keeping Bill from protesting for equal marriage rights at these black churches? If he so strongly supports equal marriage rights I think he should have the right to protest whereever he likes.

/snark (for the multitudes of newbees who may not yet be used to the snark level around here)

First thing's first. Are there any black Mormons?

If there are any black Mormons, are there enough of them for them to have their own church?

If the answer is yes to both of these question, only then could O'Reilly's rant have any real meaning.
