Bernie Sanders: We Need Medicare for All at State Level, Not Wholesale Repeal of Health Care Law
Thank you Sen. Sanders. While discussing the ruling by Florida tea party Judge Roger Vinson to invalidate the Affordable Care Act, Bernie had this to day about what we need to do to fix out broken health care system.
SANDERS: At the end of the day, let's be clear, the United States is the only nation in the industrialized world that does not provide health care for all of our people and yet we end up spending almost twice as much as any other country. Is this health care reform bill the bill I would have written? No, it is not.
And one of the changes that I want to see is not to repeal the whole bill, but to give states the flexibility to go forward in more effective ways. In my state I would like to see; and I think we've got a shot at passing a Medicare for all, single payer bill, which in a cost effective way could provide health care to all of our people.
Those are the changes we need. Not the wholesale repeal of this legislation.
His state of Vermont is going to be under attack for trying to do this by the special interests that don't want to see it work. Let's hope they prove them wrong and get the system enacted and maybe it will spread to other states.

OK, *if* the great state of Vermont can pass their Medicare for all bill, *then* I will stipulate that being able to buy insurance across state lines would be a good thing - as long as I can buy into the Vermont plan...

The states are broke. Advocating for medicare at the state level is advocating for thin air as there is no money to pay for it and there will be very few resources available in the future for the citizen majority in America as corporations control the fed, treasury, the military, congress, the white house and the supreme court and these corporations are only concerned with increasing their profit.
A state that cares enough about its People to offer something like universal single payer healthcare coverage is the state that I want to be receiving my state income tax, property tax, personal property and sales tax monies....that's in addition to whatever additional taxes I might be paying to finance single payer healthcare. It's the state whose businesses I want to give my business to.
And the red state that I live in? It can lose all those revenues and take a flying leap....

We are working on creating a state bank. Currently WA uses BOA as its official bank but the abuses by the banksters has gone too far in the eyes of Washiungton and we are paving the way to self sustain our state. States need to do what needs to be done on their own. This corrupt government is doing nothing to help our own people.
