Oh look! Annie's trying to sell another book—and spouting her typical outrageous crap which is frankly growing quite tiresome. I'd like to know why Joy Behar thinks Coulter should be given another national format besides ClusterFox to spread her bile.
Behar asks Ann Coulter why there are so many more threats against President Obama to the point that it’s “straining the Secret Service” and of course Coulter is completely dismissive of the idea that what Behar cited is even true.
Coulter: I do not—I don’t know what the evidence is. I would be shocked if there were more threats against Obama.

As in-accurate as this crab trap is, I've grown weary of the BS dichotomy of Liberal vs Conservative labels; the assumption that their values are exclusive of each other, or that the words have always meant the same in American politics. We have some serious problems on both sides of the isle and need to start talking in real terms, not old memes. Therefor the replay of this bitch is just for comedy, not discussion.
I don't think liberalism v conservatism are merely labels, just fluid. Liberals show a conservative streak when they want to protect liberal institutions and programs, conservatives act like liberals when they want to wipe away such institutions and programs. It's a question of who has the power and who wants it.
However, anarchism which can be roughly summarized as less government, sounds like the embodiment of Grover Norquist wanting government so small you can drown it in the bathtub. But then is everyone a liberal who simply doesn't want the police knocking on their door? Would that include Bonnie and Clyde, would that include someone living in a Police State?

But don't you think the media and much of the public treat them as labels? There is definitely a "branding" effort going on and people start to believe the brand they have been sold rather than to see the subtle changes happening to the brand, such as downsizing and price changing.

Words and languages are only labels, essentially nonsensical babbling that somehow we all agreed had common meanings.
Political labels are only labels if one over simplifies them, which is what the media does to sell the public products like bottles of ketchup. It's basic marketing, which is what TV is all about. The programming is basically to get us to watch their commercials.
We just have to stop thinking like TV marketers. In some ways, I think that's what much of my humor is all about, showing the meaninglessness behind certain expressions and catch-phrases, which to me seems absurd, and absurdity is the lifeblood of humor, even if no one laughs.

Being from Dallas, that's problematical. You see plenty of pictures of Dallasites crying at the news of Kennedy's assassination, and maybe they were liberals, or just over what's been called the loss of American innocence.
But there are stories of Dallas schoolkids cheering at the news and others.

I wouldn't know, I'm not old enough to know. But the odds were most of Texas wanted his policies defeated. At the time Texas was a Yellow Dog State, and would Yellow Dogs want a Democrat killed?
But for years there had been resentment against what was considered the out-of-towners who decided it had to happen here. Lee Harvey Oswald was living in Oak Cliff in South Dallas, but had only recently moved there.
My memory is being tickled though. I seem to recall a documentary about rather nasty remarks being said in speeches at political luncheons here, about a year before the assassination.
That's not saying those at the luncheon wanted Kennedy dead necessarily, but it brings to mind the sarah rallies and gun packing idiots at Obama appearances.
Texas may have been a "yellow dog" Democrat state, but the state party was controlled exclusively by whacked out segregationists and corporate kingpins, against which a semi-liberal populist uprising (enhanced by the civil rights and labor movements) fought tooth and nail. Indeed, the main reason that JFK had gone to Dallas on that fatal day was to resolve a major split in the Texas Dem party that threatened to even remove LBJ off the VP ticket....and to help out John Connolly in his fight against liberal Ralph Yarborough for the US Senate. (or was that the Governorship??)
Obviously, his assassination and the elevation of LBJ (and the near mortal wounding of Connolly) essentially boosted his efforts and basically obliterated the liberal/populist wing of the party, which hasn't really recovered since. (Other than Lloyd Doggett, Jim Hightower, and the Black communities of Dallas and Houston, and the increasing Hispanic electorate, that is.)

I don't doubt Oswald was a communist sympathizer, but I do have my doubts he acted alone.
Many powerful interests in this country wanted Kennedy dead, and I can guarantee they weren't liberals.
Sometimes there are too many coincidences in these matters, like the member of the Warren Commission who had doubts about their conclusions being killed in a suspicious plane crash.
Normally I'm not a conspiracy believer, but we can't discount the fact America has assassinated untold numbers of people around the world, many of them US citizens, and anyone who knows the truth behind this activity would quickly become a target himself should he decide to sing.
America has a tendency to see the famous for whatever reason as larger than life, so the idea of some loser acting alone in bringing down such a person is anathema to them. There could've been more people involved in supporting positions to kill Kennedy, like there were those who killed Lincoln, but they need not be governmental figures.
That being said I always thought Jack Ruby was an interesting figure. He was a minor mobster. His ambition was to be the made man, or the patriot. But if the mob were involved in the assassination of Kennedy, his brother was going after them as attorney general, it sounds like both Oswald and Ruby could've been set up as patsies. The CIA had worked with the Mafia to try to assassinate Castro, so they had pre-existing links, but Robert Kennedy was after the Mafia's ass.
And then again that might just be coincidence; who in high power has no enemies?
But to bring it back to the subject of the thread, if Kennedy was a Mafia hit, with Oswald and Ruby as patsies, this has nothing to do with politics, but crime and punishment.
And to derail all of what I said above, if it was a Mafia hit, wouldn't it have happened in Washington, with his brother as the target?
I forget who but some gangster (maybe Giancanna) said that in relation to the JFK killing. Killing RFK would have left one very powerful very pissed off president, killing JFK left RFK powerless. Read the account of Hoover calling RFK to tell him his brother was shot, Hoover was almost snickering over the phone. LBJ hated RFK almost as much as Hoover, ever since the convention, once LBJ was president RFK was essentially powerless.
But all the evidence seems pretty conclusive to me (as conclusive as its possible to be in this kind of situation) that it was some collaboration between the mob and elements of the CIA. For example the "second Oswald" that shows up in Mexico City, the involvement of the Cubans, the manipulation of Oswald, all of that required CIA collaboration.
Too many details about Oswalds life don't add up. Worked on the U2 project, "renounced" his citizenship and defected to Russia, was allowed to return as a citizen WITH a Russian wife (who's uncle was KGB).
He was a provocateur. Actually the correct term to describe the various incidents involving Oswald that were made public is "sheep-dipping".
It's never been clear which service he worked for. Most likely CIA, but could have been one of the others. Likely why his tax returns were declared as classified.

The only problem with allowing her go unchallenged is that it allows that vile to be spoken over and over. Some on the right would then think that it CAN'T be challenged so it must be true. Ann Coulter's demeanor is so jittery, twitchy, clenchy-jawed and unrelievedly angry. She has always reminded me of someone who was treated bad by her peers during the super-sensitive, formative years covering grades 5 through 8 in school. Not just treated KINDA bad. She was literally despised, her name synonymous with "eeewwwww." She was the unfriendly girl everyone knew for an insufferable smarty pants, who talked loud, butted in, never smiled, flipped out when she lost in a game at recess or was proven wrong in front of people, but didn't make the best grades, either, just acted smart at the expense of anyone she could try it on, such that the result was some very real loathing from all the other kids. She was the girl nobody would sit by, but not because she was ugly and shy, though not being pretty certainly played its part in her set of issues. She wasn't a "victim" of bullying, she actually earned animosity. I went to two different schools that had a girl like that. Mary Sue and Darlene. The girl who brought it on herself. The one you couldn't be nice to, cuz it wouldn't do any good. The one who, the more you disliked her, the less likable she got. (I knew a few boys like this, too. Roy Lee Doucet, are you a nicer person now?)
With Coulter, it still shows. She's stuck. It must be hard, but too, it must be fabulous to have an overwhelmingly negative effect on people, to turn that gun around, point it the other way and make a living at it!
