Andrea Mitchell Thinks the President Should Call Liberals into His Office and Say "You've Got to Get in Line"
The David Gregory and Andrea Mitchells of the world have decided to declare the public option dead and of course all of those silly liberals who think that the bill would be a giveaway to the insurance industries without it need to just shut up and get in line. Mitchell says "I just don't get the lack of discipline here". Hey Andrea, there are three co-equal branches of government, or have you forgotten that? And it is not going to destroy Obama's Presidency if he actually listens to the majority that elected him and does what they would like.
As my C&L cohort Nicole pointed out, this article does a good job of explaining just what we're watching right now. From Mike Lux at Open Left- The News Big Media Won't Report:
Every morning I still read my old fashioned paper copy of the morning Washington Post on the subway on my way to the office, and then I sit down to review all the information I am getting from field events and town halls around the country, lobbyists' reports from those meeting with Senate and House members and staff, updates from organizations working in the field. I have to say that the two sets of information could not be further apart, and it makes me wonder again what the disconnect is.
[....]
As I've written before, between some combination of their own pre-conceived conventional wisdom talking points and their love of covering a train wreck, traditional media does not want to report the good news about health care reform. I can't remember ever seeing in any traditional media story, for example, the fact that (as Chris Bowers reported) there is now a majority in both the House and the Senate that are on the public record in support of a public option.
The future of health care reform hangs in the balance. We are in the fight of our lives- but if you listen to the traditional media, you would think it is all over.
Lots more there so be sure to check out the whole article, but he's right. The media has decided to tell everyone that the fight is over and so go sit down and shut up if you don't like it. I would hope that is the last thing anyone that wants to see some real reform is doing.

Liberals should Call the President into Congress and Say "You've Got to Get in Line"
"Andrea Mitchell Thinks" is an oxymoron.
What do you expect from Mrs. Alan Greenspan, the libertarian?
Mainly I trust CSPAN, not ABC News, CBS News and only Brian Williams at NBC News.
I have a question for each of you. If you ran Rite Aid Corporation, a Republican contributor, as their CEO which runs pharmacies across the US and hundreds of thousands of righteously annoyed progressives sent emails to you which read "I refuse to do business with you until you get congress and the president to enact HR676 single payer health care."
What would you do?
Make that Rite Aid CEO ask herself what she would do.

fullOcrap. I kept trying to, but I can't stomach listening to 'get in line'. sorry
Some stuff you can't make up!
The American people are being plundered by Corporate America. They own the entire Republican Party & the Blue Dog Democrats. They tell Obama when to jump & how high. Our only hope is the House Progressive Caucus. It's all that stands between the insurance company death panels, their owned politicians & the welfare of the American people. I don't give a tinker's damn if Obama is re-elected in 2012 if he won't choose the interests of the people over Corporate America. If there is no public option, it is because the President did not want one.
It is time for us to raise a LOT of hell and help our progressives which are the only group trying to protect and support us.. If we leave them out to dry them we will deserve the deceit and BS for Obama , Emanuel with his blue dogs and centrists...
Just who Obama and Emanuel attack as they are the ones screwing up his spineless fight for Americans.
Obama is attacking the progressives and demanding that they get in line..
H.ll The party of six Obama and Emanuel put in charge of the health reform bill has finally even stated they never even thought of putting a single payer or a public option into the health reform bill.
So the health empire's political and other funds and benefits are to good for them to even consider a single payer or single option into the bill..... Which 77 percent of Americans WANT>.
So their whole purpose was to make sure these option were never put into the bill and to screen any and all information about the health empires demands which were placed into the bill..

So the so called liberal to protect Bush created a film of BS trying to blame this attack on Clintion
The film was initially promoted as having a high level of authenticity, but controversy arose when this claim was later removed by ABC.
The documentary was bankrolled by Citizens United, a conservative nonprofit group run by David Bossie, a former chief investigator into Clinton's alleged involvement in the Whitewater scandal.

The republicans really are a bunch of BS... They look in the mirror to find their deceit and corruption but as it comes out they try to throw it at the democrats..
The one problems democrats have , is they do not select a new candidate to replace the republican-democrats like the blue dogs in time for the elections.

Yes, that's exactly what's wrong with America today, isn't it? (Well, with _government_ at least.) For way too long, we've had a Glorious Fuhrer. A president who wouldn't STFU and faithfully execute the business of the country as the Executive Branch is detailed to do at the same time we've had a toadying, corporate Congress who would neither do what they were elected to do nor faithfully uphold the rule of law by reigning in our Glorious Fuhrer.
The British do have the right idea there. Separate the figurehead from the leader who actually coordinates with parliament to get the work done.
There are 210 liberals, and 50 bluedogs, and Mrs. Greenspan thinks he should tell the liberals to get in line?
What a freakin' hoot!
These people couldn't get anymore transparent if they tried. She's about as honest and competent as her husband - the dumbass who wrecked the world economy.

There are 83 declared members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

We have congressmen who are not "declared" members of the progressive caucus, but they most definitely are liberals!

payer. As it allegedly will not go into effect until 2013, there is nothing to be immediately gained from forcing this through now. Ask this question: What is Big Pharma getting in exchange for the $80 billion it is "giving" towards lessening the "donut hole" in Medicare Part D? Rest assured that it will get something worth more than it gives. If the GOP says they want it tanked, too, they're lying. That's the last thing they want, as their corporate sponsors will be the only ones to get anything out of any bill proposed other than single payer. It is a feeble attempt at reverse psychology. If it isn't single payer, you will regret it, and regret it for the rest of your lives.
From the size of the check I send them it looks like I'm the single payer paying for the entire country.
I and my wife are self employed. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (this is in New Hampshire) so kindly allows me to be in a "small" group. Both in our early fifties, no pre-existing conditions, never any big or even moderate sized claims. Last renewal in September 08 they kindly allowed me to balk at a 90 percent (NOT a typo) increase. By switching to an HSA I kept the increase at 70 percent.
You get the picture.
HSA's are only good for those that take home enough money to afford the high deductibles. HSA's will only contribute to the amount of uninsured as they lure more and more people who can afford to pay away from the employee provided plans. As more and more people are pulled out of the insurance pools offered by companies, companies will stop offering health insurance altogether. Why would companies do this? Because most companies that offer HSA's or insurance groups are "SELF-Insured" meaning they don't have to pay state mandated taxes under the ERSA law.
Sure you may think you are paying less or getting better insurance, but don't come crying to me when the next plaque comes knocking on your door because you were part of making the problem worse by ensuring more and more people, who are forced to go uninsured thus walking around sick for your unfettered tax breaks since HSA's are tax free.
More on HSA's -

Hey Andrea, in case you haven't noticed, just going along with everything the corporations, media or the president want hasn't really turned out all peaches and cream for this country. Hubby might be able to clue you in to that if it's a little hard to see from inside the beltway.
Propagandist's believing their own Propaganda? Or are the DC Power Brokers still convinced they can "Create their own Reality", and simply ignore those inconvenient liberal-biased Facts?
Discipline?
I think she confuses discipline with lock-step.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all
You Beltway clowns are like some elite and condescending overlords looking down with disdain on us serfs. Your simplistic notion that progressives ought to "get in line" is a laughable insult and reflects your naive view of what progressives really stand for.
What we really stand for is to rid the world of overpaid and overrated obstructionists like you that want to preserve the fraud you call the status quo at the expense of equity and justice for all.
If you can't lead Andrea, get the hell out of the way and shut your mouth too. I've had enough of you and your incompetent MSM colleagues poisoning our political dialogue with your pedantic and judgmental garbage that reflects the wishes of your corporate masters.

The news yesterday was that BHO wanted progressives and liberals to "take one for the team." I guess they finally learned something from the GOP. She's an operative. What else is new?
BHO should know that respect is earned and progressives have little inclination to subsidize programs and policies that are a known failure and if ignored, will cause greater problems in the future. Personally, I want to leave my children a better world, not an IOU for our good time because we lacked the courage to act affirmatively.
Risk taking is part of politics and I am really tired of risk adverse politicians. It's time that THEY sucked it up and took one for the team, not us. In the context of the health care discussion, there is no way every one will be appeased. Get a clue, people.

is because of the advertisers. Just look who funds NPR or any of the main news broadcasters. It's all pharmaceutical commercials, some defense, a lot of banking and insurance and plenty of issue ads being bought and aired.
If the subject was honest, those cash-flush advertising dollars would vaporize and heads at the news divisions would roll.
That government is, of the advertisers, for the advertisers and by the advertisers. The real facism is corporate control of this country. If we don't stand up now.....we are screwed.

If he keeps this didling around with the psychotic republicans, he's gonna be toast. The 46% of morons who voted McSame are never, ever going to support him.
That 46% could easliy become a GOP "majority" again if millions of liberals like me and my friends don't show up in 2012. I am not going to waste my time supporting any corporate fascist, I don't give a shit which party they belong too.
I'd vote Green, or skip to the next race on the ballot before I would ever vote for a god-damn bluedog. Obama is well on his way to "Rahming" himself into one ineffectual term. Snap out of it man! For all of our sakes.
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
If the Democrats put up a real Democrat in the primaries, Obama will get his ass handed too him in 2012. I could vote for a Dean/Kucinich/Sanders/ Gravel/Etc. ticket in any combination of two. If that doesn't happen, I'll either vote Green, other independent or sit it out. No more Council of Foreign Relations true believing "centrist" corporate prostitutes/conservative "Democrats". Are you doing a snark? From voting YES on the FISA Bill to continuing renditions, Obama is continuing the Imperial Presidency of Nixon/Bush. Remove the rose tinted glasses before it's too late. Obama is corporate owned, as is his chief-of-staff(Rove Jr.).
Dean / Kucinich / Sanders will never be contenders. The money interests will never let them in the game.
Corporate America was quite comfortable with McCain & Obama. Either would choose them over the American people. That's precisely what Obama is doing now as he has already sold out to Big Pharma & next is stopping the public option. He is doing what his true owners want. Just take the money & give some pretty speeches.
then it's time for We The People to use other avenues to disseminate information about OUR candidates and make sure the Corporate Megalomaniacs are left to stew in their own juices.
I want to hear more about what we CAN accomplish! I want us to STOP saying 'never' and 'can't' and any other negative statement that bolsters the Corporatists' smug confidence that We The People will continue to snarf their bipartisan red herrings and then go quietly into the night.
More and more of us are becoming aware. More and more of us are willing to stand up and save our nevers for the vile Corporate Megalomaniacs who are increasingly apprehensive about our awareness. Let's reframe the negatives, People: if the Corporatists weren't concerned, they would not be flooding the M$M with the Andrea Mitchells, the Bill O'Reillys, the Sean Hannitys, and the countless other lying liars who are ramping up their efforts to mislead and appease.
their party affiliation is actually democrat.
democrat is a political party, not a political philosophy/ideology. We had the chance to go for Gravel,Kucinich, etc in 2008. (Gravel supporter yo) the choice wound up as two corporate democrats (and at first one who might have been decent) who's supporters went insane, because of....wait for it....healthcare!!! remember, there was this big controversy because his plan supposedly sucked (truth be told, the only big differnce was that it lacked hil's element forcing people to buy healthcare). People voted for style over substance, and the left challenger in 2012 will be lucky if he can break double digits.
That is if one even steps forward.
I guess I need to change my screen name to 3xfooled now. Hope I don't go into Double digits by 2016
it's the damn DLC too!
hell even the prog caucus is showing a disturbing lack of fortitude.
The Clinton machine has been put back in place, Dean has been kicked to the curb.
Remember what the Clintons (DLC / DSCC / DCCC) gave us -
GATT
NAFTA
DEFENCE OF MARRIAGE ACT
DON'T ASK DON'T TELL
THAT'S WHAT THEY PUT THROUGH!
Laws that shipped our economy to Asia.
Laws that created and enforced discrimination.
That's the Clintons' legacy of success.
No wonder the republicans hate them so much - their program was stolen by the Clintons.
Healthcare flopped for the reason no one seems to remember:
Bill put Hillary in charge of the development of the bill as some sort of co-president. They were trying to take the jobs of the House and Senate and they were also working on a truly corporatist solution in favor of the insurance companies.
Obama is right to let the Houses of Congress develop the bill, but with (R)ahm as C-O-S, the Dems have made so many backroom deals, they can no longer be trusted. As long as there is the DLC / DSCC / DCCC, there is reason to fear what this bill will be.
As I see it, bipartisanship has been the disguise DLC / DSCC / DCCC has been using to hide behind that fact that they take money from the same places as the RepuglyK.K.Kans.
The media is essentially irrelevant, but for their main job of backing the elite and attacking all things progressive.
Some stuff you can't make up!
That is quite a synopsis. Not one wasted word or syllable, and everything I have been telling dems who loved them some Hillary.
When Obama hired Clinton flunky Rahm to reinstitutionalize the republicrat leadership, I knew the fix was in. Howard Dean got this guy elected, and gave him huge congressionl numbers to work with, and he listens to freaking Rahm Emmanuel? WTF?

'Talk to the hand'
If someone should get in line it should be those democrats standing in the way of a public option, including Obama. It's very simple, if Obama wants to save his presidency, he should deliver one of his strongest selling points during his campaign which is a public option for health care. Democrats have been weak and spineless like I have never seen during the past decade and even now, when they have all branches of the government, they are cowering like a bunch chickens. Pelosi has been a disgrace by not doing the right thing, and I'm surprised that she would say something important as she just did. I'm still not sure if I trust her because she talks more than she delivers and I'm afraid that health care won't be an exception.
If only democrats had the guts the misguided and disgusting republicans have.
The republicans ALWAYS stick together; nearly 100% of the time. That's because they are self-centered, sociapathic greedheads, who are working on their own behalf, and for their OWN interests.
It's much tougher to get someone to work on OUR behalf. That in a nutshell, is the entire pivot point on which American political discourse swings.
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
And you're truly demented if you believe that the direction the Republicans have taken this nation required "guts".
would you care to elaborate or simply insult?

Second, to credit Republicans for having "guts" for their many awful decisions(too many to mention) to me is similar to crediting a guy for having the courage to break in a woman's home and raping her.
Ya, i think fear propels them, rahter than guts.
I think he will include the public option, for no other reason that anything less is just rearranging the insurance corp. furniture, and unlike Republicans, what Obama proposes always makes sense. wednesday!

What specifically does the public option contain?
BTW, without the public option, elimination of preexisting condition denials, and the grotesquely immoral profiteering of the Insurance industry, I'm done.

Some stuff you can't make up!
First of all, calling me demented is childish. You need to grow up a little, specially because this is a matter of perspective, not facts.
To answer you question, yes. Invanding a country knowing they would be proved liars requires guts. When they had the majority, they set horrible policies on every aspect and despite opposition from democrats they simply said: "we have the majority, so shut the fuck up. We will do whatever we want". That's guts. I hope they go to jail for their guts, but they do have it.

It clear over the last year she has done almost everything she can, and with some behind the scenes help from Alan (Greespan that is) to undermine and double-talk everything Democrats have tried to do. She should either GET BACK IN LINE HERSELF OR go to work for cluster-fox where her idiotic BS will be tolerated. She can be hannratty's new sidekick...

Perhaps before her comments, she should mention that she is married to the architect of this booming economy.
And don't even get me started on David "Big Stretch" Gregory. If he is so smart, why are MTP ratings tanking.
Hard to believe, but when I first started watching the news in the 60's and early seventies, they would introduce someone like Andrea and DISCLOSE the fact she was MRS. FRICKIN' GREENSPAN!

A prediction. I like that. i have a feeling we will know one way or the other fairly soon. That will leave another three years to go in his first term. I say, if he drops the public option the whole thing no longer makes sense - so he'll keep it in, but if he does drop the public option, he will still win the second term if he brings the troops home, and a few other things.

No, he won't. No public option, and the progressives will sit on their hands in 2012. Every other OECD country has some form of national health. In Switzerland, its a tightly TIGHTLY regulated regime of private insurance companies. In the UK, it's nationalised with private option expansions. In Canada, basic health is public, but eyes and teeth are private and regulated. THIS IS BASIC. This is simple. If he doesn't have the cojones to follow through with a national health system, then the left will walk away.
Bringing troops back is a no brainer - heck - even George Will is screaming for that.
But national health would indicate a fundamental shift in American domestic policy, and if Obama shirks this, the left will leave him to the dogs. And he will deserve it.
It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it.

Frankly, if the dems broke into a progressive party and bluedog party, and the republicans split into a moderate wing and the batshit crazy wing they have become, the country would be better off.
The progressives would be able to build coalitions much easier than the 20% lunatic fringe teabagger kooks. They would be the biggest losers if this happened.

What is the public option? What is contained within it? Please be specific. I am serious. I do not know what is in it. Please tell me.
Andrea is married to one of the major players involved in our current economic wreckage, a protege of Ayn Rand herself, Alan Greenspan.
mrs. greenspan has been blowing this smoke about 'the left' all summer. As has chuck todd, tweety, ed henry and david gregory's big brother at cnn john king. 'The left' as they describe it is really THE PEOPLE who voted for the President there are blacks, young new voters, labor, and progressives. The people, to whom he emphatically stated that Single Payer was the ONLY way to keep the insurance companies honest.
Then he cuts a deal with big Pharma.
In what he plans to say wednesday....
"He will not confront or scold the left. “This is a case for bold action, not a stick in the eye to our supporters,” said an official involved in speech preparation...'
Why would the left NEED to be scolded?
I had been thinking the President was playing 3D chess and August was a ropeadope. When yesterday, he actually called the Progressives and asked them what would they budge on all that went up in methane. Frank Rich was right and prescient on August 9...
"G.O.P. leaders like Mitch McConnell and John Boehner are that they keep trying to scare voters by calling Obama a socialist. They have it backward. The larger fear is that Obama might be just another corporatist, punking voters much as the Republicans do when they claim to be all for the common guy. If anything, the most unexpected — and challenging — event that could rock the White House this August would be if the opposition actually woke up."
I hate when these a-holes try to predict the future: "Obama's presidency is on the line", etc. Andrea Mitchell is one smarmy corporate whore, she has a way of sneaking in those corporate orders from on high in her smug fashion that offends me to no end. Corporate media proves nearly 99% of the time to be utterly designed to maintain the status quo. I'm sorry I don't trust any of it, even KO and Maddow. TV is garbage.

Canada's unemployment rate nudged up 0.1 percent to 8.7 percent in August 2009, Statistics Canada reported from Ottawa Friday.
http://www.hrmguide.co.uk/jobmarket/unemploym...
August 12 2009 - The unemployment rate rose to 7.8% - up 0.7% over the quarter and 2.4% on last year. Nearly 29 million people were in work in the period April to June according to the labour force survey (LFS). The number of people employed was down by 271,000 this quarter and down by 573,000 on the last year.
Both of these countries did bank bailout, enacted economic stimulus, and have national health care systems. In the UK you can purchase private insurance which covers 8% of their population. I wonder if there is a correlation between NHS and Unemployment. Sure saves companies a lot of money I bet ya..
http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/Daily-Reports...
"Six of the [California's] largest insurers rejected 45.7 million claims for medical care, or 22% of all claims, from 2002 to June 30, 2009, according to the California Nurses [Association's] analysis of data submitted to regulators by the companies." Some insurers' denial rates ranged over 30 percent. Attorney General Jerry Brown said, "These high denial rates suggest a system that is dysfunctional, and the public is entitled to know whether wrongful business practices are involved"
The rejection rates ranged from a high of 39.6% for PacifiCare, United Health Group subsidy being the most profitable. 6.5% for Aetna for the first half of 2009. Cigna denied 33%, and Health Net 30%.

republicanism is a mental illness!
After all the Repulicans are blameless for the current mess we find ourselves in, in addition, they won the last elction, not only the presidency but both Houses. Why shouldn't they be calling the shots. The other party is filled with nothing but cowards and the conservative right recognizes that and will exploit it at every turn.
In my state we already tried the CO OP and it failed. As soon as folks signed up the rates started rising. Ended up being no cheaper than open market. Co Op is a FRAUD.
WE WANT PUBLIC OPTION. It's OBAMA who should get in line.
Who cares about Obama's "Presidency"????
We care more about "A M E R I C A" Remember that?
You know, the nation that has gone broke and NEEDS HELP?
Public option or I quit the party.
Period.
I will become an Independent in the vein of Senator Sanders.
my mind!
Some stuff you can't make up!
Can't anyone answer this question? Do you know? If you don't know what is in it, then how do you know you want it? Someone tell me what is in it? I really do not know.
A mandate to buy private insurance, and a penalty if you don't.
It's the choice whether to go with the government paying your insurance for you. You have the option to go with the greedy, immoral insurance companies that have caused untold death and suffering or a govt. payment plan that guarantees coverage.
Politics is for the present, but an equation is for eternity. Albert Einstein
will not involve a real gov't plan, but a pooled private insurance plan, basically allegedly, private insurers competing against the individual insurance plans. vague, non-sensical hogwash masquerading as a proposed competitor to private insurance. It has not been made clear to me in a fashion that convinces me that it is other than smoke to tickle my sphincter.
Some stuff you can't make up!
In simple terms, it's when every citizen puts a small amount into a national pot, that is drawn from to pay for health services when they are needed. you pay way less because there is a huge number of people on the plan and only a few are sick at any one time.
"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob"
-= Franklin Delano Roosevelt =-
That made so much sense, that Teabaggers and Fox zombies everwhere have soiled their pants trying to process the sheer magnitude of its logic.
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
One, which is a watered-down public option, where the government sets up basically a mini-insurance company. They then have to self-fund on premiums alone, and negotiate fees with providers. Since on day one no-one will be enrolled this public-option mini-company they will have no muscle to negotiate rates. So providers and pharma will charge top rates, making initial premiums high. It will mean more paperwork for providers. Even with the lower over head (and not that much lower since they have to negotiate contracts which takes manpower) the initial premiums, since it must be fully self-funded will be high. Basically it is hampered to ensure it is no competition to private plans, chance it will offer cheaper premiums will be very low. Very few doctors would be participating until individual contracts were worked out. Insurance companies and blue dogs call this the "level playing field option", they do not fear it.
Two, sets initial provider reimbursement rates at Medicare rates, with a 5% bonus to doctor's who currently take Medicare. Hopefully, the paperwork will be the same as or very similar to Medicare's for providers. So, most doctors that currently take Medicare would probably sign up. Initial premiums would be low, comparable to Medicare, but perhaps slightly more expensive. Still, with less overhead, hopefully most would be competitive with or lower than private insurance premiums. Remember, most who don't have insurance now can't afford the private rates, so a rate that isn't lower won't help. Basically this version is Medicare, but with 5% better reimbursement to doctor's to entice a long list of providers to join on day one. Hopefully with subsidies many current uninsured could afford this option. One amendment lets people on VA or TRICARE sign up immediately, if they want. Another amendment to this version has it able to negotiate rates after 3 years. By then it should have a large pool and muscle enough to keep good rates, if it worked. This is the one that has insurance companies and republicans worried, it is seen as competition and a path to eventual single-payer if it gets big enough merge with Medicare.
Option two, is what the progressive caucus stated they support as the "robust public option". That is what they want, or no vote. I can see why, option one is a waste of money to even set up.
In the Senate, one committee has no public option in its draft, another has a public option that looks like the watered-down version one.
Mandates & subsidies are in all versions, just with varying scales, cut-offs and fines. This site http://healthreform.kff.org/ has a nice comparison tool. It includes HR 676 and some other compromise bills as well.
Mine too! Wow, that's freaky!
Rush Limbaugh is what a smart person thinks a stupid bigot sounds like.
... 70% of the people want a public option and the President should call in Pelosi and tell her to get in line in opposition to the public option? Andrea... you are fucking nuts!
And for you Mr. President if you sign a bill without a public option the Repugs will be correct... it'll be your waterloo. You WILL lose most of your liberal base and ALL of the independents that you promised healthcare reform.
A co-op or such won't cut the mustard. You caved on the single player, now on the public option. A lot of us liberal won't be going to the polls on the next president election... or worse vote against you... and I will.
We stand behind what 70% of the American people want. You've got 50+Biden in the Senate.
You say you need 60 in the senate? I say bullshit. Make them filibuster. Make them do it.
Make them stand in front of the American people decrying the evils of socialized medicine.
And while you're doing that, scroll the number of visits each of these thugs has made to Bethesda.
Detail the government-run health care programs they and their families enjoy.
Make them actually do it.
Why not? What have you got to lose?
The Democratic party will not have this much power for long. "Elect more Democrats" is no longer a viable excuse for inaction.
If you can't get the people's work done with this much of an advantage, then you're not fit to lead no matter how Neanderthal your opposition is.
We need to get in line? Look again. We got you here. We've demonstrated OUR value. You have yet to demonstrate yours.
No public option, no support. Not one dime. Not one vote.
they gave us more republican rule through bipartisanship.
Some stuff you can't make up!
Mrs. Allen Greenspan? Allen Greenspan was devotee of Ayn Rand and laizze faire capitalism. He was all for lack of regulation and giving business all they wanted. Gregory is a GOP tool. Who would expect any less from these two?
...he stood before the American People and said "I was wrong."
Too little, too late as it turns out. But at least he knows he's a flat earth idiot when it comes to how money works.
Like all objectivists.
Obama better wake up and come to his senses , he will get no where with the Mr. Nice guy bi partisan bit and putting up with bullshit from within his own party . Is Obama living in the real world ? The Obama presidency is going to be a joke unless he is able to get pissed off and get tough .
It seems he might actually believe this bullshit(neoliberalism).
I honestly think he cares more about this image as a unifying inoffensive figure than actual policy.
She wants Obama to tell the liberals to get in line but not the Blue Dogs? Fuck you you shriveled up old hag. Die already.
was standing in line waiting for brains she thought they said “Trains” and said she wanted a little toy one!
david gregory, that bastion of american journalistic integrity can hold hands with Joe Lieberman, karl Rove and GW right into the abyss of hell. They all deserve one another's company for eternity.
One has to wonder, do these Corporate shills really believe what they are saying?!?!
Are they truly so out of touch with reality?!?
Some C&L bloggers regularly assert that Republicanism is a mental illness. We The People who are working to advance our nation in ways that benefit MOST of us are starting to recognize that Corporate Megalomania is the mental illness, and it afflicts people of all ages, races, religions, and political affiliations.
And, if we don't work together now to excise this cancer deep in the bowels of our nation, we will richly deserve the outcome we are about to receive.
Republicans NEVER mention how they would do anything to control costs, to keep insurance companies from reaping a bonanza of profits (with taxpayer help) when there is no lever for controlling what they can charge. But they sure will tell you how "bad" govenment is, and how "bad" any other system is.....
For all their "knowledge" of other systems, why has there not been a SINGLE Republican fact-finding trips to places like Switzerland, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Canada, where they could seek first-hand proof of their claims that the health care systems in these places are so terrible, so inefficient, and that their residents are just clamoring for our for-profit insurance companies to come and save them. Why, they might even be able to interview people waiting and dying in lines for their rationed care....
We know why they won't do it.....not when they can lie to their gullible base and get away with it.
to a guy (Alan Greenspan) who was a devotee of Ayn Rand needs to do a bit o' homework and research why therapist Nathaniel Brandon parted company w/Rand and disavowed the efficacy of Objectivism.
Second, she ought to do some critical thinking by examining the work of Naomi Klein -- her team (ReFucklican) drove our country off a cliff and has been picking our pockets since (at least) the Reagan administration. We're reeling from Shock Doctrine economics, a thing Milton Friedman and seemingly Ben Bernanke are pushing to the wall.
How dare Andrea Bitchell and Gregory state that we ought to fall in line? We're not Stepford Fustercluck Republicans! We don't play that crap!!
"By words the mind is winged." - Aristophanes
What struck me is Gregory saying (about Stimulus bill) - "they (Pelosi et al) were effectively writing the legislation." Well, no kidding. They are legislators. Legislators write legislation. Checks, balances...
