Al Franken's press conference following Norm Coleman's concession. I think Al's going to be one of the good guys. Who knows what Coleman's motivation was for conceding so quickly after the Minnesota Supreme Court finally made its ruling. A governor's run in the horizon perhaps? I'm just glad he finally did it. Welcome to the Senate Al.

Congratulations to Senator Al Franken!
But on to another concern:
Last night, a guest on Glenn Beck said that America NEEDED another terrorist attack, and Beck nodded in hearty agreement. Where is the outrage? After all the times that Republicans have thrown 9/11 at Dems, how come Obama and the Dems don't ban ALL NewsCorp reporters from ALL press conferences and interviews until NewsCorp, Fox and Beck and his guest issue a REAL apology to the American people. I think we should really work on this.

Coleman was exhausted and was looking for a legitimate way to bow out and save face, to not look as though he caved. Once the Supreme Court rules, in reality, there isn't a lot more. It was his chance to call it quits. I'm sure the fight cost him dearly financially.

Poor little Coleman!!! Now, he'll have to get a job!!!! No more whoreing for the PUKIES, 'cause, gee, they used up all, every single bit of the Coleman mojo.hahahahah Months and months of PUKIE antics just to make sure someone Democratic in the real meaning of the word, not the DLC PUKIE LITE has WELLSTONE'S seat!

Suck on this, O'Reilly!

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!

Who knows, maybe Coleman has to go to Argentina or something...

I live in New York State, and I contributed to Al's campaign when he was running and I gave twice more to his fund to fight Coleman in the recount. Best money I ever spent.

Oh, and everyone is saying how "gracious" Coleman was in conceding? To which I say, up yours, Norm. I believe in fair elections, and it was his right to challenge. But he gave up any right to fairness when he allied himself with conservative Republican fuckheads that just want to block legislation by stalling an election.

Now I'm hearing reports Coleman may want to run for Governor now that Tim Pawlenty has said he will not run for another term. So, its all just crass politcal calculation on his part.

Let's hope the good people of Minnesota will be smart enough to get rid of Coleman and Census-denier Michelle Bachmann at the same time. From a state that produced Paul Wellstone AND Al Franken, it's hard to believe there are knuckle-draggers that still vote for Republican half-wits.

Democratic Party progressive, Vietnam veteran and proud Union member for 41 years

Maybe enough people will take Bachmann's advice and not fill out the census forms, so that Minnesota loses enough population to lose a congressional seat, preferably hers.

I'd love to take a drive through Bachman's district...but I get the feeling my insurance company wouldn't cover it.

And thanks Coleman for wasting months of everyone's precious time and money...dumbass.

Coleman's not in the process of reinventing himself, so he can distance himself from his "I'm just another Republican asshole" label.

Around the office yesterday we were talkin about Franken, and our new office manager was like..."Oh...you're all Democrats here?" Like that's a bad thing...and I said, after the last 8 years I can't see how anyone could claim to be a proud republican...and she called me an Obamabot.
WTF?
I laughed in her face.

and you're response should be "and you are DEVO...D..E..V..O'...

but I held my tongue.
We just hired her, and I don't want to run her off because of a political disagreement, she is doing a damn good job, and it's hard to find someone with her skills here in the keys.

ThunderMonkey's picture

If someone says something like "Obamabot"... my response is: What does that mean?

I bore them down on the technicality of the definition to the point that they don't even bring up the word or another word like it.

I've found the best way to stand up to Republicans is to get them to explain just what in the hell they're talking about. It turns out 49 times out of 50, they have no clue and then they realize it just how stupid they sound.

Welcome Senator Franken.

NO MORE EXCUSES! The Dems have their filibuster proof majority that they've been crying for, something the GOP never whined about by the way, so now they should be able to implement whatever legislation they want. NO MORE EXCUSES!

Wasn't she?
I bet that's such a HUGE weight off her shoulders.

He looks like he has two perfectly good legs.

Why is he riding on that poor thin woman's shoulders?

He does look like he would be a huge weight for her though.

I remember awhile back there was a donation drive where people pledged money for every day Coleman didn't concede.

Now that he has, what's the final report on that?

God, how cool it is to write that! It took long enough, but he's in, and I don't doubt he's going to do a great job. Now, lets get rid of fake Democrats like Ben Nelson and Max Baucus . I think I'll go search youtube for that clip of Franken slapping Billo around at that book festival - just to celebrate.

Franken's a class act. I liked what he said about not being the 60th Democrat in the Senate but the 2nd Senator from MN.

My Senator, "Ben Nelson" acts like a Republican, even though he's a Democrat. Senator Al Franken, why couldn't you be from Nebraska? Congrats Al.

Dear Abby,

Now all we need is another 30 or so votes in the Senate! Actually, better make that 35, just to be safe. THEN we can get health care reform! Maybe.

Isn't Cornyn going to try to filibuster Al?

Harry Reid is calling Cornyn right now to make sure he doesn't want to do it; and Ben Nelson says he isn't ruling out the filibuster of Senator Franken.

I was extremely enthusiastic about Obama *and* Franken.

After a few months of Obama's shenanigans, I'm feeling pretty cynical about Obama. So having Franken finally come in -- a man I can still accuse of being idealistic and honoracle -- is pretty sweet.

Go Al! Fight the power! Kick Obama's butt!

Remember Al ... back in 2004 when you refused to discuss the election fraud that took place ... remember when you said those of us that complain were just sore losers? ... remember? .... Pretty sweet all this happen ... like how do you said it ... poetic justice?
Good luck senator. I'm looking forward to see who you are really for.
