Pawlenty: No evidence of wrongdoing in MN election
By David Monday Nov 17, 2008 2:02pm
Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty told Fox's Chris Wallace that there was no truth to the rumor that ballots were found in the trunk of an election officials car. The Minnesota Governor said that he knew of no suspicious activity in the tight race between Sen. Norm Coleman and Al Franken. "As of this moment we know of no actual evidence of wrongdoing or fraud in the process," Said Pawlenty.
Earlier this week, Pawlenty told Fox's Megyn Kelly that he found suspicion in the story of the found ballots. Pawlenty said, "There has not been a good explanation for that, Kelly. That's a very good question, but they've been included in the count pile which is concerning."
Coleman's lawyer Fritz Knack had originally pushed the story of the found ballots. David Brauer of the Minnesota Post debunked the idea of ballot tampering. Nevertheless, pundits and reporters have continued to cite the story.
Sen. Coleman currently has a slim lead over Franken and a recount is expected.
John Amato:
The right wingers and the RNC are trying to push the meme that Democrats are trying to steal the election, They are watering the seeds that they have planted to try and turn public opinion against Franken. You can expect all kinds of stunts by Coleman's team.
Franken should know what to expect since he covered so much of the shenanigan's that went on in Florida, back in 2000. There's no reason why they should get "played" by Coleman or the RNC

the media will not spread the truth of this.
Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Franken was one of the guys who flatly refused to even acknowledge election abnormalities surrounding the Bush "victories".
Too many Democrats are scared of the issues that will come back to haunt them in the future. Anthrax included. Domestic Terrorists. Election Fraud. Treason. Etc. Hopefully this toughens up Mr. Franken a little bit.
I am sad to have to say that Al Franken is getting his own KARMA here. He refused to report on election fraud on his show, preferring to pretend he is above all that, and now he's paying. In spades.
I agree with the thread that election fraud in '04 in particular was a discussion topic that Franken stomped on in his show.
But Franken has reason not to be too concerned in his case. He said on one of the radio shows the other day that Minnesota isn't Florida in many ways: no hanging chads, the paper ballots exist, ballot _intent_ is the binding legal criterion, the secretary of state is a democrat and the state doesn't have a significant history of fraud.
I was never a person who gave Franken good odds so I'm not surprised. I didn't see him clicking outside the Minneapolis/St. Paul beltway. I think it was the economic collapse that got him this close. And, in the last month, a rally with Hillary one week, a rally with Bill the following week, another rally with Hillary the week after that and a rally with Senator Klobuchar the last week. Whole _lot_ of money pumped into that campaign.
If Franken wins, the rightwing will still use this discredited story to claim he "stole" the election from Coleman. It doesn't matter that it's false. This is Rove Tactic No. 43b. Circulate a false story by enough people enough times and it appears to become true and can be used to your advantage.
..Goebbels had the patent on that tactic first.
And they work. Boogie Man the Lee Atwater story shows exactly how these people could give a fuck less about the truth or decency or morality or anything of that nature. And we are allowing them to win and to get away with this shit as the Constitution and American Economy are going to hell. When do you think enough people are going to stand up and say enough. You don't let the past go by unpunished unless you want to deal with the same crimes in the future. Al Franken, The Democratic Party, and the American Public need to learn this and confront and prosecute the crimes of these bastards. Thanks for keeping a vigilant look over the issues important to America. Peace.
Okay - after your face lift I could only get half your videos anymore.
But now - starting about two days - ago when I would attempt to download the Win video option (as for this article) -- your site takes me to a new - different - page which won't load.
So I can no longer load the Win video and I get taken to a page that doesn't load.
What's up with all of that?

The ONLY Reason Norm Coleman Has Kept it Close
Distraction to the important issues at hand. A few posts here and there to spread the truth of your blog never hurts but every god damn day every god damn post gets old and in the way. A little humor here and there to lighten the load is appreciated, but this shit is over rated and over saturated. Give us a break and add something of value to the conversation or get the hell out of the way. Sorry.
Wow this Coleman character really is something. Pulls negative ads after damage is done, sues Franken(??) for his wife taking money in his stead, tries to snuff out 32 legitimate votes. After the election he may face a trial. What's up Minnesota? Afraid Alaska is getting too much press ala Stevens? Democrats, couldn't you put a little more effort in what was a nail biter all the way through and is ending up the closest election in the country? If he wins it will be a serious blunder (maybe a 8) in an otherwise "game changing" election.
the pathetic thing is, the Republican party kept running nasty ads even after Norm suspended his negative ad baloney.
Bite me regarding your stings about MN. Franken was considerably behind in the polls for a VERY long time (even on the Iron Range, a Democratic stronghold in MN) and only in the past few months had he started giving Norm a run for his money. You can thank the good people working tirelessly for the DFL to make it this close.
Funny thing is that Albert Franken was one of those "pussy" democrats who didn't want to deal with the evidence of election fraud while at Air America etc. Serves him right. Hopefully he'll now learn the importance of digging into the issues no one wants to deal with. And there's a lot more too.
he owes the people of minnesota and his sec of state an apology
oh, and who wants to bet me that hannity is gonna continue the story of the ballots found in the trunk, even though its bs
i dont want the fairness doctrine to return, but i want that lying asshole removed from the airwaves
The fairnes doctrine MUST be returned! We cannot compete with the handful of multi multi mega gagillionaires who have monopolized the airwaves; telling us about the librul' media all day. I am sick of this Orwellean bullshit from the wingnuts.
Maybe I'm being optimistic here, but perhaps Pawlenty has seen the light and is trying to clean up his party's act a little. As of late he has made some statements that gave me that impression.
Coleman, Pawlenty...if they're a registered Republican, you can count on them being a compulsive liar.
that's a dumb generalization.
Actually, there's no love lost between Pawlenty and Coleman. Pawlenty was going to run for the senate when Cheney called him and told him to back out because Coleman was their guy. Pawlenty is conservative, but a genuine conservative. One of his goals is to wipe out homelessness in Minnesota. He's smart, too.
yea, and Norm has been bleating that Al should be conceding defeat, never MIND the fact that the recount is MANDATORY and al has no control over that.
also, norm would be crying crocodile tears if he was in the position that Al was in. He knows it, that scummy bastard.
Wow, Proof that all the Reslugs in Minnesota are crooked too.
If guys like this and Charlie Criss, gov of Florida, there might be hope for the Republican Party after-all. That's if they don't get kicked out of the party for being honest.
