The Republican congressman who shouted "You lie!" during President Barack Obama's address to a joint session of Congress told Fox News' Chris Wallace that he won't apologize again. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has expressed support for a "resolution of disapproval" if Rep. Joe Wilson refuses to apologize to his colleagues in the House.

"I've apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, by the vice president who I know. I am not apologizing again," said Wilson.

Give him a break! You'd do the same if the health care industry gave you a HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

I know they love their bribes, but this asshole is nothing but a hypocrite. At least Wallace made him address his questions.

Of course if the House rebukes him publically, IT'S POLITICS.

But his outburst, which was a violation of House etiquette, WAS NOT.

And it was a ONE TIME incident. OK, so let's say I go out and rob a Starbucks today. Should I expect to escape punishment because it's a one time incident?

Wilson shot himself in the foot. He has no one else to blame but himself. Let's hope the people of SC find a better replacement. The country needs better people than this.

I was being facetious. Of course he owes more than two people an apology....

How does one get the name Joe, if your name is Addison Graves Wilson?

in honor of the late Senator Joe McCarthy

Joe the "Plumber"

i certainly would. thanks mom and dad for a great name, not!

Both the GOP and DLC Dems got him to apologize on the floor of the house with his tail firmly between his legs - for saying on the floor what most of us here were thinking about the 'wars'. Bush wasn't even there. Remember what Stark said: "Republicans sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq. Where are you going to get that money? Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today? Is that how you're going to fund the war? You don't have money to fund the war or children. But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement."

But he did apologize already. Stop feeding the distraction, Madame Speaker, you have a real job to do.

They have procedural rules in Congress for a reason. If we're not going to enforce them, why have them in the first place?

Move on. This asshole has received far more than his allotment of air time. It is distracting from the issue at hand.

can we now please vow not to write another sentence about him? Let's only give positive press to his Dem challenger! Otherwise everyone will only remember this ass and not, er, what's his name... Oh! Rob Miller.

apologize again for being rude? apologize again for being disrespectful? apologize again for showing the world his unrestrained anger and ignorance?

who cares?

now, those that take money from health-profiteers and craft legislation in order to protect them are the ones that owe the country an apology--much, much more than this rude thumbdick. [not just in health reform legislation, but in finance, media, foreign policy, etc.)

wasting time focusing on this asshole only serves the interests of the health-profiteers who would rather the electorate be distracted by lapses in formal niceties than the systemic corruption of the legislative process.

What a fucking dick this guy is. Next they'll want him in '12.

1. A stupid or silly person; a dolt.
2. A person whose mental acumen is well below par.
3. A person of moderate to severe mental retardation having a mental age of from three to seven years and generally being capable of some degree of communication and performance of simple tasks under supervision.

"I would have said it differently if I had had time."

What did he expect Obama to do? "I yield to the gentlemen from South Carolina who interrupted my speech."?

Message to other congress critters "Keep yellin for change. It works!"

This is the republican attitude that can actually be admired. The democrats apologize too much

Sounds like the 2012 campaign slogan for the Democrats:
"We're Sorry"

)O(

joe wilson's new campaign song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eilpAtXrACU

Previous posters have pointed out how tiny this incident really is; a pox on Pelosi for reacting and wasting time on this distraction.

)O(

Actually it illustrates that despite their complaints of the president's lack of bipartisanship, they're the obstruction.

And without censure, it may become part of the custom and usage of the Congress.

when, has Pelosi given us any reason to expect better of her?

... it is the fault of the Speaker of the House this asshole said and acted like he did?

Randian indeed....

from her recent lobbyist fundraisers.

Now he gets to be a strong vocal opponent - hell, they've already caved on the thing he was screaming about.

Jesus, this administration needs to get it's spine back - and this clown would have been the perfect guy to draw a line with.

http://marmel.com/2009/09/joe-wilson-apologiz...

I walk up and punch him in the face. I apologize to him minutes later and try to sound all sincere, then go out with my buddies and laugh about how awesome it was I punched him in the face.

Saying you're sorry doesn't make you sorry. This moron posted a video saying he's not going to be made to feel bad for doing what he did. Considering that, A) He was wrong and Obama was right and B) he voted to PAY FOR HEALTH CARE FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS when Bush put it there, can we just let FOX coddle his butt for his gratification and the rest of the media actually point out how this guy is either insane or very stupid... or just downright, borderline, evil.

This whole health care debate is proving that news is failing this country. Balance is reported as truth and when both sides are put on TV and the "journalists" leaves it at that and lets viewers choose who they want to agree with (despite which side might be lying), we get the nonsense that we're getting now.

"Journalist": What color is the sky?

Democratic Strategist: The sky is blue.

Republican Strategist: The sky is clearly pink and purple!

DS: I'm looking at it right now and it's bl...

RS: Blue!? Are you insane? Are you some sort of blue sky loving communist fascist? This is the type of crap we should expect from your side?

"Journalist": Alright we'll have to leave it there. Thanks for joining us guys.

)O(

You seem to be describing the process of repentance.

People look at Catholics with their Confessions and Hail Marias, and say it's basically a getting out of jail free card.

Too many Protestants take their Sola Fide/Sola Scriptura/Sola Gratia as far as to say ad nauseam, "We're not perfect, just forgiven."

Most theologians will say you only get forgiveness if you're truly sorry for what you did, the question remaining if the rite of Confession is sacramental or superfluous.

add to that ideally honest and humble contrition the awareness that you will not repeat that particular error again?!

I loves me the hypocrisy that pervades our species' puerile grasping at our spiritual natures...

)O(

That falls under the truly sorry category, otherwise your only sorry you got caught.

As for our spiritual nature that's debatable, since one can't prove the existence of a spirit.

Joe Campbell--after years of studying a multitude of our species' manifest mythologies most often called religions--found two commonalities:

--the belief in a Creative Force in our universe.

and

--the belief in a "soul" or spiritual component within each of us.

Sure, it's debatable. But, some of us find such debates pointless...eg, why debate something that 'doesn't exist'?

)O(

Philosophers do it all the time.

That's why I often think of philosophy as a form of mental onanism.

The universality has much to do with the dream state where one is active despite the body being at rest, as well as the cerebral mind being aware of it's limbic components.

"I believe in the truth, and what I heard was not true".

Except it WAS true, and demonstrably so. Wilson just called the President a liar AGAIN. I think he needs to apologize AGAIN for this accusation.

)O(

He hasn't apologized to the institution nor to the American public.

What ever happened to writing an op-ed?

His outburst was as pathetic as those losers who flash peace signs, or make faces, or hold signs with scriptural references in the background of a televised news coverage.

And as for those ass holes holding signs saying "What Bill?" that was their job so their j'accuse was misdirected.

You mean flashing a "victory" sign?

)O(

Vietnam war era, or those who don't know what it means.

I always understood the Victory symbol as Winston Churchill used it was with the back of the hand outward.

And perhaps even Vietnam war protesters were using it to imply victory for their side.

)O(

I just googled it, Winston Churchill used both sides of his hands on occasion.

Clearly, this man is not a Christian or he would have learned a thing or two about humility. Naw, he's too much in love with the sound of his own voice.

With that in mind, the only suitable punishment is to prevent him from speaking anywhere or addressing anyone inside government buildings. Let him stand on the street with the rest of the tin-foil hat crowd.

don't let him in Heaven! I don't want him taking up space reserved for me.

)O(

I wanna go to Kenny McCormick's heaven.

That would presuppose that this man is ethical, compassionate, mature, spiritually growthful, and all kinds of other things that clearly he's not.

isn't this asshole's refusal to apologize to his colleagues for his disrespectful outburst. It's the Obama camps mystifying refusal to confront - head on - those who hate him and want to destroy him. Frank Rich talks about it in today's NYT op-ed, and he's right.

it's a classic Catch-22 situation.

How would you address Wilson's behavior? How would you confront the 400% increase in threats against your life? How do We The People excise this deadly cancer that derives its lifeblood from the vile Corporate Megalomaniacs whose raison d'être is limitless wealth and power?!

would be to cut off the main lifeline giving constant, unending misinformation and vitriol filled messages - fox news.

fox news starts megaphoning a message, ie - glenn beck's rants against Van Jones, and viola! - suddenly the msm is headlining "President's adviser under fire" and we all know how that turned out. That's just one small, small example.

Cut off fox news and you've cut off most of the effective, repetitious brainwashing that takes place 24/7.

And how do we do that? That's right, we contact the companies below via their websites and tell them we are boycotting them because they support racist hate speech by advertising on Fox News!

about you, but that's mostly stuff that old, decrepit people use. I don't use any of these things to boycott them.

Isn't the outburst a violation of his post REQUIRING a formal apology in front of house and senate? "Breach of etiquette" or something? Nice to know that the republican party is devolving into a group of angry six year olds.

)O(

wilson's mug looks like he tried to shove a particularly tart lemon up his own ass.

imagine that...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has expressed support for a "resolution of disapproval"

that would surprise me... as with most anything that would punish bad behavior, i'd expect that "apology" is "off the table"...

I'm not all that concerned about the outburst, even. Our 43rd President could have used a lot more of it. It's the fact that his assertions are demonstrably false, and he continues to pretend that they're not, and people are exploiting his known lies to screw over Americans.

He looked like he was gonna cry after he called the white house.

my congressman from illinois 19 staged his own bit of theater that night, but it hasn't caught the attention i'm sure he hoped for...

could be because he waited till the last minutes... and joe the heckler already stole the show...

Shimkus walked on Obama: 'Frustrated'

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/bl...

no dem running against him at this time...
looks like some are thinking about that...

Bernard Schoenburg: Shimkus' walkout could fire up Dems

http://www.sj-r.com/opinions/x1420197740/Bern...

... Shimkus’ action also generated a reaction from the fledgling campaign of a Democrat who has taken on Shimkus before — TIM BAGWELL.

Bagwell, an information technology consultant who lives on a family farm near Olney, ran against Shimkus in 2004. About two weeks ago, he started circulating petitions to do so again. ...

does ACT BLUE get ahold of candidates? or the other way?

“His walking out did accelerate our paperwork,” Bagwell said. Bagwell’s campaign — officially still exploratory — hustled to get an active fundraising account through ActBlue.com, a Democratic organization that raises money through its Web site for Democrats across the country.

once again we have another poor republican victim. and i ma sure he wants to keep this attantion going so he can pad the pockets with cash from wingnut support groups.

Does this remind anybody of the time when Cheney shot the judge in the face, and the judge issued a public apology?

Didn't the Democrats do something really similar by placing the enforcement measures in the bill?

How many reform acts have proclamations, laws or whatever without any enforcement measures? Quite a few. remember it isn't the first time we've "reformed" the banking industry.

Right. He so eagar to tell us how civil he is, but will not formally apologize on the House floor for being uncivil. Typical brain-dead, hate-filled, ignorant conservative Republican piece of living shit.

and it was a speech for me and my fellow Americans, loser. It was not a speech for a grandstanding load of bollocks, like you.

....with what many of you are saying. He's an asshole; he already apologized; let's move on.

But why must progressives ALWAYS take the 'high road'? It's simply not the way the 'game' is played. You and I both know that had this been a democrat that called GW a liar, he/she would have been labeled UN-American; a traitor; a poster child for everything that's wrong with the Democratic party; and ultimately would have been forced to apologize profusely to every Republican in Congress and promise to never let it happen again. That's the way Republicans play the game and they are quite successful at it..........

Why not string this out and play it for all its' worth; bring it up in every interview and debate; make HIM the poster child for everything that's wrong with Republicans? I know it's petty and childish, but unfortunately its' how the game is played (and I realize this is no game; you know what I mean).

how these repugs always turn to FOX News for a cupcake love-fest whenever they get into trouble? Imagine if Al Franken were sitting there and called George Bush a liar? They would have run Al out of there so fast.....

will they have the stones to follow through? Probably not.

)O(

So is the moral of the story of Daedalus not to get to close to the sun or to his son?

should issue a joint apology for the way they've behaved since Obama was elected.During the speech with numb nuts yelling "liar" the rest of the Pugs in attendance looked like a gang of "ne'er do wells" -like thugs from a bad 50's flick-slouching in their chairs with that belligerent willful lack of attention that Brando might affect.
What're you rebelling against, Johnny?
Whaddya got?

Um..how about decent Health Care?
It's embarrassing.

apologize for using forged documents and illegal domestic propaganda to take the nations armed forces into a war of aggression. And then resign.

He has received way too much publicity for his asshattery than is warranted for someone as ridiculous as he.

How much time have we (the royal we) spent talking about this douche instead of Obama's speech? Once again, the wingnuts have hijacked the conversation.

... we can pay attention to Obama's speech, and make this asshole accountable.

The eagerness of some of the so called liberals in this country to "move on" is the main reason why this vermin have taken over the political discourse for the better part of the past 3 decades.

I have seen ostriches put a better fight than whatever it is that passes for liberals in this country.

because the majority of the news is about the "You lie" outburst and not about Obama's speech.

No prob, congressman. You can apologize to God, right before he/she pulls the lever and sends you someplace very warm.

)O(

Texas?

He;s an America hating neo-confederate. Why would such a person apologize for insulting the President of the United States? I'd say there's no doubt that he's quite pleased with his asshole self.

I believe that it is prohibited in the house for any member to call anyone else in the room "a liar" among other things.

Technically this asshole could be seriously reprimanded for that, and he should.

The problem: You’re Rep. Joe Wilson, and you haven’t really done anything for anyone since you were elected. Everybody has pretty much forgotten about you. The only time you ever got attention is when you said something dumb and insane.. making yourself look like an @ss.

What is going to be written about you when you die?
He is the tool that yelled lie to the President..The hypocrisy was absurd. ...what a jerk!!!

Of course the scumbag has apologized privately to whomever, but as an American, I want a public apology on the floor of the House. Our Comgress people represent US, not Obama. So, yeah, I WANT A PUBLIC APOLOGY-----otherwise we may as well expect teabagger behavior "in the hollowed halls of Congress" frrom now on!

show!
I didn't listen to this one either but I didn't have to to know that mr wilson said a lot of insane things. You can see by looking into his eyes he is batshit crazy. Plus he is on fox so that in itself says propaganda.
These people have gone off the deep end. I don't think there can be any doubt in anyones mind any longer, that republicanism is a mental illness! Do you see the crazy popping up all around you? Can you read the words that are coming off my fingers?
These people are full blown full tilt crazy!

MythBusters experiments prove Joe Wilson's "You lie!" presidential heckle occurred seven years too late.

And Fox Propaganda to cover his lies and make his propaganda moment seem like a genuine emotional outburst?

I won't watch the clip, because I know that NOWHERE will you hear them question why he lied about what was in the bill.

If there were a board on journalism as there is in law, Wallace and EVERY SINGLE FOX "JOURNALIST" would be disbarred.

Granted, President Obama is not his boss. But he is under some very significant rules in the House. He could lose everything but the cardboard box to be used as his new desk (out in the parking lot).

Big deal, he already said his apology was empty and he only did it because he was forced to, I say we don't give him the option to apologize (isn't that what the repugs stand for, restricting your options?) and we just centure his ass.

Maybe that won't even be necessary, let's get Obama and the democratic leadership out there building up Rob Miller to beat Wilson in 2010.

Doesn't anyone really care what the repugs have to say anymore, they haven't had a new idea or a coherent thought in a long, long time. We now need a true left party to stand up to the democrats and just sweep the repugs out of the house and senate all together.

UGH

What the F is wrong with these Republicans. I dispise these dirtbags. And the brainless followers are even worse.

It has to be some sort of alien conspiracy these wackos...they cant be for real...they just can't!

I had one Dumbass in law of mine blame Obama for the economy...EIGHT days after Obama took office. Yes, 8 days into the Obama Presidency he looked straight to my face and said "The Economy is in the Dumps because of Obama"

F'in Brainwashed by Limbaugh and Cia. Morons.

Okay, if he thinks the President is lying, he certainly has the right to say so (even if he's wrong - and damn the torpedoes!). But it's not like Congress was in session for debate or a vote, or whatever; it had been convened specifically for the President's speech.

There's a time and place for everything, and a Special Joint Session of Congress for a Presidential Address is neither. In short, Wilson was an asshole. He deserves all the ridicule he gets, as well as all the stress and disappointment he's likely to meet in 2010.

At least one news source reports that Shouting Joe is a Colonel in the South Carolina National Guard. There are physical fitness standards that include maximum weight (based on gender, height and age) and ability to pass a physical fitness test. Look at how fat he is. There is no way he can pass the weight standards in AR (Army Regulation) 600-9 and it is highly unlikely he could pass a fairly administered physcial fitness test. Someone should demand an Inspector General (IG) investigation about this.

He made his choice. He could choose between the stance that Obama is telling the truth and the alternative stance that Hannity/Limbaugh/Beck are telling the truth. This is, I think, the key to the whole thing. The American people are choosing to believe who is/are telling the truth. With no evidence other than gut feeling, the radical right has chosen to believe Hannity/Limbaugh/Beck. Therefore, Obama must be lying. Not the choice I would make.

Hey Joe Wilson I wish you would have said "you lie" when Bush was lying about WMD...Hey Joe alot of brave service men & women needed to hear you then.
