Obama slams GOP pledge as 'irresponsible'
President Barack Obama isn't impressed by a Republican manifesto that promises to cut the size of government if they take over Congress. Appearing on the Today Show, Obama said the Republican "Pledge to America" was irresponsible.
President Barack Obama is responding to the GOP's so-called "pledge to America," saying the newly unveiled 21-page document is nothing more than a continuation of "irresponsible policies."
"What I'm seeing out of the Republican leadership over the last several years has been a set of policies that are just irresponsible. And we saw in their 'Pledge to America' a similar set of irresponsible policies," he told NBC's Matt Lauer Monday morning.
"They propose $4 trillion worth of tax cuts and $16 billion in spending cuts and they say we're going to somehow magically balance the budget, the president continued. "That's not a serious approach. So the question for voters over the next five weeks is who is putting forward policies that have a chance to move our country forward."
Obama's remarks come just days after House Minority Leader and other Republican leaders announced the document called "A Pledge to America."

The President also said this morning regarding education that he felt kids should be spending more time in school. Tonight Beck said the President wants kids to spend more time in school so they can be indoctrinated with his ideas and spend less time with their parents. I mean seriously, you can't make this stuff up.
Of course the pledge or promise or whatever is irresponsible, it's from the republicans isn't it. Stopping the tax cuts for the wealthy would cover about a third of the debt but the republicans can't do that. They can however cut social programs that so many needy people depend on without even batting an eye.

freeze spending at 2008 levels by firing tens of thousands of federal employees and force the states and local governments to fire thousands of their employees. This is to save $30 billion per year. They also promise to make the Bush Tax cuts which would cost about $300 Billion per year. So they would drive up the deficit by an additional $300 billion a year. Pretty responsible of them. So is sum they promise greater unemployment and greater deficits. And they expect people to vote for them. And strange thing is that there are people who will.

and it is not just the republicans, the democrats are in the same bubble, a frickin' fantasy world. we can't keep spending money we don't have, or running a trade deficit every year.
why does this keep happening? because our country is controlled by monopoly capitalists, artificial entities trading in "synthetic financial instruments", our democratic controlled congress did not do away with this kind of garbage, why not? because they are bought and sold that is why.
so what we are talking about here is levels of irresponsibility, and yes the right is definitely worse, but don't take that to mean the democrats have their shit packed in a bag, they don't.
it is time to get wize, either that or crash and burn, i personally believe it will be the latter; and in a perverse way, i will be glad to see it happen, at least then there will be a chance for this country to learn, we aren't at this point.
