Obama: 24-hour news cycle fueling anger
President Barack Obama told CBS News' Bob Schieffer that "the 24-hour news cycle and cable television and blogs" focus on the most extreme elements which fuels angry protests.
"They can't get enough of conflict. It's cat nip to the media right now. The easiest way to get 15 minutes of fame is to be rude to somebody. In that environment, I think it makes it more difficult for us to solve the problems that the American people want us to solve," said Obama.

in Carter's words, the media would run with "Obama says his dissenters are racists" and this would fuel the right-wing extremists. The 24 hour news cycle would make it a race thing. Hell, people like Bob Scheiffer, who I've never liked, also contribute to this "mad" element of the discourse (so who's he pointing fingers at?).
Clearly we are not in a post-racial society. We never had the tough conversations about power or race relations. For one, the media personalities, the news-actors, are too stupid and prejudiced themselves to do anything constructive.
To hear him dismiss Carter, though.... that just seems wrong.
