NYPD Officer: 'Nightstick Is Going to Get a Workout -- Hopefully'

A New York Police officer was caught on video Wednesday night telling a female officer that he was looking forward to using his nightstick later that evening.
"My little nightstick is going to get a workout tonight -- hopefully," he said. To make his point, the officer struck the ground with what appeared to be a baton.
That same night, local media filmed police using batons and pepper spray during the arrest of about 28 people involved in the Occupy Wall Street protests.

That officer certainly does give the impression that his nightstick is little.
..remember when the cops beat the shit out of Tea Party protesters for brandishing guns in public, engaging hate speech & making overt threats to assassinate president Obama?

I don't either.
One thing the Tea Party has taught us about American policemen is that if you act like an unhinged asshole at a right wing protest, there is no threat of police intervention.
But if you engage in a protest from the left, dipshit policemen will become unhinged & spray pepper spray in your eyes, lead you to the middle of bridges where it is easier to arrest you, & beat the living fuck out of you with a billy club just for the hell of it.
When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in excess body fat & carrying a misspelled sign.
Most policemen/women are average people with average intelligence. That ignorant policeman's comments are indicative of how dangerous it is to give a barely high school educated simpleton sweeping legal authority.
I'm old enough to remember a time when those so dedicated to serving and protecting acquired a modicum of humility and respect when their prior victims adopted an "off the pigs" option to protesting for rights and justice. Keep it up flatfoot and civil disobedience may get really serious! Remember, all the nuts ain't on the right!
Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
At some point the ones who protect the Wall Street Bankers and the 1% must decide if they are with the people or wear the boot that keeps the people down! They can't have it both ways. Logically, 1% of the population can not hold down 99% of the population without a lot of help from a substantial portion of the 99% (about 20% give or take). The Police, Military, Law Enforcement (FBI, CIA, NSA, ICE, Homeland Security...) both local and federal at some point will have to chose sides.
