Kyl doubts people die from lack of health insurance. You see what I'm talking about?
It looks like David Gregory is reading C&L and many other blogs because I've been saying that for the cost of the wars, America would have health care bought and paid for. David Gregory finally asked a Republican the same question. This clip also shows that republicans are living in a land far, far from reality if they actually go on TV and say Americans aren't dying because they have no health care.
David writes: Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) told NBC's David Gregory that the war in Afghanistan is a "necessity" but health care reform is not as important.
"And is it a necessity to tackle the fact that there are more and more Americans who die because they don't have access to health insurance?" asked Gregory.
Kyl disagreed with the premise of the question. "I'm not sure that it's a fact that more and more people die because they don't have health insurance. But because they don't have health insurance, the care is not delivered in the best and most efficient way," said Kyl.
Talking Points Memo notes that it is indeed a fact that Americans die from a lack of health insurance.
I imagine Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) -- of "Republicans want you to die quickly" fame -- might have a field day with this one.
And for the record, a highly-publicized Harvard study released last month said that 45,000 deaths are linked to lack of health insurance coverage each year -- and that uninsured, working-age Americans have a 40 percent higher death risk than their privately-insured counterparts.
It would have been nice if Gregory followed up and asked Kyl to back up why he thinks Americans aren't dying over health care. That's what he does week after week. Show quotes and news reports to back up his questions, but to just let Kyl ignore the premise of the question is ridiculous. Gregory knows thousands are dying every month. It's not a secret or some super duper liberal code word. And the country shouldn't be spending blood and treasure on the two Bush wars like it is and the country knows it too.
But I don't want to focus on Gregory too much because at least he asked the question. Sen. Kyl is either a stone cold liar or really is that ignorant.
(David helped me with this post)

I came within an inch of dying in 2007 because I did not have insurance. Kyl is a f**king liar.
I'm glad my own very real preexisting condition has not acted up in the past 10 years, because I'd be dead any number of times over with my lack of health insurance.
The progressive democrats were only s...ing on us also by stating they have 60 or more to make sure there was a strong public option ... Now they claim there is not enough votes to make sure there is at least a public option in the health bill..
Like always the democrats jump and shout about what they will do for us ,, then at the very last minute they leap to the other side,, and say we tried..
They arrogantly are stating ,,, They know we will not vote for a republican no matter what they do...

Most Americans could not stand Bush , Cheney or the republicans policies.. But now that Emanuel has Obama ,, either on his own or with Emanuel constant pushing ,,, is walking in the same d... foot steps Bush and Cheney made for 8 years.

When I now look upon Obama not fighting back against the criticism thrown at him on his campaign trail , it seems as if he just never had any fight in him.
Our democrat party has become a left wing of the right wing republican party and growing stronger every election.
We know the democratic party has turn toward the republicans because they place have placed them on the committees while bypassing any progressive from joining in...
By the way ,,, why are some of our so called progressive democrats voting for a corporate lobbyist health written bill without a single payer or a very strong public option??
The BS that it is would cost us more for a public option is just that. We are the ones paying the bill anyway and with a public option it will cost US less money all around ,,no matter how you look at it..

The C&L people have to be masochists. I wouldn't even watch the clip.
It's Sunday morning, so it's time to deceive the few remaining people who believe that they can become informed about current events by watching cable news.
We need accurate information. So naturally, instead of having an actual expert, like one of the researchers on the Harvard study, Gregory has on, surprise, another GOP senator.
Kyl get so much air time to lie: (1) no one dies for lack of health insurance; (2) tort reform is the answer to cost containment, etc., etc.

Let's not forget (3) Let people shop across state lines. That way all the health insurance companies can move to the state with the weakest regulations. A bidding war among states to get those companies to move there would ensue.
I love that "we need more competition" Newspeak. Double plus good.

How I wish somebody would point out that simple fact to Mr Kyl.
I'd love to see Alan Grayson take him on.
Kyl's fellow country club Republican friends don't die for lack of healt care I'm sure. Kyl himself as well as his fellow Republican congressfolk have a taxpayer funned guvment run plan similar to the one they want to deny to the rest of us who are paying for their plan, so thy're not likely drop dead from lack of coverage either.
Kyl is referring to the popular Republic theme that as long as there are Emergency Rooms, "no one is without medical care". That's why he followed it up with "maybe not the most efficient way" of delivering healthcare.
What these soulless creeps don't get is that ER's are not free. They WILL try to charge you after the fact and bankrupt you to get their money. So many people put off going to the doctor or avoid going altogether... often with fatal consequences.
And, of course, ER's don't treat "chronic" illness. You can't go to the ER for chemo, and if you cut off a finger but have no insurance, the ER won't "reattach" your finger, they'll just sew you up so you don't bleed to death and toss the finger in the trash.
There really is a special place in hell for these SOB's.

I posted a comment earlier that I almost died in 2007 because I did not have health insurance. At the time I believe I had pneumonia, but can not be sure because I was not able to see a doctor. I even tried a free clinic, but was turned away (I could not prove I was indigent). I called Stroger Hospital in Chicago (it replaced the old Cook County Hospital). The told me I would be billed for ER. I decided I was better off dying than falling deep in debt. I was out of work at the time and all employers who interviewed me did a credit check. I was feeling hopeless. I was sick almost 2 months. I got so weak at point I had to lay in my own vomit because I was to weak to get up. I would lose conscientiousness while gasping for air while in coughing fits. By some miracle I recovered. My overall health has never been the same since.
I know I am not the only person who has been in this position. How many die in that way. There are some who will say I made the decision not to go to ER. There is a swine flu epidemic going around now. I am working and insured now, but how many will die because of the fear of financial ruin?

How about
THE PEOPLE THAT ATTACKED US ON 9/11 WERE ALL SAUDI NATIONALS.
Using the logic of that republican scum, it's a damn good thing we didn't get attacked by Mexico...because now our troops would be dying in GREENLAND.
By the way, I wonder why David didn't ask him why he voted NO on the Franken bill...oh, that's right...he's one of those "family values" guys.
Ooops...this is the guy who received $2,505,012 from insurance and health care loobyists....
He's not that ignorant. Just another greedy republican pig who ought to be unemployed, IMHO.
Republicans are rapture right Christian nutcases- and at it's root, the driving forece behind the wars is religion- Radical Christianity and Judaism vs radical Islam (All three religions are bottom of the barrel as far as religious cults )..
So they don't care which Muslims are being killed- there are interchnagible in the eyesof the right wing...
Actually that would be social republicans, there's also: entrepreneurial, Wall Street, Main Street and traditional.
However, the social movement conservatives are either true believers or more likely the manipulator of true believers.
Diabolus est Deus Inversus
Christianity and Islam are sects of Judaism and all three of these hideous cults are steeped in the blood of their victims.
David Gregory is a pu$$y & way out of his depth (of which he has little) on MTP.
It's not all or nothing.
always look to me like an asshole expelling a big juicy fart whenever he talks publicly? Smells like it too! He has no qualms with a war that is probably unwinnable the way that it is currently being waged. He insists that that war be "won" at all costs without any consideration of the ginormous debt it adds to the budget deficit, or require that fighting such a war be deficit neutral. He doesn't give a shit about that and apparently he is incapable of thinking about winning the "war on terrorism" in any new way free of the limits of the old-line way of thinking that might is right even if it is taking place halfway around the world where all the forces in that country are against our very valiant attempt to do what there I don't know. And he opposes health care reform that is budget neutral??? As an american, I personally don't give a shit if we rack up a huge deficit while achieving universal health care if that is what we have to do to do so. It would be worth it. It would be a tangible goal, not something amorphous like "victory in Afghanistan" whatever that might be. I have a feeling that in the case of Afghanistan, it's going to be a repeat of it's previous history as an empire killer. In this case, the empire will be the USA. But, we can do something very real, something that will have a hugely positive affect on the health of the entire country and at a cost that will be minimal compared to the costs of a war that is theoretical and that is probably unwinnable. Kyl sees things in a very old-fashion and narrow way. He represents an older generation that looks at things in a very prejudiced and limited way. It's tempered with a rationale that no longer fits or makes sense in the world today. He is fighting to defeat true health care reform. He is fighting against doing something that would help the economy recover by containing the costs of health care that are spiraling out of control at this point. As long as he continues to oppose health care reform, he will continue to support the destructive status quo path that this country is on. And at what cost? Some thinking is just plain foolish. Senator Kyl of Arizona embodies this perfectly.
And Kyl is "not so sure that people are dying for lack of health care"... All he has to do to know that it's true is to do a little bit of reading. The research has already been done and it confirms that over 44,000 people every year in the US are dying for lack of health care. Kyl has some assinine remark about the inefficiency of the system as being the reason that people are having trouble and does not acknowledge how truly broken and in need of repair the system really is. That's what being republican is all about apparently: saying no, being in denial, not wanting to help people, not wanting to fix problems, not wanting to be part of a solution to problems. Kyl embodies this republican mode with perfection.
You stated my feelings perfectly. I too feel spending on health care is worth a deficit. Spending in Afghanistan is not worth it. I email President Obama regularly and say this to him. Stop the War and spend on the American people, renewable energy, education and ending poverty in this country!
" ... so when we're spending on war and when we're spending on other things we need to have, we don't have to spend as much on health care ..."
There it is, a perfect summation of the republican mindset when it comes to health care.
The health and well being of our citizens is a commodity. If you can afford it, great, if not, oh well.
The health and well being of our business interests are paramount concerns.
peace.
America will never 'win' the war in Iraq or Afganistan, because there has never been a set objective in the first place....
Over 100,000 civilians have been killed-that is far worse than what happened on 9/11.
Republicans want perpetual war because they want America to appear 'strong' and be 'feared' by the rest of the world-
They want the campiagn of killing to continue- as long as the people being killed have brown skin and are not Christians, the rapture right are happy.
NEWSFLASH- The Us has the habit of picking fights with seemingly weaker nations, and ALWAYS loses!!! Pretty sad. Rather than admire America, most Europeans look down on America as a poorly educated war mongering capitalist whore of a nation.
So much for Americans thinking they are superior to everyone!
They are like the school yard bully who pushes everyone around, but is in fact the weakest student in the playground..
...because they feed off the blood of our troops.
The pig 1% ruling class is not waging war to be "tough bullies," they wage war because it means more money.
I say we should give the pigs exactly what they want: more war. Only this time us against them in REVOLUTION! It might be possible to do it with ballots rather than bullets if we act quickly.

1) Doesn't need maternity care, so why should he worry about anybody else needing it.
2) Will not support healthcare reform regardless of any 'concessions' to Repugs.
3) Held up voting on extending unemployment benefits for 'cost evaluation' despite the fact that the bill includes financing by extending a surtax on businesses through June 30, 2011.
4) Seems to be on a personal mission to destroy any remnant of the US Middle Class.

Impletata
Makes 4 servings
4 baby eggplants (about 1 ½ pounds total)
1 ½ cups mititei (see recipe) or other spicy sausage, casing removed
1 tablespoon olive oil (divided)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 shallot, finely chopped (2 tablespoons)
¼ cup tomato sauce or reserved juice from canned tomatoes, from Paprika Chicken recipe above
Salt and pepper to taste
Slice eggplants in half lengthwise. Remove flesh from each half, leaving a lining ¼-inch from skin, to form 8 "boats." Set boats aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Chop eggplant flesh into ¼-inch dice. Set aside.
In skillet, over medium heat, cook sausage, breaking up large pieces. Cook until well browned, about 7 minutes. Remove sausage with slotted spoon. Set aside.
Add 1 teaspoon olive oil to sausage fat. Heat for a few seconds on medium. Add chopped garlic and shallot and sauté for about a minute. Add chopped eggplant, stirring until well coated with fat and oil. Return sausage to skillet and stir well.
Add tomato sauce or reserved juice and cook until eggplant softens and most of the liquid evaporates, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Remove from heat. Season with salt and pepper. Divide sausage mixture evenly among eggplant boats. Place in baking dish. Drizzle boats with remaining olive oil.
Cover lightly with foil.
Bake in preheated oven until heated through, 10 to 15 minutes.

This idiot Kyl says: "Republicans have a lot of good ideas, we have very good ideas to tackle this problem one piece at a time."
Of course he and the rest of the Republicans don't tell you what these ideas are. And I have yet to hear anyone from the GOP talk about health care ideas, other than hoping the President fails.
Clearly, he's no Gump, no Sam, not even Karl in SLING BLADE cuz he's playing it too "'tard" -- like Ben Stiller's TROPIC THUNDER character role was admonished for in the movie. In an era of celebrating simpletons and slow-mindedness, Kyl has overplayed his 'tard and will likely be held accountable for it and dealt an entirely new deck he wasn't betting on.
republicanism/conservatism is a mental illness!
Kyle does not mind to spend whatever it takes to kill people but god damn you if you think we should spend money to save lives?
That only means less for republicans!
If you think for a minute that is not what they think, spend a day and talk to one or two of them. You will see they don't give a shit what happens to you as long as they have there fuck you!
America would have health care bought and paid for?
Nice thought however we did not and still do not have the money to fight the wars either, the wars have been entirely based on deficit spending. Recall Peter Stark's speech? So IF you stopped the wars and traded the expense to healthcare we would still be digging ourselves a hole at a monumental rate.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
it is not only the wars , its having bases in say Japan ( the new admin in Japan wants to kick us out , do it know ) S Korea , and other world wide bases , cut the MIC by at least 75% , HR676 , stop the bail outs of failed WS , tax the living life out of companys who have outsourced US MFG jobs , tax all us corps that offshore bank and have HG to avoid taxes , stop the WOT , WOD , quit giving money to countries that promote war , promote green energy like say geothermal , solar , wind etc. , that would be a wonderful start .

UH Scuse me dipshit.
But $1.2 TRILLION of the deficit came from Obama putting the "off-the-books" WAR expenditures BACK on the books as of January 20, 2009. So THIS $1.4 Trillion dollar deficit is NOT from programs and items obtained this year, if is a COOKING OF THE BOOKS BY BUSH over the last 8 years of BUSH TREASON.
FUCK YOU KYL, AND MAY YOU HANG THE HIGHEST WHEN WE GET AROUND TO HANGING YOU MOTHER-FUCKING TRAITORS.

"DEAR AMY: I was a lifeguard when a drowning occurred on my watch. I found the little boy, gave CPR and tried to save him. I wasn't able to. It's been about a month since the drowning. My mom, a professional counselor, has taken care of me the whole time and has really helped, but I don't think it's enough. I can't sleep, have trouble eating some days, have anxiety attacks and occasionally have suicidal thoughts. I've told my mother none of those things, for many reasons. We have no health insurance to cover a private counselor."
Kyl you are a sock puppet you fucking clown.
Gregory is horrible on Meet the Press. He never asks any tough questions and allows Reslugs to keep lying right to his face, without calling them out on their habitual proven lies.
