Karl Rove criticized President Obama's proposed budget this morning on ABC's This Week. "He's now going to add more debt in the first 20 months and 11 days than was incurred in 2 wars, 9/11 and the previous administration," argued Rove.

John Amato:

Greenberg hit the Conservatives over their failed handling of government which has all Americans suspicious of government as an institution, but that's been their mantra since Reagan.

Greenberg: The Conservatives' unbelievable poor performance and regrettably the last president's handling of government (Rove) has indeed reduced people's confidence to handle problems. You're absolutely right, they are right to do so. But what he's done is changed the rules of the game...

Not intimidated by Rove, Katrina vanden Heuvel shot back,

"It's laughable for you to talk about fiscal responsibility from someone who helped plunge this nation into trillion dollars of debt through tax cuts for the very rich and a war we never should have fought. Starving the beast, starving the government has been a Republican role in terms of government and therefore, when George asks why government hasn't functioned, (it's because) people have not seen the role of government in improving the conditions of their lives in decades."

Being lectured by Karl Rove over the deficit or anything else regarding this country is pretty sickening to witness. With Rove in charge, we've had the Wall Street meltdown as well as the ultimate illustration of what happens when conservatives rule: The response to Hurricane Katrina. Rove rejects Limbaugh's call of socialism as a talking point, but backs that flame-throwing rhetoric with all his heart. He's the master of slimy tactics as his own political record informs us. Rove looked flat and out of his element. Karl isn't as effective without Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity by his side. I wonder why? And George Will's baseball analogies fall flat as usual.

The Bush administration actually counted all their war costs off-budget to mislead people, and Karl Rove (that lying sack of something) knows it. It was probably his idea! Grr.

Booosh kept Rover in clover when he was Tex. Gov. by giving KKKarl a place in the University of Texas endowment. And not just a lackey. He was in a position to do himself good.

will go back and hide at Fox, where no one questions his wingnutty rhetoric. He must need money for his future legal fees, to be venturing so far from home.

Rove needs to crawl backup Hannity's ass and curl up til he's needed.

Don't mix it up with smart people Karl. Some of your loyal followers may actually see you for the single celled POS that you truly are.

For a long time everyone called Rove an "evil genius".

I haven't heard that for a while but every time I did I wanted to hurl.

Rove is anything but a genius. He's nothing more than a POS who is than willing to be evil.

He is one fat and evil jerk. Genius? No so much.

flare in Rove and nearly fell out of my chair laughing..Katrina got him big time!!!!

George Will was smart enough to keep his mouth shut in that segment. He should confine his professorial opinions to baseball and leave the politics to others.

As for Karl, hee must think he still has the leverage to move reporters to the back row in the briefing room when they aren't respectful of him. Dubya was correct - he is "turdblossom."

he should have been screaming about Bush's reckless spending but instead sniffed his ass fumes. Now suddenly he is worried? Piss on Rove.

Arrest that man!

Sorry piggies.

I noticed pig boy Rove with a condescending smirk during the interview. I believe he actually enjoys this, he actually enjoys what he brought to the country. Shouldn't he be arrested under a bench warrant already? HE Doesn't show up for court, man.... I fall 150 dollars behind on my child support and I get a bench warrant and a checking account seizure costing me 750 dollars. This pussy caused killing and the destruction of the current American fabric and values, but he is still allowed to grease up his pig hair and go on Teevee. What the fuck is going on here, Obama too scared to do anything? All the leading democrats worried about getting killed?
[Deleted-Sitemonitor]

was reduced to glaring at Vanden Heuvel at the end of the interview.

I loved how his look changed from smug to furious.

To sucking on lemons.

Shame on ABC for airing Karl(I'm above the law)Rove. What? Not enough unindicted, traitorous right wingers to choose from? They had to go with an indicted one?

I was thinking the same thing. Karl has no credibility on ANYTHING.

Another example of our "liberal" media attempting to be "fair".

I was appalled to see him on the roundtable, and sent ABC an email to say so. They debased themselves to the level of Fox News here.

Love when the Dem's slap down the gay, dough boy.

Boy do I wish these people would be off our tv sets and into prison. Our media and journalism is failing us when the reverse is the case.

It's laughable in itself that Rove needs be answered by Katrina vanden Heuvel.

This just shows how much power this Mafia gang, Bush-cheney-KRove & Co, has over this country's Media.

Its just stupidity that anyone from previous admin has been invited to "Discuss" Fiscal Responsibility !!

That why I do not watch this crap. I feel sorry people like Katrina vanden Heuvel has to deal with it !!

There must be lots going on behind the scene with the MSM producers and actors.
From what i see people everywhere are disgusted with the way the MSM is hosting Bushies and discredited Republicans. The MSM should be aware by now that people are loosing faith in the MSM quickly, and yet they seem unable to do anything else, anything to change.

The same Republican pundits and guests that held a core viewer demographic glued to their sets have become an enemy within. Bringing BushCo to the discussion table now, after all that has happened, is wrong. I'd like to know why it is happening. Bring on the economists, scientists, political scolars! The wicked witch is dead. How long can the MSM pretend it doesn't know that fact. Is there another witch we don't know about?

seeing Rove smacked down by an intelligent woman who knows what she's talking about.

Katrina Vanden Huevel knows the new Math...

Good question. Does the House have the power to arrest him? He should be easy to find.

...

Our police would rather beat on 15 year old black girls and shoot young black men in the back is why.

"Why is Karl Rove not in jail?"

you need some one with courage like Serpico ?? I guess !!

I watched this whole segment and found myself cheering every time Kathrina responded. She nailed that snarky bastard Rove with solid facts and figures. At the end of the session you could almost steam coming out of Rove's ears. Rove apparently isn't used to be contradicted by anyone and didn't like it one bit. Will was a bump on the log, saying nothing.

Rove was being smacked on both sides of his head from Vanden Heuvel and Greenberg. Best TV "talk" show in ages.

Katrina really WANTS to just ask Rove flat out, "Why you are not in jail right now?"

Yes, Amen and Hallelujiah! to Katrina for not letting Rove spew more bullshit.

But WTF is he doing on teevee anyway?!
This lying bastid can't show up and talk to Congress, but he can make time for a Sunday am talk show??

If anyone here has pull with ABC, here's my question:
"How can you, ABC News, in any kind of conscience, allow **any person** who had refused a Congressional subpoena, on your 'newz' shows?!"

It's disrespectful of the people who tried to investigate Rove.
It's disrespectful of the intelligent members of the public (who are, presumably, the same people who view 'This Week').
It's disrespectful of Congress.

The media needs to stop enabling Rove and his minions.
Meanwhile, thank you C&L for highlighting Katrina's sanity and guts.

My feelings exactly.

It about makes me apoplectic to see the roves and limbaughs given LEGITIMACY by the infonews media. There's no question that just having them on, no matter what they say or how they say it, gives them a legitimacy they simply do not have. THey are, plain and simple, propagandists.

Call 'news' outlets and demand they behave as journalists! Some numbers:

ABC: 212-456-7777
CNN: 202-898-7900
NBC: 212-664-4444

You are so right..., It was sweet!
When she stared him down it almost made fall out of my chair.
Best talk show ever! (at least for me)

He doesn't feel the middle class losing their jobs or their homes. He is inside a little bubble of his own making. He isn't affected by the downturn in the economy so he has no way to relate...but he's still fighting for the little guy... the upper 2% who can buy and sell the rest of us.

obama's recovery plan is just that recovery from 8 yrs. of mismanagement/governance of this country. BUSH/(r) congress were authoritarian. they interpreted the constitution their way(addington/yoo) they went after the oil gem iraq. they built an embassy in iraq the size of the vatican. they spent MONEY like crazy: medicare D. when the (D) got the razor thin majority the (r) blocked everything with filibuster/veto/threat to veto/signing statements. they also allowed numerous non-bid companies into iraq. that's doesn't seem like captialism to me. those contracts could have been less money with competitive bids with a quick time frame. this what the (R) does talk bad about government then use it for corporations/businesses/special interests and (run up the tab)blame it all on the liberals.

budget wouldn't look so bad if he had just used Bush's (and Rove's) method and lied by keeping the war costs out and the AMT's in.

It can not rest until Conservatism is vanquished, in it's entirety, from the Earth.

Rove lecturing Democrats about fiscal policy is like...

A-Rod telling kids to say no to drugs?

A Nymphomaniac lecturing about abstinence.

A pyromaniac lecturing about fire safety

....Don't forget to tip your wait staff.......

And I won't quit my day job......

Rove lecturing Democrats about fiscal policy is like...

An Amish Farmer lecturing on computer programming....

Or, more sadly, Ted Tubes Stevens, who actually had some say in the internet's future. He did however disabuse me from thinking the internet was a truck.

Katrina Vanden Huevel took Rove to the wood shed!!! By the end of the show Rove was almost drooling on himself. There was nothing he could say without being smacked down by some far left liberal lesbian bitch (His thoughts, not mine!) It was wonderful.

Thank you for affirmatively responding back to the lies and deception of Karl Rove. Too many of your media comrades never challenge him or people like him and it's well past time some one did. Once goons like Rove figure out that the public is mad as hell and won't take it anymore they may get the message that the gig is up on their manipulative media campaign.

Then we need to get the facts.

If you wonder why we are in the crisis we are in, why your country is no longer recognizable, why individuality and success is now a crime, and why your freedom is under attack, you must watch this video from the 1980s by a KGB agent who explains why and how it all happened.

http://atlas.victimofcapitalism.com/x/vq/24

"Simply because the psychological shock when they will see in [the] future what the beautiful society of EQUALITY and social justice means in practice, obviously they will revolt. They will be very unhappy [and] frustrated people, and Marxist Leninist regime does not tolerate these people. Obviously they will join the [ranks] of dissenters; dissidents."

Her comments in The Nation are always worth attending to.

Rove's another bully. Is NOT smart, per se. Easy prey for KVH in a fair fight.

Rove isn't really that smart. He seems to be cunning, but not that smart.

Ahem, KKKarl, you seem to be completely omitting the $40+ trillion commercial debt that incurred in the last 8 years which is why the need for a $3trillion budget deficit to curb the effects of the Bush Depression.

We GOTTA push that meme.

Off the hook!!!!!!

That KVD wouldn't call him Karl. And that her eyes looked like they were trying to take Karl's heart straight out of his chest ala terminator.

Isn't Rove's broad spectrum of alleged expertise just amazing...economist, statistician, pollster, mathematician, political consultant, climatologist, pundit, journalist, snake-oil salesman, and more... all after dropping-out of community college, wow.

/snark

:o}

Have not Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, Beck, Ingraham et al assumed the same multi-hyphenated titles for themselves?

Have you noticed how some, like Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow interview experts and listen and learn from them, and the above mentioned preach to them? How many times have I seen O'Reilly preach to PhD's and experts in law, law enforcement, economy, medicine, etc.? I lost count the times it happened.

not only dropped out out of community college, but several other colleges as well.

Rush Limbaugh, who dropped out of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Cape is the easiest school in three states, and is laughingly referred to, even by its graduates, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, as "the Harvard of the Midwest". These guys substitute conviction and gut feelings for educating themselves on any subject. Sound familiar? W liked to use gut feelings rather than read up on issues.

Your administration ignored the needs of a vast majority of this country. Your administration threw thousands of military families under the bus, so to speak. Your administration had a dismal performance and that is why we are in the trouble we are in. "Karl" you and your buddies ignored Hurricane Katrina until the world slapped your asses.

Now, "Karl" let me fill you in on health care. People are ignoring their needs because it's too damn expensive. That means that if a woman feels a lump in her breast she doesn't act on it. Do you know what that means for that woman "Karl"? It means that if it's cancer and she doesn't catch it early it could lead to years of living with advance cancer. Why don't you pull out your bean counter "Karl" and add the numbers.

Here's another scenario you could possibly understand. Remember your buddy "Dick"? He has heart disease. If he had ignored it what do you think would have happen?

Here's another one. Mental illness due to stress from having no health care and dealing with the loss of a home.

Yes, "Karl", I blame you for the big old mess we're in. Unfortunately we can't invite you to the tent party for all those feeling the pain because you ain't feeling any.

"Karl", you're a dumb ass.

But what should happen every time this turd shows his face public, is that he is forced to answer the following question: Why are you not in jail for your role in exposing a covert CIA operative, and for contempt of Congress?

You ran a fricken bulldozer over the laws in this country and all of the other countries you and your mercenaries entered. You expected the military to do the same and thankfully most had stronger ideals than the sandlot bullies who ran the white house.

"Karl", why don't you explain to the country what you really had in mind when you ran hell bent over the constitution and the countries laws? Oh wait a minute...don't bother. I know there are a bunch of people in your administration working feverishly at their computers right now because they want "the real story" in the Bush library. Your reputation is going to look like the floor of barn yard in a few years "Karl". The only people interested in your opinions are going to be the dingdongs that go to CPAC like Michelle Bachmann who is quite frankly, strange. "Yo the Man." What was she thinking?

is no match for Hurricane Katrina (and I mean that in a good way)!

You expected George Stenographer (takes talking points from Hannity) to interupt Katrina and put you in charge of the table. George forgot he is supposed to be in charge.

I noticed George Will has joined Eric Kanter in calling Rush Limbaugh a liar.

He said "Nobody in this country wants President Obama to fail".

Kanter, on another morning show, said, "No Republican wants President Obama to fail".

Either Rush "Every Republican in this country wants Obama to fail" Limbaugh and every cheering Republican conservative at CPAC are liars...or George Will and Eric Kanter are liars.

Oops. False choice...they are all liars, of course. The only question is, which ones are the bigger liars.

that for sure. The problem is, that in order for all these guys to be proven correct about the economy, about progressives, about the Democrats, then Obama must fail.

I believe that most of them, like their god, Rush, would rather be right than for the country to get back on track.

I can't even fathom what kind of slime that makes them.

Republican.

I was watching This Week on TV and I had a horrible thought when I saw Carl Rove in the discussion, I hope to hell they are not thinking of giving him Sam Donaldson's slot at the round table. If they are they can kiss my ass good-bye, I will never watch them again.

Then that will only leave "Face the Nation" for Sunday morning which isn't all that bad. Face the Nation is only a half hour long so we will have more time for the wife and kids.

Shouldn't Karl Rove be sitting in jail somewhere? The very idea that this guy has the audacity to lecture about fiscal responsibility after 8 years of Bush. Go Katrina. I love that woman.

Herbert Hoover did it, Reagan/Bush 1 did it, and now Bush 2 did it: create recessions, depressions and massive government debt by wrongheaded economic policies that favor the rich, then criticize the Democrats for taking the necessary steps to clean up the mess. "Vote for us and have a party, don't vote for those responsible Democrats, they're no fun."

But Reagan said that deficits don't matter.
Wouldn't you rather listen to him and keep on spending cause you'll be pushing up daisys when the bill come due ?

Didn't he say something about a shiny city on pills too?
Was there ever a moment he didn't seem to be playing a B movie star?

Anyway, it works like this.
Your first night alone in the Oval Office there's this puff of smoke and there appears a real cool guy who can give you four years of uncontrolled spending and making whoopie on other countries.

The only hard part is getting the ink to sign the deal.
It comes from the veins of the American public.

trying to fill seats?

I guess infamy/notoriety trumps credibility.

Recently we've seen Tom Delay (tried on money-laundering charges and convicted in 2005 of conspiracy to violate campaign finance laws) on Chris Matthews. Then there's Newt "the Christian" Gingrich (now on marriage #3 who pushed for Clinton's impeachment while having an affair during marriage #2) on Fox, ABC, NBC. Now Rove (who believes he's altogether above the law--but not for long) on "This Week?" We expect to see compromised, convicted and disgraced losers on Fox, I think it's part of their broadcast standards with Dick Morris, Bill-O, Rove, etc., as part of a dysfunctional family of ethics-challenged weasels.

(Isn't it funny that these are the folks who tend to wrap themselves in the cloth of the bible and flag, and claim to be the people trying to 'save America' from the bad, bad liberals?--okay, maybe more scary than funny)

The good news for all of us may be that these are the best the right can offer. Thank God for booking Katrina to counter the dark side and keep the ball in the court of reality.

It's become clear that we may have won the election, but we will need to continue our vigilance to keep the right wing from obstructing and sabotaging progress.

"... than was incurred in 2 wars, 9/11 and the previous administration," argued Rove.

i heard that lie at least twice... once he even said bush "inherited a recession"... no one was able to correct him... 'til katrina...

not taking any crap from TurdBlossom. In fact, he's no blossom at all, just a giant POS! He should be in JAIL, not on ABC or any other TV program.

You can always tell when cretins like Rove know they're beaten, they just start to talk louder and talk over the ones who really know what they're talking about.

What chutzpah. First Rush "Porkulus" Limbaugh says he wants President Obama to fail, then Tom Delay repeats it on camera in an interview, now KKKarl Rove chastises another administration about deficit spending.

Besides being porciine and bald, his demagoguery is just so blatant, ugly and divisive, I can hardly keep myself from throwing a shoe at the HDTV.

We've had enough, Karl. Shut up. Go away. Go, be on Limbaugh's radio show every day. You're perfect for one another. Both fat, rich, ugly, stupid, divisive demagogues. You could be his sidekick. It'd be perfect.

Did you all forget about the 7th largest company in America who went bankrupt?

MR.Karl Rove,
here,
happens to be one of the biggest stockholders in the bush administration, with enron...
check it out, on bbc.com...

and you mr rove, could be linked to voting scams, the US attorney suits, and a whole bunch of things like the Don seigelman case, plus a whole bunch more...

...on "This Week" in the first place. Rove constantly attempted to interrupt Katrina VH to prevent her from making points...he failed as always.

"....with all due respect..."? Turdblossom is not fit to even speak on television for what he and his friends have done to the country, much less to try and consider himself equal to Katrina V.H. Why isn't he in jail? I told Katrina V. H. that I'm done with George Stephanopoulos because of this 'trick'.

And then she has to say to Wills, "This isn't a game" (baseball analogy).

Take these elitists (including George S.) and send them to Faux News!

Every conservative commentator who is interviewed should be asked "do you want Obama to fail?" That would be a clear indication as to the scope of influence of Limbaugh (assuming their answers are honest of course). This of course is unlikely to happen, given the kid gloves with which conservatives are treated on the media.

This MSM is going to look so wierd and inept in the future it's not funny...

If I ever hear again that that Criminal Bush Bastard is EVER AGAIN on "This Week"...I'm through with them!

Amazing that this fat little felon Rove can find time to appear on ABC's this week but he can't find the time to answer a subpoena by the United State Congress to appear to explain his role in the the illegal imprisoning of a Democratic Governor. Not to mention his hidden role in exposing a CIA operative.

In his case, justice has been mugged and raped.

Bushco raped a nation for profit.

Does anyone have a more fitting description?

it must’ve gotten very interesting in the green room, after ThisWeek…

Rove: Bush Administration ‘Fulfilled’ Obligations to Katrina Victims

Former Bush adviser Karl Rove blames Katrina response on former Louisiana government.

i can’t watch any more of the slug… hard to get through this morning, and if not for katrin v. there i wouldn’t have…
but here is a link that will take you there (about half way down)…
check out the visual there too…

http://abcnews.go.com/ Politics/ Business/ story?id=6984716&page=1

I guess it comes down to whom are you going to believe? The ex-POLITICAL adviser of a President who ran us into economic ruin (inherited a recession, my ass) or a NOBEL PRIZE WINNING ECONOMIST.

Why is Rove on this show? He should be in jail, but even if he were out on bail awaiting trial, what does he bring to the discussion?

Maybe Richard Posner or Gary Becker would be appropriate. Or at least, Grover Norquist.

When you stared into Karl Rove's eyes and put him in his place today, I was awe-struck. It was like the force was with you.
Excuse the inapropiate term I am about to use, but there is no other way I can describe you:
Lady..., YOU GOT BALLS!
I Love It!

not behind bars? Why is he trying to talk about fiscal responsibility when he let DumbAss plunge us into debt? This is the makings of a bad sitcom.

EAT...A.....DICK you fucking asshole retard liar thieving murderer!!

I emailed This Week, and told them that if I ever see Mr Rove on their show again, I'll just stop watching their show. That FREAK should be in prison!

How sad and pathetic what this country has become , that this pathological liar and scum bag is being quoted all over in the media and is on all the political talk shows as if he is a credible or respectable human being . I sure hope the Dems have enough principles and integrity to go after this guy , throw his ass in jail now ! If they let this guy and the others off the hook and get away with snubbing Congressional subpoenas the Dems and this administration are no better than Bush ,Cheney and the criminals and this country is in big trouble , more so than is already apparent .

Bush and Rove THREW money away on useless shit. Now they're going to lecture us on deficit spending when the economy is in a tail spin. Fucking creeps make me puke.

Katrina gave the toad hell.

Here's the TRUTH: W increased the gross national debt from 5.7 trillion to 10 trillion in 8 years--an increase of 4.3 Trillion, with most of it due to tax cuts (zfacts dot com). Obama so far has recommended a stimulus package that will cost 200 Billion (money dot cnn dot com). Now, Obama is gearing up to do something about health care and other issues and that will surely cost more, but those spending bills have not been debated yet, so I have NO freakin' idea what Rove is talking about. If anything, Obama has not investing enough to recover from the Bush Depression.

Can someone help me with my Rovian Math Homework?

Also, notice that Rove did not address the "starving the beast" comment? He's knows exactly what Vanden Heuvel talking about, and yet he delicately side-steps it with his dubious "20-month, 11-day" distraction.

I want someone to say, since the debt is up 4.3 trillion and the Bush admin only spent 2.7, the rest was stolen?

Just to watch him stammer and try and figure out what to say.

Why is this idiot allowed a forum anyway. He's making his own laws as he goes along. I love Katrina. She's got as much backbone as any man i've ever met. She's unshakeable.
