Fox's Brit Hume said that little will come from Democrats' attempts to investigate Bush officials who politicized the Justice Department.

"We've heard John Conyers, one of the most liberal members of the American body politic, wants to hold investigations. He's held many farcical investigations in the past. The likelihood is they will go nowhere and end up being an embarrassment to the Congress and the Democrats in charge there," said Hume.

Of course he does. I find it funny that all these talking heads state their opinion as if it is law or something. As if they are the all knowing person on the given subject. Scarborough is the king of that sort of, no one knows as much on any subject as I do, attitude.

Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.

Remember when you were a kid and other kids told you their candy didn't taste good to keep you from wanting it? Same thing.

Hume and Kristol and the like are speaking strictly to the 28%ers. Nobody else gives a damn what spews out of their holes. It's comical that those guys think they have some kind of influence outside of the right-wing nutcase demographic.

...with an agenda and very deep pockets enabling them to spew this bilge "24" hours a day ...

I'm Boycotting NewsCorp! Heres what not to buy: http://www.cjr.org/resources/index.php?c=news...

Yeah, but they spew it in the Fox ghetto. None of these guys, with the exception of Kristol's NYT gig, has any mainstream outlet for their propaganda. I don't care how many wingnut eyes and ears they get on any given day, it doesn't leave that room. And with the rest of the country moving in a different direction, that garbage will fall on more and more deaf ears.

We're so used to seeing radical conservative morons getting a mainstream soapbox that it's hard to imagine a time when they won't, but that day is coming. We'll never be completely rid of that cancer, but the tumor is shrinking and going into remission.

If Hume is bothering to ridicule the prospect of investigations at Justice, that can only mean that the GOP is worried about such an investigation.

EXACTLY. Nail on the head over here folks!

motorfingaz's picture

Bingo!!!

I agree with practically everything Hume said.

Conyers is liberal...not liberal enough, but liberal.

He has held farcical investigations in the past...OK I don't agree.

They will go nowhere...true!!! Absolutely true.

They will be embarrassing...true but not for his reasons. They will be embarrassing by showing the Democrats are tools just like the Republicans. Same paymasters, different spins.

I remember that same verbiage being used against Obama, Kerry, etc. It seems like anytime someone proposes *anything* contrary to Republican party policy, they're branded "one of the most liberal" senators, representatives, or whatever their designation is.

Different day, same crap. Nothing to see here.

Doesn't there come a point when enough people have been named "one of the most liberal" that we can consider the average person in Congress to be liberal?

Anti-war protesters throw shoes at White House

WASHINGTON (AP) — Anti-war protesters were throwing shoes outside the gates of the White House on President George W. Bush's last day in office.

About 500 people marched to the White House and threw about 40 pairs of shoes at the gate while tourists looked on and took photos.

Either Sh!t Fumes is upset that people will actually be held "RESPONSIBLE" for crimes committed, or he lacks faith in the House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers' past of "no action" that he fears moving forward will be fruitless because the person in charge of investigations of the past just sat on his hind quarters and actually did nothing.

Like Nazi Pelosi said, "Past is prologue," and I think Fumes is afraid that the "no action" of the past will move forward continuing in the vein.

... I can dream, NO?

I think the truth is, Brit's a pile of Sh!t Fumes.

Both Humes and his pedo mate O'Reilly need to face as much justice as Bush and his cronies. The pair of them have lied, abused, harrassed and supported on their shows the treason of Bush and co. Will the democrats have the balls to bring them to account? You bet your sweet life they wont.I have a dream, that Pres Obama will show this nation he is not going to simply be another President, I have a dream Pres Obama will say to this nation, the nation he implores to unite and join him, he will say, Bush lied deliberately and I will insist he answers to this nation. I have a dream, and that is all it is, a dream. Bush, Chaney, their crim friends, their evil media supporters will sit back in the contented knowledge, nothing will happen to them. Nothing unless a series of unfortunate private accidents befall them. Then the dream will be a reality.

Every time any conservative pundit (FOX included of course) refers to a Democrat, they always use the line "one of the most liberal". Who does that leave on the left that isn't one of the most liberal?

is intended to be a factual statement

And also, they try their best to ignore the true progressives like Kucinich, Feingold, and Sanders, and only save "the most liberal" label for anyone who dares go just one toe over the republican party line.

Tomorrow, Bush's problems become Obama's.

He's a great politician.

But will he make the right decisions?

The right decisions aren't those, necessarily, that are satisfying.

They're those that stand the test of history.

Start by tripling the tax rate on every person who voted for Bush in 2000 and again in 2004. That would be a start to pull us out of the deficit sink hole Bush supporters got us into by voting for this SOB. You voted for it, you pay for it.

Blue Knuckle's picture

seriously. those people should legally have to forego the right to vote for two more election cycles before they get the vote back. There is no excuse.

- accomplished legal mind

Republican bullcrap hogwash.

When it comes to John Conyers committee and his investigations, let's go back in time a bit before we condemn him.

Most of what Mr. Conyers tried to investigate occurred during the period prior to 2006 before the Democrats took the majority in the house and Senate. The Republicans wouldn't even let him meet in a committee room, and he was not allowed to be referred to as the Chairman. He at least had the guts to BEGIN looking at the abuses of the Bush presidency.

And yes, you could fault the Democratic leadership after 2006 for not pushing more of Mr. Conyer's agenda, but remember, with the slim Democratic majority in the Senate being threatened at every turn by the filbustering assholes of the GOP, it was damn tough to get ANYTHING through.

Also, Mr. Conyers didn't have media access like the GOP's propaganda outlet, FOX News and it's chief manure spreader, Shit Fumes.

Democratic Party progressive, Vietnam veteran and proud Union member for 41 years

Conyers, sadly, has a long legacy of rhetoric and relatively few achievements, either as judiciary chair or other legislative matters. Not saying he's not a great man - one we all should admire - but his success rate is pretty bad considering his 30+ years in congress. He's not really able to lead.

There you go again putting your little quotation marks around two words I did write, quod vide: big rock and using them in a sentence that I did not write.

We need a serious discussion on intellectual honesty and ethics, both of which you are falling well short of my ideal.

Or if I give you the extreme benefit of the doubt, it is competence or consideration. More precisely a lack thereof.

If you wish to make a point about something I have said, then link to my statement or better yet, copy it and paste in italics with blockquote or some similar mechanism to identify it, THEN comment.

OTHERWISE, don't bother. I will not respond.

the repigs have nothing to worry about !thier will be no serious investigations into any bush cheny crimes , now how would that look if bush was charged with war crimes for starting two wars one in iraq one in afganistan , although both were not started by obummer his intention as hes stated is to prolong both the occupation in one and to enhance the other, you cant charge one president for crimes and let the next president continiue doing the same crimes!
