GOP Debate Audience Cheers Waterboarding
The audience at Saturday night's Republican presidential debate erupted into applause at the mention of waterboarding, an interrogation technique that is often described as torture.
The National Journal's Major Garrett asked Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain to respond to a Vietnam veteran who said he believed torture was wrong in all cases.
Cain agreed that torture was wrong, but said he would defer to the military as to what techniques constituted torture.
"Mr. Cain, of course you are familiar with the long-running debate we've had about whether waterboarding constitutes torture or is an enhanced interrogation technique," Garrett noted. "In the last campaign, Republican nominee John McCain and Barack Obama agreed that it was torture and should not be allowed legally."
"I don't see it as torture. I see it as an enhanced interrogation technique," Cain replied as the audience expressed approval.
Garrett then turned to Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann for her response.
"If I were president, I would be willing to use waterboarding," she explained as the crowd cheered wildly. "It was very effective. It gained information for our country."
But two of the candidates actually agreed with the veteran who said waterboarding should not be used under any circumstance. Both Rep. Ron Paul and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said waterboarding amounted to torture.
Yeah, what could possibly go wrong with that decision...

The follow up question made a reference to Obama AND McCain saying, “The Army Field Manuel is the methodology that should be used”. The implication, that by doing so, waterboarding would NOT be used.
Those clowns still can’t help saying they would defer to the military, but would still go for waterboarding.

I just read that Herman Cain says God convinced him to run for the Presidency. Rick Perry (or his wife) said God gave him the word, too. And Michelle Bachmann is also running based on the urging of God. Either their God can't make up his/her mind or - in my opinion - they are confusing their egos with God.

Torture is not nor ever has been an acceptable practice of a civilized and moral people, thus, if I am elected President of these United States, I will not condone the use of the torture known as "waterboarding", nor any other form of torture. I see it as an enhanced interrogation technique" is actually a legal interpretation, they claim, of the resulting law that came from the Nuremberg Trials that SPECIFICALLY DEFINED TORTURE (look it up - it's not really that hard to find in the Google machine). Countries around the planet adopted very strict laws against that torture, including the US, and when Chimpy and Cheeeney blew them off as 'quaint' the legal system in this country took a giant leap backwards a century.
BUT, that seems to be what these semi-conscious blobs actually want to do! Repeal the 20th century seems to also include re-implementing the semi-legal set of laws we had in 1875.... Unthinkable stupidity.

Yeah, much of the audience certainly cheered, but a smaller but very vocal part also applauded when Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman stated that waterboarding is torture and shouldn't be used. Had I not watched the video, I would have assumed the whole audience completely supported waterboarding; it's actually comforting that many do not.
