Gingrich: Obama Doesn't Think 'Work Is Good'
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is doubling down on his assertion that Barack Obama is a "food stamp president" by suggesting that the current White House resident doesn't even think "work is good."
During a Fox News debate in South Carolina Monday, moderator Bret Baier lobbed the former House Speaker a softball question, asking if he supported 99 weeks of unemployment benefits. The Georgia Republican is on record saying, "I don’t want to pay people 99 weeks to do nothing."
"The help we ought to give them is to connect them to a business-run training program to acquire the skills to be employable," Gingrich explained. "Ninety-nine weeks is an associate degree."
"It tells you everything you need to know about Barack Obama and the five of us [Republican candidates] that we actually think work is good," he added to the delight of the conservative South Carolina audience.
"And we think unconditional efforts by the best food stamp president in American to maximize dependency is terrible for the future of this country."
Later in the evening, the audience booed moderator Juan Williams for asking if Gingrich had “belittled the poor and racial minorities” by declaring that black Americans should demand jobs, not foodstamps.
Mr. 1.35 million for a few hours of lobbying can surely show all Americans a thing or two about working(it).

"Newt Gingrich spoke at my annual meeting two years ago, we paid him $40,000, and this gentleman praised private equity more fulsomely than I could ever do it. I can give you a copy of the check. We paid to the Washington Speakers Bureau for Newt Gingrich to come and speak. He was great. He gave a great evening. Everybody had fun. He fielded a lot of questions. He gave us a lot of time. But nobody praised private equity, risk taking, capital more fulsomely than Newt Gingrich."
So if you give Newt a cheque for $40,000, he'd praise whatever you want?
OK, Paul Levy doesn't appear to know what "fulsome" means. Here's the Guardian's style guide:

Good point. It's like my home state of Maryland - the populousd Baltimore-Washington corridor is heavily liberal, but the relatively sparsely-populated Eastern Shore (where I grew up) and the western panhandle are both very conservative. How I escaped the conservative brainwashing, I'll never know.

Newton says that Obama is the food stamp President but of course leaves out the fact that it is the Republican policies that drove the economy into the ditch that has impoverished so many people that their only hope to get enough to eat is for the country to help them by way of food stamps. The reason so many people are on food stamps is because George Bush fucked the economy and then dumped the whole problem onto Obama and now Gingrich calls Obama the food stamp President. Repeal the child labor laws so that food stamp recipients and their children can be put to work as janitors in government buildings to earn those food stamps. They can work thirty poor people for the cost of one government janitor who earns thirty thousand a year.

Most such programs are a Sham used only as a Tax Haven for Businesses. They will hire Train then lay off new workers or force them to quit for the Tax Cuts for their Businesses.
