Donald Trump reveals he's a birther
Donald Trump isn't even running for president yet, but he is already gearing up for the primaries by pandering to the Republican base.
In an interview with ABC News' Ashleigh Banfield that aired Thursday, Trump said he had some doubts that President Barack Obama was a U.S. citizen.
"Everybody that even gives any hint of being a birther -- a word you didn't use -- even a little bit of a hint like 'gee, you know, maybe, just maybe this much of chance,' they label them as an idiot," he told Banfield.
"Let me tell you, I'm a really smart guy," Trump continued. "I was a really good student at the best school in the country. The reason I have a little doubt -- just a little -- is because he grew up and nobody knew him."
"When you interview people, if I ever got the nomination, if I ever decide to run, you may go back and interview people from my kindergarten. They'll remember me. Nobody ever comes forward. Nobody knows who he is until later in his life."
"It's very strange. The whole thing is very strange," he added.
If the American business magnate wants the Republican nomination then he may need support from the birthers. A recent PPP poll found that a majority of Republican voters don't believe Obama was born in the U.S.
Trump also took issue with Republican House Speaker John Boehner's emotional outbursts.
"I don't like the crying," he said. "I do not like it. I don't understand it. I really like him as a person. I think the crying is an emotional thing that frankly, probably makes him a very nice man. But you know, I don't like to see it in a leader."
Trump told Banfield that he was prepared to spend $600 million of his own money if he does decide to make a run for the White House.
"That's one of the nice things. I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich. So if I need $600 million, I can put $600 million myself," he said.

Hey smart guy, you're just placating to hopeless ignorants who have zero intention of ever voting for Obama. What country did that rat furred toupee you wear come from? Rich entitled boastful pencil dicked bore who for years has surrounded himself with butt lickers telling him how great he is.
A slightly smarter version of George W. Bush.
a large percentage of trump's projects end
up in bankruptcy.
that's how he accumulates his personal money, not by creating and running successful businesses.
bundling bad securities, selling them to pensioners, and then betting against them . . . but not much better
... is within every last Fountainhead-dry-humping one of my teabagging fellow constituents.
This guy *is* the new American Dream. Fuck *everyone else*. Fire *everyone else*. Let *everyone else* get fucked, so long as you stay on top.
It's also the recipe for creating misery in those around you, and a pretty good example of what's wrong with this country.
"uh oh, we can't afford that pension or social security that you've worked your whole life for [since we've crashed the economy], so we're gonna have to disband your union to save the economy [the one that we trashed], and if that means that there is no longer any countervailing political influence against our big money, just remember: the trickle down is coming [but don't hold your breath]"
Just like his personal character.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
I really wish the GOP would officially privatize their party. They are privatizing the country, only want CEO's and mommies to run things and believe life and liberty are commodities.
Hopefully humanity will one day learn to be humane.
I think they're waaaaaay ahead of you.
He's an even bigger asshole than I thought.
Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water.
He's as big an asshole as I thought.
Why is it, in "Merika, if you're rich, you're an instant expert on everything? (Pssst... It's a disease.)
far left loon >.<
Now he's a birther, what did he say at CPAC? Oh, he loves the TPers now, hasn't he spoken out about them before too?
I agree with him on Boehner though :)
this bozo who claims to be "Real Smart" equate palin with obama, and as far as his economic strategy goes we are dealing with someone who uses bankruptcy as a tool, a means of quickly balancing the books then get on with the next round of scams..............sounds like a real good Repug.
The first casualty of republicanism is the truth.
Party politics are not only undemocratic, they are antidemocratic.
you can't trust anyone like donald trump
with transplanted pubic hair on his head.........
on everyones' minds is ...
Will he split the ticket with his toupee?
Easy crack. But the man isn't in any way "qualified" to run a country. And the teabagging birther corporatist thing is just poop icing on the poop cake.
Trump serious about..............,
More like Trump delusional.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
Just when I think this prick couldn't be a bigger asshole than he already is, he surprises me. I wonder how he will top this? Divorce his wife? Wipe his ass with an American flag at a baseball game?
With the way the independent low information voters are turning against these GOP psycho governors, the only hope the fascist repukes ma have of not being crushed, is for the democrats to nominate Mr. DLC again.
If I were a psychopath, I would join the republican party, and get in on the gravy train taking the Teabircher morons to the cleaners.
"Let me tell you, I'm a really smart guy," Trump continued."
Yeah, he's so fucking smart that he managed to bankrupt his inherited multi-million dollar real estate business TWICE. It would be nice to see just one interviewer call him out for being the silver-spoon deadbeat that he is.
What a fucking asshole.
...making poor economic/business decisions for personal gain then sticking the tax payer with the bill when things go belly up doesn't make you a smart guy, it makes you a Republican.
spewing way more than your fair share of carbon emissions, then you should be able to hire someone to do a little research
here, for instance, is president obama's kindergarten photograph, supplied by one of women who taught him in hawaii before he moved to indonesia: http://www.mauinews.com/?page=photos.largeIma...
the other students may not remember him because they didn't attend school with him after that year . . . heck, i was an honors student at the university of chicago and yale, so i have a pretty good memory, but i recall exactly two kids from my kindergarten class . . . one of them, because her grandparents lived on my street, and the other because she egged me into being her partner in a crime that earned me a head-to-toe beating from my father
I don't remember anyone in school before fifth grade. But I don't claim to have a great memory either.
This type of self-absorbed individual is completely delusional. He is not "smart", he's clever. All these Repub/conservative "very serious" people are just fucking prigs. They all believe that being clever is equivalent to to being smart or intelligent.
This statement is telling:
"That's one of the nice things. I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich. So if I need $600 million, I can put $600 million myself," he said.
The "beauty of me"? What a fucking narcissistic dick. He will lose if he runs for POTUS. Say goodbye to $600 mil, you asshole.
Religion will be the downfall of Humanity.
He's not even clever. He just knows how to game the system for his own profit and he doesn't have a moral code to prevent him from doing so. Basically he's a lot like Rove.
generally what you need in order to be so gullible to believe this shit.

The Dumb-Ass Reslug doesn't even have a chance in hell of winning dog catcher of the year, but he would win worst looking rug of the year.
let the dogcatchers keep the pelts to wear as rugs like his?
Meg Whitman was pretty rich too before she ran for governor. Throw that $600 million away Trump.
But it worked for Rick Scott who is now the gov of Fla. He had a shit load of his own money in the game and it got him elected somehow.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
I can't understand why a really rich person would want to run for office. The hours are lousy and the pay is shit. What could they gain that they couldn't just buy someone else to do for them?

Ego
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Ego is (at least) half the problem in politics.
far left loon >.<
It's also worth remembering that the payoff from being able to re-write the law in your favor can be enormous.
Yes, the actual pay from the job itself is terrible... but how much money do they get back when they slash the corporate tax rate in half? How much do they save by doing stuff like keeping the Bush tax cuts?
I think it was Rachel Maddow who said that it made perfect sense to spend millions on these elections, because the payoff is even bigger than the investment, sometimes by an order of magnitude. It's also pretty hard to undo the damage they did when in office; they don't even have to stay all that long; just enough to save themselves a lot of cash and screw up regulation for decades to come.
Why else do these Congresscritters go in worth 100,000 dollars and get out worth millions? And then go into high paying lobbying jobs?
Shit, I might as well throw my hat into the ring for 2012. I'm at least as qualified as Trump. Certainly smarter than Palin or Bachmann (Tho thats no stretch.)
"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing." -- Robert E. Howard
They can influence the laws to make them richer.
It wasn't exactly his money--as CEO of his healthcare company he stole billions from Medicare. And now we 'trust' him to run our state.
motocat, I thoroughly agree! Crook-ed is in!!!!! This is the Repubs way of screwing up our
country! YOW .... What an ignorant move! Rick Scott's past history gave him the Governor's seat!
The FLorida Repigs will get just what they deserve!!
If you have to tell people how smart you are, you probably aren't as smart as you think.
Do you have to stick a tea bag up your ass to have any hope of being the republican candidate?
Sorry, I know that wasn't a very lady like thing to say but I've had about all I can take of this stuff. Trump doesn't doubt the president is a US citizen but he knows he will need feeble minded people to vote for him if he runs so he lowers himself to their mental capability to pander to them. No, he's not smart, he is devious.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
Smart people don't say they're smart. They often claim to know little.
far left loon >.<
Likewise, truly "beautiful" people don't state that they are. Nor do people who are truly good in their field, kitchen or bed. Leaning to be humble, at least in the presence of those who do not share your gift, is part of the responsibility of being good.

I come off in person as a straight laced guy. I have to tell people all the time that I'm not a good person - I lie, I steal, I cheat, etc. Then they don't believe me anyway even though I'm telling the truth.
A Boeing 747 might just be big enough for his ego.
This right here "Let me tell you, I'm a really smart guy," Trump continued. "I was a really good student at the best school in the country. The reason I have a little doubt -- just a little -- is because he grew up and nobody knew him." - is revealing of more than just being a Birther.
Trump is revealing what an elitist jackass he is.
Of course people knew Obama growing up; the thing is, they weren't people that Trump gives a shit about. They weren't future CEOs and ambassadors, they were just normal kids who went on to do everything from lawschool to flipping burgers.
It'd be like if I ran for president and someone asked a similar question: Well no, no one particularly well known is going to know who I am; I grew up in central IL - half my highschool class probably doesn't remember me. This is perfectly normal for anyone who isn't super-rich and hyper-privileged.
Joe Average does not grow up with the future CEO of Forbes, for example, he grows up with that guy who pumps your gas, or maybe becomes a computer programmer.
Joe Average does not grow up with the future CEO of Forbes,
What, you think every single kid in Donald Trump's high school class grew up to be rich and famous? Of course ordinary people grow up with powerful ones now and then. They just don't know it until years later. Not every mover and shaker started out filthy rich. Most of the really important ones didn't.
There's always free cheddar in the mousetrap, baby. - Tom Waits
Donald Trump didn't go to just any school. He went to New York Military Academy, which is as I understand it a pretty elite prep school. I suspect it's fair to say that classmates from that school fairly often went into fairly high end careers. I'm not saying they're necessarily on par with Donald Trump for fame and fortune, but I'd not be shocked to find out his class boasts a lot of names we're either familiar with, or are familiar with the work thereof.
My point is that the way Trump is talking, he's saying someone he should have somehow been aware of then-young Obama on the way up, and that somehow his unawareness justifies birtherism. Trump has lead a life of privilege from the get-go - yes, he made his fortune what it is today, but he started head and shoulders over where the average American citizen does.
Trump's world - that is the people who actually matter to Donald Trump, is very small; and the average American is not a part of that group. That is my point.
I propose we proportion him.

His reality show is an orgy of greed, narcissism, self-degradation, disrespect, fear, malice, etc.etc.
He's a rich bug and his values are poisonous. When will this ignorant country stop worshiping the rich?
I don't believe in God. Teach a man to be a good citizen and you have solved the problem of life.

That question should be hitting the internet echo chamber for months until we get it.
I'd consider myself a really smart guy too if my daddy left me 400 million and I went bankrupt twice (?) or three times and got banksters to lend me another bazillion dollars. If this motherfucker were dropped into Compton with clothes on his back he would be living on skid row in downtown LA or be a greeter at Walmart. Smart? Shit.
Sounds like he's Dubya all over again. Failed at everything and thinks he's a winner.
There's an old Twilight Zone episode when a wealthy, dying patriarch forced his vulture relatives to wear hideous masks at his death bed if they wished to inherit his fortune. Each mask was designed to mirror their twisted characters. The moment the patriarch died they ripped the masks off, only to find their faces had molded into into that of the mask they had been wearing.
It's as if someone had slapped a similar mask on rich kid Trump at birth; his conceited, smirking, self satisfied, condescending, jackass of a face perfectly fits the man.
Christ, where do they get this horseshit?

He'll run the country as a business. Well, we saw how lovely that worked out during the Bush years.
Are we now becoming so complacent as to blindly accept an actual billionaire buying an election? Especially when considering what's happening in Michigan?
The presidency appears to be for sale. Look around. Millionaires and billionaires using their own money to buy their way into office so they can (cough, cough... !fart) "serve the people".
far left loon >.<
Is it wrong of me to think of "serve the people" in terms of "... for dinner."?
...is about to become a reality show.
Wouldn't it be nice to one day see interviews featuring Americans you've never heard of who are planning to run for President? If we had real campaign finance reform and anyone could run, what would the elites do? They would freak out if we had normal Americans who wanted to enter politics. Of course, the deck is stacked against us from the outset seeing how it takes millions to even contend.
What if he runs and loses? Could his ego take that? I'm afraid of what he might do in order to win.
Say what you mean. Mean what you say. But don't say it mean.
what could be sweeter than the American people saying to Donald at the ballot box, your fired!
Unfortunately, Donald, your nice richness is outweighed by your rank dickishness.
and braggarts are heard of more often and known more than introverts and the more introspect people.
Does that help you Trump?
If you need funds to pay for essentials, you have a revenue problem
If you need funds to pay for frivolity, you have a spending problem
Does that thing on his head have a birth certificate?
When did treasonous rhetoric stop being unpatriotic? Is undermining the American government in a time of war the new Red White and Blue? The more I know man, the more I want to kick his dog.
of these asswipes "buying" their way into office. Trump could wipe his sphincter with "g" notes and flush them down the commode without the least bit of shame. Besides, it's dirty money anyway.
One poster mentioned that the reason filthy rich seek office is really all about satisfying their egos, and obtaining power to force their warped views onto the american people and the world. Perhaps he could spend his stolen $600m on saving the planet and other worthwhile projects to improve the human condition rather than wasting it on his futile, megalomanic cravings to become president.
Their homeworld was a place called Earth, located in an uninteresting part of the galaxy. They had an expression: pride goeth before a fall. Their pride was their undoing. I know. I was there....They did not listen, of course. Arrogant men never do.
Watched the Trump roast for a few minutes and realized that even with the "situation" on stage Trump still had the largest ego and the least intelligence.
Just another empty suit generating self-perceived fame when reality says your sticking a javelin thru your own persona...
The chump is a egotistical huckster. The absolutely worst kind of person to put into public service. He will serve himself and his corporate fellows exclusively. He should be ashamed for even contemplating public office. He is everything that is wrong with politicians in a single package.

other countries are doing with our money"....
For such a smart guy....he say's some pretty stupid things....
First, the elites like to cover up the history of their mouthpiece. That way, family is protected and kept from speaking out or being harrassed by the media. Also, maybe because obama was middle class (remember, grandma was a vice president at a bank, so he wasn't quite as poor as a janitor or waitress at a diner). Poorer persons are less likely to glorify themselves with hundreds of photos and other graven images.
And this Fucknut trump. What a cock sucking piece of shit. Yeah, let's make him president so when he screws up and has to claim "political bankruptcy", we can all give him a do over and then a new television show about it. That last line really pisses me off. It proves that it's all about buying the election. Not about running on good ideas.
this is all self promotion...much like his stint in the usfl
he knows full well that obama was educated abroad
love how he berates america for being the world's policemen....then berates america for not putting more money into our domestic economy....rofl
he will not run...but he wants to be a king maker
as an aside...someone who thinks she has a chance, is winging her way to israel right now
yes...america's esther will be in israel right on time for purim
how convinient
The birthers then must believe there is a conspiracy at the deepest levels of the US Government to allow an ineligible person to assume the highest office in our country. So the FBI, CIA, NSA all are in on the installation of the Kenyan as our president. How fucking dumb do you have to be to believe that?
DiddyMao
Complete and total douche bag. What is with that hair?
He'll squander the country's money just the way Bush did, since Trump frittered away his dad's money (TWICE or more) why should we trust him with the country's?
What an idiot? A pandering idiot at that. Don't the Republicans have any honest adults running for office? I cringe every time I think, "God Almighty, Nixon doesn't seem so bad any more." That is what the Republican party has come to: Nixon as the beacon of economic sanity, a statesman, a "sane" Republican. As a lifelong Democrat whose first Presidential vote was for George McGovern I am horrified that I am even writing that.
Nixon was evil but these people take EVIL to a whole new level.
What an amazingly self important asshole the man is.
I am sooooo lucky I can afford to live out of this country. These clowns are all out of control.
You would think with that much spare change around he would fix that thing that is perched atop his head!
THIS loathesome pile of entitlement is allowed to continually pollute the national airwaves with his greasy hairweave and puddinhead presence.
Yeah America, allow this POS to buy the White House and it will be like the last screen of the "Fall of the Roman Empire" where rich slimebuckets were bidding for the throne.
Is millionaire worship that much of a pathology? If so Trump is the best they come up with? Jeebus.
Just another screwball!
No, Mr. The, you're thinking of Jesus, who is born, and the next thing you know, he's in his 30s. I realize that there has been some confusion, what with the whole "Is he the messiah or the antichrist?" debate among the nation's fools, but this is just plain Barrack Hussein Obama, whose life is pretty well accounted for.
Everyone is equally entitled to the pursuit of happiness. Wasn't that once self evident?
This is what politics looks like in the third world: The contest is between two parties who are both loyal to the top 5% richest class, so the retail politics comes down to celebrity. The "interviews" conducted by the corporate broadcasters are similar to episodes of "Entertainment Tonight" from the 1980s.
This "reporter" is a disgrace. This kind of segment belongs in People Magazine, not a news show.
The only comment that occurs to me is YEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
and many of the moderates will too, you watch. Trump is going to take the GOP and he'll be able to shred Obama in a debate on economics. He is the biggest threat Obama faces.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
I've taken shits that could beat this fuckface in a debate!
Cheers!
I think you'll find your shits won't do the job. As for economics, you wouldn't stand a chance to beat Trump in a debate and neither will Obama, he'll be babbling in a debate against Trump. Quit looking at it from a liberals perspective and see it from the right. A liberal of course is going to just hate Trump, the right however is a fertile field for Trump to harvest the support, he will be their new Ronald Reagan.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
Oh, maaaaaan! You are such a deep thinker!
Sure, Donald Trump is going to be able to win over those anti-elitists in the GOP base. I mean, he's just like them, right? I mean, they all inherited their fathers' massive New York City real estate empires, then went bankrupt a few times only to get the chance to rebuild from their friends on Wall Street.
Then there's the marriage scandals...
Trump won't even get to the debate stage unless he's willing to throw a shitload of good money after bad. Mitt Romney has a better chance being elected the head of the Southern Baptist Convention than Trump has being elected as POTUS.
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust.
I'm perfectly happy to wait and see, only one topic matters in the next election, the economy. You can throw stones at Trump for his scandals, his bad investments, and anything else you like. At the end of his worst day he still has more business and economic experience than Obama on his best day. Trump doesn't need to defend himself on anything, Obama has to defend 4 years of failed fiscal policies and not being able to bind the democratic party.
Obama is up a creek without a paddle against Trump, that's not an endorsement of Trump, it's just the hard truth of the matter. Trump also has the luxury of being his candid self, Obama will need to remain the statesman, Trump will obliterate Obama.
Goodnight, Frau Blücher
Contrary to the rhetoric we hear, the United States is not a business. And while in all likelihood Trump's wealth is greater than the combined of all the posters on this board combined, he's no great business man as seen by his bankruptcies. Even if he were, it does not mean that he has a clue on serious macroeconomic matters that do not affect his real estate holdings and his schlock TV shows.
Even if by some miracle he were to win the GOP nomination or go the indie route, the content of his debate points will consist entirely of one-liners such as "I've run multi-billion dollar businesses. I know how to create jobs" and vague platitudes.
2012 on the GOP side will be a re-play of 2008, with a "safe" long-timer or "rising star" winning the nomination. If he runs,Trump will go the way of Guiliani. Since 1980, the puppet masters of the GOP tend to nominate malleable dullards. Trump is too much of a loose cannon. He'll bring "excitement" to the race and will claim that he is the only one who can beat Obama, but at the end of the day, the GOP will go with the usual party-faithful type.
Obama doesn't have a lock on things but he'll likely win and a 3rd party run by Trump will ensure that he does.
Not only is he a birther but he is an a$$hole.
First question to him is how much money has he made from the government?
Second, what's with all the bankruptcies?
Or vice versa..
I say give him the Meg Whitman treatment. I laugh every day thinking about how much money she wasted. $151 million of her own money? HAH!
I say Jerry Brown should raise her taxes just to rub it in!
If I were to believe Mr. Trump, I would also have to believe that he has traveled to the schools in Indonesia and Hawaii where the President "supposedly" attended, and found no records whatsoever of the president being enrolled. However, Mr. Trump did not say that, because we all know he has the MONEY to find out these things, and until he states for a fact that he cannot find any evidence of a "childhood" or "schooling" or "friends" of any kind, then I will have to believe the bio of record.
A lie is a lie. Six million dollars cannot make lies into truth. When will the stupid billionaires realize this fact?
Meanwhile, Bradley Manning was stripped of his clothes again last night while being accused of NOTHING. Also, I have also been informed that Pakistan will be sending me the bill for the release of the CIA operative who thinks he has the right to mow down Pakistani civilians as they walk down the road.
Spend away, Mr. Trump.
We've had billionaires before who wanted to be president - including Ross Perot, Forbes, and Hearst (if you want to go back that far). They rarely win, though most candidates who win are not in the middle class but have some wealth. At least Gates and Oprah have more sense. He'll just be wasting his money. And most people who win have better hair.
This guy can't even get Americans to watch his crappy TV show -- he's thinks he can get them to vote for him? Yep, that's one "smart guy".
So The Donald thinks that what this country needs is a rich, middle aged white guy to be our leader?!?
Gee... what a novel, original idea! I wonder who on his extensive staff came up with that.
Donald Trump has his own interest at heart ... and, but of course! I have mixed feelings for him as our President. The annoying thing about him is his continuous reminder how smart he is and how rich he is! Well, good for him!! His being roped into his 2nd marriage, did not say much for his intelligence!! Plus there's a bunch of other non-brainy stuff of his out there, I'm sure. He is not infalible as he would like us to believe! He does come up with what we do want to hear... as did all our present and former presidents captivate us with!
We just have to know to stick together and get the right people in office or we are truly dooooooomed!!!!!
When Donald loses all his money .... I wouldn't give him a dime!
Donald's leary of Obama's birth. What Donald should do, is to throw some of his money into coming up with the answer as to whether he was born, since he questions the fact the no one knew Obama as a youth!
had a sneaking admiration for The Donald. It would be a refreshing change to have a political candidate/office holder who was not beholden to any special interest group. If he spent his own money on a campaign, he could tell everyone to go pound salt. Im not saying he would be perfect but any missteps he made would be his own, not because some lobbyist or corporation had him over a barrel for campaign money. I know he could never be a Democrat because of his obscene wealth but his financial independence would place him one cut above the rethugs. It would make a most interesting campaign.
