As President Bush prepares to leave office, he had some words of caution for the Republican Party. Bush believes that Republicans should open-minded as they struggle to remake the party.

"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," said Bush.

Of compassionate and decent. I think his is far removed from mine.

HA HA HA HA HA! Seeing as he is such an imbecile he probably doesn't even know what those two words mean. Perhaps that is why he uses them to describe the Republican Party philosophy... yes, it's compassionate and decent to screw the little guy and get as rich as you can at any cost. While you're at it you can take personal rights and protections away from the people...

Pot, meet Kettle.

Pot, meet Kettle."

Very appropriate. I could not have said it better. His mind was a closed trap. Er, what mind? Worst president ever. Gone in 9 days, and please don't let the door hit your arse on the way out. Oh, okay, let it!

Sue = S, is for Susan who perished of fits! Firefighter mom and Rabid UW Dawg fan -- Yeah we had a bad few years but hopefully getting better. :)

His glass house broke down around him before the stone he was throwing left his hand.

not as I f-up

"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," said Bush.

WTF ! that's like asking a psycopath with a knife at your
throat for sympathy. asking the gop to keep an open mind
is like having windown in a solid block of lead.

Tell me again. How many more days left?

Ahh, Rudy you fascist you.

It needs to be spray-painted on a wall somewhere inNYC.

been drinking again?

Are we sure he ever stopped? Remember this is a guy who blamed a pretzel for making him fall and get bruised all over his face. Remember the pictures from China Olympics?

Some claim he is a dry drunk but if he is dry I am the Queen of Sheba.

Dry as in Canada Dry. With a shot Jack on the side.

Can you imagine if Obama had been slapping the girl's beach volleyball team on their butts like Dumbyah was photographed doing?

)O(

Surpised he didn't give Angela Merkel a breast massage?

"What...what are you doing?"

"I'm rearranging your breasts."

"We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." – Bush White House aide explaining the New Reality to author Ron Suskind

"The great masses of the people . . .will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one." -- Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

I dont think anything can describe the republican`t war on reality better than that quote or its challenge to study the delusions of the Jr administration.

Bush is going to try EVERYTHING he can think of to make himself sound sensible and credible in these last few days and in the near future to try and get people (especially spineless Democrats) to forget the torturing, the rendition, the spying, the lying, the polluting, the corruption, etc, etc...

Let's bring back the rule of law, by investing and PROSECUTING these horrific crimes, please?

)O(

Doesn't he mean descent?

I know something smells.

He means for the repugs to remain open to each other's ideas, not outside their party.

Here's another famous for preaching compassion while holding a knife to your throat:

malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away

“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”
– George W. Bush (August 5, 2004)

Is he saying the party shouldn't play only to its religious base now? The people who have some such bizarre beliefs that even other religious people see them as whack jobs? The ones Palin got all hot and crazy?

And what is this "compassion" word? How about "decent"? We might ask him to name one compassionate decent thing his party did over the last eight years.

The non-compassion and the non-decent was shown for all to see after Katrina.

)O(

They would probably cite humanitarian work in Africa to reduce AID's.

They tell them to keep their damn loincloths on.

...oh, and we still need torture.

Too many people fail to remember to connect all those dots. It's difficult to connect all the absurdities, but that sure is a good one there. Thanks.

Hmhh, I wonder how compassionate the GOP will feel about this?

(Redirected from Senate Foreign Relations Committee)

U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations is a standing committee of the United States Senate. It is charged with leading foreign-policy legislation and debate in the Senate. The Foreign Relations Committee is generally responsible for overseeing (but not administering) and funding foreign aid programs as well as funding, arms sales and training for national allies. The committee has considered, debated, and reported important treaties and legislation, ranging from the purchase of Alaska in 1867 to the establishment of the United Nations in 1945. It also holds jurisdiction over all diplomatic nominations.[1] Along with the Finance and Judiciary committees, the Foreign Relations Committee is one of the oldest in the Senate, going back to the initial creation of committees in 1816. Its sister committee in the U.S. House of Representatives is the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs (renamed from International Relations by the 110th Congress in January 2007). The Committee should not be confused with the Council on Foreign Relations.

Yes,thank you. I thought I had posted a link.

9 days before he leaves office he comes up with this? What was going on the past 8 years up until now?

No one is listening.

nuff said.

Perfect and true.

This guy is a pathological liar. Everything he says is bullshit.

LBJ got away with lying us into Viet Nam (and some darker deeds).

Nixon got away with all kinds of things.

Ford got away with lying as a Warren Commissioner.

Carter was a cipher.

Reagan authorized, and got away with, various crimes.

GHW shrub helped cover up his and Reagan's crimes.

Clinton got away with a wasted presidency (and perhaps more).

So shrub fits the pattern, and the pattern will continue.

Wonder what's in store for Obama?

Compassion?

"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

~~~Inigo Montoya, Princess Bride
Ok that just proves that Bush has absolutely NO CLUE how badly he has fucked up the GOP, country, and the world. He lives in a complete state of self delusion and denial. I think WAR CRIMES trials should shake that little brainless head of his!
A lot of reasonable Americans are thinking that same way about Bush if he will ever get how much he has screwed things over upon going back to Texas if he doesn't go before the Hague for war crimes he may not understand.
)O(
Pull my finger.
fall for that one every time! Hee hee.
)O(
Can you hock a patooie of 'baccy across the room into a spitoon by the fireplace?
I'll give the Republican Party a lot better advice than this fucktard asshole:
AVOID ELECTING ANY MORE OF THE BUSH CRIME FAMILY.
Don't let the door hitya in the ass on the way out, and as Jon Stewart said of Joe The Plumber "Just go away!"
Who would've thought that someone even less intelligent and more dangerous than Reagan would come into power and exclude the people and congress from the gov't-decision making process?
...that even a winding-down presidency gives the right time once a (drags hand across mouth)?
Disaster is your legacy. Now just fade away clown.
The only person that Bush let off of the death penalty out of the 150 or so that he fried while Gov of Tejas was none other than Henry Lee Lucas, a man close to his own heart
did George W. Bush ever practice compassion and decency?
Compassion when he was sharing his booze, decency when he was sharing his cocaine straw.
Probably too unlikely that W gave up booze and drugs.
I consider even more unlikely he EVER shared his booze OR any other substance.[BTW, I figure that his quick reflexes involving the shoe throwing incident come from years of dodging projectiles being lobbed by Mrs. B.!]
I don't know what Laura sees in W. How much Xanax or other anger-suppressing drug is she on?
and you rolled it yourself and pocketed it in the morning...
I hope he is picked up the ICC while vacationing and chasing 'armadila', that's all he knows how to do. What a pathetic sociopath.
Bush a Brahman of the GOP. All the Botox in the world won’t wipe the smirk off his pan now.
Don't they geld some of those Brahmin bulls after their usefulness has expired?Now THAT will guarantee to wipe away the smirk,for good.
And of course except for teh gay.
Dave
Bush compassion:
gay baiting to win the 2000 and 2004 election
backing out of Kyoto
underfunding his own no child left behind program
tightening bankruptcy rules for Americans in a shitty economy he created
executing more American prisoners than any other US governor
Gitmo
backing out of combat duty in Vietnam letting someone else take his place instead
Starting the Iraq War based on cherry picked intelligence for somebody else's kids to fight
I came up with this just off the top of my head, feel free to add your own.
where's THAT finger been lo these last eight years?!
Get that finger out of my face! You don't know where it's been for the past 8 years!
that finger away from the football a few more days
http://futility.typepad.com/futility/2008/12/...
That football
Don't ask, don't tell.
i think that was foot-ball...singular
...unless coach sez it's time fer my daily prostate exam!
be using 'an open mind'?
or is he thinking of going the caligula route and put up a horse for office?
....Sarah Palin....really...no difference is there?
In other words ........ "Don't do what I've been doing for the past eight years"
Sage advice from the Lying, cheating, thieving, murdering worst president in history!
Assuming W is the worst POTUS ever, it's both a relief and insult to Nixon.
"When the president does it, then it is NOT illegal."
How things have hardly changed with presidents doing whatever they want in the name of security!
of the republic party ever become 'compassionate & decent'? Hysterical! I don't think the problem is open-mindedness, but more like, the republics need to have a functioning brain and work on their irony & hypocrisy!
No doubt about it. The simian warmonger is psychotic.
these are the thoughts that go on in George Bush's head. While the nation and the world see the truth about him, his actions of the last 8 years, and his political party, George instead has thoughts that don't even connect one iota to the truth. It's gotta be dark and dingy in that skull of his. I suspect a huge echo happens all the time too with water leaking into the base of his skull from his ears.
Scary, scary man he is.
...President Ever.
The guy is too much. Open-minded? I hurt myself laughing.
A little more than a week. Then, Bush needs a one-way ticket the The Hague.
Bullshit. Conservatism is self serving, authoritarian and destructive. There is nothing compassionate about it. They can claim it all they want with their talk of 'saving babies' - but they still let Deamonte Driver die because they were quibbling over welfare and medical treatment for children. Screw them. I hope history renders conservatism to the trash bin of society.
that a man who was became president twice by exploiting as much divisiveness in the electorate as possible, should now be lecturing his party on the big tent notions. What a maroon!, as Bugs would say.
you and your Goopers could only do open-minded with a bone saw.
Given your party's predilictions, if the American people are ever so stupid or careless to give you power again, that type of atrocity will be your next treason.
"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent,".
The GOP Is like a fjord; very narrow but deep. The few who still believe in it's few branches, religious, neocon, corporate/fiscal and libertarian (add a bit of racism across the board); believe deeply. Bush gave the GOP it's full freedom and they have destroyed everything they touched for their own profit. Now we know the ugly truth and they will suffer for it unless the progressive succumb to corruption like they did.
When your head is up your ass.
Unless you've got goggles!
... 'Decent and Compassionate' are Visions.
They will get to those as soon as they can get over the plight of the common people and the desire to 'I want to keep it all for myself' and 'Keep more money in my own pocket'.
It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," said Bush
TOO LATE BUSHIE BOY, YOUR PARTY is narrow on its focus, and its concepts and beliefs are inward and that is the reason people jumped aboard the Democratic Party Train, because your REPUBLICAN Party has demonstrated indecency, corruptness, incompassionate, war-crimes, lying,immorality, etc. You and your party almost destroyed the United States you nit wit..and since when did the Republican Party philosophy demonstate compassion and decency? Since when? YOU SMUCK!@
I'm looking forward to Palin/Plumber in 2012! Who the fuck else would want the nomination?
"It's very important for our party not to narrow its focus, not to become so inward looking that we drive people away from a philosophy that is compassionate and decent," said Bush.
In order to drive them away from a philosophy that's compassionate, he'd have to drvie them away from the Democratic Party, and as he's shown, his long suit is to drive them toward the Democratic Party.
"Compassionate" to Bush means saving a handful of American (especially neo-con) lives at the expense of hundreds of thousands of brown people's lives.
Really where does Bush get off trying to tell the GOP what to do after leading them off the cliff.
Here's my dream about the GOP response W's comments.
