Beck: Universities 'are as dangerous' as N. Korea and Iran
Glenn Beck is a busy man.
Just in the past week, Beck has held his "Restoring Honor" rally and launched a new website. So maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that Fox News host has just gotten around to being outraged at a story first reported almost a year ago.
Last December, AOL News first reported that a professor at the University of California, San Diego developed a GPS cell phone application to help immigrants illegally cross the border into the United States.
Ricardo Dominguez describes himself an "artivist" -- a cross between an artist and activist -- and he calls his newest act of civil disobedience a "Transborder Immigrant Tool."
It's a cheap Motorola cell phone retrofitted with GPS technology. Dominguez, an associate professor of new media arts at the University of California, San Diego, hopes to get the tool into the hands of people making the treacherous crossing of the U.S.-Mexico border on the so-called Devil's Highway.

The Transborder Immigrant Tool was inspired by a university colleague of Dominguez's who developed a Virtual Hiker Tool to help him keep his bearings during desert hikes. The Transborder Immigrant Tool will give the user basic orientation, distance from destination, and the location of water. (It will also be loaded with short, haiku-like poems written by poet Amy Carroll. "We wanted to have a hospitality tool," Dominguez says of the poems. "At the core of the poems is a rethinking of the idea that good fences make good neighbors. Borders do not make good neighbors. We should be welcoming.")
The tool, which will cost less than $30 per unit, is undergoing field testing and tweaking. Dominguez has so far collected $15,000 in grants to fund its development and rollout, and by next summer, his plan is to have churches and groups like Border Angels and No Mas Muertes distribute the phones and train users on their features.
For the August 31 rollout of his new website, The Blaze, Beck's team produced a video highlighting Professor Dominguez's 2009 comments about the GPS phones.
Beck took to the air on his Fox News show Wednesday to express his outrage over the year-old story.
The segment began with a quote from Dominguez. "It is a tool that not only allows the safety, but also creates kind of this deeply poetic centering of hospitality," said the professor. "In a certain sense, we think of it as the Statue of Liberty that one carries along as one walks."
"So they have the GPS cell phone paid for with your tax dollars coming in across the border at night illegally," noted Beck.
"You can teach whatever you want, but not with tax dollars. I would also tell you I think these people should be fired," said Beck.
"Let me ask you, there was a time not long ago in this country we walked you through walls of fire to make sure we weren't funding Hamas or Hezbollah. I have news for you. There are a lot of universities that are as dangerous with the indoctrination of the children as terrorists are in Iran or North Korea," said Beck.
It's clear that Beck probably wasn't talking about his own university.
You know he is just itching to say that Universities are a "Mecca" to liberal thinking. This way he can call us Islamic terrorists to his flock of seagullibles and feign outrage when we call him on it.

They do not like colleges and universities because people who are educated believe in science, are aware that Creationism is BS, and that the Founding Fathers were not fundamentalist Christians.

He gets thousands to go to DC to dishonor MLK, Jr., under the pretense of "taking our country back (from that 'n*gger in the White House)", and when he gets there, exhorts them to return to religion....then, once he's safely back in his studio, begins to bash education and set it up as Communists are poisoning our children's minds.......just the thing to bring the purported disenfranchised religious freaks into his camp. Call me crazy, but I've been following his "TheBlaze.com" site since it just started, just for fun. It is seriously fucked up. I clicked on this link to the GPS/immigrant story, and the video is insane. First of all - could they have found a more crazy looking professor for this story. There is no story. The editing is outright bizarre. This is why I drink.

These are primarily the people/ideology that likes to home-school so as to keep their children away from the evils of the world a sins of man. It can be linked to their nativist attitudes and fear of outside influence on their kids. IMO, they brainwash the defenseless children with their worldview stealing the child's will to learn on their own. It's kind of explained in this clip. Notice a couple things the guy says... "who wants to except Jesus into their little hearts", in the bible that is where they thought thinking occurred... emotions were located in the kidneys... I was pricked in the reins. Unfortunately, it is my personal experience with a close relative that confirms your assessment. My bat-shite crazy Palinista sister is a born-again Xtian of no particular sect who is a control freak and insisted upon home-schooling my nephews for as long as she legally could (in Texas). Her eldest son has been on his own for years now, and will have nothing at all to do with his mother or younger brother.
As the younger nephew is getting ready to exit the nest, he has shown a particularly annoying (to my sister) trait of doing his own thinking. She constantly proselytizes, including to me, and has lost numerous jobs and friends because of it. She is totally oblivious to her own hypocrisy, railing against any illicit drug use while she juggles a dozen different prescription drugs -- uppers, downers, mood levelers, opiate-based pain killers, muscle relaxers, etcetera. She's a veritable walking pharmacy, and could easily qualify as a Big Pharma spokesmodel. Did I also mention this, that she is a follower of Glenn Beck?
Unsurprisingly, we don't speak much anymore ... not really too much point in that exercise.

This was in response to what I said about marriage for all being part of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. I wanted to engage her by talking about the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli and what it meant with respect to an establishment of religion, but what good what it do trying to reason with someone who doesn't think? The recession has killed a lot of college dreams for young people. Mom and Dad, if they're still working, might be too scared of the future to front Junior the tuition and books. Because of the recession, there will be more competition for the low-income grants and loans. It's unlikely Junior will be finding any kind of a job soon, because of all the downsized older people taking the crappy entry-level jobs usually inhabited by young people. I am retired, and I gleefully anticipate the arrival of our Chinese overlords.

Since the mainstream media repeats any nonsense that spews from their unfortunate mouths they , of course give it credence. To imply that Oral Roberts University, Liberty University and now Beck University have any real information to offer is to insult the knowledge that has been amassing for the last 600 years.
