November 15, 2009 FOX Wanda Sykes Show
In a hilarious monologue on her second installment of The Wanda Sykes Show, Wanda takes on the Health Care Reform fear mongers and republicans in general... "The only way Republicans will read the Health Care Bill is to rest it on the back of the hooker they're banging down at C Street House!"

This is the FIRST time I have watched a program on FOX, and it was definitely worth it!
Wow, just how long is Fox gonna let her rag on republicks before they cancel her show?
(although I'm still amazed that a black liberal lesbian was even GIVEN a show on Fox!)
I am amazed at the fact that she was allowed to have her show on the network! It's great!
that the FOX broadcast network, not to be confused with Faux News Channel, tends to air a lot more liberalish entertainment programming than the other broadcast networks? Most of the shows don't last, but there are some that lasted a good while and of course The Simpsons and Family Guy are still hanging in there.
This WealthCare corporate welfare giveaway health care reform sham is a travesty.
It increases those who will be covered by Medicaid, but not everyone will take Medicaid. The cost cuts in Medicare are so stringent that not everyone is going to take Medicare.
The public option is a sham but the fines will be real for not buying the for-profit health insurance from the Health Insurance Racketeers.
This health care reform is anything but.
And did I mention abortion funding, never mind…

This ad is still running from boldprogressive.org lambasting the House Democrats who voted no.
They all should have voted no.
Whenever I find myself tempted to focus on the negatives inherent in this nation's current reality (and, yes, health insurance reform is one source of many of the negatives we're facing), I have to take a step back and look at the bigger picture: each and every one of us shares responsibility for this nation's current reality. Whether we like it or not, each and every one of us must be the change we hope to see in this nation. Since change is happening exponentially, it's difficult to see the forest for the trees. Many more of us are now politically active. Many more of us are now politically aware. We ARE making progress, Alice--it's just difficult to see the outcome we're about to get since what we're doing is happening even as I type this.
I don't think the corporatists would be so loud, so reactionary, or so vitriolic if we weren't making significant progress. I remain hopeful that the codified outcome of this challenging debate will be a viable universal health care plan.
I am constantly focused. We have a Corporate state that represents the rich and the powerful and protects the predators from citizens, rather than the other way around.
For-profit health insurance is barbarity. No advanced country allows it.
The biggest picture is the destruction of the ecology by the Capitalists.
That Capitalists are the problem, don't blame their victims.
Pure platitude. End Capitalism.
Forgive me if I laugh.
Platitude.
You are getting no results.
When you become truly politically aware, you will understand that we have class war, and the working class, which is the vast majority of the population, between 60 and 80%, is losing badly.
The Corporatists are IN CHARGE. The noise is just background.
Hope, it is the trademark of brand Obama.
It makes you feel good even when the facts are not there.
That is what advertising is about. That is why brand Obama won the Cannes Awards.
This travesty of a health bill is a minor sideshow.
We have just witnessed the GREATEST TRANSFER OF WEALTH in the history of the world.
Never mind the $700 billion of the Bankster bailout, the real number is $14 trillion.
Nomi Prins gives a good talk here
John Pilger, Obama and Empire here
This was accomplished under the cover of the first black president. It was a brilliant deception, the people fell for it hook line and sinker.
... anyone who has kicked around long enough can see the big picture.
Junk politics is the stepchild of Junk bonds, Junk mortgages, Junk food, Junk infotainment (or disinfotainment), basically a Junk culture ... the Dont Worry Be Happy Folks can have it, ...cause 'no one likes a negative nancy' but eventually the real truth comes out ... keep it up AXC !
You are exactly right.
It IS a brilliant deception because people are still falling for it.
We are all screwed.
"We have a Corporate state that represents the rich and the powerful and protects the predators from citizens, rather than the other way around."
(milkquetoast agrees wholeheartedly)...and recognizes that Alice X is talking about "FASCISM!"(and assuming) ...that the rich and powerful (that you are referring to) ...are the owners and operators of the corporations that control our govt...
but then Alice says..."End Capitalism"
and (milquetoast becomes confused!)
Question? Capitalism or Fascism?
P.S. (good post otherwise)!
I don't think you could miss that she's a socialist.
BTW: All fascism is capitalism.
I don't know what to say Andy...
I disagree so much with you I don't know where to begin!
P.S. I was asking Alice (for her opinion) whether (our gov't) was Fascist or Capitalist...and I know Alice is a socialist.
It isn't, by definition, autocratic-totalitarian, though it probably helps if the political system is autocratic-totalitarian.
BTW, do you know what a capitalist is? Do you think you're one? Because the odds are against you actually being a capitalist. You might be someone who supports capitalism, but it's more likely that you're a member of either the bourgeoisie or labor class.
and Fascism (according to Mussolini) is a merger between govt and corporations.
and yes competition between corporations exists in a Fascist society (germany had multiple warplane manufacturers that "competed with each other in ww2)...but.
Thats not true capitalism....(It's crony capitalism on a limited scale)...
Real capitalism has freedom involved...the real freedom to step up and compete on a level playing field.
It allows those who make their wealth by investing their wealth without doing any labor- capitalists- to do so unfettered.
You want to fight fascism here, you support higher taxes on the wealthy, through windfall profit, income and estate taxes. If you don't, you continue to allow capitalists the means with which to buy the representatives in a republican system, whether democratically elected or not.
higher taxes on the wealthy!
but dude! ...the corporations that run our govt are giant international global entities!!!they don't even operate in the U.S. anymore!!!(Halliburton moved to Dubai a couple of years ago)
If you think that republican megachurch members with 401-k investment portfolios are running things...you are sadly mistaken!
Our govt is run by Trilateral commission members, Bilderburg attendees, and lifetime clubmembers of Bohemian grove and foreign stockholders in The Federal Reserve corporation...and they run things from outside the United States!
Run by Trilateral Commission members, Bilderberg attendees, and members of Bohemian Grove...because the Invisible Hand that governs free markets hasn't come down and smashed 'em from on high. In fact, that Invisible Hand has just waved them on.
It's the inevitable result of the belief in such a cocked-up economic system. I'm sure that small business owners, or those who simply believe in capitalism because they read Horatio Alger, that they can innocently engage with the capitalist system and get out comfortably without having fed the beast, but they still end up feeding the beast.
BTW, trying to make this a foreign evil is just plain ignorant. It's as bad as the nativists who would blacklist a socialist or anarchist because the theories they espouse were born on another continent, while allowing native and nativist Birchers and Klansmen decimate the populations of those they deem Un-American. While Halliburton is no Pop's Widget Shop, it ain't nothin' compared to the Wall Street banks and bankers- an unhealthy blend of Americans of all stripes, with a sprinkling of foreigners, who, out of necessities both legal and practical, will never move their headquarters out of this country until they are shut down.
And, more to that point, the world is such a small place now that all regulation of trade, out of necessity, will be controlled globally. That's not necessarily just capitalist free trade, either, but any economic interactions under any system of governance. It's simple evolution.
Henry Kissinger when you say
"the world is such a small place now that all regulation of trade, out of necessity, will be controlled globally."
you sound just like "one of them"
(I think) you are a piece of the "invisible hand" and I see you waving...
How long did it take from someone to pull up roots in England and move to North America in the early 17th century? From Tennessee to Texas, or anywhere east of the Rockies to California or Oregon in the 19th century? How long do any of those trips typically take now?
The circumference of the globe hasn't changed, yet it's magnitudes of order smaller now than it was in 1787. That changes a lot of things tangential to distance, trade and regulation of trade amongst them. Thankfully the guys who passed our Constitution realized that things would change and added a process by which to amend their document.
You got it all backwards Andy!
(I say make all the foreign countries that "want some" (sign up) and adopt our Constitution!
(Mexico could be the 51st state for all I care) as long as they join in agreement with the 50 other states!
If the rest of the pathetic world wants a piece of America they can pledge allegiance just like Conneticut, Ohio, California, and Alaska did.
...because our unamended constitution- the one with the Three-Fifths Clause; the one which allowed slavery; which gave the franchise only to property-holding males of at least twenty five-years of age; which granted no rights to individuals or the states (I'm talking about the Bill of Rights here, which are all amendments, numbers One through Ten)- was perfect. Uh-huh.
...if you want to get technical?
why bother to "Amend anything constitutional whatsoever" when you can violate the constitution with Legislation like the patriot act, telecom immunity act and Welfare for banks with a TARP bailout?
I have to admit...I'm happy with "some" constitutional amendments...(I wish congress would uphold their oaths (to the constitution) but that's another matter)
...if other countries would adopt the constitution and send a few reps to washington...maybe they could participate in amending the contitution?
You and I both believe that the Patriot Act should be ruled unconstitutional, but has it been? Why not? Is it because, maybe, that the Constitution set us up for disappointments like the make-up of the current SCOTUS?
There's a lot of legislation that's been passed- whether at the federal, state or local level that has had it's constitutionality questioned then later upheld. Jesus, in the 1890s the SCOTUS upheld the rights of states to legislate "separate but equal" legislation, in the face of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, with the Plessy v. Ferguson decision; a different SCOTUS overturned that legislation and earlier SCOTUS decision in Brown v. Board of Education, citing the Equal Protection Clause- 60 years later!
they should never have to deal with this patriot act in the first place.(and I guess they haven't)because no case ever made it that far? (I can't think of a case that challenged the constitutionality of the patriot act (that got anywhere)
...Congress shall make no law....
Chimpy was actually opposed many times by the courts...so they are not totally compromised. (it's bad though I agree.
Until the SCOTUS has ruled it so?
For almost 160 years, it was legal for public schools to lead prayers, even though there were people out there who, throughout the period of time when the practice was seen as legal, would tell you that it clearly violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
(but you and me) know damn well what is constitutional and what isn't!
(congress and judges are the ones with the problem!
and on that note of agreement?
I bid you good evening sir!
(sleepytime)
You and I might have wildly divergent opinions of the Second Amendment.

How Obama Punked Everyone
good thing we only have comedians pointing out progressive virtues. While conservatives have everyone else on their side. This is a fucking joke of a movement.
I really enjoyed that. Wanda Sykes is hilarious.
...glad she got a show (on Fox even). But goddamn, I just don't think she's funny.
Same here - not funny. As a comedian she is a complete hack.
She is amusing, if not funny, and delivers the right message in terms her audience will understand. Go, go for it Wanda.
Every time a comedian starts off by asking the audience if they're feelin' good, I switch the channel.
I just don't find her funny and never did. Just trying to be shocking doesn't make a comedian. Hell, look at Beck and the teabaggers. Nothing funny about them either.
They all seem to start out that way, especially if addressing an audience.
I refuse to watch Fox. So, I'm catching her monologues on Crooks and Liars.
She is right on with her comedy.
I wonder how long she'll stay on that channel.
cutting her hefty pay checks.

Is she seriously on FOX? Unreal. But she's got to quit looking at the camera.
You Americans need to revive your sense of humour. She's the funniest and bravest comic going around.I know it's all very trendy to say you don't like her, hedging your bets and all.
